Dawna Raver didn't always want to be a writer, but now the voices in her head won't shut the f**k up and the stories keep coming.
The Indulging Series, under D.L. Raver, was her first new adult erotic romance series, and is proud that Zolt Hamil from this series was voted in top ten list of Fictional Boyfriends' top Fictional Boyfriends
When she's not spending time in her fantasy world, Dawna loves NFL football, reading, and pretending she's a top chef in the kitchen---even though experiments often lead to ordering out.
Oh, and fawning over her dogs and husband, sometimes in that order. voices in her head keep sending her stories, ranging from new adult, romantic fantasy and contemporary romance.
When she's not spending time in her fantasy world, Dawna loves football, reading, and pretending she's a top chef in the kitchen. Oh, and fawning over her dogs and husband, sometimes in that order.
For a sports-related romance, this book was well-written, the characters engaging and a storyline that feels new and a bit different from others I’ve read lately.
Filled with a mix of humor, love, heartbreak, and hope making a moving and uplifting read. It made me cheer for a happy-ever-after.
This turned out to be way more than I was expecting it to be. Jett's life is football and after a mistake (none of his fault) he ended up being benched, but he gets an amazing opportunity to move forward with his career in a move to Tennessee. Johannah's life is football, from her birth on its always been football, but that's what you get when your father and uncle are/were pro-players, it just seemed natural that Johannah also went into the business and is the team's nutritionist. Her father's career is almost at its end, and Johannah is determined to make sure that her father's goal of winning that final championship happens, even if that means keeping a few things from him. It all starts with a happen chance meeting in London, sparks fly, but Jett and Johannah both know this cannot happen, it will just end up horribly. But can they fight fate? What happens when Johannah's secret isn't a secret anymore, will she lose everything in the process? Can she keep everything together long enough for her father to achieve his goal?
So this really turned out to be way more than I expected; loads of drama, some really hot naughty bits, so many secrets being kept, the list goes on. There was a point where I got a bit tired of Johannah's need to be a martyr, it dragged on a bit more than it needed. I also realized, that with the whole Chloe situation, I would have acted like a spoiled brat, Johannah is so much more adult than I. In the end, this was a good read that kept me entertained, not sure if I will read what comes next but with Touchback I give it 4 stars.
I normally do not read a lot of sports romances. I have read them before but they are not my go to. Dawna has written a story so well crafted that I could easily learn to love the trope.
Jett is such a wonderfully flawed man that has the reputation of being quite the playboy despite actually living a fairly simple lifestyle for a pro football player. After a one night stand with what he thought was a twenty-one year old college girl, learns he slept with his coach's barely legal daughter. This results in his being benched before he gets traded to play as back up quarterback to football legend Thatcher Scott.
Watching him fight so hard between the need to be his best for his new team with the need to prove his sudden love to Thatcher's daughter, and team dietician, Johanna Thorne Scott. Johanna had her own issues to face and though I frequently disagreed with her choices, I could also understand them. Especially the misguided idea that you are doing your loved oncs a favour by hiding a major illness.
The extra story twists of revisiting Zolt and Irelyn ( I did not read their series but am familiar with it's existence) as he is Jett's agent. Plus the backstory of Johanna's mother, the hidden love story going on in the background of her best friend, and everything else leaves you wanting more and yet super happy with the book you get. I can not wait to read the rest of this series
Jett Taylor is an incredible quarterback but one mistake costs him two years of sitting on the sidelines. When an incredible opportunity comes for him, of course, he takes it. Only it comes with a complication: Johannah Thorne Scott, the daughter of Kyle Thatcher, a legend quarterback, and his upcoming mentor.
The heart wants what it wants Jett and Johannah try their hardest to focus on the goal: the championship. Still, their feelings grow rapidly and they can't stop it.
The vicious cycle of lies... Unbeknownst to everyone, Johannah has kept a secret about her health. A big secret that endangers her life. When the secret unravels, so does every other lie resurface to light.
The plotline is very well-written. I was taken on the journey of finding your true love, hiding a secret so big and the deception you weave in the name of love, and the unraveling of those secrets. This is such an emotional book that I am so glad to pick up. Johannah and Jett IS the endgame. I am just happy to see they get their well-deserved HEA. The side characters are also intriguing, Thatcher and Chloe, Caroline and Thornie, it will be great to read their story.
Overall, I truly enjoy reading the story. Highly recommended

