My wedding to Prince Charming is interrupted with accusations that it’s a sham. It is, but we both hold tight to the story that we’re marrying for love. I don’t have to fake it, but I’m not so sure about my husband. As I play the waiting game for him to return home from training camp, I start to find my niche with the wives of his pro football teammates. But our marriage contract is only valid for one year. If it’s all just for show, why do I feel a little sad at the thought of losing this new club I’m part of... and why does my heart leap into my throat every time my husband takes the field?
Lisa Suzanne is an Amazon Top Ten Bestselling author of swoon-worthy superstar heroes, emotional roller coasters, and all the angst. She resides in Arizona with her husband and two kids. When she's not chasing her kids, she can be found working on her latest romance book or watching reruns of Friends.
Waiting Game is the fourth installment in the Vegas Aces series by author Lisa Suzanne. Please note this is not a standalone, and the books must be read in order. Told in the heroine's point of view, this book continues the journey to Ellie and Luke's happily ever after.
This book starts off right where Fair Game left off with a pregnant ex trying to stop Ellie and Luke's Hawaiian wedding. But boy did they have a surprise for her and the others who objected this union. Ha ha! They got the last laugh, and I loved it! But the obstacles don't stop there. They continue to come their way, but despite it all, their relationship continues to blossom, from friends to falling in love and giving their fake marriage a real go.
Heat-filled, humorous and heartfelt, Waiting Game kept me on the edge of my seat, furiously flipping page after page after page. It was sweet, it was swoony, and I simply couldn't get enough of Ellie and Luke's love story. One more book to go in this series, and after that cliffy, it can't get here quick enough for me. Five stars for Sexy Ellie, Hot Luke and Waiting Game!
Gotta love when an author sucks you into the story. You are so damn hopeful these two will make it. I have faith this couple will see through the obstacles life has thrown at them. Definitely recommend a must binge series to read!
Yesss. Lisa delivered exactly what I wanted in this fourth installment! More drama, more hints towards the truth and more romance!! I really really enjoyed this part. It’s definitely my fav one so far!!
I feel like so so much happened in this one. Things that shocked me for the positive and the negative, things that came out of nowhere and had me shook. Things I was expecting from certain characters.
Luke and Ellie were everything!! I love them together so much. Yes, they still both do stuff that has me questioning it all (especially Luke). Luke and Jack’s big secret is getting on my nerves and I NEED TO KNOW! Omg! We took a lot of steps forward in this book, toward the real truth, about what happened in the past and also Luke and Ellie’s relationship. BUT I feel like there’s still so much more to come and so many things that we aren’t aware of!
Gosh I am dying, just dying for it all to be revealed and, no joke, I’ll be pissed if the results are not what I want them to be. These two deserve a break and I really want their future to be a bit easier than it has been so far for them, especially with the two freaking bombs Lisa dropped on us at the end of Waiting Game. Gosh this is gonna be the longest, most torturous wait of them all until End Game hits my kindle.
The Vegas Aces series is my current crack. I just devour these books so fast and always always want more! I can’t get enough of this series and all the drama.

Waiting Game is book four in the Vegas Aces. It can not be read as a standalone, you must read the previous three first. I was excited to get my hand on this one. I think this one might be my favorite so far because of the growth of Ellie and Luke's relationship in this one. I loved this one. of course, there are ups and downs for them and pesky Michelle tries to cause problems. The ending has another cliffhanger that has me waiting for the next one but also I think I might like Jake by the end of the next book.
This is a series of five short books -- each ending on a cliffy until the fifth where readers score with an ending that completes the series. I wasn't aware of the short and cliffy presentation until I got into the series. The fun and games and characters made me stick around. Yes, it was a bit frustrating and even annoying but it is what it is and I was completely taken in by the characters and storyline. So, I'm not going to grumble much. I needed something light and fun and that's just what I found even with a bit of angst. What would a romance be without a little angst? And I also am a major fan of sports-related romance and football especially.
This series started in March and finished the middle of April so wasn't a bad wait in between books. These five books featured Luke Dalton and Ellie Nolan. Luke's older brother Jack Dalton will be the featured quarterback in Season 2 of the Vegas Aces -The Quarterback series. I've already read it and was completely pulled into Jack's story as well.
