I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Making Memories is a great book to introduce children to mindfulness and the different ways they can practice it. The book gives a brief introduction then goes on to focus on different things they can do or practice to help them make positive memories, practice mindfulness and express themselves. The book gives short introductions to things such as journaling, scrapbooking, meditation, keeping spaces happy and tidy, gratitude and much more more. Each page is bright and colourful and engaging. Children need more these days to help them with their mental health and practicing mindfulness is a great tool to have. I definitely recommend this book for children aged 9+.
This is a gorgeously illustrated book, with lots of fun colors. It is jam-packed with tips and tricks for kids and adults to find ways to be calm and relax via journaling or scrapbooking. It would make a great gift for kids when paired with scrapbooking or journaling supplies.
I didn’t know this was a kid’s book, but was pretty obvious once I started reading it. It’s cute, though. I will give it to my granddaughter when she gets s little older. (10, maybe?)
As someone who journals themselves I wanted to read this book to get some new creative ideas. I've recently turned my bland journal into a colorful mix of bullet journaling and scrapbooking and it has made a world of difference. I'm more excited to journal now and honestly it's a lot of fun mixing ideas. I think this is a great book for kids to learn how to journal and be creative. Journaling is very important for expressing emotions you usually keep hidden and because of that it is an important tool for children to learn about when they don't know how to express themselves.
I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
This book doesn’t just give ideas on how to journal it focuses on mindfulness. I like how the different concepts are described so if you’ve never heard of something before, the general concept of it is nicely explained. Lots of different mindful activities to do. (Special Thanks to Net Galley, Amy Tangerine & DK for this Amazing Book!)
This book shows that the habit of journaling is very helpful for mindfulness. I actually journal for 5 minutes each morning and evening (or before bed).
In the morning, I write three things I am grateful for and I want to do with the day. Then I read positive affirmations to nourish my mind.
In the evening I write three good things that happened that day, and I thought about or learned that day. It's so simple that I've been able to do it for about 3 years.
I feel refreshed when I write down what's in my head. Since the journal is not open to the public, it will not be read by anyone and will not cause any trouble to anyone.
When I read my journal from a month ago, I sometimes find myself laughing and wondering why I was so angry about something so stupid.
If you're a beginner, you don't need to spend hours writing by hand as this book does. I love using the smartphone app “5 Minute Journal.”
It also has a free version, which has beautiful visuals and is highly recommended.
Fun, Colorful, vibrant and wonderful book. Each page is filled with ideas and everything is beautifully illustrated. It would be an awesome gift to kids starting out with journaling or even adults who love illustrated books. Each page is presented in an awesome creative way. Enjoyed reading and taking in all the illustrations.
I didn’t realize this was for children until I started reading it. So, I’m glad I borrowed it rather than bought it as I don’t have children. That said, it does have useful ideas for getting started in journaling for the targeted age group.
This is a VERY short book. This book is geared at a younger, like middle school age, reader. It has some useful ideas and very beautiful illustrations.
