First, let me start off by saying when someone really impresses me or blows my socks off I have an innate need to slap their back hard!! Yeah, I’m like that…but that said, @norianlove I’m hitting your back sir!!
This was the book I didn’t know I needed, but am so glad I read. Being on bedrest and needing a good book, not in the fantasy genre, I was pulled in by page one! 💕
The heartbreakingly, and sometimes tragic, emotional rollercoaster of Tatum and Autumn explored the gritty, romantic, in-your-face, and dear-to-me, urban drama—that Autumn would call, “stuff of legend.”
From the author’s own soundtrack (yeah it’s dope) to the curated Spotify playlist that gave me a nostalgic high, I was super immersed and impressed by the care and attention to detail.
What’s more?? I felt like I knew these people…nah, I definitely knew these people! Not only that but the best thing I can say without spoiling the plot, is that real love story here isn’t between a man and a woman, it’s between 𝐚 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐟𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝗼𝐧! ❤️
I wholly appreciate and applaud the author for silencing those who dare doubt the love of black fathers for their children. Sacrifice. Duty. Protection. Nurturing. All notions that don’t typically describe black men were vividly described in such a passionate way that will make you weep. 💕
I’ll finish by saying, THANK YOU Norian! You, sir, are a new-to-me author no longer. ✌🏽
I went through all kinds of changes reading this book. One character in particular had me wanting to wring her neck! Even one of the main characters made me feel like that once or twice in the book. I laughed, teared up, goofy smiled, got annoyed.... This book gives life. Real life. Real love and all of the hot, messy, tingling emotion that comes with it. Intellectual conversations, hood antics...I mean...what more could you ask for in a good read? Five stars plus five more!
I have read book after book after book. This is literally the best love story I’ve read in the last 2 years!! I could not put it down because it the journey was everything. The author characters came to life causing so many reactions. I could not stop reading. I love words and the wisdom, the words, the acts of love, trauma and everything in between was just brilliant.
This was my first read from this author but it won’t be the last.
This was my very first book from this author and I must say that I really enjoyed it. Initially I did not know whether I would like it or not but I am glad I put this out it was a very compelling read. I was so glad for the ending of this book but also very frustrated with Tatum's choice when it came to monique. I definitely recommend this read and I hope you all enjoy it because I did.
Let's Recap everything that happened on my "Norian Love Experience" with his latest project Autumn: A Love Story
1. He released a playlist to set a vibe I'm still bouncing to. 2. He created a #beautifulchallenge that dozens of Ladies participated in based off of (see #3) 3. He created a soundtrack of some of the best R & B I've heard all year! And gave it away for FREE. In which, one of the best songs on the soundtrack inspired the challenge mentioned in #2 4. He created a social media profile to further enhance the story which has a whole vibe and life of its own. 5. He created an exclusive "Norian Love Experience Box" which had the following: A. Candle B. Coffee mug C. The soundtrack D. Bookmark E. The fact I'm still talking and I haven't even gotten to the reason why you're reading this says so much about what this author has accomplished with his "experience." So I'll skip what else was in the box to get to the reason you're here.
The MFing BOOK!!
Have you been paying attention?
This is a book review so I probably should say something about the actual book but it feels unnecessary.
Where do you want to begin? Within the first chapter I went from laughing to crying. It is a masterpiece. This writer is just light years ahead of anyone I've read. I'll be a fan forever.
Honestly speaking, I didn't expect this book to be as good as it was. What an emotional ride !!! I cried, laughed, and told Tatum off like he was my Male BFF(LOL). What part of NOT TAKING CARE of His business was SO DIFFICULT? He caused the mess he was involved with. Enjoyed the book and the soundtrack that came along.
Tatum was a single father raising his son in his last year of pharmacy school. The day he met Autumn was a day to remember. After their first interaction, Tatum runs into Autumn again and she demands his help. Autumn and Tatum became fast friends and spent alot of time with each other. When they finally became more than friends, it was the love they both needed and wanted. Tatum pushed and supported Autumn to live her dream, but Tatum wasn't trying to live his. When Tatum son mother showed back up in her son life, she took matters to the extreme to get Tatum back as well. With Tatum finally giving in, he broke Autumns heart as well as his. When the truth about Tatum son mother came out, he finally realized where he needed to be. This book was something I would want to see on the screen, Tatum and Autumn was beautiful together, the love they had was for the ages. They laughed, loved, supported, fought and made up. I loved everything about this book and didnt want it to end. Norian, you wrote one damn good book!!!
