None of us mortal gods ever thought we would find our risers, our celestial mates, the goddesses walking in mortal form who will help us achieve our ultimate power, which for me wasn't much of an enticement since I'm the most powerful being in existence, or so I thought. When I find my riser, beaten, broken and hidden deep in the protection of her goddess, I'm almost afraid to follow. Me. Olodumare Babatunde, Supreme God, manifestation of the supreme creator and bestower of knowledge, virtue, and morality, is afraid to follow this woman to where she has hidden herself away. Still, I'm determined to keep her safe from those who would harm her again. Even though my god has checked out on me, leaving me feeling more like a man than I have in a long time, which may be what I need to fight an enemy I never saw coming.
Nikki Clarke is a poet and writer who’s always loved a good love story in books and on film. Her favorite on screen love declarations in no particular order are: Darius and Nina under the viaduct, Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth in the field (Knightley and MacFadden version), and Dwayne and Whitley at the wedding. Nikki doesn’t mind a little weird (or raunch) mixed in with her romance and hopes to contribute to more happily ever afters of all shades and styles.
I was excited for Lure’s book. He was a supreme god and very chill. He was the leader. I wanted to see what him being in the presence of his riser would bring out of him. I was pleasantly surprised by his dominance. I knew he’d be caring and loving tho. Sparkle was inhabited by goddess who was a supreme mother, loved attention and being cared for and pampered. However she was linked to a woman who was scarred by the trauma of false love for gain and then being kidnapped. She was not the most trusting person. She believed that all male gods were out for one thing - renewal and by any means necessary since it is what caused her trauma. Seeing her be with Lure in the past and present was very different and she fought hard against their relationship. I have to say that I enjoyed the book, however the ending left a lot of questions that I’m sure will be answered in Abra’s book. I just wish I had a bit more time added to the ending of the book instead of directly after the show down. Like 2 weeks later and everything has died down. But that’s my preference. Still a really good read though.
Lol sorry I couldn’t help it. I enjoyed every moment of this book. Lure is absolutely decadent. I loved the relationship building in this one. I loved the way lure realizes his power. The way this brings to light the duality of the relationship and power between men and women. There are some really awesome subliminal messages in this book. Then you add in a little dirty talk, a little D/s action, a some cheeky humor and you have all the reasons I love this book. I think Abra is going to be really good and I was more excited to read it than I was this one but. I should have known better. Nikki never disappoints!
I cannot get into it. The romance side of the book is truly irritating, I was ready for action. I liked part 1 to this series, but even then it was like every other page was sex and it was kind of hard to get through it. Now starting this book,it's just a whole bunch of denying, touching, can't breathe when I look at him blah blah blah.. I keep stopping,,starting, and skipping pages to see if it will get to the action but it doesn't so far. I'm gone have to let it go
Lure’s story was a good one! Like REALLY GOOD! I absolutely adore how the woman in these books are known by the (awakened) gods to have all the real power! The women are respected and honored and just plain ol loved! Then let’s talk about how Lure was dealing with his god disappearing on him…I was soooo frustrated every time i felt his god was leaving him hanging. But my goodness, everything has a reason doesn’t it. And Clarke certainly showed us the reason in that ending. I cannot wait to dive into book 3
I was a bit let down by how sentimental this story is. After what he whispered in Sparkle’s ear in the beginning, I was expecting a wilder ride than what we got. But it was a great story. I definitely want a Lure in my life. I dreamed about sexual chocolate that night for sure. However, I do have an issue that he didn’t want her to bathe herself. Come on dude, give home girl some space. On to the next story.
I love the first book and this one is getting better and better but I absolutely cannot wait to read Abra’s story!! There were several mistakes in the book that I noted I don’t know if they were simply typos or if the author mixed up the characters or self but something that I think should have been caught by someone and corrected. I love the story though love the concept and love Nikki Clarke
I didn't think that the book that followed Jinx would be as good . I was wrong. Lure was good too. And the cliff hanger didn't leave me angry, just anticipating the next book. I enjoy this author and have read almost all of her books. I think that Third Street Conjure Boys is a great escape.
This was deep. The fact that Lure is God but had to endure losing himself to find himself was deep. Glad that he met his Goddess in Sparkle. She was able to push away her vain and judgement to see the brighter picture. In the end, love conquered all. Can't wait to read book 3!
Lure was top-tier BDE. I thought I was excited about Abra, but the way Lure gained the trust of Sparkle and assured her that he had no ulterior motives was everything. I like that these two were different, and Sparkle didn't renew him. I loved their connection and how each of them had their values.
Sparkle pissed me off the whole book. Like ok, I get it. Y’all have formed this group off your beliefs that all gods are the same and only after one thing, but even after meaning the truth, the persistent secrets and conniving made my ass itch! Ughhh! Why must they always be this way?!
Now that twist with Lure spirit being is a trinity which made it very interesting when Miles aka one of the three was killing people. Glad Sparkle was able to be one with her goddess and save the day. Can’t wait to see what happens with Abra
This was better than Jinx for sure. Or maybe I just have a thing for Lure. Idk but I'm glad I read this. Lure is everything you hope for in a book bae and Sparkle is me and I am her! A must read.
Book 2 did not disappoint. However, Sparkle was so delusional and sneaky that I couldn’t stand her. Also, she was a liar. I truly did not like her. Well, I can’t wait for book 3.
You books are so passionate and loving, damn-near revere to the woman in them. I love it! It was kind of scary trying to think what was going to happen at the end.
I loved this series,it truly get more interesting with each book. I can't wait to see where book three directions heads in. I am in love with all the characters and the journey to become one with each other.
