Who of us isn't a little bit of a monster too?

Rivers of red changed my life, in ways that even I am unaware of.

I went from being a happy, carefree, and comfortable London girl to moving across the pond and landing at the exclusive Highgate Preparatory Academy, a school for the kids of the rich and powerful, right before my senior year.

Fate placed me into the arms of four beautiful, broken, rich boys; the Black Knights of Highgate Prep.

Loki, Jax, Kai, and Ash.

All rich as Midas, all beautiful, and yet they all carry scars that run so deep, I don't know if there's a way to ever heal them.

Our connection is immediate and earth shattering. The stuff of f***ing fairy tales. My knights wear tarnished armour. They’re angels that have fallen into the pits of hell and been baptised anew in blood, emerging devastatingly beautiful but with the souls of demons.

But fate is a b***h, and one night my life tips on its axis again, making me doubt my dark knights as their terrifying secrets are revealed.

Yet life is never quite what it seems, and even knights must bow to tyrant kings.

Apparently, the grass is not always greener on the other side.

It's covered in crimson too. And none of our hands are clean.

Firstly, I never write reviews. I literally made this account purely to rant about this book, which I shall not be finishing. I got halfway through and gave up, so here we go.

The writing was so shockingly painful to read. I struggled massively to connect with the characters, and the plot was non-existent, aside from there is a girl sharing a dorm room with four boys. The main girl was so disgustingly cringy I have genuinely never felt cringe like it. The author was desperately attempting to incorporate some form of humour but failed miserably every time. I genuinely cannot believe there are people out there giving this book five stars.

The boys have the weirdest nicknames for her, and the spicy scenes are terrible. Considering the story is based in a school, you never get any insight into what her day to day school life is like. It’s written like ‘I went to my classes all week and now it’s Friday evening.’ That’s a whole week’s worth of character development and interactions we miss out on which is pretty crucial during the beginning.

The second hand embarrassment was ASTOUNDING.
For example, after arriving in her new dorm room for the first time, she decides to immediately take a shower, only to waltz out the bathroom fully naked, all oblivious and ditzy, in front of her new dorm mates after forgetting to use the towels on display. WHO FORGETS TO USE A TOWEL AFTER A SHOWER??!! The next day, she strips naked and sits on the toilet for a pee, completely and utterly oblivious to the boy butt ass naked having a shower in the same room!!! She’s all like, “omg I didn’t realise you were in here. My bad” How tf is she so unaware of her surroundings? Like I understand this is a fictional story but omfg this is just completely unrealistic.

Slight spoiler, but this frustrated me so badly I must mention it. So basically, one of the boys falls head over heels in love with her after 2-3 weeks of knowing her (I’m very unsure of the time frame. It was hard to understand with all of the time skips) and this was the point that well and truly tipped me over the edge. There was practically no insight into their relationship at all, other than they shared a bed and were fcking from day 1. There’s no emotional connection, but he’s somehow became infatuated with this girl when the only thing he knows about her is how to make her orgasm and that her mother died.

The only thing in the whole book that the author went into great detail over was her outfits. THE OUTFITS SHE WORE WERE HORRENDOUS!!!!!!
Example of one of the outfits:
“I'm wearing one of my favourite original nineteen-fifties cotton dresses. It has a fitted bodice, is pinched in at the waist, and has a huge flared skirt with a red net petticoat underneath, making it stick out more and giving it a wonderful swish. It's covered in red, orange, and yellow flames, and I've paired it with what I call my Dorothy shoes; red sequined heels, with a cute crimson satin bow on the front, and made by Irregular Choice. I may have a slight addiction to a certain shoe brand….”

HORRIFIC. The book literally had a modern day timeline but all of her outfits were like this. wtff.

If the writing was better, although I doubt this can be salvaged, if the main girl was less annoying and had better fashion sense, then perhaps I wouldn’t have felt the need to leave a review. I still cringe over some of the weird insults she comes up with, which I’m assuming are supposed to sound British considering she’s from London, but I’ve never heard anyone in the UK lower themselves to use these phrases. I’m not sure if the author is British, but if not then she definitely went over board when trying to make the main girl sound less American.

I would have more to say, but I can’t comment on the plot much because I’m not really sure what the fck was going on.
Thank you for reading.

