The Glory of the Redeemer

Rate this book
Octavius Winslow has long been highly regarded for his warm engagement of biblical truth. In The Glory of the Redeemer, Winslow delivers a devotional Christology that will excite the believer’s soul. He examines the person and work of Christ: tracing Jesus’s glory from the eternal existence of His divine nature, through the Old Testament types and shadows His humiliation and exaltation in the New Testament, even up to and including His second coming. Read Winslow’s treatment of our great redeemer and see how good theology naturally leads to hearty doxology!

Prior to reading this Reformation Heritage Books' reprint, I had not read anything by Octavius Winslow for about twenty years, which was a big mistake on my part. This book is outstanding and has encouraged me to read more of the author's other writings. There is a hint of premillennialism in the final chapter, but that is little to complain about in such an excellent book concerning the glory of Christ.

I can’t understand why Winslow’s book aren’t better known, more widely published or distributed, or recommended more frequently.

This book is a fantastic read. Being a 19th century writer, he is far easier to read than the Puritans. Chapter 4, The Glory of the Redeemer in His Humiliation, is worth selling your shirt for!

He is systematic, thorough and thoughtful in his handling of Scripture as well the human experience.
