Rate this book
Welcome to Grand Lake, Colorado. . .
Where the men are hot, alpha, and a little downright dirty.

A collection of small-town romances . . .including:

Book #1: My Crush's Brother
I’ve been hopelessly in love with my best friend for ten years.
Not just in love…I’ve saved myself for him.

Now that he’s back in town it’s my chance to finally tell him how I feel.
And what better way than to sneak into his cabin at night and go for IT?
“I’ve wanted you so badly. I…I’m a virgin and I want my first time to be with you.”

But the moment I tell him my secret and our lips touch I realize…it’s not my best friend I’ve just come on to.
It’s his grumpy older brother who just happens to be my new boss.
*-*

Book #2: Hate You Forever
Whoever said forgive and forget never met Memphis Styles.
The cold-hearted prick who stole my innocence and broke my heart a decade ago.

Out of sight out of mind is too damn hard now that he’s back in town, determined to ruin my life all over again.

I swore to myself a long time ago that I’d hate him forever, but the moment our lips touch—that all goes out the window.

I hate the way I still smell his damn cologne when he isn't even there.
I hate the way I still look for his car when I drive by his mama’s house.
I hate the way I forget he broke my heart every time I look at him.

But what I hate the most...is that as hard as I try, I don’t hate him at all.
*-*

Book #3: Falling for the Sheriff
All I wanted was a fresh start when I came to this town.
Instead, I ended up on the hood of the sheriff’s car.

Considering he’s my boss, this has mistake written all over it.
I tried not to notice the way he fills out his uniform (if you know what I mean).
Or the way his eyes undress me as I walk past him.

The sneaking around and hidden secrets are all so exciting until he's offered a transfer and I'm left picking up the pieces of my heart.
*-*

Book #4: Single Dad Dilemma
Falling for Carson, the new hot single dad in town, wasn’t part of my plan.
And getting pregnant with his baby is just the icing on the cake.

The day he walked into my bakery I knew I was in trouble.
A few stolen kisses and one sweaty night in the sheets and lust quickly turned into so much more.

He’s made it clear he’s not ready for more, and I can’t just be a bandage for the wounds left by his wife’s death.

I thought I could just walk away but when two little pink lines show up, I realize everything is about to change.

This collection of four stories was a pleasant reading experience. Each story had a different twist, with the first two stories involving two best friends. The stories include tales of losing one love but finding another; having a lost love come back into one’s life; falling in love the new sheriff; and a bakery shop owner healing a grieving father’s broken heart.

A Quartet of Small Town Tales of Love: Grand Lake, Colorado

In the hustle and bustle of today’s world, it is nice to think that somewhere there is a place where people know each other and wish each other well. Alexis Winter’s small Colorado town of Grand Lake is filled with a community of individuals who are working together to create a place where everyone is welcome, even those who have made mistakes and bad choices. And, it is filled town filled with love—sometimes misplaced, sometimes mis-timed, and sometimes healing and sometimes a second chance. This is a collection of heartwarming tales of small town love.

My Crush’s Brother
Learning to Love the Other Brother

The transition from childhood to young adulthood is filled with unseen traps as hormones and emotions mix without any real method of sorting out what emotions are real and which are transitory. Cute strawberry blonde, blue-eyed Pearl Davenport had been best friends with Trevor Winthrop since they were 7 years old, and if asked, she would confess—but not to him—that she loved him. And, she did, but young emotions are at times not clearly distinguished. “Love” is love, and as a young adult, distinguishing the nuisances of romantic/sexual love from the platonic love might not be clear.

And so, at 18, they went separate ways with no confessions of love or commitment. Pearl went to college close by in Boulder, Colorado, while Trevor, always an exceptionally brilliant student in the areas of math and science, went to study at the University of Chicago. And, when Pearl graduated with a bachelors’ degree in marketing, she came back home to Grand Lake where there were no jobs in marketing, but there were jobs at the local pub. Trevor stayed in Chicago, working his way steadily towards his PhD. And, while he could have come home on vacations and holidays—back to Pearl, Trevor chose to accompany his first real girlfriend with whom he felt romantic love, back to her home in the eastern part of the country rather than come back to Grand Lake and the woman whom he loved platonically, best friend, Pearl.

But, Pearl was constant and unwavering in her love for Trevor, so while he asked his college sweetheart to marry him, Pearl waited for him to realize that his true love was waiting for him back in their small home town of Grand Lake. And while she waited, Pearl finally put her marketing skills to work helping Trevor’s widowed mother and his older brother, Blake, re-energize the family business of rental cabins using her marketing skills. And as Pearl works her marketing magic, crafting a website and social media feeds to promote the Winthrop rental cabins, she finds Blake a bigger, more manly version of her childhood friend. But her heart isn’t ready to break out of childhood patterns of love—and so, she still plans on Trevor being her first and only lover.

And now at 24, Pearl is finally going to have a chance to remind Trevor of the girl who has loved him for years. He is coming home to visit his mom and brother, and Pearl plans to confess her love to her childhood friend and to offer herself to him sexually. But, the more she spends time with Blake, the more she comes to see that he fits her in ways that Trevor never will.

Alexis Winter tells a tale of first crush that gets mistaken as first love. Pearl’s heart has to grow up in order to recognize the nature of adult love and to be willing to let go of dreams of childhood for the reality of mature sexual love with the other brother.

Hate You Forever

When All the Pieces of the Puzzle Fit

Some people are content and fulfilled with the people and life of a small town; others must leave the tight confines of a small town feeling unable to stretch and grow under the close, but loving eyes of generations of family and friends; those individuals will never be content until they explore the world and its offerings.