Loving the Whole Cast of Characters in this Football Romance Sports romance – particularly football and hockey, for some reason – is one of my favorite tropes. I could pretty much read them back-to-back and never tire of them. I love the sports talk, the behind-the-scenes drama, the angst that always seems to go with them, and everything in between. My favorite thing about Dawna Raver’s “Touchback” is the characters. Jett Taylor is an up-and-coming pro quarterback, and he is predictably hot (I mean, come on – pro athlete!), handsome, and somewhat arrogant, with a bit of a hidden awkward side that was surprisingly charming. Johannah Thorne Scott is the daughter of football royalty – gorgeous, driven, intelligent, and completely wrapped up in her beloved father’s career. She’s a bit self-sacrificing, which I found frustrating at times, but it is entirely in character. The two find that they have a connection from the moment they lay eyes on each other, and their chemistry is off the charts. The remaining cast of characters – family and friends both in and out of the sports world – are fun, relatable, genuine people who truly do add to the story…so much so that I’m hoping for some more stories. I’d like to see them get their HEAs as well! Nicely done, Ms. Raver!
I seriously love some football in my romance, and Touchback certainly provided that in original ways to boot. Jett was at the top of his game in college which landed him the highest award a player can win. Johannah is centered on making sure her father goes out on top in his football career, to the point that she's keeping an illness that killed her mother on the downlow so she can make sure that he does. Jett & Johannah have serious sparks from the jump, and since the chemistry is so potent, they started on a secret affair after he came to be the backup to her father. This is a story that took me on an emotional ride that may or may not have had my eyes leaking a time or two as Johannah was pretty much suffering in silence even as she got worse so have the tissues at the ready before you take on this beautifully moving story! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
What a surprisingly unexpected second chance romance, though I wouldn’t necessarily say this was your typical second chance, unless of course if you were counting Jett’s second opportunity to make a name for himself in the AFL.
Given I’m a sucker for sports romance, especially football, I was genuinely shocked with how this story panned out. Jett and Johanna were both captivating and vividly relatable. The punches thrown throughout were well thought out and delivered at the right moments.
What Jett and Johanna share is an indescribable connection right from the beginning, that continues to grow. Their desire for one another was felt through the words and will bring you to your knees to pick your heart from the floor. Both of these characters personalities were strong and desirable. Five stars to Dawna and looking forward to Thatch and Chloe’s story!
This is a well written football romance with strong characters in Johannah and Jett as well as the secondary characters. The author does a great job developing the story and bringing out all the emotions , both happy and sad as she delivers her story . moving it fluidly with her vividly painted scenes. I loved and would recommend this book.

