My plans were simple: an island escape to relax before starting my new life in New York. I didn’t plan on falling in love with a man who said he was just a bartender. I didn’t plan on my White Isle vacation turning so dark.
And the bartender – it’s not just my heart he holds in his hands.
I really loved this one. This was as much a love story about Ibiza as it was between Jameson and Tommy. This book made me feel dreamy and left me with some wanderlust. One of my favorite things about Annie's writing is the way she makes you feel like you are at each location with the characters. I felt like I knew what Ibiza looked, smelled and felt like. She describes the golden hour when the sun makes everything look filtered and that's how I felt while reading, like I was reading this during the golden hour on the beach with a drink in my hand. Ibiza is a safe haven for the rich, Jameson's family has lived there on and off her entire life. She comes back to vacation before leaving for New York to finish school. She meets Tommy who owns a local bar. While a summer fling was all it was supposed to be, their lives become even more intertwined because even safe haven's have underbellies. I loved Jameson's character. I love female leads that don't have to be loud and flashy. I like that she had a good head on her shoulders and was thoughtful and calm. This is a perfect vacation read. It has the perfect amount of romance, heat and suspense to keep you hooked. You will definitely want to vacation in Ibiza (and hopefully meet your own Tommy) after reading! I am very much looking forward to Lala's (Jameson's sister) story next year!
This is such an exciting stand alone from Annie Dyer & I'm still having a book hangover. I absolutely loved the setting, characters & the story. Jamieson (Jamie) is on a family trip to Ibiza and meets Tommy who is a grumpy but wonderful bartender. They are from different backgrounds as she is the daughter of a rock legend & heiress while his family owns the bar. I enjoyed that they didn't let these get in the way of their happiness. There are shady characters, intrigue and the chemistry between these 2. I also loved her sister Lala & hope she gets a story of her own!
Absolutely a great summer read! Ibiza is not a place I’ve heard of in depth before, but this author’s description took me right there. What a story. Jameson is a privileged individual who is spending time with family before her move to NYC. She’s the daughter of a socialite and a rock legend. We also meet and get to know the side characters in this book-can we please have Lala’s story? 🙏
Tommy’s family owns a popular bar and his family is shady. He’s a bit older than Jamenson, but the attraction in there: these two burn bright.
There is a lot of intrigue in this book and both characters have back stories.
I finished this a few days ago and I still haven't recovered!
I loved this brand new standalone from Annie Dyer! Bartender has everything! Intrigue, suspense, heat all set on the beautiful backdrop of Ibiza!
Jameson and Tommy may come from different worlds, Jameson (Jamie) is the daughter of a rock legend and heiress. Tommy is the owner of the local bar and his family is a little shady to say the least! Both have times in their lives they would rather forget but when their eyes meet for the first time they definitely won't forget each other. Will a summer fling turn into more or will things from the past stand in their way?!
I loved Jamie's sister Lala, and I really hope she gets her own story!
I was totally hooked from the very beginning and I am going to say it now, No.1 read this Summer!
When Jamie joins her mother and sister on Ibiza for one last summer vacation before concentrating on school, she expects to spend her days at the beach and her nights partying, maybe finding a summer fling. She does not expect to fall in love with a handsome and mysterious bartender. Now her days and nights are filled by Tommy but past hurts and current danger threaten their fragile relationship. As summer comes to a close, everything is put to the test.
Whew! I am huge fan of Annie Dyer's books but she truly stunned me with this one! Suspenseful, emotional, and steamy are just a few of the adjectives to describe Jamie and Tommy's love affair. I fell in love with these characters and the setting. A must read this summer!!
This book is easily my favorite Annie Dyer book and might be one of my favorite books of all time. I feel like this book put me in a spell and I'm not sure how I'll get out. Bartender is enchanting, the descriptive writing in this book is like nothing I've ever read before and I wish more books were this descriptive.
The description of Ibiza, and how both Tommy and Jameson see the world is ethereal. They both see the world so differently but you can feel the pull towards each other from the moment they meet.
Tommy, the bartender, is an engima of a character and you cannot help but feel for him after you learn his backstory.
Jameson's story really focuses on her family, specifically her sister and her mother. Both Lala and Livi are special characters in their own right and Livi's life tips and mysterious edge makes me love every scene she is in.
I feel like I cannot describe this book at rhe level of my love for it and I won't try and explain it. But I absolutely recommend this book to anyone.
