Blah, I REALLY wanted to do the kindle sync for this review ;/ because I mark a lot of places while I read and I think it's fun to see from other people what they note, and wanted to do the same (unfortunately, it seems not to be working?) ANYWAY---

So the unsynched, unmarked version is this: I was having a really hectic shitty day today and these poems were what I needed. I so enjoy Froilan's style--it touches on the mundane, the divine; the inspiration and the exasperation. Seriously, I think everyone can find something in here to nod to and go 'yup. I know where you're coming from.' Zero pretentiousness, this is a poet having fun with words and inviting us to enjoy the results, and who knows, maybe go out and make something too that someone else can enjoy. It sounds corny, but afterwards, I feel like trying harder, writing harder, being better harder. Give Froilan's poetry a go, these are words to improve your day and put your mind on a better track. (Recommend in tandem with his other collection, 'Overcast.')

Michael Froilan’s debut collection of poetry ‘Clouded Thoughts’ is a jubilant celebration of loving and accepting yourself. Froilan does not ignore the pain and disappointment that is part of every life, but instead embraces it as part of our internal growth, and explores how we become stronger by challenging adversity. The love of self is extended in poems that find joy in knowing and understanding another person. There is a lot of gratitude running through these works, from the gratitude of just being here in this world breathing, to appreciating the continual support of a kind family.

These poems are written to be easily understood and absorbed. Phrases could be pulled from many of them and would be perfect pinned on mirrors, written in diaries and used as mantras repeated daily to remind ourselves to focus on what our life truly means to us.

This is a very short read, a collection of short and long poems, the book is centered around life, human emotions and concepts that link humans with themselves. It was quite refreshing but definitely I feel it presents raw thoughts of the author in a way which is extremely heartfelt and unique. I loved the way he explores new themes on each new page.
.
.
To me most of the poems depicted harsh truths and reality, pain, or rather I would say dark side of life. Some of them had a subject or theme of justification. I loved how he complied everything so well in a single book. The writing style was easy smooth and easy to understand. They had an impact on me, a deeper one to be honest. Poems don't really have rhyming scheme, but who says they're supposed to have it?
.
.
I find the titles quite quirky and fun, some of my most favorite poems are: Why I Write, Beget, What's What, Symmetry, Pulse and Success.

Clouded thoughts just like it's title is a collection of thoughts presented in the form of people. I definitely loved it and I will surely recommend it to readers who are looking for a heartfelt read.

Brilliant and emotive
This is my second read from this author. I loved overcast and so obviously I picked this one without a second thought.
This one too is filled with sentiments that tug and pull in you. I find these poems to be humbling and thought provoking. All the things we grow up to accept as normal are sometimes that raises the biggest question, WHY. And answering that is not easy. Some of the poems included in this collection made me wonder about life along that line.

Book: Clouded Thoughts

Author: Michael Froilan

Review: " The universe is not punishing you. It is not blessing you. It is not controlling you. It is responding to your vibration. Think happy and the happiness will come to you. Think negatively and the negativity will come to you. What we put into the universe, we get back like an echo." Welcome back dear readers. The real game is our deeds, it's absolutely true that no external power controls us but our thoughts and our deeds controls us. The situations around are just 10% the rest 90% is how we react over them and with what attitude we deal with them. The book I've read recently is something I've always wanted. Poetries are my forever favourite, they are my forever companion and I always crave for self help and motivational content. I always try to make my approach positive, regardless of the situations. This book by Michael Froilan is a precious collection if some life changing poetries. Through his poems the author is on a mission to spread positivity, spirituality, healing and love, the most important aspects to live happily. The world is full of people, people with different qualities and drawbacks but it's not us who are given the responsibility to highlight their shortcomings, instead we must find the problems within us and throughout our life we must be indulged in making ourselves better because self improvement is a life long process. A book with a beautiful message and soulful poetries, turn the pages to learn, grow and heal.

This is one of finest collection of poetries I've read. The author's efforts and ideology behind the book are wonderful and must be appreciated. This blend of poetries with soulful and self help theme is revolutionary. I was sincerely hooked with it and finished reading all of them in just few hours. 6 am train rides, self-rivalry and reawakening are my favorite ones from the book. I'm really happy, I found this book. I have shared this book to all of my friends and I'm glad they're loving it. The cover and the title of the book are equally amazing.

I would recommend you all to read this book, a really wonderful collection of poems to cheer you up and lift up your hopes. This is a perfect pick for the people of every age group. Each one of us, let's now focus on making ourselves better, the world will become a beautiful place itself. Poetries have become my best buddy these days; they've been like a real buddy during my difficult period, and this book has helped me to heal a little."Clouded Thoughts" by Michael Froilan is a collection of several poetry based on love, healing, spirituality and self help.Reading this book was like getting a lessons from a well experienced mentor.

