আত্নজীবনী ধরণের লেখা আমার বেশী একটা পড়া হয়নি কখনোই। লেখককে জানার চেয়ে বরং লেখকের বানানো গল্প জানতেই বেশী আগ্রহ ছিল এতোদিন। এ বইটি বোধহয় সেই 'অপপ্র্যাকটিস' এর অবসান ঘটিয়ে দিলো! এখন মনে হচ্ছে সুযোগ পেলেই আত্নজীবনী পড়ে ফেলবো! 'জীবন স্মৃতি' বইটি শুরু থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত খুব আগ্রহ নিয়ে পড়েছি। অত্যন্ত সাবলীল ভাষায় লেখা একটি স্মৃতিকথা। জীবনের বিভিন্ন ছোটখাট ঘটনার ভেতর দিয়ে রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুর দর্শনের যে শিক্ষা পেয়েছেন তা দারুণ ভাবে বর্ণনা করেছেন এখানে। ভালো লাগার জায়গাগুলো রীতিমত দাগ দিয়ে রাখলাম, ভবিষ্যতে আবার কখনো বের করে করে পড়বো হয়ত। জীবন থেকে পাওয়া দর্শন আর 'শার্পড পেন্সিল' এর মত পর্যবেক্ষণের 'দায়ে' পাওয়া বিভিন্ন শিক্ষাকে রবীন্দ্রনাথ চমৎকার সব উদাহরন দিয়ে ব্যাখ্যা করেছেন। দু’ একটি এখানে উল্লেখ করবার লোভ সামলাতে পারছিনাঃ

"তখনকার কালের য়ুরোপীয় সাহিত্যে নাস্তিকতার প্রভাবই প্রবল। তখন বেন্থাম, মিল ও কোঁত এর আধিপত্য। তাঁহাদেরই যুক্তি লইয়া আমাদের যুবকেরা তখন তর্ক করিতেছিলেন। য়ুরোপের এই মিল এর যুগ ইতিহাসের একটি স্বাভাবিক পর্যায়। মানুষের চিত্তের আবর্জনা দূর করিয়া দিবার জন্য স্বভাবের চেষ্টারুপেই এই ভাঙিবার ও সরাইবার প্রলয়শক্তি কিছুদিনের জন্য উদ্যত হইয়া উঠিয়াছিল। কিন্তু, আমাদের দেশে ইহা আমাদের পড়িয়া পাওয়া জিনিষ। ইহাকে আমরা সত্য রুপে খাটাইবার জন্য ব্যবহার করি নাই। ইহাকে আমরা শুদ্ধমাত্র একটা মানসিক বিদ্রোহের উত্তেজনা রুপেই ব্যবহার করিয়াছি। নাস্তিকতা আমাদের একটা নেশা ছিলো। এইজন্য তখন আমরা দুই দল মানুষ দেখিয়াছি। একদল ঈশ্বরের অস্তিত্ববিশ্বাসকে যুক্তি-অস্ত্রে ছিন্নভিন্ন করিবার জন্য সর্বদাই গায়ে পড়িয়া তর্ক করিতেন। পাখিশিকারে শিকারির যেমন আমোদ, গাছের উপরে বা তলায় একটা সজীব প্রাণী দেখিলেই তখনই তাহাকে নিকেশ করিয়া ফেলিবার জন্য শিকারির হাত যেমন নিশপিশ করিতে থাকে, তেমনি, যেখানে তাঁহারা দেখিতেন কোন নিরীহ বিশ্বাস কোথাও কোন বিপদের আশঙ্কা না করিয়া আরামে বসিয়া আছে, তখনই তাহাকে পাড়িয়া ফেলিবার জন্য তাঁহাদের উত্তেজনা জন্মিত।"

"গীতিকলার নিজেরই একটি বিশেষ প্রকৃতি ও বিশেষ কাজ আছে। গানে যখন কথা থাকে তখন কথার উচিত হয়না সেই সুযোগে গানকে ছাড়াইয়া যাওয়া, সেখানে সে গানেরই বাহনমাত্র। গান নিজের ঐশ্বর্যেই বড়; বাক্যের দাসত্ব সে কেন করিতে যাইবে?"

