Hunted is the third book in one of my favourite series of police procedurals and I think Caro Savage's writing keeps getting better and better! If you haven't read the first two books (Jailbird and Villain, both published by Boldwood Books), don't worry, the author provided a brief summary of what exactly happened to Bailey in the past and how it still affects her daily life. Having said that, these are spoilers and if I were you, I'd start from the beginning and enjoy this very well-written series.
Similarly to the first two books, Caro Savage opens this latest instalment with a bang- a professional killer is trying to get information out of a Senior Crown Prosecutor on the only witness in an upcoming trial. Yes, you've guessed it, the witness is our intrepid undercover police officer Bailey Morgan. Once, the victim is found, it is clear that Bailey's life is in grave danger. The undercover operations department have a bold suggestion for Bailey- she is to become a bait for the fantom killer, nicknamed Rex. The hunt begins...and it isn't immediately obvious who is hunting who or who is going to prevail in the end.
I found all aspects of the book fascinating. Bailey is a complex character, still dealing with the aftermath of her first undercover job. One thing is indisputable- Bailey has a strong moral compass and a kind and comassionate heart. Is it wrong of me to say that I found the character of Rex utterly fascinating?I don't want to give away the twist that took me by surprise and completely changed Rex and Bailey's deadly game of hunt and surival, both mental and physical.
The pace is absolutely fantastic in this book with its short, action-packed chapters. I found it absolutely impossible to put the book down until its gripping, nail-biting climax and epilogue. I dearly love having a peek at the last pages, but this time I wasn't tempted at all- I knew the book is to be savoured, page by page.
I can honestly say that I've become a big fan of Caro Savage and can't wait for her next book to come out. Highly recommended to anyone who enjoys a well-written, fast-paced police procedural with a strong female lead.

l loved this book hunted great story written again in the Crystal Palace area where I come from the story then moved on to Watford where I now live hopefully there will be more Detective Constable Bailey Morgan soon lots of twists and turns

This is by far one of the best series I have ever read, completely obsessed!!
Absolutely love how each story is so different but yet still links together, the main character Bailey is definitely someone everyone can root for. You get to learn so much about how undercover police operations work which I’ve found super interesting.
Can’t wait for more books by this author because I am hooked for sure, if you love thrillers then you will love these books.

I have been a fan of Caro’s work for a while now. ‘Hunted’ is the third book in the series featuring Detective Constable Bailey Morgan. I read and loved the first two books in the series and so I had high hopes for ‘Hunted’. I wasn’t to be disappointed either because I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Hunted’ but more about that in a bit.
DC Bailey Morgan is certainly an intriguing character and not somebody to be messed with. A lot of the time, Bailey works within a normal police team but on occasion she is ‘seconded’ to an undercover department and she has to work deep undercover. Previous operations have been very successful and have led to prosecutions. When the story starts, Bailey is getting ready to testify in a case involving a major drug death. The accused wants to prevent the matter from reaching court and will do anything to ensure that’s the case. Bailey has to protect herself, protect her loved ones and at the same time track down the man, who is trying to kill her. I kept my fingers crossed that she would achieve all that and that the guilty party was punished. What happens? Well for the answer to that question and more you are just going to have to read the book for yourselves to find out as I am not going to tell you.
Oh my giddy aunt, as soon as I started reading ‘Hunted’ I knew that I was going to find it nigh on impossible to put this book to one side for any length of time and so it proved to be. My Kindle wasn’t exactly glued to my hands but it might as well have been because it travelled everywhere with me. I couldn’t bear to miss a single second of this slightly scary story. The more of the book that I read, the more I wanted to read and the quicker the pages seemed to turn. At one point the pages were turning that quickly that it was almost as if they were turning themselves and the page numbers became a blur. I became so wrapped up in the story that I lost all track of time and just how quickly I was getting through the book. All too quickly I reached the end of ‘Hunted’ and I had to say goodbye to Bailey. I found ‘Hunted’ to be the true definition of an unputdownable, page turner of a read, which kept me guessing and which kept me on the edge of my seat.
‘Hunted’ is superbly written but then I have come to expect nothing less from Caro Savage. The author clearly knows how to grab the reader’s attention and draw them into what proves to be one hell of a story. For me, the story hit the ground running and maintained a fast pace throughout. Reading ‘Hunted’ felt like being on a rather scary and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns along the way. Just when you thought that you could take a minute to gather your thoughts, take a breather and reclaim your stomach then off the action would go again. I have to say that some details of the story are rather gruesome in nature but I didn’t let the gruesomeness put me off the book or affect me.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Hunted’ and I would definitely recommend this book to other readers. I will certainly be reading more of Caro’s work in the future. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a very well deserved 5* out of 5*.