Jade Seymore had always embraced the life of Grand Lake, her small town. She thought that everything and everyone she loved and needed resided within the confines of Grand Lake. So, when Jade Seymour gave her heart and body to her high school love, Memphis Styles, she was confident that they would marry and live happily-ever-after. She had no idea that 10 years would pass before she would see his green eyes again. Although Memphis had a football scholarship to college, he had other ideas of how he would live his life on his terms, and it seems that those terms did not include Jade. So, without telling Jade that he had changed his plans for college and had chosen to enlist in the military to see the world and to sort out what he really wanted in life beyond their small town of Grand Lake.

It has taken Jade years to accept Memphis’ leaving and rejecting her love. Once she was able to accept that he had truly rejected her, she had tried to find another love to replace him, but her efforts have been futile. So, for the last 10 years, Jade has worked at the local veterinarian’s office, cared for her aging mom and hung out with friends like Pearl Davenport who, while she left their town for college, had come home live in Grand Lake.

But after 10 years, even the most faithful girlfriend has to have questions about the promises of love that were whispered in her ear by Memphis, especially when their only contact has been his random Facebook posts featuring him in exotic places with other girls. So, Jade had dated other men and had tried to find the love she had once felt in Memphis’ arms, in the arms of other men, but with no success. And recently, using a dating site, she has finally connected—even though long distance—with a man—Paul—whose work has led him to Argentina. And, over the last several months they have shared much of their hearts during their chats. What Jade never anticipated was that Memphis would return, and while her heart still hurts from his rejection, it also still sparks when he talks to her, and especially when they kiss. And, just as Jade’s relationship with Memphis begins to reignite, Paul, the man who has offered her heart hope over the internet, has travelled to Grand Lake to meet in person with the woman who has touched his heart and soul. What’s a girl to do?

Alexis Winter tells a tale of young love that struggles to live through time and distance. Jade’s heart must live on hope until the reality of returned and present love to her world.

Falling for the Sheriff

Fate and Shared Dreams of Love and Family

A big city is a cornucopia of opportunities and experiences which enrich lives, but the same size and options can also have hidden challenges and even danger, not to mention time consuming commutes. In contrast, small towns offer a sense of community and belonging balanced against limited opportunities and career choices, sometimes necessitating relocations to other places to find employment.

Nina Waters benefited from the life of growing up in the large city of Denver. Abandoned as an infant, it did not take long for the baby to be placed into the loving and nurturing care of doting parents. With the supportive love of her older parents, she grew into a beauty with long dark hair and blue eyes. But the darker side of the city revealed itself when her parents were the unfortunate victims of a bank robbery that ended in tragedy with their deaths and other bystanders and bank employees when the robbers’ explosive device detonated as police officers rushed the bank.

Now, Nina has moved to Lake Grand, a small town located a short drive from Denver where she serves as the IT officer for the local police department. As a girl of the big city, Nina has surprisingly quickly and happily embraced the close friendship and support of new acquaintances. And, she has begun to plant roots in the community. She has recently purchased a small, one-bedroom cabin on a mountain located just outside of Lake Grand.

But, as an employee of the local police department, she has become aware that Lake Grand is not perfect. The small community has few activities and supports for the adolescents of the town. And, without options or activities to fill their time in a productive manner, they are getting into trouble. So, for the last year or so, Nina has nurtured a dream—she wants to use the money she inherited from her parents’ death to positively impact her new community. She has investigated the possibility of establishing a youth center which could not only provide physical activities to support the youth’s undirected energies, but also assist with SAT prep and college applications. And she has created plans, an interactive website and a presentation for the city council introducing her ideas.

Bryce Moore, one of Lake Grand’s newest citizens, has recently moved to accept the position as Chief of the Lake Grand Police Force. He has come from Denver as an honored and respected member of the Denver City Police Force. But he has had enough of the big city life; he experienced firsthand the darker side of the city when he was badly wounded in an attempt to stop a bank robbery. Now completely recovered, he has reflected on the difference between life as a police officer in Denver and as one in Lake Grand. And he has made a choice; he had decided that staying in a big city like Denver meant that he had to accept the dangers and challenges of policing; he would have to accept that the people he met would not care if they hurt him. He had decided that he did not want to live his life in fear or dread every time he donned his uniform and badge.

When Nina asks Bryce as her new boss and Chief of Police to support her quest before the town council to endorse the construction of a youth center, a bond of common cause and romantic interest is initiated. While both are drawn by the life of style offered in Grand Lake, the couple come to recognize that their lives have more points of connections than shared social goals.

Alexis Winters explores the twisting threads of love, common goals and unknown encounters that weave together the lives and two individuals who are more connected by fate than might be apparent.

Single Dad Dilemma

Love and Cupcakes

Violet knew what it was like to flee the disappointments of life and to drift towards new beginnings. Her childhood had been filled with drifting and relocations after the death of her mother. And, even as a child, she knew that her dad was flawed—battling his drug addiction—but she never doubted his love and devotion to her, his only child.

Now, as an adult, Violet has chosen to settle in Grand Lake, a small town located not far from Denver, Colorado. And, she is living her dream and passion—she owns a small house and is the owner-operator of popular bakery with the help of Jane, her assistant. And while each day starts extremely early as the baking process repeats daily, Violet is content and fulfilled.