Overall, fun to read and a break from heavier reads I've found myself addicted to lately. One review for all five of these books.
I had a strong feeling that Lisa Suzanne would have some twists and turns in this latest instalment of the Vegas Aces and I was right! Lisa delivered exactly what I needed in this fourth installment; drama aplenty and plenty much needed romance.
Luke and Ellie's story is equal parts amazing and frustrating yet oh so addicting! Not only do they have off the chart chemistry but they've completely sucked me in with all their drama and secrets. And I suspect there’s still so much more to come and so many things that will eventually come to light.
There is big cliffhanger at the end of this one so saying I'm anxious for the next installment is an understatement! This series is so addictive and each book leaves me wanting more. I seriously cannot wait for the next book to see what happens next!
* Please note- this review is for the 4th in the 5 book Vegas Aces series and is not a standalone. This series needs to be read in order. Possible spoilers could be revealed if you chose to continue. *

The heat is definitely ON as Hot Luke and Sexy Ellie burn up the pages of Waiting Game, book 4 in the addictive sports romance series- Vegas Aces. Ellie and Luke have carved out a path forward but its seems the obstacles are getting harder and more complicated to work around. So many pieces to this puzzle, with tons of unanswered questions for me to want the details of! Lisa Suzanne, you are such a tease...killing me here but I know I'm NOT the only one!!!
As the story picks up again, there is a BIG surprise waiting for those smirky haters that want to take a wrecking ball to Luke and Ellie's plans...wait til you see the end result! Talk about priceless paybacks, what a perfect flip off!! I cheered for their win and said 'Yesssssss, take that, you blankity blankin' blanks!!! Their blissful adventure keeps getting better and sweeter as the sexy times are flowing in Luke and Ellie's steamy whirlwind relationship. Swoonworthy and delicious they were and worth the wait to see those reluctant hearts finally beating as one.
Back to their new reality and Ellie has her work cut out for her between running Luke's PR and learning the ropes of what it means to be a football wife in the Vegas Aces world. Meanwhile, Luke batters his body in camp and focuses on proving his worth to keep his top spot on the team. Friends, family, ememies and liars are all part of this crazy hamster wheel while Ellie and Luke have to figure out who is with them and who is hell bent on ruining their happily ever after. Sometimes it's hard to tell! Tissues are recommended for this unimaginable cliffie and one thing is certain- Luke and Ellie's future is turned upside down and has become a waiting game in every sense of the word!! Will their marriage take a hit or survive the fallout?? This book is definitely the best of the series so far and I'm dying for what I hope will be the thrilling conclusion of of Luke and Ellie's hard won love story. The last book, End Game needs to be mine...right NOW, that is if my heart can take the final ride with this crazy pair in this rollercoaster of a series!!
I read an advanced copy of this book and this is my unbiased review of it.
I’m not even sure where to start. This book continues to take me on this rollercoaster ride of emotions and I’m never sure if this rollercoaster will even stay on the track!! The second wedding was brought up short the last time we seen Luke and Ellie. Luke’s family is just as toxic as ever. Ellie also finds out that there is this big secret and Jack and Luke are holding on to which keeps her on the outside and Michelle is still in the picture with Luke’s supposed baby that she is carrying. Now at the very end a life changing event happens that left me with my mouth hanging open.
Whew!! If that isn’t a lot to deal with this series just digs deeper and deeper with so many unknowns. Now I’m one book away from knowing what happens to the couple I’ve come to love and I cannot wait for it to see if Luke and Ellie will find the HEA that they deserve. This is such a great series!!
It takes a quarter of the book to remember the characters and story line of the previous books and why you cared. I actually would give it a four and half stars....the half off for allowing Michelle to move in.
So you may want to wait until Lisa boxes the books together....
These books are so chaotic I'm obsessed. I am still absolutely perplexed that the entire series was broken up into five books and I still find it absolutely unnecessary (two books, max) but I'm invested. This has been one crazy soap opera nightmare story that keeps somehow getting more outrageous with each book and I cannot wait to see how all of this magically wraps up in the end.