If you’re thinking of starting this book. Don’t.

if they could stop having sex with eachother for 5 minutes the plot might progress quicker

Can't believe i'm saying this but there was too much sex, like to the point i was just skipping the sex scene, like don't get me wrong i love a good smut but this book was basically porn without plot, where's the plot? What's the characters motivation? Are there any people other than the 4 boys, Lily and the mean girl? Why should i care about any of these characters? I'm halfway through this book and i don't really care about finishing it and i really want it to like it. Does Lily make any friends? Why are the other girls have to always be written like this just to make fmc look better? I think the author should focus more about world building and character development next time she write a book and not just smut because this feel like lazy writing in my opinion...

Ok so here’s the thing, the writing is like actually garbage and it reads like shitty self-insert fan fiction, and the cringe is next level. However, I am kind of invested now and I’m ashamed to say it. There are some moments where, if you’re single, you’re kinda like “aw I want that” but not enough to qualify it as good romance. Def gonna finish the series but if you’re gonna read this it’s not worth the money when you can pirate it online. I honestly didn’t even want to post the fact that I read this but I want it to count towards my books read in 2023 so I thought I might as well write a review so people know I didn’t love it and I’m not crazy lol. Also girly’s fashion sense is abysmal.

I dnf at like 90% bc it just got so boring.

So I knew this book wasn't Gonna be the best, but I read it anyway because I just needed something to fill the time, so yeah.

the book itself was okay. The writing was mediocre at best. somethings were so weirdly described that i couldn't even figure out what the author meant by them.

let's get to the mcs:
so Lilly is a "normal" girl whose mom got murdered so she switches schools and moves to a new country all alone. she is "preppy" and different then the others and referrers to dicks as men meat and had apparently no sense of shyness or self-respect.
her first day at the school, she doesn't know who her roomies are yet but she assumes it's gonna be some girls right. wrong. it's a bunch of guys. so as she is showering ( whit her clothes all left outside) she puts on the cringest song ever and starts singing to it. ( mind you it's the middle of the night). as she steps out of the shower a guy just steps in to the bathroom and stares at her naked body. lilly doesn't see a problem with this and let's the stranger dry her hoff and kneel in front of her.
then she steps out of the bathroom obviously in a towel only to meet the 4 hottest guys ever and find out she lives with them. then the guy who she calls lucifer tells her she can't have the room that is empty for whatever reason and girly decides that she's just gonna sleep in the room of the guy who just dried her of bcs sleeping on the sofa is no option at all.
she proceedes to be eaten out by the same guy on her first night there and also sees no problem with this.

“Always happy to lend a hand to a damsel in distress.” He smiles. “Or a tongue...or cock…”
this being the thing said to her after the first 10 mins of knowing this guy she still goes and sleeps in his bed

the next morning she goes to use the bathroom and apparently our mc is a dumb blind bitch bc she can't see that someone is showering already. so while she is peeing with her tits out bc this bitch thinks you have to take off a night dress to sleep the so called he men just steps out of the shower and sees her tits. but she is just hypnotized by his big dick and doesn't care about anything else. as this is going on her new bed mate just casually steps into the bathroom as well and now there are just 3 people casually chilling in the same bathroom half naked.

all this aside the book progressed pretty ok from there on. obv everyone was obsessed with lilly and wanted to fuck her bc what else is supposed to happen. lillys atrocious sense of style a
who apparently Nobody has a problem with and her hypocritical and cringe comebacks aside. she is a pretty decent character.

except she refers to people she doesn't like as cumstais/ jizzstains all in all this girl has a bad obsession with cum and calls everyone else a slut for doing things she does with FOUR guys. 😭

the guys are all also supper mid characters who don't really have personalities except being hot and good in bed.

the things they all say to each other made me want to throw my phone across a room several times and also made me scream out loud from how bad they were.

here some expapels it gets worse dw I didn't quote everything:

"Well, this sucks hairy goat balls"

"Holy fuck with a waffle on top!"

"By the way, Clark Gable was a hundred times more of a gentleman than you’ll ever be. So I wouldn’t attempt to emulate him again. At least have some originality so everyone knows what a prick you really are.” ( said by lilly to the alpha male leader of the group who Noone dares to speak up to)

"My favourite novels are reverse harem...”

"She’s wearing a faded pink ‘save the turtles’ baggy cropped t-shirt, a shell necklace, light blue cropped denim jeans, and white trainers. In her hand, she carries a metal water bottle covered in stickers and has a backpack slung over one shoulder.
Oh, my giddy aunt! Is this...is she…a VSCO girl?!"