When Carson Evans, successful Chicago lawyer, and his preschool daughter, Margo, relocate to Grand Lake from Chicago, Carson is fleeing the pain of his shattered life and dreams. With the death of his college sweetheart who became his beloved wife in a car accident, the only thing that keeps him moving forward is the product of his sweet shared love—his daughter Margo. Now, relocated far away from the life he and Katie had created. He is trying to regroup and start over in a new place with a new career as a boat builder, a passion of his youth.

When a new resident, a single dad and his young pre-school daughter find their way into Violet’s bakery, love and fate bring together two motherless girls to make a new family. Alexis Winter offers a sweet tale of a second chance at love and to build a family.

Alexis Winter combines sweet buns and sweet dreams of family as two souls who have been buffeted by life find a safe harbor in the arms of each other

Grand Lake Colorado Series

Four Books Included

My Crush's Brother

The beginning of the book started off with a really good description of Trevor and Pearl and the basis of their relationship. The basis of their friendship and reason behind their long-distance "friendship relationship" was both sweet and sad. The way they parted as best friends saying goodbye, see you later was sad because Pearl felt in love with him.

Although Blake came across as an a%& when he is first referenced, his description and interaction with others make you like him, nonetheless. Pearl’s decision to work with the family business and the first few interactions and issues she/they experience was good storytelling and fun to imagine. I’m not sure how I felt about Pearl’s confession/confirmation to Blake about her feelings for Trevor or that she asked him to take part in it.

Loved Chapter 7….Jade telling Pearl how “….tired and pathetic” her feelings for Trevor are and her feeling hurt about Pearl not being happy about her new relationship with the online guy. The conversation Blake had with Trevor was really good, to the point, and handled really well by both brothers. Good writing and I liked that Blake made it clear that he felt obligated to insist that Trevor be mindful of Pearl’s feelings when he talks to her about her confession.

Chapter 10 and 11 was fantastic. Great writing about couples getting "together" with real descriptions that can be imagined and physically possible:)

Chapter 12 is great. Sad confrontation and yelling with Blake and Pearl but fabulous talk between brothers. Fabulous writing.

Hate You Forever

Didn’t think I would like the premise of a girl forgiving a guy for leaving her for no real reason. Because the first story was so good and written so well, I figured the reason for Memphis leaving was going to be something extreme and understandable, like a family tragedy or he was forced to leave by Jade’s dad, or something. But leaving just because it was a small town and he didn’t see much of a future was a little disappointing. The description of how in love he was with Jade would make me think he would ask her to leave town with him to make a better life for them together. But the writing from Alexis is so good that it makes sense on a level that makes you root for them. The conversations and verbal interactions between all the characters are really good. The writing of conversations between Jade and the Paul the internet boyfriend is great. Memphis’ conversations with his dad is wonderful. Also, book contained good intimacy descriptions.

I loved when Memphis asked his dad for advice and his dad said, “I just told you how badly I fucked up, and you’re still asking me for advice?” Classic.

Falling for the Sheriff

I don’t have much to comment about on this story because it was such a quick, straight to the point story. There was not a ton of characters involved in the story and Bryce and Nina were very private people with a very private relationship. Oddly enough, it was one of my favorite quick reads because it reminded me of myself. I enjoy stories like that because you don’t find them often and it felt very personal. The personalities of the characters were great in that they functioned in a manner that was very private and efficient, but they were comfortable in it. The way they connected, their conversations and straight, to the point admissions of their thoughts and feelings. I love that. One of my favorite parts of the story was their first time together and the descriptions were fun to read. Makes you a little jealous of Nina Also, the fact that no matter how their life would change if Bryce decided to take the job in Denver, Nina was clear about her intentions to maintain the relationship and be a family/partner to with him. My most favorite part of the story, though, is the fact that the two of them had such an intense connection. A connection that was very symbolic for them both and it had great meaning because it involved her parents and his survival from a tragic event. Just a really nice, fun, and quick read that told a nice and simple story with great meaning. Nina’s contribution to the community…beautiful.

Single Dad Dilemma

Conflicted – Carson and Margo have exactly what Violet is looking for and Violet is providing all that they are missing. Feelings of replacement, but also comfort and peace with things they both need and want. It just seems like she put so much work into the relationship while this father was able to sit and nurture his feelings, build his boat, etc. While I absolutely feel that his particular type of recovery is beyond important, I think I feel like Violet got the short end of the stick. I think it would make me feel better about both of them in this relationship if he was experiencing feelings of moving on. He was still dreaming about his past in a way that meant he needed to leave serious relationships alone.

Maybe a couple more meetings or even a date before he kissed her? Not necessarily seeing it as “intimacy” happening too soon, just weird timing.

This set is amazing! Four wonderful love stories about the small town of Grand Lake Colorado.

My Crush's Brother - First up is Pearl and Blake. Pearl and Blake's younger brother Trevor have been friends forever and Pearl has loved his just as long. When they go off to college, they go their separate ways and don't stay as close as Pearl would like. Her heart is crushed when Trevor admits he's engaged. Now Pearl is back in Grand Lake and Blake comes looking for her. His mother owns some cabins and she would like Pearl to help with the social media and marketing. She is thrown up close and personal with Blake. It's rough between the two of them at first and when she makes an embarrassing mistake one night thinking Blake is Trevor, Blake enjoys teasing her a bit. Eventually, Blake will tell Trevor the truth about how Pearl feels and Trevor will tell his brother he never felt that way for her. An argument one night will have Blake telling Pearl that Trevor doesn't and never did love her. Only, she has already figured that out. A surprise romantic night will backfire on Pearl when Blake shows up at home with his ex. Without letting him explain, Pearl takes off sure everything is over. In the end, though, Pearl will realize the depth of her feelings for Blake and she will head out of state to find him and let him know. This will lead them to their happily ever after.

