This book is old (information ends in 1971) but a great book to get a (I believe) unbiased history of Jerusalem through the years. So sad to hear just last night the UN Council decision to no longer recognize the term Temple Mount. If that doesn't mean anything to you, then definitely read this book. Lots of good photos to accompany the history. So glad to see a book where the photos are interspersed with the relevant text.