I'm convinced the heroine is delusional (and borderline would be a stalker?), and the hero is losing his damn mind, but it's fine. It's all fine. I support all of it. Bring on book 5 and let's wrap this season of WAGs up.
I have loved every minute of this ride. Thank you so much to Wildfire Marketing for the review copy.
If this is your first installment of the Vegas Aces series, stop and go back and read the first three installments or you’ll be lost. I don’t believe the author intended these short reads to be standalones and they all end in cliffhangers. Of course if you start at the beginning you run the risk of possibly not caring enough about Ellie and Luke to read this one. I’m really not sure why I’ve kept reading this collection of novellas? Even though its centered around my favorite sport, professional football I’ve found the first three books mediocre at best. I think part of the reason may be the author writes for a younger audience with different tastes. At any rate I’ve invested my time through three novella length stories to stay with the saga of Ellie Nolan, now Ellie Dalton and Luke Dalton, so why not see the series through to the end? I truly enjoyed this book and was surprised at how quickly I came to the end. It’s fast paced and we quickly get off the “Does Luke love me, do we have a future and why won’t he fuck me?” loop we seem to have been on since the first installment in the series after the guy Ellie had a one night stand with turns out to be her brother’s BFF, best man at his wedding and the guy he arranged to have her stay with while he’s on his honeymoon. FYI this entire series is told from Ellie’s P.O.V. As the last book Fair Game closed Ellie and Luke’s wedding is interrupted by Michelle Bennett, Luke’s ex who claims to be pregnant with his baby. This book picks up where the last left off. As we know Luke had actually arranged for he and Ellie to get married earlier in the day as a pre-emptive measure thinking his brother Jack or someone else would attempt to disrupt their public nuptials. This wedding was just for show. After dismissing Michelle's interruption and proceeding with the wedding and sitting through an uncomfortable reception with Luke’s dysfunctional family Luke and Ellie return to their hotel room. Luke does a 180 degree turn and confesses to Ellie that he really is in love with her and is tired of pretending he isn’t. Ellie after weeks of living with Luke and fantasizing about having sex with him again, finally gets laid. Everything is wonderful until Luke wakes up the next morning and tells her it was probably a mistake. This guy could give a girl whiplash. Then he apologizes and explains he only said it because his other relationships have been such a disaster he’s used to them having a one year or less shelf life so his knee jerk reaction was to push Ellie away again. But he swears he loves her and wants to make their marriage work. They have a lot of sex. Things are going wonderfully until Ellie agrees to allow Michelle to move in with them after it somehow slipped Luke’s mind to tell her that he and Michelle had discussed it and that Michelle just assumed it was okay before he had a chance to talk it over with Ellie. Somehow he also forgot to mention he had planned on having Michelle and the baby live with them after the baby is born so he can be a real father in its life. It seemed to me that every time Ellie stood up for herself or Luke to Michelle, Luke chastised her for it. His fear of pissing off his team’s owner who is Michelle’s father really started to grow old. I mean, yeah, he’s spent his entire career playing for Vegas but their hardly the only team in the league. The guys a Pro Bowl veteran receiver plenty of teams would be thrilled to add to their roster. How much shit are you willing to swallow to remain on the team? Then there’s the issue that even at his age he’s stuck his head in the sand when it comes into planning for his post NFL player future. The Luke character is really beginning to grate on me. The problems with Michelle aside everything is going great in their relationship until disaster strikes leaving us with a final cliffhanger we’ll just have to wait a couple of weeks until the final installment in the series comes out to see how it all plays out.
Waiting Game (Vegas Aces #4) by Lisa Suzanne is part four of a contemporary sports romance series and ends with a cliffhanger. It's told entirely from the first person perspective of the female main character, Ellie Nolan.
