It’s always fun when, as readers, we can get a different perspective on the same story. Like we’re in on a secret of some sort. All those delightful ‘in the know’ feelings can be found in A New Year’s Eve Proposal – if you’ve read the first two Cupid’s Crossing books. Now, just to be clear, you don’t HAVE to read them before you read this one (it works well as a standalone, too) …. but it’s so much more fun if you do.

In A New Year’s Eve Proposal, Andie & Trevor’s meeting takes place during what we now know is the beginning of A Valentine’s Proposal. In fact, they’re the ones doing the renovations on Abigail’s mill that become the focal point of the town matriarch’s mission to change Carter’s Crossing into a destination for romance. I loved getting this ‘behind the scenes’ peek at the renovations as well as both Mariah/Nelson & Rachel/Ryker’s romances that we saw firsthand in the previous two books.

But let’s talk about Andie & Trevor’s romance, because after all that’s why we’re here. Both characters have so many layers to explore, including a pressure to succeed, and both are dealing with anxiety in some form, whether directly or indirectly. For Trevor, it’s his own anxiety that must be addressed; for Andie, it’s a close relative’s. There’s an instant connection between them, but their respective drives to succeed and the aforementioned anxiety issues prove to be roadblocks to a smooth happily ever after. All that suppressed attraction, though, can lead to some super swoony kisses, and I’m still fanning over one particular kissing scene! The timeline of this story takes place over a year’s period of time, so we really get to know these characters and watch their relationship develop, ebb and flow.

Bottom Line: A New Year’s Eve Proposal by Kim Findlay is a sweet romance with dimension and heart. Andie and Trevor are likable characters with whom readers can sympathize, which means you’ll be cheering them on in their individual growth as well as their slow-burn romance. Trust, anxiety, and obligation are all explored as their stories unfold, and the author handles these layers with warmth, dignity, and grace. If you’ve been following the Cupid’s Crossing books, you’ll love ‘the other side of the story’ that this third book provides, but it’s also a very accessible read to those who are new to the series with this installment. It will bring a smile to your heart – and to your face!

This was such an great story! It is book three in the Cupid’s Crossing series but can absolutely be read and enjoyed without having read the first two books. This book spans the time period that the other two books take place in and the author does it in a very natural way that just makes sense.

I liked both of these main characters a lot. Andie feels like she has put her life on hold to take care of her family. She is doing a great job of running the family contracting company and has been for close to fifteen years. I liked watching her growth throughout this novel. She had a lot to evaluate about her life and what she really wanted from it. I also thought she handled the various situations that arose from Trevor’s concerns about the building renovations, even as she tried to keep her heart protected.

Trevor was such an interesting character. I really liked him and felt for him. The more pages I turned in this story, the more I realized how many times he had been betrayed in his life. All of these situations that he had lived through made him reticent to trust in not only the work being done on the mill, but also in life. I loved seeing the impact that Andie made on him, both professionally and emotionally. Beautiful story!

A New Year's Eve Proposal is the third book in the Cupid's Crossing series, and it's my favorite so far! Though you don't need to read the first two books in the series, you'll enjoy it much more. You'll also be familiar with the setting and overlapping characters.

When I started the book, I was thinking that it must be a prequel, but I quickly found out that A New Year's Eve Proposal actually takes place before, during, and after the first two books! That's why I suggest reading the other two first. It was so much fun recalling the events from past books through reading this one. I absolutely love how this weaves the series together.

The characters are very well-written. They're realistic with lots of layers to peel away. Allie is an amazing female protagonist, and you will love her. And I appreciated the fact that Trevor had issues that many of us have. He was hurt before and is very wary of trusting anyone. And as a mom who has lost her husband unexpectedly, I could completely relate to Allie's mom worrying about her children's safety. Yes, they're adult children, but that fear is very very real.

The time span gave a very realistic picture of a relationship building slowly. Sure, I love the falling in love in two weeks books too, but this is much more realistic.

I highly recommend this, as well as the other two, book in the Cupid's Crossing series. If you love sweet, heartwarming, clean romance, this book is for you!

Another in the Cupid's Crossing series in which contractor Andie Kozak has no truck with men who don't think she can do her job. Yes, she's a woman and most contractors are men, but she knows what she's doing and has been doing it for years. But then she meets an architect, Trevor Emerson, who's recent accident following actions that resulted in the loss of his leg and a stain on his reputation has caused him to accept a job away from NYC. He's hoping for a successful completion of a special job that will enable him to prove he knows what he's doing. Trouble is, he has no trust and takes out his concerns/paranoias about a possibly cheating contractor on Andie and her crew.

When confronted, he backs off, but is it really just because he's also attracted to her? No--he can't allow personal feelings to get in the way of protecting his professional rep. Then what he fears most happens: and this time, it's Andi's younger brother who not only cut corners but ends up hurt. Now what? It's up to Trevor to make sure she knows how he feels. But will she listen to him after he accused--even without proof that shows up later--that he wasn't involved?
