John Miller must die . . . TONIGHT! Megan Kemp initially went to the Penderson Mansion to collect a debt. But from the moment she stepped in there, getting back outside proved extremely difficult. And then what had merely been difficult for Megan suddenly turned deadly. Because something was going on in the Penderson Mansion that night. Five VERY ANGRY women had a score to settle, and no obstacle on earth would stop them. . . . And no one would get in their way and live to tell the tale either. "John Miller must die," the women had decreed, and it looked like the forces of Hell would help them accomplish their deadly aim tonight. But as the night progressed, Megan, who was now trapped in a deadly game of cat and mouse in the Penderson Mansion, found that despite her own troubles, her biggest question "What the hell did John Miller do to anger these five women this much?" Beware, folks . . . sometimes things really do go too far!
Wol-vriey writes eXXXtreme horror fiction, and also some surrealist stuff.
To date, he has published over forty novels in both genres.
His horror novels include: EnterPAINment, LGBT, The Virgin, Marriage, Women, Nightmare Fuel 1 & 2, Haunted House XXX 1 & 2, and How To Succeed in Life.
On the surrealist side of things, he is the author of Vegan Zombie Apocalypse, Vegan Vampire Vaginas, Vagina Mundi, and the disturbing and unsettling Dr. Orgasm.
This book consists of angry ex-wives, a husband who deserves revenge, goons, a sadistic woman named Mrs. Pain, demonology, a door to hell, and several innocent players. At a very confusingly constructed manor, many people are fighting for their lives and livelihoods. Some if them are prisoners being forced to watch Mrs. Pain's movies, labeled enterpainment. Enter a devil who likes to eat people alive. There is no end to the enterpainment and suspense until the very end of the book. It was very detailed and colorful. Just be careful which open gates you choose to enter.
I’d seen a couple great reviews for this book (Novella? Short novel? Doesn’t matter…) and knew I’d get around to reading it, but the author, Wol-vriey, offered me a copy so I read it a bit sooner than expected. Did I love it? Mmm that’s going a bit far. Did I like it? Most of the time, yes! This is a fun horror story that dips into splatterpunk - the author wanted splatterpunk for women and it was executed (ha, ha) well.
This starts with a girl trying to find her friend, David, to get some money he owes her. Megan finds only his sister, Lucy, home and decides to follow her when she says she’s going out. David might be wherever she’s going, and Megan really needs her money.
Megan follows Lucy to a mansion, and manages to get inside unseen. She finds David, but he’s ‘busy’ in the kitchen with his boyfriend and she doesn’t want to ruin the moment. While waiting for them to finish, she’s sidetracked by the need to find a restroom. When upstairs, she hears a group of women talking - and what they are talking about stops her cold.
These women are planning to make a sacrifice tonight. Their ex-husband (who has been married many times) has been bad, and they are there for revenge. They’ve been bad, too, but in their minds, John Miller deserves death. In the form of enterPAINment, a new word in my vocabulary, Mrs. Pain is there to help the group fulfill their plan, and a few plans of her own. (You can reach her at 1-800-666-PAIN for any problem, and she’s more than happy to help).
The story goes through the night in this house, in very graphic detail. Those with weak constitutions need not apply! The first half of the story was a bit slow for me, but then it got awesome. Then, it veered into witchcraft/demonology, which isn’t my thing, then that part became a dark laugh in the background and the ending was mostly awesome again. It took me on a ride that I overall enjoyed. I’m giving this a 3.5 rounded up because it got me to laugh, and to me that’s the best part of extreme horror.
Do you need some enterpainment in your life? Call Ms Pain at 1800-666-Pain. This book is the second place in my life that I've ever heard the word enterpainment. This first time was in some under belly of the internet. In this book we have a handful of angry ex-wives, all wanting to collect money off the death of their ex husband. Throw in a crazy Ms Pain who enjoys hurting people and satanic rituals, and BAM you get a story from Wol-vriey. The climax of this book was action packed and kept me guessing to the last second as to who would survive and who would die. My most fave parts were Ms Pain's videos, but the rest was cool too
I am embarrassed that it took me so long to finish this book. I can only say I would have enjoyed it more if I finished it in one setting! Still, Wol-vriey's books never fail to disappoint for a quick, thrilling, and perky ride.
In this book, get ready to get close and chummy with the stories of 5 women played by 1 wealthy man. Reading about their lives was very entertaining, especially how they all fell for John Miller and the trap he set. I swear that even if I do get jaded from all the gore, Wol-vriey's sense of humor is something I will always appreciate. I love all that bizarro.
