SWEET DREAMS, the first full-length novel in the new Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast paranormal cozy mysteries. Beth Dolgner writes paranormal fiction and non-fiction. Her interest in things that go bump in the night really took off on a trip to Savannah, Georgia, so it's fitting that the Betty Boo, Ghost Hunter Series of paranormal romance novels takes place in that spooky city. Beth's young adult novels, the steampunk Manifest and the urban fantasy A Talent for Death, also have paranormal elements. Her non-fiction work includes Georgia Spirits and Specters and Everyday Voodoo.

Since Georgia is obviously on her mind, you might think Beth lives there. Well, she did, but these days she and her husband live in Berlin, Germany, with their three cats. Beth misses those mild Georgia winters and proper iced tea, but there's no reason her characters can't enjoy those things.

Beth also enjoys giving presentations on Victorian death and mourning traditions as well as Victorian Spiritualism. She has been a volunteer at an historic cemetery, a ghost tour guide and a paranormal investigator. Right now she's chronicling the best spooky spots around Europe.

I have been really into paranormal cozies lately, so this book seemed like it would be right up my alley. At first, I admit to not being sure I was going to like this book because I wasn’t sure how the author was going to do this when the ghost was the one murdered, but there was no body. I shouldn’t have worried because things progressed along very nicely. I really liked the characters, this plot was interesting, and the book was well written. After the very intriguing ending, I am now fully invested in the next book which I hope comes along soon! Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

***************

-------------------

A fairly generic cozy mystery with a supernatural touch.

At the beginning I found the story quite appealing and the ‘ghost hunter’ set-up quite credible, but then the story dragged on and the credibility went down the drain.

The novel falls into the category readable, but not recommended.

Good Paranormal Activity
Emily Buchanan has always dealt with ghosts at Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast—after all, it is next to the town’s historic cemetery. This is an awesome book. Full of paranormal activity and scary things. I borrowed this book from KindleUnlimted. This in no way affects my opinion of this book.

A well written and well edited paranormal cozy mystery. We learned enough about the characters to keep them interesting without bogging down in back-story. There were enough clues that I figured out who the killer was before the MCs, but I didn't feel like the characters missed anything too glaringly obvious. I look forward to reading more in this series!

Captivating ghost story

Other than Stephen King novels, I don't usually gravitate toward paranormal tales. Sweet Dreams find Emily, innkeeper at Eternal Rest, haunted by a ghost murdered in the cemetery next door, and the story transitions into a murder mystery. I look forward to reading other books in the series.

This was my first Beth Dolgner's book, and won't be my last. This is the first book in the Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast Series, a Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series. I love ghost stories! Emily is an amazing character. The supporting characters are great. I liked Sage, a psychic medium, and Emily's best friend. The storyline is highly intriguing, and captivating. The plot is well-crafted, twisted, and gripping. Patricia Shade did a fantastic job with the narration. I enjoyed it! I am looking forward to listening to Late Checkout, the next book in the series. This is an excellent Paranormal Cozy Mystery, and I highly recommend it.

When you run a Haunted Bed and Breakfast, you have to be prepared for anything to happen. It does in this sweet cozy with helpful, eager guests, a medium, and a ghost determined to have her murder solved and punished. Emily has her hands full, and sleep doesn't always bring the sweet dreams she wants.

If you are looking for a relaxing, yet intriguing listen or read, you won't go wrong with this one. See if you can get to the solution before Emily does. It will be a challenge. That I promise you.

Love this take on ghost stories!

I’m delighted to have found this author. This series, premised on a B&B where the ghosts are the feature instead of the bug, is going to rock! Dolgner’s writing style makes the house’s resident “unseen guests” a part of the story and setting without making them sound either foolish or eerie. Very nice plot twists, skillful character development, and well-structured dialogue make the book very enjoyable. This is a series well worth the read.