These poems will truly assist readers in overcoming their depressed mental state. I am sharing my personal experience with you, which I truly felt. Life throws problems in front of every individual but that does not mean that we should allow our problems to control our lives. Instead, a positive mindset can assist you in overcoming any problem.

"6 AM train rides,Derailed,Movement,Three wordsm, upper hand,Catch Drift" are some of the topics of the poems. In essence, the poems combine a rare blend of vulnerability and strength, prompting readers to reflect on their own views, experiences, and attitudes. All the poems are written in such a way that will keep you tied to your seat until the end of the book. But i will suggest you to read slow to get the deep meaning of each lines.

Self-improvement is essential in everyone's life, and this book taught me to keep growing no matter what. The author has done a great job in spreading positivity and guiding people via his book. For me it was really fascinating to read this book, author's powerful writing makes this book more interesting in reading.

Beginner in poetry can also read this book as author's writing style makes this book an effortless read, they will surely enjoy it.The book provides a powerful message to individuals who have lost all hope and are crumbling under the weight of societal pressure. If you're seeking for something out of the ordinary in your reading, this is the book for you.I will highly suggest this book to everyone out there. It is a book that even young readers can read.

Froilan’s impressive, insightful collection of short poems shimmers with reflection, perception, and spiritual profundity.

Self-doubt, insecurity, and the fear of failure and ridicule serve as the catalysts for the book’s underlying theme of empowerment. Froilan skillfully combines vulnerability and strength, and one of his most remarkable insights is trying to find positivity even in the most negative situation; he writes: “Rock bottom is a dead end,/ Nothing takes place there./ The only upside is it’s safe.”

Themes of insecurity, self-doubt, failure permeate the pages, but that doesn’t prevent the collection to shimmer with optimism and hope. “Slow Death,” “Snubnosed,” and “Pay Dirt” deliver the inspiring message of finding courage in the face of failure and so do the uplifting and encouraging “Monuments” and “Lost and Found,” which are also sketched on similar lines. Vignettes of nostalgia and longing for an old love are rendered skillfully in “Ridges'' as Froilan writes: “At times I desperately wish/ some scissors could cut/ the distance that stands between us./ Racial barriers,/ naysayers,/ Kilometers:”

Moving and heartening “Pulse” is an ode to familial love. The poems in the collection embodies Froilan’s ability to translate struggles of everyday life, negativity as well as beauty and surprise that life has to offer into language. “Concrete Island '' celebrates small moments of leisure and unwinding whereas the inspiring and uplifting “Spine” applauds uniqueness.

Stirring and thoughtful, the collection serves as a testament to life, inviting readers to learn to overcome negativity, and to aim, plan, and dream. This is a winner.

Clouded Thoughts is a poetry collection by author Michael Froilan that navigates the domain of healing and spirituality. It explores the themes of love, loss and growing through it all. The poems in their essence bring together a rare combination of vulnerability and strength, that makes readers introspect and dig deeper into their own beliefs, experiences and attitudes. This inturn instigates self empowerment and sets a personal tranformation in motion. The writing is flowy and the simple yet powerful narrative seeps more under your skin. The deep understanding of the author of human mind refelcted itself in each piece. Reading through them felt like having a deep and satisfying conversation with a mentor. Definitely a book that stays with you long after you turn the last page.

It is very rare for a book to have its poetries live beyond the pages, and at the same time let it transcend its own genre into something else. Clouded Thoughts does that, and more.

I am a big fan of poetry due to the unique and magical way it communicates to the readers. It’s like a piece of a puzzle that opens you to a world of endless possibilities while entertaining you at the same time. "Clouded Thoughts" is one of the best poetry books I have come across and my experience with the book has been overwhelming. When I purchased the book, everything was a nightmare and did not know what to expect since I had taken a long break from poetry. However, the book served as my most-needed welcoming gesture. Its messages and themes of spirituality, love, healing, self-help and so much more are all comprehensively and intelligently written. I was also particularly interested in the smooth flow which kept me glued to the book from cover to cover. I must say the author is very talented and I enjoyed the book. Highly recommend!!

Clouded Thoughts is what we called a true page turner.
Amazingly woven like an interesting spell. I didn't think this book was going to be this good. It was , as you might expect , engaging , a total different piece of art from every aspect.
It sets a very high bar for whatever he does that comes next.

A great collection of poetry! The author's real and raw messages resonated with me at a deep level. They inspired contemplation and self-reflection, as an individual living in a polarized (and sometimes, mostly, chaotic) world. I don't think that it's possible to read these poems without going inward and getting in touch with your deepest thoughts and feelings. Or at least that's the case for most of them--some forced unexpected laughter out me, which is a rarity in poetry. Reading through the book was also like getting life advice in the form of poems--"poetic advice," if you will. I found it very refreshing!

