Anthony John Campos edits and preserves this captivating collection, part of Mexican oral tradition. There's a little bit of everything: saints; sinners; Satan; the strengths and foibles of men and animals. Each tale is short, but an entity in itself, making the collection a perfect read for someone who might be pressed for time. The stories are often funny, sometimes philosophical, and just plain appealing, whether you're interested in folklore or just want to read a good story. There are some neat line drawings to accompany the tales, too.

Some stories were very strange - information of seeming importance would be presented early on and then nothing would come of it. A handful had the kind of message you would expect from a folk tale but the rest were just bizarre and random.

FINALLY FINISHED!! This book was pretty fun, but I did feel like some of the stories were pretty pointless. Thanks for the book Lexi :) (who does not even have this app)

Incredibly interesting. I love reading about different cultures folk tales and for some reason these ones were so intriguing. I finished the book in an hour because it was so enthralling!

I wanna say two and a half. There was an equal number of good and bad stories here. Some of the bad ones were incomplete or dropped plots altogether which is not a good thing when the story is five pages long. Some stories were great, and overall the book provided some great brainstorming for future writing.

Small collection of folktales but overall a good one. I was reading it primarily for research but it was entertaining as well.
