Major League ballplayer Justin Moore is blessed with dazzling good looks, popularity in the community, a lovely wife and family, and only a few hiccups in his past. At mid-career he is hitting his stride, both personally and professionally. Then a kidnapping plot originating in Cuba, and concocted by Guadalupe, the embittered ex-wife of a Cuban-American ballplayer, blasts everything to pieces. Justin’s long weeks of captivity are complicated by numerous political issues between the two countries, which add to his peril. He can see no way out that won’t potentially lead to his death.

What will it take for Justin, and his grief-stricken but determined wife April, to recover their formerly happy, privileged, and rather complacent lives? Is it even possible to get past such a trauma? The one-time golden couple of baseball must adjust to a new reality that seems unthinkable at first, but gradually comes into focus.

An intriguing novel
Linda Gould has penned a truly exciting novel full of action, secrecy and danger. “Gilded Prisons” is a compelling story that narrates the kidnapping of Justin Moore, who is a well-known baseball player.
While he is in captivity, some problems arise and make things worse. Anyone in similar circumstances will have second thoughts all the time, for sure. Thanks to the clear author´s writing style, I was immersed in Justin´s fears and ideas. It is quite distressing but at the same time, interesting to see what happens after that nightmare.
All in all, this is a well-developed novel with dynamic characters and many surprises. I liked the story and I recommend it!

“Gilded Prisons” by Linda Gould is an exciting novel with wide audience appeal. The author skillfully crafts a tale of sports, crime, politics, social inequity, and romance for non-stop action from the very first page.

Justin Moore has it all—he’s a Major League Baseball player at the peak of his career, a loving wife, and two beautiful daughters. Indeed, he is living the American Dream. A dream that quickly turns into a nightmare when mercenaries for Cuban royals kidnap Justin straight from the Filibuster’s locker room. Held hostage in the royal palace, Justin has every creature comfort imaginable but must endure the attentions of future First Lady Guadalupe, mistress of his gilded prison. After months of captivity, the royal twins help Justin escape the palace, but how will he get out of Cuba? And, once home, will Justin and his family ever feel a sense of normalcy again?

The characters are the biggest draw for me in any story and the characters Linda Gould created in “Gilded Prisons” are entertaining, with both complicated and green traits, while also being strong – but not strong enough they can’t be broken. Each character takes a different course and adds to the story, invoking feelings that scale the spectrum from love, hope and happiness to desire, helplessness, greed and rage. The future First Lady, Guadalupe’s character, is outstanding and goes through a remarkable transformation from an evil, sadistic captor to… well, I won’t spoil it for you. Let’s just say she learns a lot about herself and the world on her journey.

The plot takes some unpredictable turns, to say the least. Gould keeps the reader guessing throughout the adventure, incorporating original and sometimes outrageous twists readers will NOT see coming.

“Gilded Prisons” weaves together a delicate web of plot twists, characters you’ll love to hate (or hate to love?), and political intrigue that might remind you of certain societal issues going on in the world today. There is also an enjoyable glimpse behind the scenes of Major League Baseball, America’s favorite pastime, a world full of its own politics and social prejudices.

Gilded prison is the story about Major League ballplayer Justin Moore; he has everything in life, an amazing and intelligent wife, two daughters, a wonderful and prospects career and a very good position both economic and social. But out of the blue, his life changes completely when he is kidnapped. Being captive and away from everyone he loves is a living horror, and in the middle of all this, he finds out his kidnap might be complicated by numerous political issues.
I am very pleased with this reading, the amount of mystery and drama that it has made it very interesting, and I couldn’t put it down! I kept wondering what will happen next and how Linda Gould, the author, is going to fix it. The characters are very strong, and the feelings I personally had reading Justin’s desperate moments while being kidnapped made me cry. It is such a good book! It is a rollercoaster of emotions, and the end is just perfection.