I feel like there is a lot of potential in Ms Pain's character. Will there be a sequel to her life after the mansion was destroyed? Will she ever become a Mrs Pain and if so, what happened that made her so.
All in all, great read and great entertainment time spent. I know my review is all over the place but that's the best I can do after reading this over 6 months. (I was just so busy!)
Wol-vriey pulls absolutely no punches in his extreme horror story Women. This novel has diverse characters, diverse atrocities, and diverse (and sometimes perverse) sexual exploits, and it is all mind-bendingly, sometimes gut-wrenchingly vivid.
Women is a story of love, betrayal, anguish, hate, and brutal consequences. It’s a tale about bad decisions, poor judgement, determination, and incredible evil. Women is about women, women from different walks of life with individual personalities, all come together in one of the most extreme extreme horror stories I’ve read. It’s graphic and grisly and gruesome and a fantastic gore-filled read. It also has a cosmic horror bent, but I won’t say more about that.
Readers need to be aware that there are things in this book you won’t expect and might not be mentally or gastrically prepared for. Not only is the story well-paced and maddeningly unpredictable, the content goes places you can’t imagine it going and the characters go to extremes you don’t want to imagine. And it’s not gratuitous, it is the story.
So buckle up for the most intense literary ride from Wol-vriey yet. But check your personal boundaries at the title page.
John Miller is a wealthy playboy who constantly falls in love and marries a new woman every few years. He has a system in place that allows him to divorce each wife without having to pay any alimony, but more often than not it usually leaves the womans life in ruin.
After repeating this cycle one too many times, all of his ex-wives start to catch on and they soon band together and hatch a revenge plan. These women plan to sacrifice their ex-husband to the devil, then split his wealth between the 5 of them, but of course.....a wrench gets thrown into their plans and it all goes terribly wrong.
I must admit that I've been getting a bit tired of reading splatterpunk lately, but this book pulled me right back into the disturbing world that is extreme horror and I cant wait to read more from Wol-Vriey. The characters in this novel were great and the plot was original, so if anyone out there wants to read something that isnt the same ole boring story you've read thousand of times before, this is the book for you.
This was quite an interesting one! This book had the most gruesome and creative murder scenes I’ve ever read in a book. The author does a great job of writing sex and gore that really keep you wanting to read more. Where the book did fall flat for me was the dialogue. A lot of it felt unrealistic. One that comes to mind is when Mrs. Pain walks into John Miller’s cell and he says in his mind “Oh, heck!” Probably a thought I’ve never had when someone who truly frightens me walks into the room. That’s just one example of many. But with that being said, I couldn’t seem to put this book down! I was anxious to dive in and see more of Mrs. Pain’s GREATEST HITS. 💉. A good one to start off the spooky season with.
That was brilliant! The usual macabre humour mixed with gut wrenching, graphic, and extremely inventive killings. Fans of the author will love it. Newbies can't go wrong with this as a starter.
I particularly liked the characters Megan and Maryanne. I'm pretty sure Mrs Pain is going to feature in my nightmares for some weeks to come.
I'll admit to skim reading one scene, as it was a bit much even for my strong stomach. After reading it yourself, if you want to have a guess which one it is, send me a message 🤣
John Miller is a player. Addicted to women but incapable of being faithful. Does he truly deserve this though? Nothing good can come from exes coming together, nothing good at all. It's certainly fun to read about though.
A horrifying gruesome story of ex-wives, magic, a demon, torture and mayhem. Read in 2 days but could probably finish in one. This is a book you must read if you’re into horrors.
Absolutely amazing!!! One of my favorites gor sure and perfect for those who like gore as well as supernatural elements. Thank you Wol-vriey! Ready for my next one!
This novel is packed full of blood, sex, and revenge.
I had a hard time with the women involved in the story; for the most part because they brought a lot of their troubles on themselves. They are all mad at John Miller for how each of their relationships ended, but these women took their revenge a bit too far in my opinion.
I greatly enjoyed the different perspectives that were used throughout the book. Each of the characters got their own voice heard and Megan as an unfortunate witness to the horror was a wonderful addition to the writing.
The blood and gore of this novel took me a bit by surprise, as I wasn’t expecting so much of it. The scenes were well written throughout, though the dialogue seemed a bit wooden at times. There were also a few twists in this novel that I didn’t expect.
This is a good horror novel but definitely not for the faint of heart. Sex, profanity, extreme violence, and revenge through supernatural means permeate this novel.
I enjoyed this novel, and plan on reading more from this author in future.