Detective Constable Bailey Morgan works as an undercover police officer when required, alternating with her normal CID duties. She has already been involved in a few horrific jobs, once in a car-stealing ring where she was mercilessly tortured when her cover was blown. She has the scars to prove it and she knows she won’t rest until she has tracked down the culprit, and also undercover in a women’s prison and posing as an up-and-coming gangster with fingers in many pies looking to buy a large consignment of arms from a notoriously hard family called the Molloys. Her previous handler DI Frank Grinham is off recovering from injuries sustained in this last case and she is now working for ambitious DI Stella Gates in her undercover roles.
Charlie Benvenuto is an angry and very worried man. He knows that his whole lucrative future is threatened, including the loss of his two daughters and loving wife, if he is found guilty of big-time drug trafficking in his trial in three weeks. And he knows exactly who he holds responsible – DC Bailey Morgan, the undercover officer who posed as a wholesale drugs buyer and who will be the key witness against him. The hitman, known simply as Rex, who Charlie has paid a large sum of money to has already tortured and killed Senior Crown Advocate Jeremy Westerby and now has Bailey in his sights. And Rex’s impressive cv and reputation as never failing in his work means no witness, no trial. When Stella informs Bailey of Westerby’s death and the apparent threat to her own life, Bailey knows hiding in a safe house is not the answer. This was a thrilling ride from start to finish, well told with loads of action and excitement. I liked that it was part police and part Bailey having to go it alone, relying on her wits and training to stay alive, and also involving an intriguing psychological twist that nobody could see coming. Although this is book three and it is great to read these in order getting to know Bailey better, it works fine as a standalone as all the history necessary is explained. I look forward to more Bailey Morgan stories. 5*

I don't think I noticed before agreeing to review this book that it's the third in a series but it really didn't seem to matter. This book stood on its own just fine and I didn't feel that I'd missed anything by skipping ahead to this point in the series arc. Hunted is a procedural-style police thriller and the person being hunted is undercover cop Bailey Morgan. Who is this Rex guy on her trail? Why is she a target? Will Bailey figure it out before he catches up with her?
This book is full of fascinating psychology, lots of suspense, and a smattering of lighter beats as Bailey interacts with her stereotypically British mother. It's a real page-turner and I read it in just two sittings.
My only criticism is that some of the ways Rex gets one-up on Bailey just didn't feel like things a seasoned undercover cop like Bailey should let happen. She gets a room at a hotel with zero security when there's a hit out on her? She agrees to dinner at her best friend's house, whose name and address aren't hard to find, when she's not even supposed to be in town? She's goes ALONE to places she thinks Rex might be in hopes of catching him? These are rookie moves and felt a bit like plot conveniences to let the book take longer. It was otherwise well written and entertaining so I didn't mind, but I noticed.
All in all I had a great time reading this book and I think if police thrillers are your thing, this series needs to be on your TBR!

I thought this was a very enjoyable read. It started off really well and got better the more I read. I really liked that the story was told mainly through the two main characters and a number of side characters and from their perspectives. Most characters were likeable, realistic and believable and I felt the story flowed really well. I loved the cliff chapter chapter endings which made me want to continue reading to see what happened next. This was a very engaging and well written book with a great plot line, it grabbed my attention from the first page to the last and was a fast paced and thrilling read that raced to a satisfying final conclusion. I am looking forward to the next book from this author.

This book was a fast paced page turner based on the storyline of an undercover police officer being hunted by a professional hitman whilst awaiting a trial date to give evidence.
There was tension, drama, trauma, twists and turns and I loved it all!
A 5 star book by Caro Savage that I highly recommend to others and I can't wait to see what she releases next!

Wow!! Another fantastic read by Caro Savage, kept me hooked from the first chapter, got my heart racing in a few places, great characters, very well written and great storyline, I couldn’t wait to start this to see what Bailey got up to next. I really am hoping there will be another book soon!

