Another series which has taken too long between books causing a bit of confusion. For me, the muddling happened between the current husband’s name and the first husband currently inhabiting the body of a high school teacher, causing him to have two identities depending on who is interacting. If that confuses you, and it can, then you must start at the beginning to follow the wacky adventures of Kate and her demon-hunting past and present.
The downfall of this book is the editing and continuity. Since this book is a full release and not an ARC, there were way too many missed issues (time frame, repeated words, repeated descriptions, missing words, etc.).
Will I come back for the next book, “How to Train Your Demon” (2022), most definitely since the humans, and their humor, make the editing flubs bearable, annoying, but bearable.

The family is back home after their Rome adventures where Allie discovered she is more than they all thought. It remains to be seen what this means for them all, but quickly it's something because demons are coming out of the woodwork coming after Allie. She quickly has an unusual ally, one the family is a bit leery of at first. Things come to a head and of course it would happen just as Timmy's birthday party is about to begin and they all learn why the demons have been coming after Allie and so much more. It will be interesting to see what happens next for Kate and her crew.

I am a HUGE fan of Julie Kenner's Demon Hunting Soccer Mom series, so I was really excited to dive into the latest installment, Day of the Demon! Unfortunatley, it seems that the author has switched publishers and maybe editors? and there is a sharp decrease in quality of this book compared to the others in the series. Entire paragraphs and even a whole page was repeated and there were several typos throughout the story. I'm also disappointed in the cover art compared to the fun, quirky, colorful artwork for the prior books in this series.
This book is the seventh in a series of eight books centering on Kate Connor, suburban mom, wife, self-defense class teacher, who also happens to belong to an elite force of demon-hunters, called Forza, who were secretly trained at The Vatican. What I love about this series is the juxtaposition of Kate's daily laundry, toddler birthday party planning and neverending grocery list struggles with her responsibility to rid her small town and ultimately our whole world of vengeful demons hell-bent on living in our realm.
Day of the Demon picks up with Kate's family returning from a trip to Rome, where Kate's teen daughter, Allie, literally saved the world. Now Allie has a new love interest at school who may not be what he seems and the number of demons in Kate's small beach town multiplied while she was in Rome...and they are acting strange. Kate needs to uncover whether Allie's crush is friend or foe and also get to the bottom of the demons' odd behavior, while dodging church volunteer work assignments.
The actual story was really good, but I got hung up on the editing. I do plan to read the final installment when it is released because I am invested at this point.

New publisher, new narrator and a series dip in quality. The narrator is awful. She uses an exaggerated measured cadence that reminds me of Ben Stein. She has different voices for the characters but they all speak with this same cadence. Plus her voice for Kate sounds like an old woman and she reads without any emotion or humor. Honestly, I thought this was read by AI until I checked. The worst narrator I've ever listened to. I even tried to return the book to no avail and that was the only reason I finished this.
The book itself isn't great either. So much of this books is recalling previous books, the characters seem to have ESP they way they alway know what one another is thinking and always say the right thing. Despite that, the author could not remember that Allie didn't have a favorite lovey growing up in the last book and now suddenly there is a dog.
Not sure if the narrator made this worse or not, but Kate is grating on my nerves. It's always "my baby this" and "I'm so proud" that. Plus now, Allie calls her "mommy" when she is in trouble. The melodrama is annoying and cringe. Best to stop with Demon Ex-Machina if you ask me. I'll finish the series only because I am so close to the end and already bought the next two books.

Allie struggles with what she is & demons, demons, demons!
Kate comes up with an amazing idea for the mansion! I can't tell you but you'll love it. It makes perfect sense. However, I really think they should move into it. Hell it's big enough Laura & Mindy could move into it. The demon attacks & sheer number of demons that attack in this one are crazy. There's a sexy slightly shady vampire that Allie has a serious crush on. Kate goes all crazy mom out behind Allie's back & buys a listening device to spy on her & Jared. If you ask me she should have found a way to record Jared! Something on his phone to listen to him. A gift from Allie that he wears. If there are witches why not a spell to do this? Something he can't detect. I will say the team was so clueless again when the demons would throw out words or phrases that I got 80% closer to the real answer than the characters who were just maybe 2%! Mindy & Allie fight again it's all because of secrets. Avoidable! Lastly the ending is shocking. I gotta say Kate's lack of emotions left me really dumbfounded! You'll see.

Once again J. Kenner proves that she is not just a romance writer. Readers have been waiting patiently to find out what happens to Kate and her family once her daughter's true lineage was found out in the last book of the series, and they were not disappointed. Filled with edge of your seat drama as well as the perfect mixture of family dysfunction and bonds of true friends this was a great read.

This series continues with this book, we still have Kate fighting demons and her teenage daughter is still getting into trouble, finding out about her lineage changed some things in the series, I love the mom and daughter bond, is real and overall it was an entertaining story to read.

Never let your guard down!!!
With Demon essence from her father, Allie is more than a demon magnet she’s a descendant due to the cargo Eric/David carried since he was a child and the demons won’t let them alone. Kate has to get back in sync with Stuart. Hubby forgave the demon hunters for Lilith ruining his house, but it is back to the drawing board to get Kate off guard (she was still hurt that he left and took Timmy) and deal with Eric whom she loves but is scarred by their experiences, lack of complete trust while they were married and his behavior when the demon manifested.
Allie is gung-ho to train with her David/Eric and Kate but she also has to acknowledge her cousin Eliza’s addition to the demon hunting squad plus she has her ups and downs on hanging with Mindy who is a researcher and singer not a terrible fighter but not as bad as the average Jane.
Coming home from Rome she and David with Stuart’s knowledge hunt demons trying to figure out what they want with “the new one”.
Whoa 🤯 we have an Edward Cullen in the mix, sweet on Allie and the rules are slightly different than expected - food for thought though “ITIS” needs a nap 😴 😂😂😂

