Designed to replace Key Issues in Development , this new text provides a critical interdisciplinary introduction to the theory, practice and study of development and to such key challenges in the 21st century as securitization and attempts to address global warming.
This book covers some of the most critical and relevant debates, issues and challenges of development in contemporary times. Reading it reawakened my interest in development studies. Each issue is explored in considerable depth, and the writing remains concise throughout. I also appreciated that the authors did not seem to stress or try to convince the reader of a particular point of view or belief; rather they just presented the facts as they are. Although it's an academic book, it reads easily and each chapter is further subdivided into sub-chapters which makes it a bit easier to read.