আরেকটি কথা না বললেই নয়। ভাষার মারপ্যাঁচে মানুষের চরিত্রের বিভিন্ন কালো দিকগুলোর এত চমৎকার নিন্দা আমি খুব কম পড়েছি! এ জায়গাগুলো পড়তে গিয়ে বারবার মনে হয়েছে, 'রবীন্দ্রনাথ এত ভালো লিখতেন কেন?'

রবীন্দ্রনাথের কবিতা থেকে গদ্য আমার বেশি ভালো লাগে। যদিও রবীন্দ্রসাহিত্যের বিশাল অরণ্যে আমার অভিযান এখনো শুরুর পর্যায়ে ই বলা চলে। ' জীবনস্মৃতি ' রবীন্দ্রনাথের সমগ্র জীবন কভার করেনা। আর ' জীবনস্মৃতি'কে গতানুগতিক আত্মজীবনী বলা যায়না। বরং কবির শৈশব থেকে লেখক-জীবনের ধারাবাহিকতার সাথে সংশ্লিষ্ট নানান স্মৃতির আলেখ্য তাও মাত্র বাইশ বছর বয়স পর্যন্ত! কিন্তু অনুভূতিকে ভাষায় রূপান্তর করতে পারার যে জাদুকরী ক্ষমতা নিয়ে তিনি জন্মেছেন এবং সচেতনভাবে সেই ক্ষমতাকে নিখুঁত শিল্পরূপ দেবার আজীবন প্রয়াস অলৌকিকভাবে বিস্ময়কর। বাঙালি গণ-মানসে রবীন্দ্রনাথের ঘৃণা/ভালোবাসাযুক্ত অতিবিবর্ধিত যে মূর্তি গঠিত হয়ে আছে তার সাথে প্রকৃত মানবিক মানুষ রবীন্দ্রনাথের মাঝে আকাশপাতাল ফারাক।

আমার আরো ঢের আগেই রবীন্দ্রনাথের প্রবন্ধ/ব্যক্তিগত সাহিত্য পড়ার দরকার ছিলো। যদি পড়তে পারতাম, আমি নিশ্চিত আমার জীবনের অন্ধকার খানিকটা হলেও রবির আলোকময় স্পর্শে সহনীয় হতো।

বিশ্বকবি রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের আত্মজীবনীমূলক গ্রন্থ 'জীবনস্মৃতি'। তবে বইটিকে পূর্ণাঙ্গ জীবনী বলা যায় না। কারণ বইটিতে কবিগুরুর শিক্ষারম্ভ থেকে শুরু করে 'কড়ি ও কোমল' কাব্যগ্রন্থ প্রকাশের সময়কাল পর্যন্ত রচনা রয়েছে। বিশ্বকবি তাঁর কাব্যিক ভাষার মাধ্যমে জীবনের আরম্ভকালকে তুলে ধরেছেন।

ঠাকুর পরিবারে জন্ম কবিগুরুর জীবনকে এমনভাবে তৈরি করে দিয়েছে, যা হয়তো খেটে খাওয়া মানুষের বংশে জন্ম হলে ভিন্নভাবে দেখা যেত। তবে প্রতিভা যেমন চাপা থাকেনা, তেমনিভাবে বিকাশের সুযোগ না দিলে সেই প্রতিভার মৃত্যুও হতে পারে। রবীন্দ্রনাথে শৈশবকালের ঘটনাবলী পর্যালোচনা করলে দেখা যায়, তিনি বেশ শাসনের মধ্য দিয়েই বড় হয়েছেন। বাবা-মায়ের চাইতে তাঁর নিকটের লোক ছিল বাড়ির কাজের লোকেরা। কারণ এনারাই কবিগুরুর দেখাশোনা করতেন। বালক বয়সেই ঠাকুর বাড়ির আভিজাত্যের সাথে পরিচিত হয়েছিলেন, যা বয়ে বেড়িয়েছেন সারাজীবন।

সবসময় অন্দরমহলে লালিত-পালিত হওয়াটা বিশ্বকে জানতে উদগ্রীব বালক রবীন্দ্রনাথের জীবনকে একঘেয়ে করে ফেলেছিল। পিতার সাথে বোলপুর ও হিমালয় ভ্রমণ যেন পৃথিবীকে নতুন করে তাঁর সামনে তুলে ধরলো। দীর্ঘ এই ভ্রমণে কবিগুরুর অনেক নতুন নতুন বিষয়েই অভিজ্ঞতা অর্জিত হয়।