This is an outstanding read, and one not to be missed.
Jameson goes back to the beloved holiday destination, Ibiza, where her family own a luxury home, and where her mother, Livi , now calls home.
She is there to spend a few months with her mother , and her sister Lara.
Jameson is moving on from her past, but that's not easy when she finds out that the son of her mother's partner will be on the island at some point
Tommy owns a bar, and is an amazing mixologist of cocktails . The heartbreak of his past always haunts him , especially as that heartbreak was caused by a family member .
Tommy, has broken away from his family ,his uncle Colm, and his cousin , Ash, and their business .
There's trouble bubbling on the Island , who can you trust ?
Let your hair down and party with the rich and famous. This book has everything a girl could want: action, romance, and danger. No one writes a story like Annie Dyer. Her writing truly immerses her readers in the world she creates. This book was different and fun as we get to party like rock stars and hang out with the super weathy. Jameson's summer vacation was supposed to be relaxing and peaceful. She planned to visit her mother and sister on their island retreat, but her plans get turned upside down when she meets the new bar owner, Tommy. He's all alpha, intense, and that dirty mouth.... he make her melt.. But he is convinced that she should stay away from him. Tommy is a dangerous man, looking for a quieter life. Jameson's attraction to Tommy is unlike any that she has had before, and she risks a broken heart but she just can't walk away. When she becomes a pawn in a very dangerous game, Tommy must face how he feels about her or loose her forever.
Annie Dyer returns with a brand new standalone book that leaves you with a book hangover that only a handcrafted cocktail 🍸 would cure.
Jameson and Tommy bring you not only suspense and mystery, but all from the fantastic setting of Ibiza. Annie has made you feel like you're part of the setting, the heat, the views and atmosphere created through her descriptions, make the whole book come alive.
Can two people from such different backgrounds find their happy ever after or is happiness just a dream not meant to be?
What attracted me to this book was its absolutely STUNNING cover. I was seriously dying to get my hands on this baby and I jumped in as soon as it was downloaded. If you love romantic suspense on the beach, I do recommend picking this up. I just wish the writing was a bit more concise and straightforward. There were way too many descriptions of everything and I was just waiting for the romance to pick up! 3.5 stars
Pack your bags because we are headed Ibiza with Jameson and she is in for quite an adventure. Having grown up in the music world she is a bit of a socialite. She isn't spoiled but she has never wanted. So now before starting out on her own she decides a bit of R & R is on her future what she doesn't plan on is meeting Tommy. Tommy is a bartender in this paradise and comes from a bit of a questionable past. His family owns the bar and he is doing his part. When this couple connects it is electric. They have chemistry and sass. Jameson is a strong independent woman that knows what she wants but she soon finds herself caught up in a bit of romance, suspense, angst and yes love. Get ready for a wild ride with Tommy and Jameson! ~~Michele McMullen ~~
Bartender Annie Dyer Jameson: “The love child of an heiress and a rock legend.” Tommy said he was just a bartender, but anyone who knew the ins and outs of the island knew his family was full of dark secrets. Sweet, careful, accomplished and hard working Jameson came home to Ibiza for a summer break to move on from a past mistake and to celebrate the sun with her family. This story is the ultimate summer escape beach read with a few twists to keep the pages turning. You can live vicariously and enjoy the parties, decadence and joy of a summer in Ibiza. Ms Dyer introduces new characters in this book that you very quickly know so well that they could be old friends. The setting, the characters and the drama are so well written that you are instantly transported to this beautiful island. Livi, Gavin and Lala all of stories to tell, I hope this is a long series! This book is a stand-alone novel with hea. I received an arc of this book. 5 Beach Holiday Stars
This book was different from other books by this author, but only because of the setting in which it takes place. I swear I was watching a movie. Her description of the place made me feel like I was there seeing everything as it was unfolding. It made me wish I’d met a bartender or had a summer romance when I was young and beautiful. Lol. The book presented a completely different world to mine, and it just enraptured me. I had to keep on reading until the end. I definitely look forward to reading more of this new series.
This book fulfills everything the tagline claims. Decadent. Indulgent. It brings a summer of hedonistic pleasure right into your soul. It was like entering Gatsby-ish world set in the middle of a Raymond Chandler novel but adding an intensely sexual romance that makes you ache. The description of the setting makes you feel like you’re right there with the characters amidst the humid, luxury of Ibiza!
