I'm a 70 year old female who doesn't like Science fiction/Space stories/battles etc but I love reading Michael Anderles collaborations so when I saw he was collaborating with his son,Joshua, I thought I'd give this a try. I laughed and I cried(a lot) and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the book. I didn't flip through the battle scenes like i usually do when I encounter them. I loved all the main characters and some of the others too. I thoroughly recommend this series of books and look forward to if ever the story continues.
Excellent YA series. There were a few glitches which should have been picked up by the editor and proofreaders but, otherwise, very well written. Kaiden is very much a diamond in the rough who was lucky to have someone like Sasha see the potential in him. This is a true ‘coming of age’ story, not only for Kaiden but for Chico and all their friends. His charisma is shown by the friends he made despite his rough edges. This is a good action packed series that has a strong moral compass; something that can never go astray. Maybe it’s a bit unrealistic at times but most good YA books are. With luck we’ll catch up with Kaiden, Chiyo and Genos a few years down their track.
I lived every word of this series! The characters will stay with me for a very long times and I really hope to read more about them in the future. (Hint, hint Michael and Joshua!!!) The storyline was very unique and so fantastic and very well written. I don't think I've ever read a story by Michael Anerle that I didn't luv. And now I have to say the same about Joshua also. I would luv to read more from him, he has a very unique view for characters. So much action, adventure and a little lite romance thrown in, that builds slowly throughout the entire series. Perfectly appropriate for teens and up. The worst is some foul language. Highly recommended for all ages.
Just a Fun Series for SciFi, CyberPunk, fans and Gamers
Fun characters, interesting situations and possibilities. The archetypical heroes, anti-heroes, villains and side-kicks are all here. It’s like you are reading a story and thinking about it from the perspective of playing a PC game.
There is no heavy philosophical challenge, but there are some unexpected plot twists and situational introductions that keep the ride moving and fun.
I really enjoyed the execution of well known tropes, and perhaps some predictable outcomes, but it’s not always about being different or not telling the same story - it’s how well you do it and the Anderle’s did it well!
I really liked this series, and I probably would liked it more if I had read three or four books at a time. Reading it in one long session made me feel it dragged a bit here and there - but that's on me.
I don't know how it is in the current iteration of the military, but this story seemed a bit unbalanced in characters. With only one female in a secondary role and 2-4 more in tertiary roles, none of them even close to the strength of the males in any role. Well, I guess personal experience with strong women in my life, made this series seem just a bit unbalanced.
I recommend this book to those who enjoy military science fiction.
Really enjoyed the series. I found the battle scenes rather gripping and they kept me up more than once. It was also nice to see a really good editing job. I only saw a couple instances of mixing up ‘your’ for ‘you’re’. And one case of misspelling a character’s name. And it was nice to see the protagonists rise to increasing challenges without resorting to some miraculous new weapon. Goood job
Great story line. Interesting characters. I especially liked the concept of a specialized training facility outside the military. The concept of being able to learn your chosen profession based on your abilities and not your origin is outstanding. Plus the adventures depicted were really great. Good guys bad, guys, heroes and champions. Lots of action. What fun.
I enjoyed all 12 books immensely. This omnibus kept me busy and gave me some relaxation during a stressful time in my life. Thanks to both authors for an exciting , well written set of books .
It was a lot of fun to read. A ton of action and battles. Bad guys that you really hated and could not wait for them to get their comings. Look forward to another series.
Still teary please continue after Kaidan meets with Magellan it was riveting and the pace was a little slower but I found it more enjoyable than some of your others Lyn Walker
All in all I really enjoyed this series. I laughed, I cried, I cringed in my chair. Sometimes I started reading so fast in the excitement. For me that makes a great series. Thank you guys 😊
This is a young adult category volume. Didn't know that when I purchased this volume, but I wound up wanting to see what happened to Kaiden et al. Predictable.