Thrilling and unexpected

Justin Moore is a great looking ballplayer at the peak of his career when his life gets turned upside down. Now he has to put the pieces of his broken life back together along with his wife, April. A different sort of love story for me, it was nonetheless an enjoyable read. Not often do we see and already married couple as the protagonists, but this was done well. I can feel the emotions that each has as well as the bitterness of Guadalupe who is out for revenge it seems. The writing style is great and the plot maintains a good momentum throughout. I love the fact that it centers around baseball, as it is one of my favorite sports. The level of details and emotional anguish these characters go through is believable even though it is fiction. Overall, a good read and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to read a romance with some action and emotional upheaval thrown in.

Even though Sports and sports-related content are limited in the reading world, the ones that are there are of great quality. Stories related to sports genres are interesting ones and one among the fewer are the 'Gilded prisons' by Linda Gould. The main protagonist is Justin Moore who had all the fame and fans as a baseball player. Having enough money and a loving family Justin's life went upside down as he was kidnapped. As a national icon is abducted, everything is not easy for his family members; this story develops and takes turns.

Gould shows the life of a sportsperson and how sports have become a business for the countries in the current era. When I finished this book, I especially realized that apart from keeping the passion a sportsperson has to compromise their life to the authorities.

Kidnapping, sports and politics

I was thrown for a bit of a loop on this one based on the cover, but once I started reading, I was glad I chose to continue with the story full of satisfying suspense. I like a good story that takes relatively normal people who are enjoying their best lives and then throwing a wrench into all their plans and showing how their actions and reactions play out, which is exactly what this story has to offer. With kidnapping, politics, sports, mystery, and corruption galore, which goes to show that it has a little something for all types of readers. This one was a fun read to sit and wind down with, especially since it was easily enjoyed in a single sitting. Don't let the cover on this one fool you, it has much more to enjoy than just steamy romance.

A look at the games people play

This is not my usual read but I was curious having read the blurb. Baseball is used as a vehicle in which to create a complex web of behaviours both social and political.
It is what people get away with that is the point here, how things happen and yet the participants often get to keep leading their lives as if no harm has come from their actions. Others do their best, risking everything and too often finding brick walls.
However the author offers hope through the new generations to come but still the questions remains, will they be able to do better?Gilded prisons often have a powerful attraction.
Not a book for everyone but certainly a very interesting read.

I think that Gilded Prisons, by author Linda Gould, is a brilliantly crafted novel. The main character of this story is major league ballplayer Justin Moore, who has the perfect life and the perfect wife. Until something really traumatic happens to him and his life gets completely turned around.
I think that the book is well written, with twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. I enjoy this kind of book where we get involved so much that we want to know how its end as soon as possible!
The pace of the story is fast, the characters are believable and have authentic dialogues. The plot is both realistic and engaging.
I think anyone will greatly enjoy this story as much as I did and also any other from this amazing author!

Gilded Prisons by author Gould is one of those books that stand out from the rest due to the intricate but not unfamiliar nature of its plot.
Famous sportspeople sometimes believe their lives are a bed of roses, they are successful, they usually have a beautiful family and tender kids, like the Major League ballplayer, Justin Moore. However, out of the blue, tables can be turned and this happened to Moore, as well.
What prompted me into getting this book was the fact that baseball was mentioned, but as soon as I started reading, I realised it was a mere instrument to weave great sequences of events into an entertaining narrative that teaches lessons.
Big applause for this author who seems to have put serious effort into crafting an original kind of tale.

A lot more than a romance novel.

I decided to read this book because its cover caught my attention, and I have to say that it didn't disappoint me. In Gilded Prisons by Linda Gould, the story develops around Justin Moore, a famous baseball player who has a quite delightful personal and professional life. But all this finishes when he is kidnapped by an ex-wife.
At the beginning, I thought that the story would have a lot of information about baseball. But it was much more than romance and sport. I was pleasantly surprised because the plot shows "the other side" of professional sport, which involves fame, political problems and social privileges. I really liked the turns and twists of the novel. It is a good story!