Hate You Forever - Next up is Jade and Memphis. High school sweethearts, she is broken hearted when he leaves without saying goodbye. Ten years later, he is back home and wants a second chance. Jade isn't sure she can give it to him. She has been talking to a guy named Paul for the last six months and she thinks there could be something between them. Until Memphis works his way back into her good graces to get his second chance. Paul showing up unannounced will throw a bit of a wrench into things but as much as she'd like to give it a go with Paul, she knows her heart truly lies with Memphis. This will start them down the path to their happily ever after, just like they both always imagined.

Falling for the Sheriff - This is the story of Bryce and Nina. He has come from Denver to be the new sheriff and she works IT for the department and is dreaming of building a youth center. They meet his first day on the job and they are drawn together from the very beginning. But since he's kind of her boss, they know they can't give in. It doesn't take long before they realize they can't stay away from each other and start a relationship, although behind the scenes. They also share a past. Her parents were killed in a bank explosion back in Denver. Bryce was in the bank that day and her father saved his life after he was shot. A night spent out of phone range helping an elderly man will leave Nina at home scared something happened to him. She worries she may not be able to deal with it. Once she gets the center built, she leaves the police station and the two bring their relationship out in the open. It's going well until his boss from Denver comes back to offer him the Chief of Police job. Nina is supportive of whatever he chooses but in the end, he chooses to stay with her, in their little town where he can be sheriff, she can run her youth center and they will have a nice quiet place to raise the family they dream of.

Single Dad Dilemma - This final book is the story of Violet and Carson. She owns the Bean and Bun bakery in town and he is a single father who has moved into town with his young daughter Margo from Chicago. He's still grieving the loss of his wife in a car accident 3 years ago and isn't looking to start a new relationship. The first time he and Margo enter the bakery, Violet is immediately taken with the little girl and her father. Soon, Violet and Margo are getting closer and Carson is having trouble keeping his attraction to Violet at bay. After two separate nights spent in each other's arms, they are determined to keep away to avoid hurting Margo should the relationship go badly. But after a month, Carson just can't stay away any longer. He has spent the last month moving on from his past and is ready for a relationship with Violet. Which is perfect timing as she has found out she is carrying his child. Their reunion is a happy one and Margo is thrilled to have Violet back in her life. As the due date approaches, Violet spends more and more time with Carson and Margo and when baby Will finally arrives, Violet is living with Carson full time. A visit from his parents shortly after they arrive home with their new baby will bring a proposal for Violet that will bring her everything she has ever wanted out of life.

My Crush's Brother - Since returning to her hometown after college Pearl is still looking to make use of her marketing expertise. Whilst working a shift at The Place, Blake comes in and tells her his mom wants to see her after her shift. Heading over to the cabins she's excited to be offered a part-time role redesigning the website and setting up social media accounts etc. Working for her childhood best friend Trevor's family.

Renovating the cabins for the family business is hard enough without having to babysit his younger brother's best friend. Blake is attempting to get everything up and running so he can get back to his construction business. When Pearl asks him about Trevor he is annoyed by the childish/high school games of it all. Attracted to each other Violet and Carson fall into bed with each other, twice, until Violet puts the brakes on things. Carson still needs to grieve for his wife and the life the had and lost when she died. A heartbreaking choice but one that needed to be made. The Grand Lake Colorado Series by Alexis Winter includes the complete set of 4 romances that take place in the small town of Grand Lake, Colorado; My Crush's Brother, Hate You Forever, Falling For the Sheriff and Single Dad Dilemma. All of the books could be read as a nice little stand alone, but when you have the entire series right there in one convenient package, why on earth wouldn't you just dive in to all that Grand Lake has to offer?! Each book falls just under 100 pages each, so they are each nice easy little reads but you don't feel like you are missing anything really thing in the story despite their short length. Alexis' character portrayals will make you laugh, swoon and feel the heat as you follow each couple on their journey to find a HEA.

In My Crush's Brother we meet Pearl and Blake. Pearl has been in love with her best friend Trevor for years, time and distance had done nothing to change her mind. So when Trevor comes home and is suddenly single, Pearl sees it as a sign that this is the time to prove that her love for him isn't so unrequited. Blake is Trevor's older brother- he is big and moody and has hired Pearl to help market his family's cottages and bring in more business. The more time they spend together, Pearl starts to realize that she may have more real feelings for Blake. Blake has been hurt before, and has known about Pearl's feelings for his brother- so can he really trust her with his heart?

Hate you forever is a second chance romance. Jade hates (or at least she really wants to) her ex boyfriend Memphis- he took her virginity and then left town without another word or explanation. 10 years later he comes back to Grand Lake and has every intention of making Jade his again. Memphis broke her heart and her trust- he says that he will never leave again but how can she be sure he actually means it this time?

Falling for the Sheriff is an adorable chance encounter type story. Bryce has just accepted the position of sheriff in the quiet little town of Grand Lake- also needing to get away from all the noise, crime and stress of being in a city like Denver. What he didn't expect was to find a quiet, beautiful and alluring little IT tech named Nina. Nina moved to Grand Lake after her parents passed away- she needed to get away from the city and needed a quieter place to call home. Despite their efforts, Bryce and Nina can't seem to keep away from each other and even discover that there is something in their tragic pasts that they both share, but will love be enough to help them pull through all that life has to throw at them?