"I hear Mine by Joseph Vincent start to play, and as he pushes into me, he starts to sing along in a sexy, raspy voice that sets me alight." ( Yay singing during sex🥰)

"I came across a website the other night, How to Give A Great Blowjob, and decided that there's no time like the present to practice some of the suggested tips."

"Cradles by Sub Urban starts to play, filling the basement with eerie sounds."

some other things:
- the guys don't wear underwear bcs why should they
- these people regularly make out in public school hallways and grind on each other everywhere.
- the mean girls are vsco girls who wear save the turtles shirts
- it's a private school for rich kids but they don't have a uniform?
- the school is said to be small but the doorms have stairs that lead up and are like legit flats ?
- the guys are the kings and knights of the school and like Super popular.
-the put child pornography in the pcs of others to frame them for stuff ( where they get this child pornography from idk)
- their outfits like never match and also don't make sense.

but I have to say it got semi better over time.

I didn't really relise what the plot was supposed to be because the where fucking like every chapter. and I do like smut but this smut just kinda got boring over time bcs it was always the same which I didn't even know could happen.

I was really hoping and waiting for things to pick up but they really didn't. this book had so many opportunities to make the plot pick up but it just didn't happen. 😭😭 you aren't even left with questions there are just facts that don't make sense but I also don't want to make sense of them anymore 😭😭

all in all this book felt like I was reading a wattpad book which was made out to have a plot but is just written to have smut and nothing else.

like the weirdly specific details about the music they're listening to in every instance?? what does it bring me to know what they are listening to during sex if the music itself is even as bad as the book😭

in one paragraph the mc was describing which lipstick she was wearing down to the shade and brand ( like is this marketing right here ) but the author failed to mention the simple age of some characters.

the SA in this book was just super random and could have been done so much better in my opinion.

here are some questions I have after basically reading this whole books that were still not answered:

- who is lillys uncle
- why didn't her moms friends reach out
- where is her dad
-where are the other guys parents
- where is the plot with ashers dad?
- what's up with the murder of lillys mom
- if they are so good at everything why can't they just find the murder?
- what's up with ashers brother luc and why does Noone care about that ?
- what about the guys past except the cabin??
- how is lillys uncle connected to the guys dad's and is he even connected?

thinking about it this book could have been so much better but it just wasn't. Am definitely not gonna read the next book after seeing its a surprise pregnancy trope with lilly like only being 17/18 😭

My suggestion would be to just go commando while you read this book otherwise you will be changing your chonies way to often this baby is spicy AF! We have five characters that are completely broken each in their own way but Lilly while broken she is the missing piece to all of our guys somehow she is the light to their dark and although they all know she would be better off without all of them they can’t let her go. But it’s not just them those guys all belong to Lilly she couldn’t go through life without these guys now that she has found them. It was great seeing how Lilly’s relationship with each guy grows and develops and their struggles that they are each going through. These four guys would burn the entire world and anyone that gets in their way to the ground to protect Lilly and in all honesty I think she would do the same. There is plenty of mystery and questions that I still need answered and I can’t wait until book 2 I have a feeling we are barely scratching the surface and there is something way more sinister going on!

Good debut!

Captured is Rosa Lee's debut novel. It's a fast burn, insta-love RH set in an academy. There's some extremely light bullying from outside of the harem, but not from the harem itself. Although set in an academy setting, very little of the book focuses on the school aspect.

Okay ladies, let's talk. Steam. Smut. Spice. Whatever you want to call it, this book is full of it. By far the most smexy scenes I have ever seen in a book. If too much steam is a turn off for you, then this one isn't for you. I'd estimate a good 60-70% is dedicated to steamy scenes.

Unusually for me - I liked all of the main characters. I'm used to maybe licking one harem to keep as mine, but this time, I wouldn't be able to choose. They are all delicious. Lilly is also very likeable, and I liked the dynamic between her and the guys. I'd quite happily take her place.

I was able to feel quite a few emotions while reading, which I always find a bonus. The unanswered questions throughout built up nicely, and I'm looking forward to finding out answers in upcoming books.

Nope. DNF.

This might be a debut novel and def kudos to doing your thing girl, but I couldn’t move past the first 20% of this book.

