Dutch professional football player and coach.

As a player, he won the Ballon d'Or in 1971, 1973, and 1974. Cruyff was the most famous exponent of the football philosophy known as Total Football explored by Rinus Michels.

His career as a player spanned from 1964 - 1984 where he played for Ajax Amsterdam, Feyenoord en Barcelona.

# اليوم أغلبية مدربي أصغر الفئات السنية في عالم كرة القدم درسوا ليصبحوا مدربين، لقد أصبحوا مدرسين أكثر من كونهم مدربين. قد يقولون لك سددها باليسرى، حسناً.. هذا أمر جيد ولكن اذا لم يعلموك باي طريقة تسددها باليسرى وكيف سيفيدك هذا الأمر فما الفائدة؟ وهل تعرف لماذا لايشرحون لك ؟ الأمر بسيط لأنهم لايعرفون!.
# كرة القدم لاتتعلق بالظروف أو فريق طيب او شرير، بل من هو الأفضل خلال مدة المباراة بغض النظر عن تاريخه وميزانيته وهيبته بين بقية الأسماء الأخرى.
# المباريات التي تجمع فرقا تنتمي لتصنيفات مختلفة، دائما ماتكون مثيرة ومليئة بالمشاعر لأنها هي التي تظهر أن كرة القدم ليست علما له قواعد.
# من يطلق عليهم خبراء يجلسون في الاستوديو بكل هدوء بعد كل مباراة ويقولون رأيهم بخصوص اللعبات المثيرة للجدل .. إنها نفس تلك الألعاب التي لم يكن أمام الحكم سوى نصف ثانية لاتخاذ قراره بها.
# في بعض الأحيان أعتقد أن اللعب هو المرحلة الأخيرة في كرة القدم، حيث توجد الكثير من الأمور التي يجب حلها داخل غرف الملابس قبل لمس الكرة.

First of all: I’m not a football supporter whatsoever. I must say that my knowledge about football is quite limited. That’s why I gave the book 3 stars out of 5. If I were a football expert my rating would be definitely higher. Nevertheless, Mr. Cruyff doesn’t fail to unfold a motivating, to-the-point discourse. He manages to convey -through his down-to-earth reflections- his love for football in a book that could be read in one sitting. Not only he discusses tactics, but he makes a point about other aspects often neglected in the pitch: the importance of youth, passion, responsibility towards supporters and opponents. All in all, I think that this book is a must read for anyone interested in football, either managing or playing.

Has the duration of a Ted talk, I guess it's a must for every coach or player who wants to improve at football. For me, it was a good experience but nothing special beyond that.
