Rate this book
MP3 CD Format In 1943, a powerful hurricane ripped across Martha's Vineyard and destroyed the Historic Cliffside Hotel. Now, a broken, long-time realtor who has lived on the island her entire life sells the old acreage and building to a passionate developer--and finds healing, love, and light along the way. Kelli Montgomery spent the previous twenty years in a loveless and abusive marriage. Last Christmas, after her brother, Andy, arrived home after decades away, she finally found the strength to leave her husband--but as anyone who's ever been through such trauma knows, what happens next--the healing process, the rebirth which is the hardest, and most grueling part of healing. Years ago, Kelli and her ex took over her parents' prosperous real estate business. Now that Mike has officially left the island, the work has fallen on Kelli's shoulders. Naturally, she is struggling--even as the rest of the Montgomery and Sheridan families do their best to hold her upright and give her all the love and care in the world. A seasoned developer and his son have arrived on the island and have their eye on the Historic Cliffside Hotel, with dreams to build it back up into one of the most prosperous and beautiful resorts the island has seen since the ‘40s. Lucky for them--Kelli and her parents still have the blueprints for the old hotel--which means its previous beauty and allure can be restored. As Kelli falls deeper into the project, she finds herself lost in a daydream of hopes--and ultimately healing the cracks in her soul.

A Vineyard Rebirth: The Vineyard Sunset Series Book 9 is by Katie Winters. Once more, Katie returns to Martha’s Vineyard and the Sheridan and Montgomery families.
Kelli has returned to Martha’s Vineyard and her family after her divorce from her ex-husband Mike. It has been a bitter divorce; but she finally gets sole possession of the real estate company that had been in her family for a long time. Now she just had to make a go of it. One place she really needed to sell was the old Aquinnah Cliffside Overlook Hotel. In 1943, a hurricane had hit the island and the hotel had been a victim. No one had rebuilt it and it needed someone with imagination to rebuild it to its original beauty. So far, there were no takers. Then, Wes Sheridan invited Mark Van Tress to their fourth of July dinner. He heard about the haunted hotel and expressed an interest. He and his son wanted to open a hotel on the island and this intrigued him.
Just when things seem to be going in the right direction for a sale, Kelli’s ex- husband calls. He hints that she needed to recheck the records and make sure the Sheridans really owned the hotel and had the right to sell it. Kelli and her family have to dig back into history to 1943 and the hurricane to discover the secret about the hotel.
Like her other books, Katie had struck a homerun with this book. I actually think it may be the best of the series yet.

I thought this was one of the best books in this series. It has Kelli looking into things happening with her ancestors in the 1940’s and, wow, does she find out a lot. Very entertaining read. My thanks to Katie Winters for sending me an ARC ebook.

Rating as a movie: PG-13

Songs for the soundtrack: "Bodak Yellow" by Cardi B., "Don't Bring Me Down" by Electric Light Orchestra, "Sappy" by Nirvana

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️¾🏰🏝

My thoughts: Another prequel I couldn't place the setting for a few chapters. This story has a dual timeline that features the grandfather of the girls. It wasn't a bad story I think it was better written than the past books but the past should have been labeled better.

Recommend to others: Sure. This series is getting better.

A Vineyard Rebirth begins set in 1943, on Martha's Vineyard at the Cliffside Hotel. It is owned by Robert Sheridan, and there is a wannabe property developer staying there with his young wife. He treats her terribly and she turns to Robert, quickly falling in love with him. Robert sells the hotel to her husband hoping that they will stay on the island and he will still see his love. The same day they sign the papers, a destructive hurricane hits and destroys the hotel. Jump ahead to the present, and Kelli Montgomery, is now running the family real estate company after her ex-husband Mike has left the island. A seasoned developer, Mark Van Tress, and his son have arrived on the island and have their eye on the Historic Cliffside Hotel, with dreams to build it back up into a prosperous and beautiful resort. Just as Kelli is ready to make the deal she gets a call from a lawyer representing the family who apparently owns the property that her family thought belonged to them, so the deal is put on hold. As they investigate, the rest of the story comes out, and along the way, Kelli finds that she is attracted to the son of the buyer and wants the opportunity to get to know him.

In previous books we learn about he verbal and emotionally abuse that Kelli suffers at the hands of her husband Mike. She finally leaves him after her brother returns to the island and she is not struggling. Not only is she running the family business, but she has her own boutique that her daughter is managing. In this book, she is healing and is surprised to find herself attracted to a man. I enjoyed how the family investigated the mystery, reading journals and diaries that were written back in 1943. This book showed how strong the Sheridan women are, both in the past and present. With the family rallying around, not only do they learn more about their ancestors, but they help Kelli deal with all the changes in her life and find her happily ever after. Another enjoyable story in the Vineyard Sunset series.

The Vineyard series.

This series is so wonderful! It tells the story of Martha Vineyard ‘s residents that have had multiple family members on this Vineyard for decades. It traces their roots and tells the story of modern day relatives.