কবি গুরুর সাহিত্য চর্চার ক্ষেত্রে ঠাকুরবাড়ি কেন্দ্রিক সামাজিক আচার অনুষ্ঠানের প্রভাব রয়েছে। ঠাকুর বাড়িতে প্রগতিশীল কিংবা সেকেলে ধ্যান ধারণার উভয় শ্রেণির লোকই ছিল। তবে সাহিত্য চর্চা নিয়ে আগ্রহ সকলেরই ছিল, যা কবিগুরুকে উৎসাহিত করেছে।

বইটিতে কবিগুরুর বাল্যকাল হতে ঘটনাবলি শুরু হয়েছে সেই চিরাচরিত সাধু ভাষায়। তবে আমার মনে হয়েছে যতখানি ঘটনা তিনি বর্ননা করেছেন অনেকটা ভাসা ভাসা। একটু ভেতরে প্রবেশ করে উপস্থাপন করলে পাঠকের কৌতূহল মিটতো। তবে আত্মজীবনী যেহেতু, এটুকুই পাঠককে কবিগুরুর বিষয়ে নানা বিষয়ে জানান দেবে। আমাদের বিশ্বকবির জীবনারম্ভের গল্পগুলো ভালো লাগার মতোই। হ্যাপি রিডিং।

“This book Rabindranath has etched in words many of his chief experiences about his future poetry, plays and novels. A surging passion for being one with Nature, a sense of thought-filled solitariness even in the midst of a crowd, a realization of the concrete and yet non-recognition of its weight—all these aspects of the book inform his later creations. In that sense, My Reminiscences can be called an introduction to the entire Tagorean canon.”

Tagore, a splendid philosopher of life, had a natural aptitude to articulate the most incomprehensible feelings of life in the most lucid manner. He makes a contrast between the journeys of a traveller to the journey of a man’s life.

To him all the relationships and crucial enterprises of a man’s life are like wayside shelters, the cities, fields, rivers and hills that a traveller passes by doing his journey and the old age is the evening rest house to a man.

And every passing moments of this journey becomes a picture. Tagore comments, “Thus, when my opportunity came, did I look back, and was engrossed.”

Tagore comments that, in his effort to record his past memories there must have been some personal feeling, of course, ‘but the pictures had also an independent artistic value of their own’.

He, as though providing giving the true object of a Life story, comments that what one has accurately felt, if only it can be made sagacious to others, is always of importance to ones fellow men.

And if pictures which have taken shape in memory can be brought out in words, they are worth a place in literature.

Tagore tells that his recollection of his past days should never be taken as an autobiography. He harangues, “In such a view these reminiscences would appear useless as well as incomplete”. He calls his discourse on his Life history as his “memory pictures”.

Tagore commences the very first chapter of his “My Reminiscences” in a truth-seeking note. He proposes ‘time’ as the greatest visual artist, who paints all the images of life in his own erratic technique.

“He makes many a big thing small and small thing big. He has no compunction in putting into the background that which was to the fore, or bringing to the front that which was behind. In short he is painting pictures, and not writing history.��

Tagore holds that, as a sequence of events pass over a man’s life’s superficial aspect and within, a set of pictures is being painted by that great watercolorist. These two procedurees personify each other but are not one and same.

Tagore discerns that man does not always get the time off to pore over this series of pictures within his mind and sometimes they appear in part before a man’s mind’s eyes but ‘the greater part remains out of sight in the darkness’.

Then Rabindranath Tagore recollects the occasion when he was compelled to ‘pry into this picture-chamber’. And he comprehends that ‘Life’s memories are not Life’s account, but the unique work of an unobserved Artist.’

He considers that nostalgia is a progression that cannot be produced as substantiation before others. On the contrary, it is a course of action that makes one enlightened from within. Subsequently he comments, “Though the attempt to gather precise history from memory’s storehouse may be fruitless, there is a fascination in looking over the pictures, a fascination which cast its spell on me.”

If one pays particular attention to the ‘in-between lines’ message of “My Reminiscences”, one perceives that Tagore has followed an inimitable style to narrate his memories. He never portrays them in a sequential array. They are produced before the reader as they surface in Tagore’s psyche. They emerge in his psyche as ‘representations’ of memory, renovating ad infinitum. But those images never become droning or inaccessible from each other. They become the flower of a garland weaved with the thread of life’s candid values.