And finally, Single Dad Dilemma is the story of single dad Carson moving to Grand Lake to create a new, slower paced life for him and his daughter Margo after the tragic passing of his wife. Violet is the sweet bakery owner, with her own tragic and unstable upbringing, that simply finds herself feeling an overwhelming connection to Margo and Carson after they happen upon her bakery. Fighting their attraction to each other for the sake of Margo, Violet and Carson start to become friends. But can they keep fighting the attraction and can Carson finally let go of his guilt and let go of his wife's memory to create a new life with Violet?

Four Exciting Pleasure Filled Reads -

My Crush's Brother

Realising Their Feelings ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Pearl has had a crush on Blake’s brother since they were in high school, but one unfortunate mishap makes her realise it was just misplaced infatuation. Blake made the decision to stay away from relationships following his heartbreak, but spending time with Pearl, makes him rethink that decision. This is a beautifully written story, about two people who are scared to acknowledge their feeling for each other, which nearly costs them being together. I really enjoyed the plot, however, there are quite a lot of typographical and grammatical errors, as well as missing words in the book.

Hate You Forever

The Thin Line Between Love And Hate ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jade thought her life was settled, when the guy who broke her heart ten years prior returns and upends it. Memphis returns home after ten years and realises that he had not gotten over the love he had for Jade. The push and pull between these two during their journey to a happy ending, makes this story really entertaining, but it also showed them that they were always meant to be together. The most important lesson Memphis learnt was that patience and communication is the key to success. Jade on the other hand, learnt that she couldn’t run away from what was meant to be. You will really enjoy reading this scintillating drama and passion filled story, but most importantly, you will be recommending it.

Falling for the Sheriff

Finally Finding A Life Worth Living ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
When Bryce and Nina met for the first time, they weren’t aware that they were already linked, but they felt the chemistry between them instantly. This story has got serious off-the-charts chemistry, that will have you rooting for Bryce and Nina to have all their dreams come true. It is steamy and entertaining, with a riveting storyline, that ensures you won’t be able to put down, once you start reading it. I will definitely recommend this book for your reading pleasure.

Single Dad Dilemma: A Small-Town Single Dad Romance

Sealing The Hole In The Hearts With Love ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Carson wanted to start a new life when he moved with his daughter, but he was still finding it difficult to let go of the past. Violet had given up on finding happiness outside her business, but her life changed when a spunky, cute little girl walked into her bakery. This book broke my heart and then subsequently healed it. The story was well crafted and the characters had an undeniable connection, which was solidified with their surprise. You will not be able to stop reading once you start, as it is a story that will make your heart sing with joy.

I truly enjoyed reading each book in the collection and couldn’t put it down once I started. This should be your choice for your Saturday relaxation and pleasure.

Excellent series that you will love. So romantically charged with drama and finding your love of a lifetime.

MY CRUSH’S BROTHER
Two unlikely souls who find each other. Pearl has had a crush on Trevor since she was four years old. Trevor‘s mom asks her to help put their cabins on social media to obtain more business. She loves her job. But her life is a mess. Who she thinks she loves and who she really loves are two different people. Can she finally come to terms with it? And how could she make such a horrible mistake. And then there’s Blake. Put them in a room together and they gravitate toward each other. But they can’t seem to get their timing and their communication right. This book will have you clutching your heart and sighing, it is so, so good. True love makes you feel that way. Great book. Just enough drama to keep you on the edge of your seat and then so much love your heart will overflow.

HATE YOU FOREVER
He left her and she’s never forgotten that. She won’t let it happen again. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Memphis ghosted Jade after taking her virginity. That was 10 years ago and now he’s back in town. They both still love each other but Jade cannot get over how he mistreated her, left her, broke her trust and her heart. Can she forgive him? Will he stay this time? Lots of unanswered questions. Excellent book. I love it when a man grovels because he knows he was wrong in the first place. Such a wonderful happily ever after.

FALLING FOR THE SHERIFF
There’s just something about a man in uniform. Yum! Nina‘s new boss, Sheriff Moore, is a dropdead gorgeous man that gets her body tingling, but she can’t date him because he’s her boss. But that can’t stop two people electrically charged with each other. A toe curling romance that will warm and bless your heart. Excellent!

SINGLE DAD DILEMMA
Two lonely people who find each other at the exact time they are supposed to. So magnificently romantic. Carson is still torn over his wife’s death and moves to a new small town to start over again with his daughter, Margo. They both meet Violet at the bakery shop and the dynamite starts to happen. Margo absolutely adores Violet and Carson can’t keep his hands to himself. The guilt he feels over his wife outweighs the desire and love he has for Violet. Both Carson and Violet are drowning in regrets and what could be. Violet’s tears will have you crying too. But hold on, this book has the most magnificent happily ever after.

More goes on in a small town than you think and the four stories in the Grand Lake Colorado series was an excellent way to get to know this town. The first book is about Pearl who has loved her best friend, Trevor, most of her life. As she is hoping to get his attention when he comes home for a visit after breaking up with his fiance. But is he really the right brother for her or is his older brother, Blake, the one for her? She does some growing up and to find love, two of them will have to go outside of their comfort zones. There was a bit of drama, some small town events and steam.

The second book is about Pearl's friend, Jade, and her high school sweetheart, Memphis. Memphis takes off the morning after taking Jade's virginity and stays away for 10 years. She's been in an online relationship with Paul for six months. Memphis decides he is going to get her back but Paul comes to see her. I loved the football mascot scene. It brought the small town feel even more into the book.