You don't want to miss this heart-grabbing, intense romance with unforgettable characters. I highly recommend it.

Set on the beautiful island of Ibiza, Jameson is there to relax before a gruelling schedule at school. While she has lived a life of privilege, she’s quite humble with who she is. There she meets the hot, older bartender, Tommy. The two have an instant and steamy connection. But there are some mysteries on the island that could be in their way.
Jameson and Tommy are absolutely red hot. When they finally get together, lord have mercy. These two together are sizzling hot. Jameson and Tommy are relatable characters you’ll fall in love with. The epilogue was the perfect ending to the story. While I’ve never been lucky enough to visit Ibiza, the way Annie Dyer wrote this story, I felt like I was there. Her attention to detail is absolutely amazing.
Jameson and Tommy are couple goals for sure! the heat in this book is amazing and I'm not talking about all the descriptions of Ibiza! Jameson is not your typical rich girl, she has manners, she has dreams and goals. Tommy is not your typical business owner, he has a darker past. He tries to keep his hands off Jameson, but he gives in. This book has so much to it, but the best part for me, was feeling like I was on vacation in Ibiza right along with these two! Great Book!
Bartender by Annie Dyer takes us to the beautiful island of Ibiza, where Jameson is spending one more summer before heading to NYC to finish her Architecture work. Her descriptions of the island and lifestyle set the stage for a great love story. Jameson and her sister Lara are the daughters of a rock legend and an heiress. Their mom, the heiress, is a free spirit who is just fantastic all through the book. From appearances, the mom is just yoga-ing her way through life, throwing parties, and being the center of everything. However, we discover their mom is probably the smartest woman on the island, and she is tough. She has brought up Jameson and Lara well, and although they are a bit spoiled, neither is bratty nor cruel, just entitled and like to have a lot of fun. Ibiza has been their home more so than England for years, so this summer is really like coming home for Jameson.
Once home, she discovers Coctel, a bar on the island, and its enigmatic owner Tommy, they are complete opposites, but the draw is immediate. She's not his type; he's not her type. She's moving on; he's staying in Ibiza. She's gentry, and he's from a crime family. However, they end up together, and it is hot! Not the temperature of Ibiza hot, but steamy between these two. There's shady goings-on in both their families, and it adds a suspenseful dimension to the story. The story between these two is touching and satisfying, and seeing this is the first book I have read by this author and pleasant surprise. I am more than ready to read more by Annie Dyer.
I recommend this book as a fun summer read and great romance--so go ahead fall in love with Jameson and Tommy but be prepared to fall just as in love with Ibiza.
Bartender by Annie Dyer was so different from I have usually read from her. It was a bit of summer beach party vibes. It was a bit of romantic suspense. It was a bit of hot intense chemistry. It was a chaos of debauchery and feels. And I felt kind of lost.
This story is set in Ibiza. Jamie aka Jameson is the daughter of heiress and rockstar. And she has come to their family villa for summer vacation before she finally starts her professional life as an architect. Here she meets Tommy. The sexy bartender who has opened a new trendy cocktail bar. And who has a complicated family history.
So a great part of the story was spent in describing the lush environment of Ibiza. While it was full of rich parties, drugs and rock n roll, I felt a disconnect from it. Usually I can imagine and get immersed but it was taking a major part and I couldn't concentrate in the main story. Also there are lots and lots and lots of secondary characters. And I felt I was not spending enough time with the main characters. Jamie is a fun and sweet and strong character. And Tommy is complex and brooding with great sex appeal. Their chemistry comes to life and it was swoony and hot. Also it has a suspense mixed story line. I was loving the story some time and some time I just wanted to push ahead skipping parts.
If you love a romance with summer fun, sexy times and complex story line..Bartender by Annie Dyer is it for you.