I loved this book. This is what I would call a grown up cozy paranormal mystery because unlike most of the other books the characters don't actually talk or really see ghosts, there talking is done though seance, dreams and moving objects, making it more believable and highly entertaining. I liked the characters, who are a nice bunch and worked well together as they tried to interpret the clues the ghost was leaving behind for them. Which worked well for both the paranormal and mystery side of the story with the two combining. I had guessed who the killer was but I enjoyed piecing the clues together with the main characters. I also liked the setting for the book, the B&B made for a great place for the introduction of new characters and with the graveyard next door a good reason for so many ghosts to be present, not that you met many. Just a good story all round and a series I will be visiting again.
Emily's B&B has always been haunted but something is wrong with the resident ghosts, They has been a lot of activity lately with things being moved and guests suffer from bad dreams but it is only when her new employee is hurt that she really starts to worry. Even after a seance where the ghost was unable or unwilling to talk, Emily struggles to work out the message is. Believing it is a new ghost she must work out why the ghost has suddenly turned up. The only thing she can come up with is necklace found in the graveyard. But a lost necklace isn't the only secret the graveyard holds. When bones are found in a shallow grave Emily and her friends will need to work out what happen to her if they hope to help the ghost. That is it the ghost is the murdered girl from the graveyard.
I liked the narrator. She used distinct voices to bring life to the characters making it enjoyable.

Paranormal: 👻👻👻

While reading Sweet Dreams I kept thinking how much I wanted to know more about our main character Emily, because I felt that it was lacking that character development. Although it gave a slight overview of her and an even slimmer sight of her past. I also wish there would have been more of her communicating with the spirits of the house. Or at least she would have had been a little more in tuned with the spirits of the house.

Sage seemed to be the best of anyone with the spirits being a medium, but I feel like if there was a little more between Emily and the spirits it would have cemented more about her connection with them. Instead of her just living In the house with the spirit that they spoke about Mrs. Thomas.

One thing I will give this story is the culprit was not who I expected by any means. So I definitely give major kudos for that aspect! I just wish there would have been more for a 200 page book in regards to Emily and the whole dynamic with the spirits.

With the cliffhanger that Beth left us with I now have to pick up the second book so I can know what is going on!!

No lie, this series is pretty darn binge-able. I started with the intent of drawing it out, but just kept diving into the next book as soon as I finished one.

Anywho. Emily owns Eternal Rest, a bed and breakfast next to a cemetery. Not only is it a picturesque Victorian, it also comes with more than a few ghosts. Which is not a problem for Emily or her guests, because they're all pretty chill about having ghosts around. Well, most are cool with it.

The newest ghostly addition pops in when a body is found in a shallow grave. Emily feels obligated to do a little investigating since (a) the body was found in the cemetery attached to her house, (b) the ghost is acting out INSIDE her house, and (c) said acting out might be putting her new assistant in danger. Which is unfortunate since Emily REALLY needs an assistant to help around the B&B.

As the clues start to reveal themselves, Emily's suspect list just seems to grow. It takes a few ghostly visions, a few visits to the impromptu grave, and a sudden revelation before she figures things out. *thumbs up*

Sweet Dreams is Book 1 in a 7 book series, "Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast". Emily has taken over the business of the Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast (plus cemetery) from her deceased grandparents. The house is old and in need of many repairs; and while business is steady, she is still feeling the squeeze.

Emily has many guests at the B & B, but not all of them are paying guests. She has ghosts, one of them her former employee Mrs. Thompson, and now there's a new one; but this one is not as sedate as the others! Her best friend Sage, a psychic helps her by doing readings and seances, to entertain the guests, but this new ghost is difficult to communicate with.

With the arrival of the furniture moving, jewelry taking, dream dispersing new ghost; Emily is beginning to feel something that she didn't before -- fear!

Will Emily be able to find out the story of this new ghost (her name, who killed her and why)?
Will Emily be comfortable in her home again? And will Emily be able to communicate with her deceased husband Scott?

This is a cozy paranormal mystery for 13+, with no racy scenes, and no foul language! Looking forward to Book #2!

Short, Sweet and Satisfying!

This book was cozy, quick and satisfying. I like all the characters, the setting, and the fact that ghosts were present early on in the story.

Emily Buchanan runs a haunted bed and breakfast. She knows ghosts are around, and is not afraid of them…usually. Emily lost her beloved husband, Scott, to a car wreck. She keeps wishing his ghost would speak to her, but her psychic friend, Sage, tells her that Scott had most likely moved onto the next phase of existence.