Book three has Bryce arriving in town from Denver to become the sheriff after he was shot in the line of duty and almost died. Nina has worked in the Sheriff's Office as their IT person for two years, coming there after her parents were killed. She has dreams of opening a youth center to give the kids in town something to do. They are drawn together immediately but shouldn't explore things while she works with him. Their chemistry is explosive though so how can they resist? he needs to share something that ties their pasts together but will it make a difference?

Bakery owner, Violet and single-dad Carson, meet at her bakery when he and his daughter, Margo, move to town following his wife's death. Their relationship progresses in a backwards way but both of them always have Margo's best interests in mind. Carson has to work to get over the loss of his wife if they ever have a chance at being a family.

I enjoyed all the books. Two of the books were about couples who'd know each other growing up and two were couples that had just met. All the stories had chemistry and steam in them. Discovering what was most important to them was also a recurring theme throughout the series but it all boiled down to love.

I really loved reading Grand Lake Colorado Series by Alexis Winter because it was a 4 book series about getting a second chance. The first book, My Crush's Brother had Pearl and Trevor. They were best friends and Pearl always had a crush on him, but never said so. Blake was Trevor's older brother and Pearl and Blake were around each other recently. I loved their story because it was a slow burn of a relationship to come together, but they were perfect for each other. There was some past drama that Blake had to deal with, but this was a second chance for both of them. The next book, Hate You Forever had Jade and Memphis. They were high school sweethearts, but Memphis left without a word and that caused Jade to become very angry at him for a long time. He had come back and wanted to make right what he had done wrong, but Jade wasn't having any part of that. She was in an online relationship and there was some drama in this story as well. I loved the two of them together because they were great for each other, but Jade needed to trust Memphis. The third story was Falling for the Sheriff with Nina and Bryce. Nina worked at the sheriff's department as the IT lady, but her dream job was opening a center for kids so they would have something to do and not be bored. Bryce was the new sheriff in town. They were smitten with each other, but because of work really couldn't act upon those feelings. But it was very hard for them. The last book, Single Dad Dilemma had Violet and Carlson. Violet owned the bakery and Carlson and his daughter Margo had just moved to town. Margo immediately loved Violet because she was nice and gave her treats. Carlson had a rough time dealing after the death of his wife. Violet was like a breath of fresh air that Carlson needed. They both had a very hard time staying away from each other. I loved all of these stories because they all needed and deserved a second chance at love. I would highly recommend reading this boxset. It will definitely give you all the feels!!!

Emotions are complicated, words are exchanged, and it all results in hurt feelings. Eventually all is resolved and the couple obtain their HEA.
It’s a bit of a roller coaster relationship that ends beautifully.

Four novellas, each one is a great read with beautiful HEAs with each couple.

1) Crushing on the Wrong Brother - Growing up as best friends, Pearl has a major crush with Trevor but he thinks of her as a sister & nothing more serious. His older brother, Blake makes her face reality that Trevor will never see her as anything more than a friend. Pearl opens her eyes & her feelings are re-directed to Blake; realizing there's a love connection between them. Blessings from Trevor of Pearl becoming his sister-in-law.

2) Hate You Forever - Jade & Memphis hooked up as teenagers & he vanishes after taking her virginity. She misses him & once he returns 10 yrs. later, she's angry at the way he left & lets him know it! Once they agree on being friends & put the past behind them, then they'll be able to follow their hearts & get their HEA.

3) Falling for the Sheriff - The new sheriff in town is 5 stars hot. A goo story to read. The way things work out between Nina & Bryce will bring a smile to your face while reading through this novella. One of my favorites out of this set.

4) Single Dad Dilemma - Carson & his daughter, Margo are new in town. Violet, is the town's baker. Carson lost his wife in a horrific car accident & he's feeling guilty about this period of his life. Violet & Margo are becoming closer & get along with each other quite easily. Carson has to decide if he really wants to have Violet in his life & to be Margo's stepmom or to let her go. Once he's able to come at peace with his love for his dead wife then he'll be able to focus on being surrounded by the living, to enjoy the rest of his life with his daughter & Violet. This is my 2nd favorite novella. It's on the shorter side of a story but it still tugged at my heart-strings about his grieving period & to let go of Kate, his 1st wife.

My Crush's Brother
I really enjoyed reading about Blake and Pearl. Pearl has had a long time crush on Blake's younger brother. When she hears he is coming home, she asks Blake to put in a good word for her. But as it turns out, Blake and Pearl realize that they have an attraction to one another....an attraction that they can't seem to get enough of. They both have their thoughts about why they can't last, but what they really have are feelings for one another.

Hate You Forever
Jade and Memphis were an item right up until Memphis left Jade without a word. Ten years later, Memphis is back in town wanting to pick up right where they left off. Jade on the other hand is wary and talking to another guy. Jade can't help her attraction to Memphis and before she knows it they are falling into bed together. Memphis aims to prove to Jade that he will do anything to keep her.

Falling for the Sheriff
Nina works as the IT specialist at the local police department, Bryce is the new sheriff in town. They have an immediate reaction to one another and after spending some time together, one of them discovers they have a lot more in common. Will the past keep them apart or will the past hold them together?