This book picks up where the previous one ended with Luke and Ellie's Hawaii wedding and Michelle interrupting the ceremony to try to stop them. Despite many objections, Ellie and Luke get married and find another place to honeymoon, away from Luke's toxic family. Things finally turn the corner in their relationship, and although they have a one-year contractual marriage agreement, Luke finally opens up and admits his true feelings for Ellie. But they don't get to spend much time together before Luke needs to go to training camp and preseason games begin. During this time, Ellie begins to settle in and get to know some of the other pro football wives. But Luke and Ellie aren't in the clear yet. His pregnant ex, Michelle, is still around to wreak havoc along with his trouble-making brother, Jack. What else could possibly go wrong?
I loved the fourth installment in Ellie and Luke's story! It was great to have Luke and Ellie finally on the same page about their feelings and ramping up their sexual chemistry again. This tropey series is so much fun! Full of endless twists and drama! I'm addicted, and can't wait to find out what happens next in the final installment!
The wedding is over. The honeymoon can begin...right?
Hot Luke and Ellie-Belly made it through their wedding in Hawaii and are immediately swept up into more drama than either of them expected. And coming home to Vegas gives the two of them an unexpected hurdle to jump: Aside from training camp and the fundraiser, Michelle is back in their lives and forcing Luke to choose between Ellie and Michelle's unborn baby.
But what twisted secrets are being kept between Michelle and Luke? And what about Jack and his sneakiness? Why the rivalry between the two brothers, and the intense hatred? The veiled threats as well- that's something that has Ellie on her haunches, ready to fight for her husband. And what will happen to Luke during the football season? If he's injured, the season is over, and his career is in jeopardy. But if Luke doesn't prove his worth, his season is over, also.
What will happen? You'll have to read it and find out. I DEVOURED this book in an hour! <3
I don't even know where to begin with this! I will start out by saying this is by far my favorite book in the series besides Home Game! This book was worth the waiting game (pun intended)! This book brought a rollercoaster of emotions to the point, I wanted to throw my kindle, so buckle up & triple bubble wrap your kindle for this! I had to set my kindle aside for a while to deal with the emotions (to provent me from throwing my kindle)! Ellie is so good for Luke! She's truly everything he was missing! They are so good together! Their connection/chemistry is amazing! I am so invested in this series, in the story, & all the characters! They completely consume my mind & I can't stop thinking about everything that has happened up until now! I can't wait for the final book! No other series has ever affected me like this has! I highly recommed this series! You will truly be hooked from the first page until the last wanting more after each cliffhanger! This was book #8 of the year for me!! #EllieandLuke #VegasAces #BrothersBestFriend #FootballWife #WaitingGame #Book4
Wait just a cotton pickin' minute .. Lisa Suzanne you CAN NOT let me hanging like that?! Can you?! Oh yes, you most certainly did! The 👑 #queenofcliffies 👑 reigns supreme! This book, heck this entire series is filled with drama, that has sucked me in and has totally consumed me! I'm totally invested in H🔥T Luke and Ellie! #teamDalton I'm not typically a person who hates, but I'm on the edge of flipping for this complete and utter dislike of so many of these characters. It's like there's a village of supervillains getting in the way of Luke & Ellie's HEA! Jack, Michelle, Carol, Tim, Savannah, .. I'm debating on whether to include Kaylee, but I feel her heart's in the right place. Luke just needs something or more importantly someone ... enter Ellie!!! 💕️ ❤️ 💕 ... to go right for a change! That ending though?! I'm left slack jawed, wondering how any of this will play out! And I'm counting the days for the release of book 5!
This installment of Luke and Ellie's story gives us so much relationship development and I'm super here for it. I love getting to see Luke and Ellie be real with each other and put their feelings out in open for each other. I loved it! Waiting Game also had a lot of Michelle and like... Ellie, you are way more patient than I would ever be... The ending broke my heart. I'm so sad for Luke and worried about where this will take their relationship.
I just wrote all the most vague stuff ever, but just know, this is the forth part of Luke and Ellie's story and by this point you know and love them, you're invested in them. I cannot wait to see what Lisa brings in the final part, from the way this story ends, you can definitely tell it's going to be full of drama and emotions and I'm ready!!
