Professor Nur Masalha is a Palestinian historian and formerly Director of the Centre for Religion and History at St. Mary's University, Twickenham. He is Editor of “Journal of Holy Land and Palestine Studies”: http://www.euppublishing.com/journal/hls, published by Edinburgh University Press. He is the author of many books on Palestine-Israel. His current work focuses on religion and politics in the Middle East, oral history and social memory theory, subaltern studies, new Palestinian and Israeli historiography, the Bible and Zionism, Holy Land toponymy, Jerusalem archaeology, theologies of liberation in Palestine and Life-Long Learning in Palestine.

عرض تاريخي وثقافي رائع عن تاريخ التعلم في فلسطين عبر العصور، يضيء فيه مرة أخرى البروفيسور نور مصالحه بقعة ضوء على التاريخ الفلسطيني الذي تمّ إسكاته وتجاهله.
في هذا العرض يقدم مصالحه لائحة بأسماء المدن ومراكز التعليم وإنتاج المعرفة التي كان لها تأثير في فلسطين وما حولها، ويرسم الكتاب منحنى بيانيا يعبر عن التفاوات في دور وأهمية التعليم واهتمام السلطات السياسية به عبر العصور. وما نتج عن ذلك من أعمال، ويقدم كشفا بأسماء أهم العلماء ورواد التعليم الذين عرفتهم فلسطين عبر عشرات القرون.

أتمنى أن تتوفر ترجمة عربية لهذا الكتاب قريبا.

ملاحظتي الوحيدة (وأتمنى أن يتسع لها صدر البروفيسور مصالحه)، هي أن كتابات يوسفوس فلافيوس لا يمكن الاعتماد عليها كمصدر موثوق للتاريخ الفلسطيني حتى نستنتج منها حالة التعليم في فلسطين، فلا اﻷحداث التي ذكرها يوسيفيوس ولا الجغرافيا التي وصفها في كتبه يمكن أن تكون مرتبطة بفلسطين.

أنصح جدا بقراءة هذا الكتاب الرائع.