The fmc Lilly was so so annoying. Her outfits. 🤢Her inner dialogue🙄 (and the book is mostly inner dialogue) her selfish twat manner😒. She was just an idiot.

Author-we need less tell and more show. More dialogue. We need less g-d awful outfit descriptions. Where were the adults? What is the actual plot here?
Why is Lilly so stupid?

OMG even writing this review and having to think about what I read is pissing me tf off.

I’m out. It’s not worth the read. I left notes on my hilights. Hit those up if you want.

It looks as if my highlighted quotes from this book have disappeared. Truly odd.

Wow, just wow! I love Rosa Lee but I still hadn’t read any of the Highgate series and kicking myself because it was so full of drama and emotion! I have gone through so much healing with her books and this is no different, describing the feelings, the darkness, the obligation. Please read triggers, there is one section that ugh felt terror for the villian that would make any boy shutter, I mean he had it coming so Team Knights but yeah that was cringe worthy. Coming from a survivor that was powerful and healing, yes f*$ked up but you can either curl up or fight. Lots of spice, and I’m jumping right into next.

DNF at 30%

This felt like the author wasn't sure if she wanted to make her characters adults or keep them as teens in high school. There were elements where the boys had definite roles and jobs, that a high schooler would not be privy to, but then it's bookended by them attending classes.

There's no depth to the protagonist. We barely get a look into who she is, before she attends the school, and we get no growth from her. She's cringey - specifically the way in which she acts when she first gets to the school and the British phrases that the author clearly only learned from Googling, rather than having visited England.

This was FAT NO for me - DNF 35%

I didn’t finish this but I’m marking it as read so I could review it as it was TERRIBLE and I need these points to be herd. The beginning was hilarious and had so much promise but it was nothing but a fat flop….

1 👉🏼 The amount of times she “gushed” over something turning her on.. hun if you’re gushing that much you NEED TO GO TO A DOCTOR!!!

2 👉🏼 The nick name calling, it was overdone to the point Jax calls her baby girl three times in the one sentence. PLIS the 50 odd made up nick names at the start and throughout made it extremely tacky and lacked humour. Don’t try so hard to be funny and it might actually be.👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼

3 👉🏼 “I look up to see his beard dripping in my juices”… hellll nah!! No one likes soggy beards🤢🙅🏻‍♀️

4 👉🏼 From 1% to 35% it was all smut and nick name calling. She arrives at the school then gets off on his hand the first night… it literally continued like that until I got over reading it.

5 👉🏼 The bad fashion being force fed to readers ughhhhh!!!! I could NOT stand were the outfit choices this author chose 🤮 and to mention the brad over and over again THEY ARE HORRIBLE - An example… She goes on her first date with Floki who is dressed in a normal (yet questionable) outfit and she comes in a red dress that has a tight bodice with a flare petticoat bottom looking like a flamethrower threw up on it and tied the look together with red sequin Dorothy shoes? FFS… I intentionally chose to IGNORE them and pretend it was something completely different.. it was a real struggle🥴🥴🥴

I hate this book. End. Of. Story.

I tried to give this book a chance I really did but, did a 13 year old write this ? The plot is … nonexistent and the writing in this book is beyond questionable lol. The FMC needs to stops trying prove she’s such a badass and actually be one 🙄 and omg the inner dialogue is so cringeworthy, also the over excessive use of the word “cunt” in about every chapter was just too fucking annoying

- was going through my reviews and I also remembered the FMC fashion sense jn this book was just downright terrible lmao 🤣 I’m sorry but it was just so fucking bad … so fucking bad

Was really enjoying it at the beginning but then it got very repetitive and there was (I can't believe I'm saying this) too many 🌶 scenes
It honestly felt like there was one every chapter.

Will I continue this series? Probably but not right now. Because I did really like the characters mainly loki and kai but it's not gonna be for a while

Also there was quite a few cringey moments usually I don't mind but again there was quite a bit but I would still definitely recommend

This book is the first time I've read Rosa.
They've been on my TBR FOREVER.
From page one, I was riveted and couldn't put it down.
A Superb plot that had me addicted.
The storyline is about Lillys, who goes to Highgate Preparatory. On arrival, she is taken to her dorm, and there she has to room with Loki, Ash, Kai, and Jax, who soon entwine with her life.
Each boy brings a different outlook on Lilly's life.
This book is a Romance, Dark Contemporary with alpha male/ RH/ boarding school/ Billionaire tropes.
Also, lots of spice, of the chart spice, which left me needing a cold drink.
Now onto book two, as this ended in a cliffhanger, leaving me wanting more asap.

