Good to Be Bad
tells the story of Gigi James and Weston ‘West’ Byron, who after meeting on a night out of fun and games, end up having a one night stand. Unfortunately they soon discover they’re competitors not only with their businesses, but are going to be competing against one another in a food competition.
With Gigi focused on her career business, she can’t help but see West as the enemy. Even though her feelings and desire for him tells her otherwise.
With West not being able to get Gigi out of his mind, he will do whatever it takes to convince her to give him a chance and prove he is not the enemy.
But will Gigi give him a chance after having been burnt a lot in the past?
Though there were a lot of similarities to Gigi and West in terms of their passion when it came to their work, their love for their family, enjoyment with board games. At the same time they were different too, especially with their backgrounds.
Gigi having grown up in a household that didn’t have her feeling loved from her parents and so always spending time with her grandmother, brother, cousin/best friend Ruby and her aunt and uncle.
Born and raised in England, West having grown up in a happy household, amongst his three siblings and parents who were there for him, his brothers and sister Abby. Always showing and giving them love and support throughout.
I enjoyed getting to know and learn about Gigi, she had many different sides to her personalities. She was sweet, smart, kind hearted, competitive and a perfectionist as well as quirky especially when it came to her antics. But at the same time she was soft, emotional and vulnerable given her insecurities when it came to relationships. Considering how she had been hurt in the past often.
The fact that though she never had the best life growing up. She always did everything in her power to bring happiness to others, which you couldn’t help but love.
As for West, he was definitely the handsome, sexy and charming typical Brit with the accent to boot.
But just like Gigi, there was a lot more to him. Especially given the way how loyal, loving and caring he was towards his little sister Abby and always putting her first.
West and Gigi were definitely a match made in heaven, not only because of everything that they had in common. But the fact that they always were willing to put each others needs before themselves. Plus can't forget about their physical chemistry! It was OFF THE CHARTS FIRE! Being able to give and take as much as the other! They were both definitely freaks between the sheets when it all came down to their sensual prowess.
I have to say the story in the beginning went from 1-100 like a freight train, which I did not expect at all. But it made it all the more alluring and intriguing to see how the rest would play out.
My main issue was the build up to the climax and the climax itself, if you can even call it that. I just felt there was nothing really there, with it being over in the blink of an eye. I guess I just expected and preferred a little more explosion and drama to give the climax that oomph it needed to make it bigger and stronger.
With that said, I still enjoyed reading this Meet-Cute, One Night Stand leading to much more, Frenemies-to-Lovers story of Gigi and West in
Good to Be Bad.
I think Lauren Blakely and Lili Valente did a good job overall with this book. Especially that Epilogue, it definitely had me cracking up with laughter since I didn't expect that at all!