Moreover, Tagore, while narrating an event easily recalls an earlier incident or an incident that happened later. This is evident in his narration about his father. He, while describing his days with his father on his journey to the Himalayas, again and again goes to his later life, when his father would grow old, bed-ridden and sick. His memory floats between various incidents to make one emotion of his life district to his readers. These emotions are the memory pictures of Rabindranath Tagore.

In some occasions, he mentions a later incident in a chapter before the chapter which narrates an earlier incident to the former. We notice that Rabindranath records his journey with his father in the 15th chapter of “My reminiscences”. Rabindranath was eleven years old then, even chapter 13, which narrates his sacred thread ceremony also records the experience of Rabindranath, a boy of eleven. But when he writes of the Professor, his magician class-mate, in the 12th chapter, he was twelve or thirteen years old.

Thus “My Reminiscences” appears to us, as a collage of various memory pictures of Tagore, which as a whole has produced a wonderful piece of literature, an artist’s work of art in itself.

দিশেহারা লাগলে রবীন্দ্রনাথ সবচেয়ে বড় আশ্রয়। আমি রবীন্দ্রনাথের কাছে ফিরে যাই বারে বারে।

কেননা রবীন্দ্রদর্শনের মূল কথাটাই হলো 'প্রশ্ন করো'। সামনে যে আছে, যা আছে তাকে এবং নিজেকেও। জানার ইচ্ছের বিনয় থাকুক, অমান্য করার তেজ। বড়মানুষ হওয়া মানে আসলে ভালোভাবে মানুষ হওয়াটাই। রবীন্দ্রনাথ যদি কবি নাও হতেন, কোনোকিছুই না হতেন, শুধু তাঁর জীবনদর্শনই যথেষ্ট ছিল তাঁকে বড় মানুষ করতে। তাঁর অনেক দীনতা ছিল এবং তিনি তা জানতেন। আত্মসমালোচনায় তিনি কঠোর।

বইটায় রবীন্দ্রনাথের রবীন্দ্রনাথ হয়ে ওঠার মোটামুটি একটা রেখাচিত্র পাওয়া যায়। একজন সফল মানুষের কী পরিমাণ ব্যর্থতা ও লজ্জার মধ্য দিয়ে যেতে হয়, কী পরিমাণ পরিশ্রম করতে হয় তার ভালো একটা ধারণা পাওয়া যায়।

আরেকটা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ বিষয় হচ্ছে রবীন্দ্রনাথের ভালোবাসার ক্ষমতা। সকলের জন্য তাঁর কাছে ভালোবাসা ছিল। মানুষের প্রতি ছিল আস্থা। তিনি নিঃসন্দেহে আন্তর্জাতিক মানুষ, পৃথিবীর মানুষ। আমার মনে হয়, সেসময়ে ভিনগ্রহীদের সম্পর্কে তাঁর ধারণা থাকলে তিনি মহাজাগতিকও হতেন নিশ্চয়ই।

বহুদিন বাদে রবীন্দ্রনাথ পড়লাম , অনুভূতির সুরটা শেষ রাতে শুয়ে জানালা দিয়ে তাকিয়ে রাতের আকাশ দেখতে দেখতে
" তোমায় দেখেছি শারদ প্রাতে , তোমায় দেখেছি মাধবী রাতে " - সুরটা মনে নিয়ে ভাঁজবার মতন ।

বাঙ্গালির অনুভূতির অনেকগুলি ফ্যাকাল্টি তিনি খুলে দিয়ে গেছেন , এবং স্মৃতিকথার মাধ্যমে বাংলায় প্রথম memoir ধাঁচের লেখার সূচনাও তাঁরই হাতের লেখনী ধরে । স্কুল কলেজের পাঠ্য-পরিচয়ে রচনার মূল ভাব মুখস্থ থেকে রবীন্দ্র রচনাবলী হাতে করে কাটানো অলস দুপুরের মুহূর্তগুলোতে বিভিন্ন সময়ে আমাদের মনে যে রবীন্দ্র ইমেজ তৈরি হয় তার সাথে লেখকের নিজের মনের বক্তব্য , দাবী মিলিয়ে দেখবার একটা সুযোগ " জীবনস্মৃতি " ।