So, I really wish they let you do half-stars on Goodreads because I really want to give this a solid 3.5. That being said, here are my thoughts:
The book being called "Autumn," is interesting because the book is about Tatum. In every sense of the word. Even most of the love story is told through his eyes. He's the only primary character. Everyone else is secondary, Autumn included. And she's not really the catalyst for anything that goes on in his life--it's actually the opposite. Also, the book is really wordy; so much dialogue and exposition. I feel like the author could have done a little more showing, and a little less telling. I could have knocked thousands of words off of this, tbh.
It bugged me that the author went through so much to prove that the people around Tatum had real life lessons to offer, when none of them did, lol. Not his parents or best friend. Everyone either gave him horrible advice, or said a lot of things without really saying anything. The book was written to imply that these people had real perspectives that he needed. And they didn't. I don't know if the holes in his musical knowledge were supposed to be humor, but they bugged me too. He's a songwriter!
Here's what I loved though: when everything started falling apart, it read a little like drama for drama's sake, but that balanced itself out, so kudos to the author for that. And the love story itself was pretty fucking wonderful. Creative, and free. Filled with all the passion and need and connection that soulmates are supposed to have. That part was exceptional (although as a character Autumn was a little obnoxious). They were hot, and very sweet, but also very sexy. And Tatum's dad skills were everything. Solid read.
First read by this author, and I am now a fan! I went through a whole wave of emotions throughout this read. Tatum, stole a piece of my heart from the very beginning. I was gutted when he found Solomon in such a vulnerable position like that. My heart broke for him as he had to quickly navigate how to care for his son alone. He was doing the damn thang, excelling in school, with Solly right by his side. Meeting Autumn was annoying, aggravating and a bit amusing for Tatum. She was a straight shooter, with her blunt words and over the top personality. They found an easy rhythm together as friends, who were soon inseparable. I loved them! The way Tatum pulled Autumn from the darkness, and gave life to her work, made all the difference to her. Their love was sweet, yet intense and all consuming. Autumn, gave Tatum the only happiness he ever had, outside of Solomon. He felt complete with her love. Then that bih Monique shows up to make life hell for Tatum. I was livid with all the evil and manipulative things she did, to keep Solly from him. Then dealing with Stone, and grieving JC, I thought Tatum would crumble! But he was as strong as they come! The love Tatum had for Solly made him sacrifice his own happiness, for his son. I was in tears when Tatum made that devastating decision to save Solly, but broke Autumn's heart. I was nervous for a minute, wondering if he would ever find a way out of this mess. That ending did leave a several unanswered questions, leaving the story open for a continuation. Which I would be so okay with! 😉. Great job! 👍👍👍
Wow, an amazing read. I'm a huge fan of the author, this was truly a rollercoaster, kudos to Tatum he really dealt with all of his problems with a calm. I so wanted to strangled Monique, she was a terrible person, I would say selfish. My favorite highlight was Ms Savanna her advised to her son was that of a mother's love.Didn't like some of the advised from Mr Johnny. Overall i love that Tatum gets his happy ending with the love 💘of his life Autumn. I definitely recommend this book and the rest of the authors books. You won't be disappointed.
This was a beautiful love story and one of the best I’ve read this year. This book had just the right amount of spice with a few twist and turns to keep you guessing. I absolutely adored Tatum!!
I am exhausted. I am frustrated and quite frankly upset. This story drained the füćķ out of me. Well, a love story this was, indeed, but not in the way you're thinking. These characters became my friends. I was so invested into their lives. I've laughed with them, I've empathized and sympathized with them, I've even cried with them 🙄🙄. I'm glad to be done with this book. I need to something light now to undo or get over this roller-coaster of emotions I've been on. I would recommend this book, but just know, it's alot going on in there.
What a beautiful refreshing love story. The love between autumn and Tatum was jumping off the pages. The author wrote it so well that I could feel it deep in my soul. I hated everything that Tatum went. I was definitely rooting for him and still am. Now that trifling heifer Monique has to go ASAP. The ending was happy but definitely left some unanswered questions. Overall I loved their journey and look forward to reading the next book.