I wasn’t scared by this story. But I am bothered by seances. However, everything, except the murderer, was benign and friendly. For once I guessed who the murderer was. That didn’t disappoint me because I thought up a million reasons why the murderer did the deed. All my guesses were wrong.

This book was only 171 pages and very cozy. It is the kind of story I enjoy when I need a relaxing read. Life has been hectic. This little trip to Emily’s B&B kept me entertained and relaxed. I feel refreshed, as if I really had a pleasant weekend at a nice little B&B.

Good

Widowed Emily is the owner/proprietor of the Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast, a haunted house on the edge of a graveyard in a rural Georgia town.
Emily is used to being haunted, but when bad things start happening to her new employee, she knows she needs to find out why.
And when her investigation suggests that there was a murderer, Emily and he medium friend Sage, both want to know who and when…

This is a fun tale, with a cast of interesting characters. Emily is a widow, still mourning for her husband who died unexpectedly.
Sage is her long-time best friend, who is able to speak to the spirits.
Add in a few ghostly regulars, the local graveyard sexton, and a revolving cast of guests, and you find an entertaining read, with an intriguing mystery.

The book ends with a bit of a book hook, but not a really cliffhanger as such, and the potential for future ghostly shenanigans.

An enjoyable read for the paranormal cosy mystery enthusiast.

I have to admit reading this in the middle of the night not the smartest idea especially when you have a overactive imagination and everything you hear is scaring you.
I like the idea of a B and B that also owns the cemetery. At first I thought ghost stayed and rented the B and B lol but no the Alive come and stay but their are ghosts who stay or live there.
In this book you learn the owner is a widower not sure for how long whose bff is a medium and she has ghosts that stay at her B and B normally other than typical haunting nothing much exciting happens though she joes her deceased husband will show but he doesn’t.
Somehow a spirit does show who is a bit strong and moves furniture and is trying to give a message and talk about her death. Emily is the owner and due to this new haunting decides to help this spirit in order to bring calmness back.
I will say the killer was a bit obvious and I’m curious on how the rest of this series goes.

Audio book
Beth Dolgner wrote a very detailed story . This caught my eye because not many wrote about ghost. Not only that but a B&B that is across from a cemetery.
Heroine is Emily

Emily runs the haunted B&B that her grandparents left to her. Things start to go haywire when a ghost is trying to tell Emily and her medium friend Sage who killed her. She’s trying to tell them though dreams and other ways. The ghost targets Trevor, an old friend of Emily , because that’s who the ghost believes did her in . Things really start when a female body is found hidden in the cemetery. Who owes the body , was it Trevor.

You will be floored at the end when you find out who killed the ghost

Patricia Shade Performers was great. First time I heard her. Was very impressed. Her voice is strong, clear and her doing each character with her tone was great

I absolutely loved this book and am now hooked.

It was a sad, fun and emotional read. I think I really liked this book because I lost my husband a few years ago and always look for signs that he might be around. I love that in the story it is just taken for granted the house and grounds are haunted and no one questions it.

Emily the widowed owner of Eternal Slumber B&B ( I would so love to stay there) and her friend Sage, a psychic medium make contact with an unknown ghost that at first, is just moving things around to get attention but it soon escalated into more violent attacks.

Her B&B has a cemetery on the grounds which is being renovated and stirs up the ghostly activity. Seances, dreams and automatic writing seem to be the ghost/s preferred method of communication.

Can Emily and her friends solve the mystery before someone really gets hurt?

Gripping Paranormal Cozy Mystery

I loved book 1 in this series after reading a prequel to this series enticed me to read more.
Young widow Emily runs the "Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast, with a cemetery on the property. There are resident ghosts which delight the guests looking for a "ghost experience". A new ghost turns up with a different attitude to any others and it is up to Emily and her psychic friend Sage to try to communicate and solve the mystery of this new ghost.
The story takes some interesting turns and scary moments for the characters. The diverse characters are well written and it is easy to become well acquainted with them. The book is well paced reaching a great climax - I could not put it down, wanting to know what would happen next. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
Highly recommended for lovers of Paranormal &/or cozy mysteries.