Written in first person from dual POV, Jameson and Tommy have a summer fling set on the wild island of Ibiza. The setting and the atmosphere of Ibiza is a character of its own within the story, as is the lifestyle of the people who holiday there. Tommy is a bit of a bad boy. I appreciated that he was not looking for love after losing the love of his life. Jay-Jay is getting over her last romance when she arrives on Ibiza for the summer before heading to New York to finish her education. Their attraction is mutual and intense, leading to some smoking hot moments between them on the isle where anything goes. Tommy has a past, and Jameson end up in danger along the way. I was trusting the author to give them their HEA when it seemed like it might not happen, and she did. The writing style of this book is a bit different than others written by this author. I felt like the story moved dreamily through the first 80% of the book, and there were times I struggled to stay in it. I liked the characters, but I am not sure I ever felt like a really knew them in a way I have known some of her other characters. The setting was new to me, and the lifestyles of the rich and famous playground was beautiful but difficult for me to relate to my own life. I feel like this is a good beach read with lots of heat, a little suspense, and an escape from reality into the world of overindulgence that Ibiza represents. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an advance reader copy of the book.
Bartender by Annie Dyer is utterly DELICIOUS! Jameson and Tommy are divine.
Jameson is such a beautiful old soul, so worldly, and weary, and sweet, and kind, and caring, and searching for her place, her happiness, her truth.
Oh Tommy, he took my breath away from their very first interaction. He has layers for days and is to intriguing and fascinating and UNF.
The will they wont they, the push and pull, the secrets, the stolen moments and shared glances, all of it simmering just beneath the surface, giving you all of the sizzling FEELS.
This story has it all, drama, mystery, intrigue, dazzling characters, emotional connections, gorgeous and evocative descriptions, and poignant moments that stick with you long after having devoured them on the page. It's complex, a tricky tapestry of woven words telling a spectacular story that draws you in and refuses to let go.
Still waters run deep, a whole new world for you to explore. So, what are you waiting for? Time to dive in, and enjoy!
P. S. I think I need a trip to Ibiza! This island sounds magical.
P. P. S. Highly recommend imbibing a cocktail or three whilst reading for added enjoyment!
P. P. P. S. I think I need to find me a bar, a seat in the shade, and a cocktail, and do some reading and writing! Sounds like heaven!
P. P. P. P. S. Lara is so endearing and charming; I cannot wait for her story!
What an amazing summer read! I so enjoyed Jameson’s and Tommy’s story, as well as the “love letter” to Ibiza penned by Annie Dyer. Before moving to New York to finish her studies, Jameson comes to spend the summer at villa Safir on Ibiza, that is co-owned by her wealthy socialite mother and her rock god father, who amicably separated many years ago. There she meets Tommy, bartender extraordinaire, who is as handsome as he is mysterious. He’s living with a heartache caused by his shady family. Tommy and Jameson have an instant connection, and are soon enjoying what they both imagine to be a summer fling. There is a suspense element though-out the story; and Bartender is the perfect mix of romance, suspense and heat that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat!
Bartender is a good read. It started off slow for me but I kept reading and then I started liking it more. Jamie is on a trip to Ibiza for some relaxation. I liked her. She's from a rich family but she wasn't snobby. She not looking for love but then she meets Tommy. Tommy is a bartender. Tommy is from a different world than Jamie but they have a great connection. There's suspense and romance built-in making it a good read.
This is the first book I’ve read from Annie and it won’t be the last. I adored Tommy and Jameson and was hooked on this one from the beginning. I loved watching their relationship develop and was on the edge of my seat during some of the more suspenseful parts. I also adored Jameson’s quirky family - I am so happy that her sister, Lala, is getting a book.
There is beauty and magic in words and this author has managed to achieve both. I'm always mesmerized by the way that she combines them to create a symphony on my soul. I get lost in the characters and scenes that she pens. She is truly an artist.
This book was beautiful like her other books but it felt different. There was a peacefulness and serious grace to Jameson and Tommy's love story. This didn't have the humor that her other series had but the connection with family was still there. I loved watching Jay and Layla be so close as sisters and also be so different. I'm looking forward to mama's story next.
This was my first Annie Dyer's book, and won't be my last. Tommy and Jameson are fantastic characters. They share a sizzling chemistry. I liked the suspense, and the intrigue. The storyline is entertaining, filled with twists and turns. The scenery is wonderfully described. This is the perfect summer reading. I enjoyed it.
Amazing story by Annie Dyer. Jamieson and Tommy are both trying to find themselves. The author makes you yearn for a good drink and beach blanket with a good book. For me it was this book.
An absolutely incredible story. It's one of my favourite reads of this year. I loved the setting and the storyline so much. The characters were fantastic and so easy and enjoyable to read about. I felt like I was living their life with them but in the best way possible. An absolutely fantastic story that you must read.
