I’m going to rate each novella in the books separately:
Shadows of Opus by Becca Blake: ⭐️⭐️ 2.5 This story was eh. The world she has created is noting new. A human city that detests vampires and other magical creatures like werewolves but seems to be fine with elves. There is a guild who hunt down these “monsters” and that is where we find the heroin Jordan. It was a quick read and she finds herself in trouble most of the book. Her rescuer Reyes is a vampire who is after the same group as her. I will say that they do end up sleeping together in the last chapter and it felt awful fast to be falling into bed with someone you still think of as inhuman. Someone you contemplated killing a few times. I won’t be reading more of the series. It didn’t really capture my attention. It wasn’t really a world I wanted to dive into and the characters were forgettable.
High Stakes by Ali Winters: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Now this story just puts the first one to shame. I loved the world she created, the storyline and the characters. Eleanor was a kick-a heroine. I mean literally. She was an incredible bounty hunter who knew what she was doing and how to get the job done. No bumbling, stupid, stumbles into things to accomplish them PI here. She was brave, smart, resourceful and fun to read. Then there’s Travis the vampire. He was a gentleman who wanted this woman but respected her boundaries. I mean he knew she was his mate but told her he wouldn’t push her. She being the strong, independent woman she isn’t doesn’t jump right into it but says, date me the human way first and we will go from there. I totally put more of her books on my to be read list.
Scarlett the Vampire Hunter by Margo Bond Collins: I can’t even rate this thing. I know they are supposed to be short novellas but geez this was like the length of a jacket cover.
Vampire by Bliss by Cyndi Faria: 2 maybe 3 stars This book was hard to read it’s obviously a novella for a previous book. There’s no real plot line. It’s just how this couple miss each other and have sex.
Vampires don’t drink Blueblood by Liky Luchesi: ⭐️⭐️⭐️ I want to start out by saying this one is way darker then the other but I really liked the story. I want to read more about this paranormal FBI devision. This book talks about the brutal murder of children though so it was a little hard for me to stomach.
A Beat of Honor by Amir Lane: ⭐️⭐️ This novella dragged on for me. It took a really long time for any real plot to start to happen. I mean it only has 10 chapters and I was still skimming it bc it felt so slow.
**Currently JUST a review for High Stakes by Ali Winters, a part of this wonderful collection... possibly more to come at a later date**
Wowza! I devoured this in absolutely one night. Short, funny, engaging and action-packed with a kiss of mystery and suspense, if you're looking for a perfect mixture of the supernatural and crime-fighting , this is the perfect novel for you! Definitely something that I will read over and over and over again and something that will always travel with me whereever I wander!
Looking forward to more from the ever-talented Ali Winters!
My review is for High Stakes by Ali Winters. Eleanor darling is a vampire bounty hunter and is definitely and interesting heroine. After getting assigned her next job, she instead gets asked by Travis Devlin to assist him with recovering a family heirloom. They go through a lot throughout this mission including strong feeling of mutual attraction. Hope to see this story continue.
My review is for High Stakes by Ali Winters. Wow what a fast pace read that read in one night. This is a funny with some spark and a little bit of mystery.
This review is for Vampires Don't Drink Blue Blood by Lily Luchesi
In 1988, paranormal special agent Angelica Cross defeated a pack of werewolves that left her former partner scarred for life. Twenty years later, the murders have begun again, and Angelica needs to work with a clueless human to stop them before more children are killed.
Angelica Cross is a force to be reckoned with and she doesn't disappoint in this story story. She is determined to find who is killing the children and when she is patterned with a a human will he learn about the paranormal world or be left in the dark.
Even though this was a novella there were plenty to twists and turns. Many that I did not see coming.
Action, murder, paranormal, vampires, werewolves and plenty of twists made this a 5 star read for me. Also it was always good to see a personal side of Angelica.
