Bill Mosienko was one of Manitoba’s greatest hockey players and athletes. Mosienko became a hockey legend in 1952 when he recorded the fastest hat-trick in NHL history—a record that stands to this day. This biography tells the story of a Manitoba legend, from his childhood spent skating on the rinks of Winnipeg’s North End in the 1920s and 30s, to his illustrious fourteen-year NHL career, to his return to Winnipeg to play with the Winnipeg Warriors, to his post-retirement career as the owner of the iconic Mosienko Bowling Lanes.
Through exclusive interviews with Mosienko’s friends, family, and teammates, Dilello paints a vivid picture of Mosienko, a man known for his sportsmanship and community spirit as well as his incredible hockey talent.
Ty Dilello is an accredited writer with the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). His work has also appeared in many major hockey outlets including The Hockey News, as well as various newspapers across North America. He has been a hockey fan since Peter Bondra led the Washington Capitals to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1998. Ty plays extensively on the World Curling Tour in the winter and can probably be found on a tennis court during the summer months.
A great book that is well researched. You learn about Mosienko and some of the people around him in his hockey life. An must read book for hockey fans.
I am from Chicago and was recently in Winnipeg where I picked up a copy of this amazing book. Mosienko is well known in the Chicago area for his three fastest goals but the author Dilello tells a story that goes well beyond that and shows us what a truly remarkable human being Mosienko was. Fantastic job !! This a a very good read !!
this was AWFUL. Don't normally write reviews but had to warn people away from this one. Having lived in Winnipeg once I was excited to read about Mosienko but the book was so badly written I had to DNF. spelling errors, grammar errors, obviously not edited. not sure how you can make the life of Mosienko boring and bland but this guy managed it. avoid.
an excellent well researched book about the life and times of Black Hawks legend Bill Mosienko. Excellent presentation and background of Mosienko and his career & life. well done 👏🏼 👏🏼👏🏼