“We all got scars that tell a story. /Not only do they narrate, /They symbolize hard knocks we’ve endured. /They are small reminders of our strength. /Though laid out silently engraved on our skin, /They scream /For us /To keep pushing forward.”

How easily these lines have been stitched into each other, putting all the pieces together of our setbacks and making it look like our achievements. Poetry is the author’s way of telling different stories of himself through it. The admirer of poetry finds his solace in it by just glancing through some lines which take him into deep ocean of thoughts.

“Peace be unto you. /Or pieces off of you. /Your pick.”

This book revolves around the themes of love, healing, spirituality, loss, and what not. It’s about learning and growing along the way of our life’s journey. By reading each poem, you’ll sense a deep longing and healing. Along the lines, you’d see present self and your future self.

The poet has done a great job and it’s an amazing read. I’d recommend you to read it slowly one by one and embrace each word and feel it in your core. The writing is simple and keeps the reader hooked till the end. Enjoyable! I highly recommend it. MUST BUY.

Enjoyable, modern styling, but maybe a bit over-focused on poor self-esteem. Being out of touch with current poetry, I missed the rhyming nature from years gone by. However, I soon emerged into Froilan's concepts and ideas. In spite of the pain and self-judgment, the book sets an overall tone of hope.

Give it a try.

Clouded Thoughts by Michael Froilan is a beautiful collection of free verse poems that speak about the spirituality, love, inner-peace, personal-transformation, mental health and wellness, and those who are looking to overcoming hardship that they're currently facing. The poems are a kind of motivation for depressed minds and discouraged people to rise above their problems and face the world with a positive attitude.
Most of Froilan's poems are free verse poems. He takes free verse poems to another level with this collection. The poems seem deal with some aspect of the poet's personal struggles - his joys and sorrows - and they connect you with his spirit and inner mind. Poetry need not be confessional all the time but it can most often be the result of some soul-searching or some emotions that are embedded in the poet's mind. Many poems are inspiring for the reader. They help the reader to come to terms with personal tragedies and rise above them.
The poem 'Sweet Virgo Girl' is a beautiful expression of love that will touch any reader. The warm thoughts that the poet shares with his loved one are expressed very differently. It makes the reader feel so good. 'Obviously' concerns the author's desperation about life and how he overcomes it by faith and determination and changes it into a positive feeling. The free verse style gives more options to be more expressive. These poems are also a kind of example for poets wanting to try out free verse poems.
I enjoyed reading Clouded Thoughts Poetry Collection. I liked experiencing the breadth of thoughts and emotions that were portrayed effectively by the writer. Michael Froilan effectively demonstrated a fluid style that didn’t fall into the trap of feeling repetitive. I believe Clouded Thoughts to be a well-written collection that makes its readers think deeply about its message. I recommend this book to any lovers of poetry but especially those who are believers in God. It’s a worthwhile collection to read in general. if the reader has similar beliefs to the writer, then the poetry is sure to appeal.

The hassle of a daily commute, the often delayed appreciation for our parents, the danger of defining yourself by others’ standards- all of these subjects and more are tackled by author Michael Froilan in his poetry collection Clouded Thoughts. Froilan hits the ground running from the first page, jumping headfirst into poems that display a refreshing honesty, not to mention more than their fair share of vulnerability. While some of the poems read quickly and then float away with the breeze, some stay with you well after you’ve turned the page.

Clouded Thoughts has its pages filled with almost as many styles as it does subjects. Froilan writes poems that read like a paragraph, ones with a rhyming pattern, and some as short as a single thought. His shortest ones are, in fact, some of the strongest and are reminiscent of daily affirmations, words to be spoken in the mornings as intentions for the day. Likewise, the tone of the poems is all over the spectrum. There is no shortage of “chip on the shoulder” cynicism to be found here, but in equal turns are the many that are uplifting and inspiring.

Froilan manages to find the balance between social commentary and political statements, a precarious line that not many can navigate. Many of his poems bring current events and societal issues to light but never once does he beat you over the head with them, preferring, it would seem, to make his points with a degree of subtlety.

Although many of the poems in this collection are written with a sense of level-headed realism, a few employ imagery and analogy to elevate them to an another level. Lines such as “My pillows are covered in dreams and anxiety, What a surprise, I can’t fall asleep” paint such a vivid picture of the writer’s struggles at that moment and does so in an artfully entertaining way. These moments shine and show Froilan’s writing at its best.

Clouded Thoughts is a thought-provoking and engaging collection of poetry. Even through the cynicism and the angst, the resounding message is to love yourself, trust yourself, and define yourself on your terms only. The urging for self-confidence shines through even in the poems that don’t address it, making the book an unexpected comfort.