This installment of the Vineyard Sunset Series highlighted the Aquinnah Cliffside Overlook House, which is as essential a part of the book as the main characters. There is a beautiful juxtaposition of the past (1943) and the present. The main character, Kelli, runs a real estate business and meets Mark Van Tress, a possible buyer for the Aquinnah property. What strikes me most about this book is how women - past and present - are able to be fierce and reinvent themselves. Being too dependent on a man can have its shortcomings. In the entire series, women are able to understand their flaws and fallibilities and move on to become more self-sustaining. I loved the intricate plot and found this edition to be one of my favorites.

Loved this book In the Vineyard series. The author does a great job mixing present and past story lines in this book. As Kelli is once again the solo real estate agent, she is struggling to sell an expensive piece of property, a once beautiful luxury Aquinnah Cliffside Overlook Hotel. The reader is treated to a glimpse into the way the crumbling hotel worked in 1943.

As the storyline progresses more information comes to light about the history of the Sheridan family and Kerry and Wes’s family.

The reader is treated to gatherings of all the Sheridans and how the family works to support each other.

Thank you to the author for this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.

I really enjoyed this installment of the series. It starts off with Kelli and the real estate company - trying to sell an old hotel that had been in the family for years. You see Kelli learn about her family history from the 1940s which was shocking but just shows how strong the women of this family have always been. Great story.

A Vineyard Rebirth the 9th in the Vineyard Sunset Series is phenomenal! I believe it is the best in the series! We do meet the present day Sheridan and Montgomery families as old friends. However, we get another story of the original Sheridan family, told by Marilyn Peterson Sheridan as the present Sheridan/Montgomery families continue to live in the present! in A beautiful story as the present and past come together!

More romance and more mystery. Great continuation of the folks on Martha’s Vineyard. Enjoy the new characters who helped solve the hotel’s history and rightful owners. I received this arc for an honest review.

Overuse of phrases should have Bern caught by editors

Love these stories but...
Katie Winters creates believable characters with some romance and intrigue. I've read 9 of the 10 books in this series and have found , discovered something in the telling that editors should have corrected. The repeated use of certain words and actions often distracted Mr from the story. It would be interesting to know how many times bottles of wine being opened accompanied opened a scene,or how many times the phrase "she buzzed her lips " was used for several characters. Another overused description was "he waggeled his eyebrows".

I listened to the audiobook. While the story is decent, and the dual timeline story is interesting, I just could not connect to the characters in this character-driven story. I'm sure part of it was the narrator. All the men had the same voice and cadence, and all the women had almost the same voice and the same cadence. But the secondary romance of Kelly and Xander fell completely flat to me. Probably could've used more time to flesh it out. And things throughout the book were resolved too easily or behind the scenes. It's like the author felt there had to be a page limit, and with dual storylines both stories suffered.

4.25 stars. These reviews are out of order because I just realized I never wrote one for the book before this. Oops......

This book was interesting because it gave a glimpse into the backstory of the Sheridan family, unknown to most of them and ironic once you heard the story. You'll see what I mean. Kind of a history repeating itself thing for Kelly. That part was cool.

I liked the story well enough, and it was nice to see another of the Montgomery cousins featured but it wasn't earthshakingly remarkable. At least there was less nostril flaring and only one appearance of Christine's famous croissants.

A Wonderful Love

Once again Katie Winters has outdone herself. This series "The Sunset Series" are they best books I have ever read. They take you to Martha's Vineyard with the Sheridan-Montgomery clan. This one took us back to the beginning and the present. Although Wes and Kerry's parent's love was a forbidden love it was a love you would search for, it was the live that holds these families together. You will not be able to put this book down.

started out as a forbidden love

Just finished A Vineyard Rebirth. Kelli Montgomery has been through a lot in her life. She decides to take over her parents real estste business. She is trying to sell the historic Cliffside Hotel. A story about her family unfolds in this book. The book goes from the past to the present to really make the story come alive. Katie Winters has such a fantastic way to bring her characters and story alive for her readers. This is such a great series. It is on to book 10 and the story of another Sheridan or Montgomery family member. What a FANTASTIC series.

Although this book has many of the same elements as previous Vineyard books, I was a little disappointed. The storyline was good; the characters were okay; the plot twists and turns just didn’t really seem up to par. And the HEA? I was really glad to see it. Don’t let me stop you from grabbing a copy…it fits the series too well to be excluded. (I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book and am really on the fence…you should read it yourself.) ❤️

In this book we get the history of Wes and Kerry’s parents and it is beautiful.

It’s sad there is so much tragedy in the Sheridan and Montgomery families but I think all families have a lot of tragedy. It’s just in how you handle it. You can let it tear you down or you can rise from the ashes stronger than before.

Narrator Errors!

The story was the best of the series so far. The narrator is becoming more sloppy with each book. I don’t understand changing a central character’s name from Lola to Lolo! In the preceding book, the murder victim’s name was completely different between the written edition and the narrative.

History of passion and life

This was well written and brings up points that I think we all tend to forget as life sometimes moves faster than we are prepared to have move. Life is simple and reflections of history bring us to today.

Sheridan & Montgomery past and present

Can the past really affect the present? How are these two families stronger because of the love of Robert and Marilyn from the past and the decisions they made.

One of my favorites so far of the Vineyard series. I was mesmerized as the reason for going back and forth from 1943 unfolded. Couldn’t put it down.
