Description
•Tang Han Qiu’s Perspective•

Tang Han Qiu is the daughter of a business giant and is controlled by an invisible force, forcing her to become a vicious female supporting character, constantly chasing after the male lead who she particularly despised, constantly tripping the innocent female lead, using every means and effort to become disgusting and annoying.

In this regard she said to herself: I can’t stand it anymore, let me go, thank you.

Then she was reborn, not only reborn, the power that controlled her also disappeared – she could control her body!

– Male lead? Sorry, I don’t like this s*upid man. Get lost immediately, thank you.

– Female lead? Sorry… … wait! How come the female lead is different?

Now the current prosperous main heroine – the superstar Yu Ru Bing sat opposite her, smiling like a flower while looking at her.

“President Tang, would you consider keeping me?”

“The price is not expensive, a piece of candy is enough.”

•Yu Ru Bing’s Perspective•

Yu Ru Bing inexplicably transmigrated into the female lead, and mysteriously tied a system.

Then she gloriously became the most rebellious and favorite host.

Not only did she refuse to cooperate with the system to do tasks to make Tang Han Qiu turn back into a vicious female supporting character, she was keen to troll the system, and hates the system.

As long as she can drive the system despondent, then she’ll be happy.

In order to be happy, she the female lead in the presence of the female supporting character Tang Han Qiu became a career fan, committed to make Tang Han Qiu better and better.

The system was so angry, it couldn’t stop her, and everyday it was in a despondent state.

It’s just Yu Ru Bing this career fan, this front, has deteriorated.

Giving this 4 stars out of respect of the original plot premise, the development of Yu Ru Bing and Tang Han Qiu's relationship, and Yu Ru Bing's character, but I had a good amount of issues with the book, namely the pacing and the amount of time spent on the system? Though I am grateful that the author really fleshed out YRB and THQ's relationship and showed them getting closer, some parts were just a struggle to get through, IDK if it was because I don't really love entertainment novels and was expecting more system and transmigration stuff, but yeah that's why I felt like the second half of the book was such a chore to get through, save for these couple of chapters towards the end where they kind of wrapped up all the system stuff unfortunately.

Also the author really loves to hammer it in how white-skinned all her protagonists are, like I get it once or twice but it felt like disturbingly too much, I had to constantly take breaks because it just made me mad like we get it you like your characters white-skinned, can we move on.

(high 3 ⭐️) read up to ch. 138 out of 210

This is my second baihe novel that I read, and to an extent, I see why it’s a high, safe recommendation to starting baihe readers. It’s a solid introduction to the transmigration and system concepts, the main couple are strong when united AND apart (especially Yu Ru Bing, ESPECIALLY her lol), and i love that they stand up for and get along with the other women and young girls in the story despite their assumed roles in the narrative. The story used the typical narrative of the role of the dominant, rich lead versus the more innocent, poor lead as the foundation for its comedy and subversion of tropes. It’s easy to understand narrative-wise. The novel uses a lot of culturally-relevant internet slang that non-Mandarin speakers like myself won’t understand, but the English unofficial translator who translated the novel (bless you!!!) did a great job on crossing this obstacle with context.

I did stop reading almost halfway through the novel, unfortunately. This book does drag with heavy filler that doesn’t feel well-incorporated with what I expected, which was the main conflict with the system and the plot that Yu was forced into. Once I arrived to the part after ZHONG Sheng He got what he deserved and where YuTang finally(!!!) realized their feelings for each other after so much hesitation, that feels like the best conclusion. Qiu Yun Li is lightyears away from being relevant as that was seemingly resolved long ago, and the system(s) as obstacles just don’t feel like issues anymore. Yes, 008 is questioning himself, but for what? Nothing’s really happening, and what had caused Yu to become erratic was easily resolved with a kiss from Tang, there’s no real stakes from the system. They get away with a lot, I would’ve expected more pushback since they’re purposefully deterring from the roles they’re forced to fill. The sparkle value is brought up from time to time, but if stakes aren’t worsening things then it’s just meh. On the bright side, YuTang interactions live rent-free in my head, as well as the Tang family, Yu’s idol cohorts and HanWen!!! HANWEN!!!!!! ❤️

Overall, it’s a good start to baihe imo. I’m assuming there are better baihe transmigration and system novels, but the blossoming romance between Tang and Yu might feel slow at times, but it’s pretty worth it. The netizens’ comments about them got me weak. This cast really does have memorable moments, they really do have to deal with Yu’s crazy yet entertaining banter 😭, I love it.