Single Dad Dilemma
Violet owns a popular bakery; Carson is new in town, just having moved there with his daughter Margo. Margo immediately develops an adorable friendship with Violet, while Carson seems to be wary. Soon though he can't help but want to start something with Violet, but almost as soon as it does it because too much for him. Violet tells him he needs to take the time to heel. Once he does, he goes to find Violet to let her know that he is ready to move forward only to discover something about Violet. Will he come through still as being ready or will he be unsure still.

Falling for the sheriff

Bryce and Ninas story was truwly heartfelt. A women who felt like she had closed herself off from everything concocting the plans for her dreams to become reality only to fall in love with her boss the sheriff.

The stories on this boxed set will delight and romance reader. Each story features strong, true-to-life characters that effortlessly capture your attention and induce immersion into their stories. Their stories evoke a variety of reactions including laughter, sighs and groans of frustration, and finally beaming grins.
MY CRUSH’S BROTHER is Pearl and Blakes’s story. Her BFF Trevor left town years ago to attend school and has made a life for himself in Chicago. Pearl has held onto her crush all these years and when she discovers he is coming to stay with his family for awhile after his engagement ended, she tells herself that now is the time to take her chances and tell Trevor how she feels. Never mind that she has begun to notice how handsome and buff his older brother, Blake, is now. Her clandestine effort to seduce Trevor goes horribly wrong....wrong cabin, wrong brother! Working together to help make his mother’s cabin rental business more profitable puts Pearl and Blake in close proximity and both have become much more aware of each other physically since the night of that failed seduction. Their attraction is palpable to all observers, but will they act on it? What happens next?
WHEVER SAID FORGIVE AND FORGET NEVER MET MEMPHIS is a captivating second chance at love story. Jade and Memphis were young lovers until he left her immediately after graduating high school without even a goodbye. Ten years have passed, and now he is back in town after leaving the Army and travelling the world. Neither can forget how they felt about each other, and have never been able to move on with someone else. Memphis is determined to win her back, and she is just as determined to resist him. Will they become the loving couple she had always dreamed about or will hurt, betrayal and anger ruin any chance of that?
FALLING FOR THE SHERIFF
Nina and Bryce’s story is one of fated love. Their pasts are interconnected in a most unexpected way and their first meeting includes sparks of attraction. Both are aware that a relationship between them is taboo, after all he is her boss, but it doesn’t long for things to heat up between them, though discretion is a must. When she becomes aware of their interconnected past, she begins to question his intentions, and her reaction to a incident he was involved in raises questions for him too. Will they have a happily ever after or part ways?
SINGLE DAD DILEMMA
Carson is a widower with an adorable young daughter, Margo. They have just moved to town and young Margo has developed a sweet tooth that can only be soothed with sweets bought at the bakery owned by Violet. Violet’s life has been consumed by her bakery, but Margo and her handsome father have captured her attention. Casual meetings, some babysitting and a movie night soon lead to more intimate moments between Carson and Violet. Yet sudden feelings of confusion and guilt lead them both to take a step back. How does their story continue from here?

My Crush's brother - Pearl always crushed on Trevor and was always wary of his older brother Blake. But having thrown herself at Blake by mistake she becomes more than aware of how hot he is. Pearl then ends up working for his mother with Blake to try and revive the family business. Their chemistry ignites as they get closer. A satisfying start to this series.

Hate you forever -Jade, who we met in the first story, and Memphis had a drunken one night together after their school prom. He then left without a word. Ten years on he returns to Grand Lake realising he had left the most important thing behind, Jade. Despite having been so badly hurt Jade eventually decides to give him a second chance even though she is in a long distance online relationship with Paul who she hasn't actually met. Great outcome after some trauma.

Falling for the sheriff - Bryce becomes Nina's boss when he moves to Grand Lake and therefore off limits to him. Nina is set on building a youth centre for the kids in town. As they spend more and more time together they cannot fight their mutual attraction even though Bryce thinks it is wrong for them to get involved. Plus he is still hung up over his past.

Single dad dilemma - Carson, a lawyer, is a widower living with his daughter Margo. By moving to Grand Lake he hopes he will be able to work less hours and spend more time with Margo. Violet works at the small town bakery and when father and daughter meet Violet, Margo loves her and Carson tries to fight any attraction as he is still grieving for his wife. But he eventually realises he has to move on but he has to convince Violet that he is ready to do that with her. A moving finale to a wonderful series of books.

When I first started reading this story I thought that we were going to have a friends to lovers storyline where they realize they were in love with each other this whole time. But as I kept reading I realized that was not the case. This was a good story that I finished within a good amount of time, I enjoyed the characters and their banter and the humor in the story, I especially loved the happily Ever After.

Hate you forever- I enjoyed the storyline of this story as well. It had a little more past relationship trauma than the first story there was more pain to sift through, more groveling on Memphis's side, (love it when they show a man willing to grovel) you could tell they still loved each other but Jade was so hurt she couldn't bring herself to trust him. Like with any good love story love beat the odds.

Falling for the Sheriff- This was a great story about a small town romance that started out being forbidden in the eyes of others because they worked together. Bryce and Nina did their best to fight the urges but their attraction won. The lack of heart ache and drama in this was a nice change. Don't get me wrong I love a good angsty book but it is nice to have the sweet and romantic ones every now and then.

Single Dad Dilemma. Trying to move on after losing the love of his life Carson quit his job as a lawyer and moved to a small town with his daughter. He met violet at her bakery and even though he tried to fight his feelings but it was pointless. I love the Romance in this story, helping a man be able to love again

I strongly reccomend you read these stories.

If you are looking for short sweet but still steamy reads, this collection is for you. All are individual stories that each have their own HEA.