Clouded Thoughts
By – Michael Froilan
Format – Kindle Edition
Print Length – 114 Pages
Genre – Poetry
My Ratings – 4.8/5

“A good poem is a contribution to reality. The world is never the same once a good poem has been added to it. A good poem helps to change the shape of the universe, helps to extend everyone’s knowledge of himself and the world around him.” And the book Clouded Thoughts by Michael Froilan has a lot of empowering poems which will surely benefit its readers.
I enjoy reading poetry and am a big lover of self-help literature, and here I discovered self-help poetry that was more practical, which I really enjoyed; it was like the cherry on top for me. Every poem in the book offers something distinct to its readers and is unique in its own right, but my favorite of the bunch is “SLOW DEATH,” which says a lot more in just a few words.
Some of us live hoping
we can leave behind
a legacy worth remembering.
And when we doubt our abilities,
we kill ourselves slowly.
When I initially saw the title, I assumed the book would contain anything hazy or present a less-than-clear perspective, but that was not the case. Following my reading of the book, I was fascinated by Poet's work since the poems he wrote were very powerful, and the poems function as a helping hand to their readers, which is the finest thing he could do.
My heart belongs to the book cover, which is just stunning. All of the poems are written in reader-friendly language and speak straight to the heart. Readers will find a handful of interesting, well-versed subjects within the pages sure to empower, soothe, and remind them of their truth after finishing the book.
Overall, it was a fantastic read; I couldn't put it down and couldn't wait to read more poetry like this that highlight the truth of life and underline the necessity of looking up when faced with adversity. It is strongly recommended to everyone, particularly poets, since it will be a joy for them.
Happy Reading

✍The book "Clouded thoughts " is an amazing book written by the author Michale Frolian.
This book revolves around the topics of love, recovery, spirituality, loss, and whatnot. It’s about understanding and growing along the way of our life’s journey.

✍ "Clouded Thoughts" is one of the promising books I have ever read.
The way the author has knitted these ballads and illustrated his emotions with phrases is what makes this book worth money and time.

✍Every verse has an intense significance inside and for sure each one of it has tickled my soul. It can keep a considerable effect on the mind of any reader. This book by Michael Froilan is a precious collection of some life-changing poetry. I would advise bookworms to pick this one as it is a must-read and the writer has done a lot of overwhelming work to make this book an achievement.

✍I don't have satisfactory words to illustrate the glamour and profoundness of the book. The content of the book makes you fall in love with the book and I must say the author had performed a tremendous job by wrapping such a topic beautifully.
I recommend this book to everyone and this book would be a decent gift to your loved ones.

✍The content of each poem streams smoothly and is broken down into understandable stanzas, some are short and personified.
Language is simple and lucid and easy to read and understand for all.

Neat Collection of Poems

This is a neat collection of poems. Most of Froilan's poems tell a story. All the poems have wonderful insights. Most of the poetry written in this book is written in free verse, but some rhyme and are structured as well. I would have liked to have seen some of the poems put together in groups that relate to a subject matter. Some express disgruntlement, some love, some gratitude, and there are also other subject matters as well. I recommend this book for people who enjoy poetry.

Clouded Thoughts by Michael Froilan is an engaging, elegant collection of highly relatable, thoughtful poems that I loved reading. As a Filipino-Canadian poet, he writes about his unique experiences, as well as those that we all understand. His love for his family and the woman he loves shines through, and he has a remarkably positive outlook on the human experience. He invites us to flourish and become the best version of ourselves we can be, even when it is challenging.

As a broad-minded, free-thinking spiritual person myself, I am familiar with the road less travelled, and have felt like I hit more than a few dead ends too. So I love Froilan’s optimism and determination to find opportunities in life.

My favourite poems included “Movement,” “Snubnosed,” “G-Way,” “Mirror You,” “Indoctrination,” “Spine,” “Earth Day,” “Pigmentation,” “Elementary,” “Mr Rogers 2020,” “Foreign Understanding,” “Gander,” “Awake,” “I Know Her,” and “Filtered Existence.”

I look forward to reading more of this man’s poetry.

Conflicted and conflicting - perhaps part of the mystery?

Anyone who writes poetry and puts it out there in this day and age is a brave and rare soul. I commend that, so it’s four stars.

I found the tone and quality uneven. There are moments of true beauty and inspiration such as, ‘seagulls plague a plastered blue sky’. But these are juxtaposed with an abundance of cliche, ‘the battlefield of life…’. I found the love poems touching and heartfelt but the rhyming poems less successful. A short reflection on the tarot card, ‘Two of Cups’ was my favourite.

The poet does have a unique voice and I hope will continue to hone their craft.

It was okay!

I felt like this was not my type of book. I really tried to get into it but it just didn't happen. I noticed spelling errors throughout. There was also language that I don't like to see in poetry books. The language was raw and not my favorite. This doesn't distract that the Author did good at conveying his thoughts.