I really enjoyed this one A Bed and Breakfast with added ghosts what's not the like. An upturn in haunting causes the owner and her medium friend to investigate when a skeleton is discovered in the adjoining graveyard. This is a really well written story with a top quality narration that really compliments the tale. Loved the main character who has a nice sense of humour, courage and attitude. The mystery is good with a culprit I did not figure out until near the end. Excellent I will definitely be listening to more of these. I received a complimentary copy from Storyorigin and am leaving a honest voluntary review

While this was a good cozy mystery, well written and well narrated it just wasn't great for me. I didn't find a lot of humor or romance or anything else other than a cut and dry haunting to solve a mystery. The storyline and flow were all good and the narration was smooth. Lots of good characters, some repetition. I was confused by Emily, she sounds like she would be younger but then it mentioned her taking naps too - her character confused me some. There just wasn't anything "more" that made it stand out for me personally.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

This is my first introduction to the author, Beth and I must say I really enjoyed this audiobook. Emily the main character is the proud owner of a haunted Bed and Breakfast Inn. One day, the Inn’s ghost begin to misbehave more than the usual and Emily is seeing much more activity. Cue in her bestie, Sage and they have a seance to see what’s going on and that’s really when this book kicks off. We have a great murder mystery to solve. The narrator did so well with the narration. It was easy for me to distinguish the characters voices. If you’re looking for a spooky listen, then look no further!
Looking forward to listening to the next book.

Intriguing first series book

The author does a spot on story about running a bed and breakfast inn, without boring her readers with too much detail.
The ghosts add, not only interest, but a few chills to the story, and I'm looking forward to learning more about them in the next stories.
The main characters are relatable, and sympathetic, with realistic dialogue, and interaction.
They are well fleshed out, but with plenty of room to grow both as individuals, and friends.
I'm looking forward to the next stories in the series, and highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good story, regardless of genre.

Haunted Bed and Breakfast meets Haunted Cemetery

Emily owns the Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast and the cemetery that is attached to it, oh and by the way they are both haunted. The ghosts are all well behaved but there is a new one lately who seems to be troubled and trying to find out who murdered them, so there is a disturbance in the grounds that Emily and her friend Sage must find the answer to so they can get Eternal Rest back to being a happy haunting ground once again. I recommend you read this para-cozy mystery and help solve a decades old murder along with Emily and Sage, you won’t be sorry you did.

Great ghost story.

This is the first mystery by Beth Dolgner I have read. It captured my attention from the first page to the last. The characters were well written without being overly stated. The interaction between the main characters and the ghosts haunting the house were at times funny but also became more mysterious as the story progressed. It was great reading a murder mystery without the use of vulgar language and description to get the feel of rising tension as the characters pursued answers to solve the mystery. It was hard to put down till I finished it. I recommend this book to anyone who loves ghost mysteries.

Audiobook: This was my first experience with Beth Dolgner's work and it was entertaining and fun. Emily runs a bed and breakfast that is located next to a cemetery and is reputed to be haunted by ghosts. Emily contacts her friend Sage, a physic medium, to help her to understand the inexplicable happenings going on in her place, when the ghostly activity becomes more serious than strange noises and unexpected cold spots. I recommend this book to others who enjoy a good mystery. Patricia Shade's narration was great as her voice was pleasant. I was given a free copy of the audiobook and I have voluntarily left this review.

The friendly ghosts are a part of the experience at Eternal Rest Bed and Breakfast. When negative things start happening, Emily works to uncover the truth of things, and set the spirit at ease.

I enjoyed this well written cozy by Beth Dolgner. The storyline and characters were great. This is a series I’ll definitely be following.

Patricia Shade gave an entertaining performance. I would certainly listen to more of her narrations.

Emily runs Eternal Rest B & B an old victorian home and on the same property is an cemetary. The home is haunted so people come for spooky visits and her friend Sage who is a medium holds seances on weekends with the guests. Emily is recently widowed so she is struggling to run it by herself. Recently there has been a new spirit that is not friendly and they try to find out who it is and why the frightening things are happening. Based on the cover art work I thought it was going to be a cute, light, ghosty cozy mystery to read in between my more intense thrillers. I found it was not a typical cozy it was a little more intense and spooky. I really enjoyed it and already have the 2nd book downloaded ready to read.