Does any woman actually name their vagina? Really? Plus Her Vagisty? What the actual fuck is that? Also do men in real life actually refer to their dicks in third person? I’m always super turned off when this happens in books.

I did finish this book but only because I liked the Boys. I detest Lily and found myself skipping large sections of the book because she is poorly written at best and an abominable character at worst. She spends a lot of time in her head, every chance she has really, saying I know it’s not a feminist ideal all like smash the patriarchy but I love the guys taking care of me. Look that is a feminist ideal. Feminism is about women making there own choices, among other things, it’s about accepting women and men and everyone else as they are and allowing them to make their own choices. It’s got a lot of other faciets, obviously, but that’s one of them. It seems like the author didn’t understand feminism or is anti feminist and just didn’t want to say outright? I am unsure her writing is bad. Also how Lily speaks is just headache inducing. I swear by all the gods is she is described as “squealing” one more time I might scream. I also think the author was going for kick ass woman but Lily comes across as idiot teenager with a heavy doses of cringe. Also of course this woman gets pregnant at the end of the story because clearly that is the ultimate goal of all women. Keep in mind this girl is eighteen and that struck me as odd. If the guys weren’t all rich af this would read a whole lot different.

The Sex: this deserves its own section because god damn there was a lot of it. I found myself actually getting tired of reading there fuck sessions. I skipped a few if I’m honest. I wasn’t bothered by the kinks for the most part this author does a better job of writing BDSM than E.L. James, thank fuck for that. There are a few instances where Ash or Kai doesn’t explicitly do after care but for the most part it’s done pretty well. Also I wasn’t bothered by the threesomes or anything I’m a Poly woman and whatever gets you off. I have my kinks they have there’s. Whatever. The most part I thought the sex was good. Although can we fucking stop making rape, or near rape in this case, a fucking plot device? I am happy with the boys reaction but by Odin find a different way to go about this authors I’m begging you.

The Boys:
Ash- the leader and the head dominant one of the group. I actually liked him probably the best of the lot. I have a links for doms sue me. His backstory is awful like the other guys, I felt like maybe he was more fleshed out as a character, in this book, then his friends were. I felt like we got a bit more story for him. I liked him is what it comes down too. I appreciated that while they were doing what they had to to Robert Ash was protecting Lily. It was a nice thing to see

Kai-tech guy second Dom. I liked him but we don’t really get to see him until book two. He had some demons and I get that. I didn’t like the implication that because he had his demons he was a Dom who liked to cause pain. That implies people don’t have a choice and it’s somehow wrong or deviant to do that. Perfectly happy “normal” people are doms and like the pleasure/pain threshold don’t imply that if you like that you are somehow fucked up. He was actually sweet.

Jax- probably one of my least favorite. He’s the medic/muscle and fine. He has an addiction and how that was handled…was to kinda gloss over it toward the end. This book is 416 pages long, kindle edition, if there had been less fucking and more character development maybe this could have been handled better.

Loki-stealth guy-he is a bit much for me. The care free happy go lucky person he is makes me tired. I liked him but he just got on my damn nerves sometimes. I’m an introvert so he is clearly an extrovert and damn man too much sometimes.

The Story: okay so this wasn’t much we get hints of plot here and there, but for the most part it’s fucking. There are also huge time skips that make no sense to me. We go okay Friday now it’s three weeks later? What? Why? I swear I got whiplash sometimes. Also we have hints that there is more going on, grand, but no further clues just fucking. Did I mention the fucking because there’s a lot of it. Also the writing is, for the most part, horrible. I do not now, nor do I ever, need to know a designer by designer play by play of the clothes people are wearing. Once maybe, every fucking time Lily puts something on we get a play by play of her outfit and the designer. Fuck me stop. I don’t care most people won’t, unless that’s your kink in which case sorry I bad mouthed it. The constant name dropping of songs throughout made me want to strangle someone. I don’t give a damn about which song plays when they fuck or why. Once when Loki was singing to her, okay I’ll give you that one but every second of every song while they fuck, did I mention the fucking, made me roll my eyes so far in my head I thought they would get stuck up there. Also my main take away from this book is Therapy everyone needs it.