I would like to start by saying that Gilden Prisons by the author Linda Gould turned out to be one of my best book picks in a long time. Undoubtedly, I'm going to go back and see if she has any other books because if they are like this, it would be worth reading.
First of all, it is the type of book that really enthralls me. Secondly, the plot was much different than I expected by looking at the cover and name and this surprise factor was more than interesting. Finally, the plot is a whirlwind of suspense, mystery, intrigue, romance and danger that pulled me in from the very beginning.
I really enjoyed this marvelous science fiction tale a lot. I felt like the plot was solid as the characters’ development.

This book, Gilded Prisons by Linda Gould, is a wonderfully written book crafted with a heavy and at times, dark subject. First of all, I admire the cover of the book. It is so inviting. At first I thought it is mainly a romance book but it is more than what I have expected. I love the concept of this book and how the author was able to come up with a challenging storyline with characters that have depth in them.

I experienced different emotions while reading this book. I couldn't help but feel scared, mad, and totally hopeful all at once that the main character Justin Moore will able to get over his difficult situation. This was such an excellently done book and I can see that Linda Gould really worked hard to make the plot a sensational one.

Gilded Prisons by author Linda Gould is an engaging novel that laces different topics: baseball world, social privileges, crime and politics; and bilateral relations between Cuba and the USA. And between all that, the experiences of Major League ballplayer Justin Moore and his wife during their kidnapping. It seems to be a lot going on in this plot, but the writing style is light and easy to read; so, I got straightforwardly into the story and got caught by these appealing characters!

To sum up, the novel is fascinating, well-paced and catching. This is the first book I read from the author, and it will certainly not be the last one.

Guadalupe is an ex-wife who is set on revenge against her husband and concocts a plan to kidnap a famous baseball player. This man, Justin Moore, is on vacation with his family and all is looking rosy in his immediate future. He has the ball skills, the beautiful wife, the fancy house, and cars and so on. When he is kidnapped, his world is turned upside down and he must decide just what he will do to return home.
While romance is a big part of this book, Baseball is not, the main plot is centered around stilted Guadalupe, Justin, and the kidnapping and horrid conditions he endures. The book overall is well written, and the plot moves pretty quickly once we get to the kidnapping portion.

Everything can change in a second, and that's what happened to Justin Moore, a Major League Baseball player. His life takes a 360 degree turn when he is kidnapped. His wife isn't going to stop until rescuing him, but can she free him before it's too late?
This story has everything I look for in a novel, action, romance and many twists and turns. Author Linda Gould knows how to entertain the reader and she certainly excelled in this novel. His writing style is very descriptive. The scenes are so fast paced and so engaging that I couldn't stop reading. I highly recommend “Gilded Prisons” for all who are looking for a must-read.

This is a novel which combines romance, drama, and intense relationship games. When I started reading it, I realized that the cover had misled me. The story is very interesting.
It tells the story of a young and handsome man who has a very successful career in sports and that suddenly sees his life involved in a big conflict. Spiced up by a kidnap and political tensions, the story quickly turns into a novel full of action and suspense.
What I liked the most about this book is that it is very different from other novels in the genre. I think that the excellent writing style and the description of the characters make it outstanding.
I loved this story and I strongly recommend it.

Sports, fame and tragedy

Linda Gould is the writer of “Gilded Prisons”. The novel tells the story of a ballplayer, called Justin Moore, who is going through a great strike in life: he has a stable, loving family, good luck at work and he is earning lots of money.

A Cuban kidnapping band is aware of Moore’s wealth, and is ready to make his life turn upside down.

The story develops when the main character struggles to forget the past and to recover his life.

I did not fall in love with the story, but I passed the time reading it. The narration is quite uncomplicated, and I believe more than one young adult might like it.

In "Glided Prisons" the reader is going to find a very dramatic scene that is going to spread drama all over the place. The main event in the novel portraits a lot of real issues in politics, relationships, fame, power and a lot more.

It is a very intriguing read, even though it is fiction I could easily picture situations like that in real life. I think that was another thing that kept me reading. Also, it has a really good narration with a fast pace that complements each other perfectly.

I think author Linda Gould did a really good job in this genre. Looking forward to read more of her work.