I am not sure what originally appealed to me about this book, but something jumped out at me and am I glad it did. This was a gripping read that kept me interested until the very end. When I started reading this book I had overlooked the fact that this was part of a series - trust me it works well as a stand-alone novel.
A fast-paced read with very interesting characters. A book that I would happily recommend to anyone that enjoys a game of cat and mouse. For anyone that doubts that they will enjoy this book, just read the first page and your attention will be grabbed.

Wow-what a page-turner this book is.
The third in the series, this one started off exciting and carried on throughout the book. hunt her down and kill her so she cannot take the stand at the trial and he will get off.
The hitman although experienced and cunning he doesn't realise how clever Bailey is at avoiding him, being an undercover cop gives her an advantage.
This book was very well written and engaging. It was fast-paced and made me want to keep reading to see what happens next?

I loved the storyline for this one and the game of cat and mouse whereby Bailey Morgan finds herself being hunted by the very man that she is trying to catch.
Tense at times and with a real sense of pace and excitement, I found Hunted to be a fast read with rapidly evolving storyline that had me engaged throughout.
Having read a Caro Savage book before, it was good to get back into reading about Bailey as she is a great female lead.

This is a very good thriller featuring Bailey Morgan, an undercover officer with the Met police. it's fast paced, has interesting characters and kept me interested to the last page. The story flowed well and was told from the perspective of the two main characters. It's the third in the series but works well as a stand alone and I would recommend the read. Thanks to Net Galley for my ARC.

This is the first of Caro Savage’s books that I’ve read and I was very impressed. It is set in the UK and I love UK crime thrillers as I can see the differences in police procedure from the US. This book is fast paced and filled with action. Bailey is a scrappy detective who is determine to remain alive and serve justice.
The story is told from Bailey’s POV and the killer’s POV. I loved seeing both sides of the story. This is the third book starring Bailey Morgan and I am definitely interested in reading more. However, I think each book can be read as a standalone novel as I did not feel I was missing anything by reading this book before the others.

WOW..........What a page turner, thanks to netgalley for letting me review it. Having never read anything before by this author, caro savage has been added to my list. Dc bailye morgan is an undercover policewoman, there is a contract out on her as she is the main witness in an undercover operation previously. She has been moved to a place of safety awaiting the trial which is 12 days away, the hitman has other ideas, Does bailey make it to the trial????? Read it, highley recommended

I give this book 4.5 stars the only reason it’s not 5 is because one bit that happens in the book seemed very familiar and I knew what was going to happen afterwards. That being said I still really liked this book and have throughly enjoyed following Bailey Morgan in this series. I hope there will be more to come from Bailey in the future.

Book 3 to feature Detective Constable Bailey Morgan. This is the 3rd book i've read in this series and I have to say I have really enjoyed it. Just this minute finished it after starting it while sat in the garden yesterday. This book certainly kept my interest.
Detective Constable Bailey Morgan is working as an undercover officer. She's certainly been put through her paces a time or two. Bailey is awaiting a trial that she is to be witness. But while waiting for the trial to start someone is out to kill her. It's a race against time and a real cat and mouse chase. This made the book really difficult to put down, so much going on and while reading you feel you just can't read the story fast enough. wanting and needing to know what is going to happen. I was sad when the book ended as i could have sat and read for hours longer.
A true gripping page turner, i really can't recommend it enough. A fascinating. read.

I found this to be a very entertaining and engaging read! Every mystery thriller reader enjoys a good cat and mouse game! I like that it was told from different points of views not just the main characters but also some of the other characters as well! It's also very well written and the pace is great! I also liked the notes at the end of the chapters! It was an enjoyable read! I look forward to getting to know the characters more in the first two books! Maybe the next book won't be too far behind! Happy reading everyone!