Day of the Demon is book 7 in the Demon-Hunting Soccer Mum Series but it’s the first one I have read but I will be playing catch up with the previous books as soon as time permits. I have read all of J Kenner’s other books but this is a genre I’m not normally drawn too but I have to say this really shows just how diverse and talented Ms Kenner is.
This series is about Kate balancing family life with fighting demons and in this book we see the family trying to return to normal life after a trip to Rome where she prevented the apocalypse. How do you return to normal life after that you may ask, well by planning a toddlers birthday party....
This is an entertaining read that will keep you on the edge of your seat, it’s full of typical family dysfunction when you have a teenage daughter in the house, it’s full of suspense and it will have you wondering throughout what’s going to happen next. I forgot how much I enjoyed reading about Kate and her demon-kicking ways! We've waited awhile to find out what happens to Kate and her family once they returned home from their "vacation" in Rome. After all, how does one return to normal life after preventing the apocalypse using a solution that presents its own issues...by planning a toddler's 3rd birthday party of course! Then she has to navigate an interesting relationship triangle between her previously deceased ex-husband and her current husband, who just learned of her interesting "side job". Her once quiet suburban town is suddenly teeming with demons who seem to be worshipping her daughter and ex-husband? It's going to take a team effort, and then some to figure out what the demon world is trying to do! Exciting but slightly open-ended finish to this book!

Kate's back and kicking butts and all the while juggling her family life, after her daughter Ali helped save the world from being over run with demons, Kate is now worried that her daughter maybe part demon {long story short from other books Kate's ex husband parent's done some experimenting on him and gave him some demon in him and hid it and it got lifted and the demon created hell but he crossed over into another body and helped close the gates}, but Eddie is on hand with his words of wisdom and no say it as he sees it, no one really knows what will happen with Ali.
Loved this series from the start and I was beyond excited when Ms Kenner revealed book 7 would be out, I do hope there is more in this series even a look into Eddie's past which I think would be very entertaining.

Coming back from Rome after enjoying ‘cough cough’ everything there, Kate struggles to get everything done that needs doing before Timmie’s birthday party. But, Being Kate, it’s rather tough to get things together. Thank heaven she has Laura to help her!
But as you know, there’s always something that happens when you have a limited time to do things. And boy do they! Between a new boy in Ali’s life and that saving the world bit We barely get going before something happens.
Really enjoyed the book the author sure brought different things into it, I guess just spice it up! But I think you’ll enjoy it and I can’t wait to read the next one.

I honestly feel like I waited a lifetime for this book, but it was SO worth the wait! While there wasn’t a ton of action in this one, the story was great. We have the family back from Rome, Allie is a bit...more...than she used to be, there’s a new boy around who catches Allie’s eye and who inadvertently sort of comes between her and Mindy and so much more! The ending was a total cliffhanger (is Stuart ok?!? He has to be now that he and Eric seem to be getting along better right???) and I am impatiently awaiting the next book to see what will happen!

A book and series you don’t want to miss!
Kate is amazing, balancing a family and fighting demons. I found myself laughing, crying and overall engrossed. Raising a teenager is tough enough but adding demon’s into the mix. One word, WOW!! A definite must read!!
J. Kenner Demon series is absolutely fantastic. I love all of J. Kenner’s books, but this was a surprise. Once you start you won’t be able to stop. I strongly encourage you to start from the beginning.

NOT the best in the series
I adore this series, the humor, paranormal, romance…Kate is just the perfect amount of mini cam driving soccer mom that you can’t believe she was trained since childhood to be a demon hunter…but it seems as if the well is running dry and the story feels stagnant… I have purchased the next because as I said I adore this series… it hoping the next one turns it all back around.

This book was so entertaining! It had me dying to find out what happens next! I love J. Kenner's writing and she definitely knows how to tell as story. It was full of suspense and guessing and family dynamics that I look forward to reading more of. I can't wait for more from this series and more from this author. She draws me in with all genres she writes.

Day of the Demon is book 7 in the Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom series by J. Kenner. This series is about Kate balancing family and fighting demons. This book the family is just returning from a trip to Rome where Kate prevented the apocalypse. This is an entertaining read that will make you laugh and definitely keep you hooked to this typical dysfunctional family whose mom is a demon hunter.

This is the seventh book in the Demon-Hunting Soccer Mom Series. This is a great series, entertaining, complex, and original. Kate’s dysfunctional family’s adventures continue in this installment. Allie, Kate daughter, is an interesting character. The relationship between mother/daughter is amazing. The story has action, suspense, humor, and drama.

Okay, I started this series years ago and it was so much fun to go back to it! Kate is a kick-a$$ and take names mom who gets the job done and with an ex-husband and a dead husband and a toddler and oh, don't forget the teenager there is a lot going on. Put up your feet and settle in and just enjoy!

I was looking forward to reading this book. Loved the continuation of the storyline. I was hoping the mansion would continue to be part of the story. Surprised by the ending. Disappointed that it hadn't been proofread better and the cliffhanger ending. I will continue with the series for now.

So quick read. Tad frustrating though bc the first half of the book is sort of. Summary or reminder of the plot and story line- which I guess is to be expected when 7 yrs go between the last book and this one.

3.5 These books are a great escape, but are so poorly edited, both grammatically and content-wise (so repetitive), that it seems as though the editor didn't even read them.
But I still love the characters, the Buffy-like feel, and the light reading.

Another great Kate story. The ending was too quick compared to previous books, and the proofreading was awful, but still loved it. Looking forward to the next book.

Not a lot happened until the very very end. Wasn't my favorite, but I am fully invested and want to read the next one.