3.5 stars. Okay. No joke, okay guys. There are over 20 SMUT SCENES!!! OVER 20!!! And it all started in CHAPTER 3!!! AND THEN, there was a tension-filled moment in CHAPTER 1 after she got out of the shower. If you want to read this for plot, you will not find it. It is pure SMUT. Nothing wrong with that of course, but I thought there was going to be more. If anything, we learn about the guys' dark side of their lives that was created by their respective families so they can later take of their businesses. We learn about their pasts and that's about it. There's a hint that something is going to happen with one of the guys' fathers, but nothing yet.

Quick summary, Lilly Darling has to move from London to America after her mother's death to finish her last year of high school at her uncle's old private school. Lilly is a sassy, takes no shit kind of girl, AND SHE READS more specifically she reads RH books. After she gets settled in her dorm, she finds that her roommates are all male. We have Loki, the red-haired fallen angel as termed by Lilly. He is bold, confident, and very forward which Lilly apparently loves since she has a spicy moment with, in CHAPTER 3!! Next, we have Jax who resembles a Viking warrior with his long blonde hair and piercing blue eyes, and he is a scary big dude who only has a sweet spot for his friends and Lilly. Then, we have Ash, Lucifer's look alike who is the leader of the group. Finally, we have Kai, who is the "sexy boy next door geek," and appears to be sweet and shy, but in the sheets he transforms, AND the man knows how to cook. And after meeting, there is SMUT SCENE AFTER SMUT SCENE. Basically, it's insta lust, and I'd say insta-love when the L-word is used before chapter 15. Aside from the smut, these boys speak to Lilly as if they are poets declaring their love. AND all of these men are into some dirty, dirty things such as *starts whispering* ropes, blindfolds, whips, use of code words and more. But then, most of them have their sweet, heart melting moments. And I love that the author incorporates the songs into the scenes, and it makes us feel like we're more immersed into the story.

Favorite quotes/scenes:

-"It's like she's the sun, and my soul leans towards her, desperate for any light." (Kai)

-"I'm an addict, and you are my Fucking. Perfect. Drug." (Loki)

-"God, she's like a fucking temptress, a siren whose call I'm helpless to resist." (Ash)

-"Lilly makes me feel more alive than I've felt in a long time. She has breathed life into me, waking me up as if from a deep slumber. And I need her breath, like a dying man needs the kiss of life." (Kai)

-"They're all here, we're all together like this, and it feels so fucking right, like it was always meant to be this way. I can't explain it, but I know deep down that this is where I belong. Where we all belong. (Lilly)

-"And I realize that they may be monsters, but they are beautiful monsters. And they're mine. They will burn down the entire world and everyone in it for me." (Lilly)

-"My whole fucking soul and everything that I am, or ever will be, belongs to her now." (Jax)

-"When I think about you, I burn inside, Princess. My entire being, everything I am and ever could be is yours. I love you, Lilly Darling, and I will love you until I draw my last breath and my soul descents into the depth below. And when the stars fall from the sky, and the Earth shatters into a million pieces my love for you will be in every fucking atom of the galaxy."
"You're the piece of me that was missing, Ash. Even if they were to cut me open, they would find you there. All of you are fused to my very cells, and nothing can truly separate us."

-"You have no idea how precious you are, Lilly. You are full of light that draws us in like moths to a flame, and we would willingly burn in the depths just for a single taste." (Kai)

-"We've belonged to each other since the moment of our conception, Lilly Darling. And we are never letting you go." (Kai)

And there are SO MUCH MORE quotes that I love, but I don't want to put so much. So, go read this if you want to hear these amazing words that come out of these men's mouths. These guys will make you think why can't every guy declare their love like this.

I loved the plot, I loved the characters, but I hated how the main character seemed to only speak in 2012 tumblr memes. She literally called her vagina, her vagisty. At first I laughed but then she kept saying it over and over to the point I wanted to scratch out my eyeballs.

Rosa Lee is a new author to me and this is her debut novel. Captured begins with our female main character Lilly Darling who transfers to Highgate Prep after the tragic death of her mother. Along with having to cope with her mothers death she also has a mysterious new uncle she has never met before AND moving to another country!

Needless to say there's a lot of change and Lilly shows her strength of character by taking each new revelation as it comes. Of course, she's not superwoman so she has her wobbles. She is also a lot different to some recent females I've read about because of her cavalier attitude towards sex which begins almost instantly!

