«Двенадцать месяцев» — замечательная сказочная пьеса С. Маршака, без которой сегодня даже невозможно себе представить новогодний праздник. Добрая, трудолюбивая девочка смогла набрать посреди зимы целую корзину подснежников, потому что нашла волшебных друзей. Своенравная юная королева получила хороший урок, а злые мачеха с дочкой превратились в кусачих собак... но если исправятся, то снова станут сами собой.

В основу драматической сказки "Двенадцать месяцев" положены мотивы славянской народной поэзии.

About the author

Samuil Yakovlevich Marshak (Russian: Самуил Маршак; 3 November 1887 – 4 June 1964) was a Russian and Soviet writer, translator and children's poet. Among his Russian translations are William Shakespeare's sonnets, poems by William Blake and Robert Burns, and Rudyard Kipling's stories. Maxim Gorky proclaimed Marshak to be "the founder of Russia's (Soviet) children's literature."

Everything in this book is magical, it's one of my absolute favourites! There are so many messages I have learned from this story about life in all its colours, and what it means to be human.
My favourite thing about this book is the real spirit of Christmas and New Year, and also of that precious time when a new spring comes! A promise of a new life. The beauty of the human heart. And such a magnificent magic of nature.
There are a couple of beautiful animations: the Russian one from the year 1956, and the Japanese animated version 𝙈𝙤𝙧𝙞 𝙬𝙖 𝙄𝙠𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙞𝙧𝙪, which was created in 1980. I so love to re-watch the Russian animation every winter-holiday season - despite the fact that some details were omitted, it caught the spirit of this fairy tale immensely well, bringing the magic of the story to life.
In the Japanese version, on the other hand, there were included more scenes from the book, and I really loved the alternative idea of the ending the Japanese creators came up with.

was born 1887 in Voronezh, Russia, got good home education. In1902 his family moved to Saint Petersburg. As a Jew, Marshak could not legally attend to school. His parents arranged a meeting with the influential critic Vladimir Stasov who was so impressed by literary talent of the schoolboy that he arranged an exception from the Pale laws for Samuil. He also introduced Marshak to Maxim Gorky. In 1904 Samuil was diagnosed with tuberculosis. He could not continue to live in the cold climate of Saint Petersburg. Maxim Gorky arranged for him to live with his family somewhere close to the Black Sea (1904-1907). Gorky and some others paid for his education and therapy.
On an evening in January, a spoiled young queen sends her servant into the woods for the impossible task of finding April flowers in the midst of winter. The young peasant girl finds the flowers with the help of the personified twelve months….

کتاب به نام دوازده ماه با ترجمه‌ی هرمز ریاحی و فرشته مولوی منتشر شده.
در مجموع از انسجام خوبی برخوردار بود. و پیام‌هایی که می‌خواست بده با اثرگذاری خوبی منتقل کرد.
اینکه توی ۱۳۰ صفحه این تعداد شخصیت رو به فرجام‌های مناسب خودشون رسوند و به تمام شخصیت‌های افراطی کتاب درس‌های خودشون رو داد
نشان از توانمند بودن قلم نویسنده‌ست.

Под новый год обязательно должно происходить чудо. Вера в это сильна в каждом народе, есть такое поверье и среди славян. Пока в Европе и Америке закреплялась традиция святочного рассказа, его подобие являлось устной традицией для народов восточных, согласно принятых традиций, совершаемых на Васильев вечер. Маршак решил возобновить забытые порядки, невзирая на военные годы, он создал «Славянскую сказку», позже получившую название «Двенадцать месяцев». По её сюжету действие происходило в новогодние дни, читатель наблюдал за чудесными явлениями. Сталось не так важно, откуда именно Маршак взял основу для повествования, другое стало главным — сказка полюбилась во всех пределах Советского Союза.

A version of the Slavic tale "The Month Brother's". My favorite version is the one illustrated by Anna Vojtech. This one has a more complete story for older children.
For early grade school.

В детстве раз 500 пересматривала мультик 1956 года, но не знала, что эта сказка написана Маршаком. Сейчас с удовольствием прочитала эту сказку в нескольких разных изданиях, чтобы пережить заново чудо и окунуться в славянский фольклор. Красивые советские иллюстрации (мне они нравятся намного больше современных). В голове стихи, которые читают разные месяцы, читались теми голосами из мультика, насколько он въелся мне в память))

Finished reading TWELVE MONTHS (1946), a play by Russian children's author and translator, Samuil Marshak. It is based on a Czech folk tale, featuring a brave young woman (the "stepdaughter") and her magical encounter with the Twelve Months. Like any good children's story, it is funny, cruel, imaginative (with talking squirrels), and morally instructive.