" কাদম্বরী দেবীর সুইসাইড নোট " পড়ার পরে " জীবনস্মৃতি" -তে এসে " সেই নিকটের মানুষ যখন এত সহজে এক নিমিষে স্বপ্নের মতো মিলাইয়া গেল তখন সমস্ত জগতের দিকে চাহিয়া মনে হইতে লাগিল , এ কী অদ্ভুত আত্মখন্ডন!" এর মধ্যে দিয়ে তাদের সম্পর্কের গভীরতর রূপটিই হয়ত প্রতিভাত হয় কিংবা কাদম্বরীর মৃত্যুতে ঠাকুর পরিবারের নীরবতাকে হয়ত খণ্ডনের চেষ্টা । কিন্তু জীবনে অগ্রসর হবার নিজের যে একটা ধারা, আর তাতে যে স্বাচ্ছন্দ্য আছে তার উল্লেখ পাই এই লাইন গুলোতে ,

" যাহাকে ধরিয়াছিলাম তাহাকে ছাড়িতেই হইল , এইটাকে ক্ষতির দিক দিয়া দেখিয়া যেমন বেদনা পাইলাম তেমনি সেইক্ষণেই ইহাকে মুক্তির দিক দিয়া দেখিয়া একটা উদার শান্তি বোধ করিলাম । " ...

لذا أقدم صور ذاكرتي كمادة أدبية، ومن الخطأ اعتبارها محاولة لكتابة سيرة ذاتية، وإلا فإنها ستبدو حشواً وإطناباً زائداً، وغير تامة"

كان للأطفال جناح يبقون فيه مع الخدم ولا يخرجون منه، ليس للأطفال أن يخرجوا من المنزل أو يحظوا بأي متع أو اهتمام، أو حتى أن يدخلوا لجناح النساء
فكل ما كان يحلم به الطفل هو أن يكبر ويحصل على حريته

This book helps in understanding the life of Tagore and many fascinating traits of his character. This is full of poetic passages. We can envy him because he makes perfect reading for the readers, even of the bitter times he has had. We can see many comparisons also in his story like poetasters do damage to English language as cruel people does to a thief and so many like that and the effect that it has on his mind. Also another one is he compares the human mind to a big studio or picture chamber because, as we all know most part of the studio is in darkness as is the human mind. Because of the beauty of his writing and the knowledge it gives us, I think this book is worth reading.

A boy was telling about his past . He was very happy to be a poet. He made many poems on different things . He studied with many poets . He had a great travelling experience like he went to Ahmadabad and London and his frequent excursion to river side - villa . He had a life filled with poetry.
His past was simple and filled with enjoyment.
His father taught him to travel.His brother Jyotendra was also a great influence on him.
The author narrated the story very nicely , I find Rabindranath Tagore an interesting poet......From Nandini.

أحبطتني تلك المذكرات التي كتبها طاغور عن حياته و شبابه و ما يشبه عرضا لتكوينه الفكري و الثقافي و الحياتي .. في الحقيقة الكتابة مملة جدا بشكل لا يوصف و مع حبي الشديد لطاغور لقراءتي لشيء من شعره و كتابته فإن مذكراته تلك أصابتني بالسقم !

يمكن من خلال قرائتي السابقة لاشعار و ادبيات طاغور رجل الحكمه و الدين الهندي . توقعت انها تكون اعمق . على الرغم من ذلك كان في القاء ضوء على اكتر من شغله بتخليك تفكر فيها. بالاضافه برضو لبعض الجمل الحكيمة الي بتخليك تسرح فيها لساعات.

لم يكتب الشاعر الكبير ذكرياته فى هذا الكتاب ولكن مجرد قبسات مصوغة لأجل المتعة الأدبية وأعتقد انه نجح لحد كبير فيما أراد فكانت لغة الكتاب رشيقة وتشبيهاته رائعة وبالطبع تقدير كبير للمترجم لمحافظته على جمال الكتاب