Highgate Prep is an American boarding school for the rich and elite of American society and unfortunately Lilly finds herself having to share a room .... with four smoking hot and sexy guys! First up is my favourite, Asher Vanderbilt, the leader who does not take to Lilly. Next, is Kai, the sweet, caring geek of the group with his love for technology and smart mind.

Jax made my heart ache at the end of the book with his deeply protective nature, he doesn't show emotion easily but with Lilly it's different. Finally is Loki and he lives up to his name being the player of the group he is the one Lilly is drawn to first. But she has to be careful as the boys have dark secrets and a hidden dark past. Can she accept it and help them to overcome their demons?

Overall, I throughly enjoyed the book with the storyline and the twists and turns Rosa weaved captured my attention and held it. Personally for me, there was too much sex at the beginning which made it difficult to fully get hooked right away. However, the storyline between these scenes did capture my attention which is why I gave it a 4 star rating and I'm glad I persevered. I have no doubt that someone who enjoys the fast burn of the book would give it 5 stars.

Well done, Rosa an epic start to a wonderful series!

Mmmmm. No. Nope. Not a vibe. Some or the phrases that were used in here alone were almost enough to make me dnf. The ONLY reason I kept going was the smut.

Yes the smut was pretty good overall. Some parts were a little out there in terms of what I believe is physically possible but I mean I can turn a blind eye to most of it.

What I COULDNT condone was the use of “Her Vagisty” when the FMC referred to her vagina. AND THE CRIME WASN’T COMMITTED JUST ONCE. OH NO, FRIENDS. THE ENTIRE. BOOK.

Also. The amount of times the author used the phrase “my nipples pebbled” was obscene. Thesaurus. Please girl. I beg.

The plot? Who is she? We dont know her. Completely ludicrous at some points and non existent in others.

The pacing in the relationships? Wack.

The weird amount of details in her outfits made it feel like a Y/N wattpad fanfic where they show pictures of the outfits before the story?? And the amount of music that was referenced was like?? I dunno. Just overall not a vibe.

The writing was just so full of cringe, I just couldn’t deal. It was a struggle fam.

Again I just finished this because I wanted it to count towards my reading goal and the spice was aight but def wont be going to the next one. Thank yew.

DNF 50%

I tried my absolute best but the author did not make it easy.

“short golden yellow dress, fishnet pantyhose, and these sparkly green heeled shoes with a cute little bow on the front.”
no bc what is this. this is not an outfit least of all it is not cute

“ I can't believe she tried to Mean Girl me. Fucking harpy cumdumpster.”
stop calling people nicknames with cum and jizz in them. it’s not cute, it’s not funny. Also HASHTAGS?? what? this isn’t instagram this is a published novel a professional novel no matter how smut filled it is.

the way humor was tried to be made was painful. it was truly never funny it was cringy and just over no good.
Also the main girls story? yeah you barely get any of it. Basically her mom died then she shows up and has sex with them through so many painful chapters where nothing is truly getting accomplished. There is no character development, there is no relating to the characters, there is nothing written that makes you like them. There are good guys and bad guys but that line is vague at best. I truly don’t get how anyone could give this book 5 stars unless the skimmed entire thing and even then.

*Overall: ✰✰✰✰✰/🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Whatever the spice level is above “this was so hot, my hair is on fire” that’s what Captured deserves. WOW! If you’re looking for a hot read with broken, jealous/possessive boys, you’ve found it! Lilly turns to her broken boys (who doesn’t love a forced-proximity trope?) to help her adjust to life at a new school, while trying to heal from her own trauma and helping them to confront their own demons.

This felt like a fun mix of Brutal Boys of Everlake Prep and Den of Vipers. Highly recommend it!

Okay nope can’t do it. I tried. I got 5 pages in and the amount of swearing and cringe words “twat waffle” is too much. Seeing as the author is English I would have expected a better understanding of the language but nobody says stuff like that and as for the amount of swearing I feel that it’s just not needed. I read a few more pages and there was a swear word every couple lines it’s just too much. This is probably the first bad review I’ve ever left but I can’t do it DNF.

Omg the spice in this damn book 🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵🥵 I ate the shit up.

I’m also curious why ash’s dad is interested in Lilly? And then finding out that Loki’s dad has a picture of her.. does his dad have something to do with her mom’s death?

My heart broke for the boys hearing there back story and knowing what they went through fucking sucks

I’m excited to jump into the next book.