This review will seem like a jumble, but I cant say much as it will just give away the story… ☹
I was really happy that it seemed that Luke and Ellie were getting along better than the last book and was actually trying to make a go of things 😊
Oh man if I could I would seriously Bitch Slap Michelle. She tried everything to get between Luke and Ellie. I never liked her and just know she was is up to something. And Jack really, I don’t even know how he and Luke are brothers…
This book was filled with Oh my What the heck moments, and especially that ending, I was definitely in shock, and I have to say I need the next book like ASAP!!! This book’s title was definitely spot on…😊 Cause I feel all we do is Wait for what happens next😊
I was so glad to see Luke and Ellie getting along better and both working on their marriage. I hated how Michelle is trying to get between Luke and Ellie. I don’t trust or like her, and I feel she is up to something. I feel Michelle is working with Jack against Luke. I don’t understand it or how Jack can be so cruel to his brother. I didn’t want to put the book down. Something happens at the end that breaks my heart. I can’t wait for the last book! I strongly encourage you to read the book. I was given a copy and voluntarily wrote a review.
I really like Ellie and Luke’s relationship in this book. I like the honesty they are (mostly) showing each other. They are really communicating and it’s great to see their relationship blossoming. The symbolism with the contract was great.
That being said, Ellie still somewhat annoyed me in this book. She was strong and assertive with Michelle and Luke’s family, she was confident and competent running Luke’s fundraiser, and she put herself out there emotionally with her new husband. However, she also made stupid decisions in regards to Michelle, had childish attitudes towards Luke, and her “am I even going to still be here in a year?” uncertainty. I get that there is uncertainty, but I just found it a bit repetitive at times.
And Luke, what happened at the end?! You were doing so great buddy! Why Luke, why?! I know something awful is happening right now but do not push Ellie away. There was so much progress between the two of you.
Also, I do not like Michelle. What a manipulative woman. I am crossing my fingers that this kid is not Luke’s.
So do I have to like Jack now? Is he doing that thing where bad guys do horrible things but then have a redemption arc in the last few pages? I do not want a redemption arc. Do I? No, I don’t.
And what are the secrets?!! What happened the last time?! What could end both Dalton careers?! Are Ellie and Luke going to be able to get through all this?!!
Get me some rope and a harness while I just hang out on this massive cliffhanger. How is this all gonna wrap up in book 5?!
I’m sorry what? You’re okay with your husband’s pregnant ex nobody can stand moving in with you? And it’s ‘okay’, because you were going to have it happen after the baby was born anyway? Aah…. This is not a thing. This is never a thing. And the whole gifting her thousands of dollars anytime they have an argument is super uncomfortable to read. Apologies require words and action, but this is straight bribes.
I really liked this part of the story. I felt like I could take a breath and enjoy married life with Ellie and Luke. But buckle up butter cups, because the story starts to get more drama towards the middle and that cliffhanger has me dying for the last book. I have no idea how this is going to end up because it has been pretty unpredictable.
Book 4/5 Vegas Aces series (must be read in order)
Super quick, fun, light hearted read. The series has been perfect to get me out of my slump!
I really like Luke & Ellie. Ellie is so strong, idk how she puts up with all this shit, but LS writes in a way that doesn't make any of the drama super annoying.
The series really didn't need to be 5 really short books. She could have made them into 2 books of she wanted too, but definitely not 5. It's very annoying. The story was good. We get drama and spice and some sport too. There are a ton of tense moments, but over all it doesn't justify the book to be on its own. Free on ku.
I have to say, it's rare that I read an entire series and give each book 5 stars, but Lisa Suzanne has nailed it with Luke and Ellie and I am here for it! We're seeing some real progress for these two, but come on already, what's the motherfluffin' secret?! I mean, some questions are answered, especially about the past, but there are still quite a few that haven't been addressed. This entire series to date has kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to know what was going to happen and each installment ends with one helluva shocking cliffhanger, and this book does the same, and now we're all just waiting for the End Game!
Should've seen that revelation coming. I still don't like Jack. There better be some redemption before I'll be able to read his books. Some crazy went down in this book, but it seems Luke and Ellie are on the right track
The drama is unfolding in full force and that’s keeping me glued to my earbuds. Many questions are getting asked and answers anticipated. The battle of the wives adds some intense drama, and I am here for it! What an ending, definitely upping the ante for the final book. Loving the drama!