Tatum was a beautiful, loyal, trusting, determined man. When he was young him and his ex Monique had a child unexpectedly. Although he didn't want to be with her he decided to make the best of the situation. He quickly manned up and married her. He stopped dealing in the streets and pursued a pharmacy career that would allow him to take care of his family. It wasn't the love he dreamed of, but he was content and willing to make it work. More than anything he wanted to be a different man from his father, he vowed to be present especially for his son. Life threw a wrench in his plans when Monique left him and the baby out of nowhere. He was devastated because he was fighting for his little family. However, he was determined to create a good life for his son. Years past and he is almost ready to graduate college, he is a winner of a special award, Solomon his son is smart and progressing well, and he is rebuilding a relationship with his father. Life is on the upward trend. He then meets Autumn whom he can't stand at first, but they become fast friends. Both of them are broken from previous relationships and neither have the desire to start something new. They become each others outlet slowly become solid friends. All of Tatum's free time was spent with Autumn. One night their friendship turns into something more and the spiritual connection that bound them was far more than either of them expected. They were insatiable for each other. All was going amazingly well, but it was odd to me that he didn't want her to meet Solomon. They both were clearly the most important people in his life, yet he chose to keep them separate. He made it seem like it was about his son, but to me it was like he was protecting this bubb!e him and Autumn were in. Out of nowhere Monique, his ex returns and his life slowly starts to unravel. Monique was the ultimate puppet master who selfishly stacked the deck to ensure she broke Tatum down to choose to be with her for the sake of his son. Every time he tried to fight her things kept getting worse, and he lost everything he worked for throughout the past 5 years. In order to ensure he was in his son's life he chose the love for his son over the passionate once in a lifetime love he felt for Autumn. It was the saddest thing, but also the most honorable. To see a man truly put his seed first was beautiful. It was heartbreaking because the justice system was a failure as usual and they allowed a woman that hasn't seen her son in 5 years to manipulate custody. It was disgusting and I know it was terrible for Solomon who only knew life with his father. This was a great book, but some of the sub characters were distracting and actually made me more interested in them. Also I wasn't fully connected to the main characters. I feel like there was passion between them, but lacked a connection to the readers. I felt like Monique held too much weight and although I couldn't stand her I wanted to know more about her. Along with his father. Over a solid read.
Autumn Love Story by Norian Love is an emotional, heartwarming romance that beautifully captures the highs and lows of love, friendship, and resilience.
Tatum is a hardworking, devoted father who has spent the last four years juggling the responsibilities of raising his son while working toward his pharmacy degree. He’s determined, selfless, and carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders when Autumn unexpectedly enters his life. Autumn, a quirky, free-spirited artist, is his complete opposite—funny, messy, and full of life. Despite their differences, they form a deep, instant connection, bonding over books and even creating their own adorable book club. Their friendship quickly turns into a whirlwind romance, a love that feels meant to be.
However, love isn’t always enough, and when a figure from Tatum’s past resurfaces, the foundation he and Autumn were building is shaken to its core. Their relationship, though intense and soulful, isn’t strong enough to withstand the storm, forcing them to go their separate ways. Tatum’s journey, in particular, was heartbreaking. He embodies the idea that God gives His toughest battles to His strongest soldiers, facing loss after loss in ways that felt both uncanny and devastating. I found myself hurting for him, even when I didn’t fully agree with the choices he made.
Autumn, on the other hand, was such a lovable and relatable character. She loved fiercely, with her whole heart, mind, and soul, making it easy to root for her happiness. The chemistry between her and Tatum was undeniable, but I wished the story had been told in the first person rather than third. While I felt their connection deeply, I believe experiencing their emotions through their own perspectives would have intensified that connection even more.
The side characters, particularly Stone and Tatum’s parents, added depth to the story, making the world feel fuller and more authentic. And since this is the start of a series, I can definitely see myself continuing to see where Norian Love takes these characters next.
If you enjoy emotional love stories with deep character development and a touch of heartache, Autumn Love Story is worth picking up.
In Autumn, A Love Story, Norian Love delivers a romance that is more than just heartwarming—it’s all-consuming. The strength of this book lies in its incredible character development and engaging storyline. Tatum and Autumn are real, relatable, and flawed in ways that make you root for them even harder. Their friendship-to-love progression is so natural and genuine, filled with humor, deep emotions, and a chemistry that quite literally torches the pages with its intensity. And then there’s Monique… let’s just say, you’ll be tempted to hire street thugs to deal with her. I felt every emotion with this one—laughter, tears, frustration—and I was cheering for Tatum and Autumn every step of the way.
Norian Love didn’t just write a love story; he created an emotional journey that exhausted me in the best possible way. I laughed, cried, and empathized with these characters as if they were real friends. This book is a rollercoaster of emotions, and by the end, I was drained in the most satisfying way.
This is a romance story complete with swoony sex scenes and an HEA. But it's also a multilayered story of love; not just romantic love, but also the love we have for ourselves, our family and our friends. It's about loving ourselves enough to believe in ourselves and choose our own paths even when those closest to us don't understand it. It's about loving ourselves enough to resist folding ourselves into the expectations others have for us. It's about loving ourselves enough to reclaim our lives when we've lost who we are. It's about learning to love past the hurt our closest family and friends may inflict upon us.
It's a beautiful, engrossing story with lots of layers that kept me reading. And the book has its own soundtrack that is sooo good. This book is a whole experience and I loved every minute of it!