Book1: Crush's brother: I wasn't a fan of Pearl for most of the first book, but that was mostly because she was still hung up on her best friend. She had a lot of growing up to do. And she did. I enjoyed Pearl and Blake (Blake more than Pearl, I think)

Book 2: Hate you forever: Jade and Memphis. Destined to be together, but like a lot of small town kids, Memphis didn't want to just stick around and do what was expected of him. So when he leaves Jade without a word, she is furious, understandably so! 10 years later and she is still heartbroken over Memphis, but she has started on online relationship with Paul. I really liked Paul and his character...would love to read his story sometime! Of course, Memphis returns and brings all the feelings Jade has been trying to bury back to the surface.

Book 3: Falling for the sheriff: Insta-lust. Co-workers so couldn't have an open relationship. Secrets make things difficult. Stress is hard on them both.

Book 4: Single dad dilemma: This was my favorite of the 4! Carson has moved to a new small town to start a new life. He needs to move on from losing his wife and he couldn't do that in their home, so he took his daughter and moved. Violet has been searching for her HEA, but a small town only has some many guys and most she knew since childhood, but she was content with her bakery...until a new face comes in. Violet is adorable and helps bring her dad and Violet together.

Each individual story exudes such riveting suspense, captivating intrigue and intense situations, each different and unique, putting our characters through their paces, melding this gem together seamlessly. Attentive to the turbulent struggles and explosive triumphs while traversing the dramatic twists and stunning turns, broken perimeters and crushed barriers solidify as the restrictions are relaxed and tested, exposing the stunning quirks and defying bents, bursting this baby to life brilliantly. The attraction and chemistry flows with such ease, exposing boundless emotions and infinite affections, drawing our characters closer, binding them to one another perfectly. The characters are complex, genuine and realistic with traits and qualities that balance and blend, with amazing depth and diversity and enough spice to add an extra kick to the mix. Throw in 100% on point realism, raising the stakes with such graphic scenarios that are so colorfully descriptive and vividly detailed its like you're living it with them instead of on the sidelines. Incredible job Alexis, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.

Five short stories together in one book.

My Crush’s Brother
Age-gap/ BF brother - Is funny to see how Pearl is trying to get attention from Trevor (she even asked Blake if he thinks she’s got a shot whit his younger brother) only for her to realize that maybe she’s been trying her tricks on the wrong brother.

Hate You Forever
Second chance - Jade had hate Memphis since the day he took off on her without a word, but ten years later, he’s back in town and determined on getting his girl back.

Falling for the Sheriff
Office romance - Nina is the IT for the police station. Bryce is the new Sheriff in town. Do you believe in fate or that everything happens for a reason?

Single Dad Dilema
Single Dad - Violet has a successful bakery but she’s missing something.
Carson had it all, but in one night he lost half his world. He wants to move on and give Margo the best life that he can and moves to a little quiet town.
Is Carson ready to let go of Katie and give his heart a second chance with Violet?
You will fall in love with Margo’s character. She’s full of energy and she wants her Dad to be happy again.

Grand Lake by Alexis Winter consists of four books: My Crush's Brother, Hate You Forever, Falling for the Sheriff, and Single Dad Dilemma. Each one is special in its own way. All have a happy ever after. Book 1 features Pearl and Blake. They both were positive they were not right for the other. Their relationship was an off, then on, off and on again. Book 2 is Jade and Memphis. History of past love with a disastrous ending but they never forgot one another. Doomed to live in the same small town, seeing the other was inevitable. Book 3 Nina and Bryce, the new sheriff and she was the police dept. IT person.. Instant attraction. Could not date. She founded a Youth Center thus making him no longer her boss. Book 4 Single Dad Dilemma has Violet, bakery owner, and Carson, lawyer, and dad to Margo. Neither was looking for love but love has a way of finding two people who need love most. This is my favorite one.

I received a free ARC copy in exchange for my honest review. This is my own opinion and was not influenced by anyone.

The Grand Lake Colorado series by Alexis Winter is made up of four books:
Book 1: My Brother's Crush
Book 2: Hate You Forever
Book 3: Falling For the Sheriff
Book 4: Single Dad Dilemma

Each book has a different theme: brother/best friend, age gap, military, single dad, second chance. Alexis Winter does a great job making the characters likeable. The characters have incredible chemistry. She also creates the town of Grand Lake. It has that warm small town atmosphere.

I did enjoy this compilation of stories. The stories read quickly holding my attention. The stories especially Single Dad Dilemma, had heartwarming moments. I was rooting for these couples and the standalone books all end happily. I enjoyed all four stories and really think there is something for everyone.

- My Crush's Brother - I felt like we were back in high school with the girl asking the guy to find out if another guy liked her!! Of course, it all worked out great and this was a nice read!
- Hate You Forever - This features one of the characters from previous book - Jade, Pearl's best friend. Very sweet, second chance romance.
- Falling for the Sheriff - Same town, new characters! This time, though, both of the main characters were transplants from Denver with a very touching connection that they discover as they get to know each other. Very sweet love story!
- Single Dad Dilemma - Last, but not least, was this little gem. A very sweet love story between a widower with a child and the town's bakery owner.

Grand Lake Colorado Series. This series was a great look into the world of small town living. Several couples come face to face with romance. The characters fall in love but things don't always work out the way they plan. Pearl learns the hard way when she thinks she's in love with one brother, but find out later it was the other brother who captures her heart. Jade goes through changes when her rich man leaves her high and dry. But when he comes back, life changes. This series is a must read series!