Detective Constable Bailey Morgan went undercover to get the goods on a major drug dealer in London, and now in just a few weeks' time, she'll be a key witness in his trial. This guy doesn't want to spend the next twenty years in prison, though, so he's hired a hitman--a topnotch hitman, who always gets his target.
Bailey's supervising officer for undercover operations wants to put her in a safe house until she testifies at the trial. Bailey, though, decides, and convinces her boss, Stella, that it's a better plan for her to go undercover to hunt the hitman who's hunting her. A chance to catch the guy!
I wasn't convinced it was actually sensible, but that's the kind of not-quite-sensible decision you can easily accept for the sake of the story.
Bailey sets herself up in a dump of a hotel in a skeevy section of town, and starts looking for any information that could give her a lead on the hitman, "Rex." One of those possible leads comes from a previous hit believed to be Rex's work, and a waitress at a club owned by the man believed to have hired that hit.
Meanwhile, we are also getting Rex's viewpoint, and learning that he's coldblooded, thorough, and that his episodic memory only goes back about three years--to about the time that that particular killing occurred. That's when "Rex," the hitman, apparently came into existence.
As we follow the two through their hunts for each other, I really got to like Bailey and some of her colleagues. We do learn that Bailey has some serious trauma in her past, too. The characterization of Bailey, her colleagues, friends, and family seems realistic. If Rex comes off as a bit of a supervillain, it's not beyond what I can accept for helping to make this the exciting story it is.
But.
There are also some stupid mistakes that seem just sloppy.
Emma, one of Bailey's fellow cops but one who has never worked undercover, keeps bugging Bailey to get together with her for lunch (in a restaurant she and Bailey are known to favor), and finally Bailey actually agrees to go to dinner at Emma's home, an address not that hard to track down.
Neither Bailey nor Stella pick up on the fact that the front desk clerk at Bailey's cheap hotel readily tells Stella the room number of the woman with the scar on her face means that Bailey has not even the most basic security in this cheap hotel. Bailey went a little too cheap, this time. The correct thing for her to do is to find a safer place, but neither she nor Stella twigs to that.
Meanwhile, Rex, the ever thorough and careful hitman, makes his own questionable mistakes. His business manager (yes, he has one) keeps needling him about his secret that only she knows; even he doesn't know, because it's from further back than his memory goes. This is really not someone he should be trusting. And when he gets a call alerting him to Bailey's likely location, he rushes off, in a way likely to produce oversights and mistakes.
Despite these complaints, though, the story is fast-paced, mostly well-plotted, and the characters, even when, as in the case of Rex, or the drug dealer who hired him, they're not really likeable, they are really interesting.
Overall, an enjoyable read.

The best one yet!! Caro Savage! You are indeed my favourite author. Love this series with Bailey Morgan as the undercover cop. This one is fast paced and thrilling. Bailey needs to track down an hired killer who wants her dead so she cannot testify at a trial. Please please please Caro write another one! Best escapism of 2022! Highly recommended

Detective Constable Bailey Morgan is being hunted, but can she become the hunter in this psychological thriller?
Bailey is soon to give crucial evidence in the trial of a drug smuggler, but will she survive long enough to give it? The days are counting down, and Bailey has gone into hiding whilst she tries to find out who is trying to kill her. The story is told from the point of view of the two main characters, Bailey and the professional killer out to get her, as they try to outwit each other – with peripheral characters adding to the action.
There are plenty of heart racing moments, and I enjoyed the psychology both of the main characters, and how to avoid a killer (some of which sent me to Google – always a good sign). The opening pages are somewhat brutal, but this does not carry on through the book. The tension grows to a really exciting last few chapters!
This thriller is well written, and flows well. However I didn’t get into the characters and story as much as I did with Caro Savage’s previous thriller Villain, and therefore though I enjoyed the book, I didn’t love it, mainly because I was comparing it with Villain. Hunted by Caro Savage was one of the best reads I have read for a long time! Hunted is the third book in the
Detective Constable Bailey Morgan Series and I was gripped from the very first few pages and I did not want this new book down. I was sitting on the edge of my chair throughout this book. It's full of twists and turns and very fast paced throughout.

Bailey is such a good character an I look forward to each of her new undercover ops. This book is a real stand out of the series as it take the perspective of the aftermath of one of her successful undercover operations but before it can go to trail Bailey is target and hunted down. It sounds like a detective TV show but the turns that are involved as this book kept me on edge and made me want to keep going till it finished 😁
I highly recommend this to anyone who likes cops and crime books. Also if your worried about starting with the third book in series don't worry. Bailey dose make reference to her passed ops but its not necessary to enjoy this story 👌
