When it came to their feelings, he was always the cruel one.
Ten years, that person stood in front of him and told him that he loved him. However, he would not spare him a glance.
He originally believed that there was enough time between them. They had already wasted ten years. If they continued to waste it, then it would be almost a whole lifetime.
He knew that the other’s obsession with him was too deep. It would have been simply ridiculous for him to let go.
When that person finally let go of him, he had obtained the freedom that he had long since yearned for. However, it was not as sweet as he had imagined.
It was already too late for regrets when he finally understood the implications of that person letting him go.
A light slash, and the once fervent warmth turned into coldness that couldn’t be touched.
He wanted to let out a soft apology, but that wasn’t possible anymore.
He did not know that everything could be so cruel before.
Once upon a time, the longest distance of this world was when I stood right in front of you, but did not realize that I loved you.
Right now, the longest distance in the world is life and death.
By the time I realized that I love you, the damage was already irreversible.
If I had the chance to hug you again, would I repeat the same mistake of the past?
It's short but it's packed with so much angst. This is definitely tragic, but still has a happy ending, though I saw a lot of readers preferred if the MC was more unforgiving towards ML or if the story ended tragically instead of giving the ML a satisfying ending but I also understand why the author chose to end it the way it did. This has more supernatural and slight magical realism to it that is very significant to the story. If you want a concise emotional torture, this might be for you.
Sigh. I really liked the first half of this story and I even cried a little but the second half and ending left me majorly disappointed.
Why? Because Xiao Heng (MC) got together with Luo Yuchen (ML) after he woke up from his coma, after his suicide attempt and 10 years of being unappreciated and ignored by LYC. I couldn't believe it and I was very much in support of the reactions of Fang Xieyi (XH's brother) and Xiao Lu (XH's close friend) who were both against XH accepting LYC.
LYC was scum and did not treat XH with even an ounce of affection in the 10 years that they were together and I understand that LYC was stupid and ignorant of his feelings as he confused love and hate but c'mon. And I know that neither of them were perfect people, they each had their own shortcomings and hurt each other for the sake of their own selfish desires. But I think that in terms of who the bigger asshole was in the past 10 years, it was probably LYC. XH had his own selfishness and darkness to conquer and he was pretty self aware, so when he was trying to justify LYC's actions after he woke up, they all sounded like excuses to me.
To be honest after XH's soul returned to his body and he woke up from his coma, I was so close to being done with the story because I thought that a BE would be more befitting for this story. At least, a BE for the main "couple" because I didn't want XH and LYC to be in a relationship. Like I was glad that XH had another chance at life but him going back to LYC was like a big slap to a reader's face. 😒
Nevertheless, I did like the reminders that the author included about suicide not being the right solution, that suicide hurt more people than you would think and how the butterfly effect could drastically change the lives of so many. The way the author explored the depth and darkness of XH's character was also something I was quite impressed with.

Rating: 1/5- What even is this book? This is the lowest I've ever rated a book in my history of reading on this site.
I don't really know what the author tried to convey? That you can abuse and manipulate your partner for over a decade and call it not understanding your true feelings and simply bullying a person you like? WTF?
Since when is that okay?
This book was an absolute mess- it didn't make a lick of sense. How does the MC go from being emotionally and physically abused to the point of attempting suicide to absolute devotion to his abuser because he cried a little?
This author knows nothing about the debilitating impact of abuse and abandonment.
This story is pathetic. It empowers abusers and ignores victims. The MC watched his beloved partner sleep with his white moonlight in their house? The white moonlight was apparently in love with the ML all this time but also knew the ML loved the MC but was confused about his feelings? The MC regretted committing suicide because he found out the ML loved him but wasn't sure how to express it so beat him up and treated him like dirt?
What even is this waste of time? Then suddenly there's terminal illness. No man- don't write this kind of nonsense.
Oh hell no. Goodbye! Don't you ever romanticise abuse like this! People die on a daily from severe depression, physical and emotional abuse and don't even experience a 1 degree let alone a 360 degree turn around of character by their abusers! I've witnessed abuse in relationships and been a victim myself- this book is a no go!

i dont know what feeling i have in me reading this. I don't agree with how they are getting back together. but who am i to judge either?
but i stayed up THIS late only to finish this, so i cant bear to give this lower than 4 stars.
let's just said... 3.5?
i mean, most danmei are clearly questionable anyway.
By the way, it's not really about the ending, but also the extra.
Maybe if the extra disappear i could just confidently giving this 4/5. but what??? the extra was so badly written, and so out of character.
also their relationship now is very awkward, it's not romantic at all.
God. This will come off as wrong but it would have been better if Xiao Heng's story ended in chapter 12 or he wake up again with no memory about his ghost life and just abandon LYC.
I mean. GOD.
Idc about his whole three months of suffering and his clearly anger issues, i just... I CANT BEAR THE THOUGHT OF XIAO HENG BEING WITH HIM.
Ok this is enough, yall got what i mean.
So basically i don't really recommend this but i stayed up this late to finish this.
Anyway the choice is on you
Addition: what making it more tolerable is that the author clearly highlighted the bad influence of everything wrong in this book so nothing is being romanticized here. that's a good move.

I liked it. I liked that the MC came to understand a lot of things about their relationship but I do think the MC forgave the ML too quickly for being treated like shit for 10 years though.
Summary: MC forces the ML to be together with him for 10 years. Story starts when MC dies from having committed suicide and his soul is bound to the ML and we see how the ML immediately gets together with the person he really wanted to be with