I absolutely loved Touchback! As a huge fan of romance and football, this was the perfect combination. Johannah and Jett jump off the pages, packing huge punches of personality and character. I found them both to be very relatable. Even the side characters are vivid and captivating! This book literally had all the feels! It made me think, laugh, cry and so much more. This was my first book by Dawna Raver but will definitely not be my last!
Sweet, and yet so frustrating! I spent half thre book wanting to slap sense into the characters. Jet loves football so much, but is so, SO quick to risk throwing it all away like he doesn't care about it at all! It's like he purposefully does what he knows he shouldn't, instead of even trying to fight it. Then there's Johannah, who certainly can't be praised for her decision making skills. Who the heck would put themselves at risk like that, when it's the same thing that killed your mother? Please, make it make sense! A lot of the "chemistry" felt forced, including the added on bits with Thatcher. This story was, sadly, more frustrating than it was good.
Hey, genteee!
This is the 1st in a new series and the 1st time I have read any of this authors work, and I will certainly be looking out for her work in the future. Johannah idolises her dad and is determined that he is going to end his football career at the top of his game. Jett’s football career is in jeopardy after a drunken mistake and he is benched because of it, so when he is offered the chance to back up veteran QB Thatcher Scott he jumps at it. From the moment Jett and Johannah meet the sparks fly, but she has had a tough time as well as suffering from an illness which her mom had. These two start a secret affair, but how long can they hide their true feelings? This is a well written emotional roller coaster which has engaging and realistic characters, amazing secondary characters, and has witty banter, which all leads to a humorous, entertaining, and steamy all-consuming tale. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
Good sports romance that follows Jett, the bad boy of football and Johanna, the princess for the legendary Thorne-Scott football family. A chance meeting in London, with instant attraction and dynamic chemistry follows them back to the states as Jett joins the Nashville Warriors and Thatcher, Johanna’s father become his mentor. Lots going on in the story-Johanna’s illness, Thatcher probable last season playing football, overprotective family keeping secrets from each other and the secret relationship between Jett and Johanna. All is revealed at a charity ball for a foundation in Johanna mother honor when her illness gets the better of her and she almost doesn’t survive. Will the choices she made to see her father’s career first, be the wrong one. Story ends HEA but you are still left with a few questions unanswered.
I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Jett and Johannah have an emotional roller coaster ride from the moment their eyes meet. He has been given a second chance for his dreams and career when suddenly another obstacles stands before him. She has an agenda that she is set on, regardless of anything else, until he arrives. These two have a lot of good and bad decisions to make after they can no longer deny their attraction. Through the whole story football is front and center. Johannah and Jett are perfect together. Their future together is fueled by the love they share

It was okay. Johanna was facing a medical crisis but refused to deal with it because it would be her father's last year playing in the AFA. She didn't want anything to derail his chance of winning a Championship ring. Johanna's father was a quarterback. He selected Jett to be his replacement. He bought Jett in early to mentor and train Jett. Jett and Johanna met in a bar one night and was attracted to one another. At first they fought their attraction but eventually gave in and had a relationship in secret. It all comes to a climax when Johanna is rushed to the hospital and has to have the surgery she was putting off until after the football season.
This is a very good book. I do feel it is a bit longer than it needs to be. While it never drags, I am a fast reader and it took me a couple days to finish, which is unusual for me. Jett and Johanna are a great couple. So many secrets and lies going on in the entire story through the end. The biggest enemy is growing in Johanna’s head and she keeps it to herself for a very long time. There are a few very funny moments too. All the different relationships are interesting to watch.
I really enjoyed this book despite Johanna’s decision-making skills with dealing with her health. The plot was good. The storyline flowed smoothly throughout. I loved the characters. I loved Jett and Johanna together. I could feel their chemistry. I’d love to read Zach and Irelyn’s story. I’m still interested in reading Thatcher and Chloe’s story despite not liking her.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book.
Get the Kleenex! So many tears in this one. My heart broke on more than one occasion reading this one. Jett and Johannah were meant to be but so many people tried to keep them apart. They knew from the beginning they were going to crack and be together, even though they had to hide it from so many people. There was so much love and sadness throughout the whole story with so many people.
Don’t be fooled by the title - no football knowledge necessary to enjoy this!
This was such a sweet book. A hot romance but also some good insight into grief. It made me smile, laugh and cry. And there’s a lovable stubborn jerk of a Husky, which anyone who knows the breed is dead right and hilarious.
I really loved Jett and Johannah's story. It was a fantastic instalove story full of drama and was a roller-coaster of emotions for them. This was the first story from Dawna that I have read and I will definitely be reading more from her.

I wasn’t the biggest fan, almost DNF. The characters lack of even the slightest bit of self control and inability to keep themselves accountable was unbearable. Then there’s the cliffhanger with the best friend. Some weird plot holes and the MCs lack of common sense were frustrating as well. I stuck with it because I rarely DNF.
Sports romance with a HEA. This book is fantastic if you like this troupe, brilliant characters, heart warming story and of course a HEA, definitely recommend this book!!

Johannah and Jetts story was full on. Lies hurt so many people involved but eventually they got a hea. I was worried how it would end half way through.

I am afraid I have to agree with Kayla's review: meh and frustrating. I also lost count of how many times the word "daddy" was used, which was really annoying and made the characters sound childish. Concept ok, execution much less so, the disease storyline was too unrealistic.