রবীন্দ্রনাথ এই বইয়ে যেভাবে বলেছেন- মানুষের জীবন যত এগিয়ে যায় ততই ঘরের সাথে পরের, অন্তরের সাথে বাহিরের মেলামেশার মুহূর্তটা যেন ঘনিষ্ঠ হয়ে আসে। এক পর্যায়ে গিয়ে অন্তর্গত উপলব্ধি জেগে ওঠে যে হাজারটা ব্যবধানকে জীবনে হালকা করে দেখলে চলে না। ভাঙ্গাগড়া, জয় পরাজয়, চাওয়া পাওয়ার ভেতর দিয়েই নিয়তি আমদের জীবনকে একটা পূর্ণতার দিকে নিয়ে যায়। বাল্যকালের প্রথম কবিতার হাতেখড়ি থেকে শুরু করে পূর্ণ বয়সের কাব্য রচনার পেছনের ক্ষণে ক্ষণে জেগে ওঠা কোন ভাব তাকে কবিতার ঘোরলাগা জগতে ঠেলে দিয়েছে? ভোরের নতুন আলো দেখে অন্তরাত্মার বিকাশ, জীবনের সৌন্দর্য উদযাপনের নিত্যনতুন উপলক্ষ মানুষকে যে অনুভূতির সাথে পরিচয় করিয়ে দেয় তা জীবনে কতটা রেশ রেখে যায় সেই বর্ননা কবির কণ্ঠে শোনা যায় বারবার। সংসারের আর দশটা লোকের সাথে একজন কবির চিন্তা চেতনার মননের পার্থক্য কী করে গড়ে ওঠে- সবই সুন্দর করে জানতে পারলাম বইটা থেকে। বেশ ভাল লাগল।

I have read the bengali version "Jiban Smriti". If one really wants to understand the genius of the man who penned those intricate, deeply philosophical literary marvels, one must read this book. It was all in how he perceived those everyday trivial matters and the realization that came from it . In every page I stumbled upon a couple of lines where I had to re-read it several times, introspect his thoughts in my mind and then proceed further. It took me days to complete the book. The book gives you ample scope to ponder on matters and nurture your mind with those eternal philosophies he deduced on his observations of an apparently rather simple event. A classic in true sense of term and a must read for all.

বাঙালি মাত্রই রবীন্দ্রনাথ'কে বুঝতে চায়, তাঁর ভাবনাগুলো আত্মস্থ করার চেষ্টা করে।এই বই সে হিসেবে খুব কাজের।রবীন্দ্রনাথ তাঁর বেড়ে উঠার কথা বলেছেন।জীবনের বিভিন্ন সময় তিনি জীবনকে যেভাবে উপলব্ধি করেছেন সেসব কথা বলেছেন।

বইয়ের শেষের দিকে তিনি বিশ্বজীবনের সাথে নিজের ক্ষুদ্র জীবনকে যোগ করার যে কথা বলেছেন সেটা আমাকে খুব নাড়া দিয়েছে।

তিনি বলেছেন, "যেসব সমাজে ঐশ্বর্যশালী স্বাধীন জীবনের উৎসব সেখানে সানাই বাজিয়া উঠিয়াছে, সেখানে আনাগোনা কলরবের অন্ত নাই; আমরা বাহিরাঙ্গণে দাঁড়াইয়া লুব্ধদৃষ্টিতে তাকাইয়া আছি মাত্র - সাজ করিয়া আসিয়া যোগ দিতে পারিলাম কই।"

You can tell this book was written by a poet, even without knowing Tagore’s name. Its vocabulary, style, and meter are unlike any book I’ve read. This autobiography reveals the life of the man I only knew for writing the national anthem. It’s touching to see the people who shaped him, especially his teachers and towering father figure. Perhaps I’m not used to autobiographies, as I kept expecting a dramatic plot twist, but none came.

Overall, an interesting read to learn about the man and what shaped him.

রবীন্দ্রনাথের ফিলোসফি যদি আয়ত্ত করা যায়, তবে জীবনের প্রতি দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিই বদলে যায়। তার অনেকাংশই ধরা পড়েছে এই বইতে। রবীন্দ্রনাথের ছেলেবেলা থেকে শিক্ষারম্ভ, লেখালেখির সূচনা, সাহিত্যচর্চা, ঠাকুরবাড়ির সংস্কৃতি ও জীবন সম্পর্কে বিভিন্ন সময়ে তাঁর ব্যক্তিগত উপলব্ধি ইত্যাদি বর্ণিত হয়েছে বিভিন্ন অধ্যায়ে। আর বলা বাহুল্য রবীন্দ্রনাথের রসবোধ বা হিউমার ঘটনাগুলোকে সরস মাত্রা দিয়েছে।

Now I can understand why Tagore is revered so much not only in Bengal but also across the literary world. This is a classic gem written in a crystal clear style and in a mellifluous prose that rhymes as well. Go for it.

I think some of his philosophy does not translate well which makes his points confusing, but I mostly read it for a look at his experiences growing up in India. As we travel through India, it is not a bad read.