As with any book, there were things that I liked and things that I didn’t. However, none of that takes away from the excellent writing of this book. What I did not like was personal stuff. (Spoiler Alert) I just thought that Tatum was very nonchalant about his marriage to Monique. Why was he still married to her 4 years later. As savvy and purposeful as he was, it was hard for me to believe that he would have left a loose end like that. Now the love between Autumn and Tatum was so pure. The author did an excellent job of peeling back the layers and allowing us to witness such a beautiful love. The ending of the story did not do their love any justice. It was just very abrupt and brief…
Mannn this was so crazy realistic. The way Autumn wanted her Father's approval to the way Tatum felt after what happened with his father. They were raised so different but really loved each other. Autumn as well as Monique were raised with there fathers but still felt like something was missing in their life. Tatum had no father per say but he turned out just fine. I could see both parts of this love story because each had to make sacrifices for the love they shared. This book had my feelings all over for real but I loved how it flowed and how realistic it is, this situation. I wouldn't change nothing about this because you have to go through some things to grow through those things
Okay so my thoughts… while I think this was a well written book, I also think that it should’ve ended about 120 pages before it did. It felt like everything that could happen to the main character happened and had conclusions and I was stilllll reading. This felt neverending.
On a positive note, I did like how Tatum loved Autumn when he started. Everything after Monique came back was dumb. Maybe because I’m not a parent I don’t get it but the “for the kids” element of this book made no sense to me. The whole moving back in together and pretending to be happy so she doesn’t take the kid?! That lost me and then a lot of the other decisions and convos were like ehhhhh. The book still has redeeming qualities though, it was just long winded and a lot.

The romance genre is NOT my thing, but I really loved this book! It took me through a wave of emotions. I enjoyed seeing the love and devotion Tatum had for his son and Autumn. Love them or hate them, the other characters were very integral in the shaping of the story and I appreciated how they impacted Tatum's life and had a piece in making him the man he was. I'm not into spoilers, but I wanted to "disappear" Monique myself. Ooh, that woman was a piece of work!! Through all the ups and downs, I was happy for Fatima and Blue!! Added bonus was looking at the art work on IG and listening to the soundtrack; amazing. I would recommend this book and I'm looking forward to reading Norian's other books.
I really enjoyed this book. I literally felt all the emotions that went along with reading Autumn. The realization of this story was so real, especially the drug addiction that I can identify with, but by the grace of God, I'm still here. His father, "though he knew was dying," lived his life to the fullest with the time he had left while forming a relationship with his children. Second chances are a blessing if you're able to get that chance. I'm glad Tatum decided to follow his heart because sometimes, when it comes to love, a second chance might be too late. Now... I need a book about Stone🤣

I'm always happy to discover a new male romance author , I really enjoyed Norian Love's book Autumn. It's like picking the brain of a man about what he considers romance, I happy to see that for the most part we see things the same for the most part. I enjoyed Tatum and Autumn's love, I enjoyed how they met , I enjoyed their friendship , and I fell in love with their love. The secondary characters are unforgettable, they made me laugh , mad, sad and glad it was truly wonderful getting to know them. I look forward to more books by this author , I recommend this book.
This book has a good storyline but was a little confusing at times. Tatum, a young man raising a son and trying to put himself through school but at the same time is also doing something illegal that could get him into a lot of trouble. He starts dating a young lady, Autumn, after they meet unexpectedly and not so good circumstances. Then a curveball is thrown in mix, because he's married and the wife who left years ago returns. They go through a lot of changes but love wins in the end.
So, I read a lot of contemporary romance by black authors. There's usually always a connection between the main characters and you can just feel the love dripping between the pages. This story was not like that for me. I didn't feel anything between Autumn and TC. Autumn's character also was not pleasing. She was selfish, annoying, and aggravating. She just did not have anything to offer and did not seem like a good match for TC.
Over the last year since I have been reading this authors work there is one thing I know can expect is a female character that I can’t stand. This story was truly unexpected for me because the author touched on career paths that I didn’t think he would ever touch. The live between father and son makes your cherish your parents a little more than the day before. The feeling evoked by lovers has you ready to chase paradise. Autumn is my favorite season in real life.
This story was very thorough and detailed. I enjoyed reading Autumn and Tatum’s journey. They were good together and the chemistry was very apparent. I feel like there was more attention placed on Tatum’s story and towards the ending it felt like Autumn was an afterthought. I liked how realistic the story was and how the author touched on the importance of black male fathers and the family court system.
I enjoyed reading Autumn: A Love Story, however I did find it to be unnecessarily wordy. There were pages and pages of dialogue between two characters, which I skimmed because, like damn - that’s a lot of dialogue!! Tatum was a sweetie and I liked Autumn, just wished she didn’t always need propping up.
