Hands down most influential book I've read. We are product of what we hear constantly. It's how neural pathways are formed. The person you hear the most, is you.

Powerful. I think we already know this, but this book has some powerful exercises that will help you program your self conscious. You are what you constantly tell yourself.

This is an important message, but the delivery was redundant and it all leads to the author wanting you to pay for his audio series... I think this could have been taught in half of the pages. The repetitiveness made it hard to get through. Maybe the author was using this technique to ingrain his theory and get you to really learn the practices, but it was frustrating to push through.

My key takeaway from the book is how important of sub-conscious mind which program us to do the good thing or bad thing. Also, life is a series of choices, those choices depend on which program I give (old negative program or a new version of myself to achieve the area which I want to achieve). What I feel now is everything I can achieve what I choose to achieve by doing self-talk. After knowing that method, during some chapters, I did the record of a collection of words as self-talk ( the specific areas I want to improve ) and listen everyday. Cause it doesn’t take too much time, just wearing headphone and let it play. I realise that even some days which I feel not that much active to take the action, but something in my mind tell me good words to take any action for important things( i guess inner voice help me not to become the old Teddy who wants to skip sometimes when there is a tough day with a lot of things to do)

In essence, ”What to Say When You Talk to Yourself” is a catalyst — a spark that can ignite a transformation in how you perceive and engage with your inner world. It may not unearth the deepest roots of psychological issues, but its accessible strategies and uplifting narrative make it a valuable companion for anyone seeking to rewrite their internal script.

If you’ve ever caught yourself trapped in a cycle of negative self-talk, this book offers a tangible pathway to shift those narratives. It’s not just about thinking happy thoughts; it’s about consciously crafting a dialogue that empowers and propels you forward.

This will turn your self talk into the most powerful tool. We all use self talk, but are we using the correct words. This book teaches how to structure our self talk so that it has the best impact on ourselves.

Positive self talk. It makes sense. No one cheers on a team by yelling "You failed before but this will be different..."
The author is trying to shill his audio self talk series, just so you know.

This is one of those books that will make you change your perspective on who you are and how you treat yourself. But I think it might be mainly helpful to those still in their early twenties, when you’re still trying to build yourself up and find out who you are as a person.

The message is powerful but the delivery is awful. It is already a ~160 page book but it could have been 10x shorter. So much unnecessary verbiage that is becomes tiresome to read. Newer self-help books can say the same thing in a much more pleasant manner.

Reality is that we all provide ourselves with negative feedback. Often. This book points out how destructive negative 'self-talk' can be AND THEN provides you with a straight forward method for changing the attitude of your internal dialogue. I'm going to work on a few areas and look forward to the positive improvements.

One of the best books that everyone must read. Specially negative and busy people. People who always complain they don't have time to go to the gym. People who keeps hitting snooze in the morning. People who cannot wake up to work. People who complain about traffic or driving for 2 hours everyday.

The first half of the book is what NOT to say when you talk to yourself, which gets a little bit old. But it redeems itself in the second half with a lot of great advice. Overall, worthwhile.

No this book is not about people who talk to themselves. Its about the impact words have on your success or failure. I definitely recommend reading with a highlighter in hand

I recommend reading Albert Ellis " feeling better getting better staying better" with this, as they complement each other.
