Kings Reapers MC #6

Misleading Lake

Rate this book
Sara
What’s so wrong with being the fun party animal who likes to experiment, meet new people, and take guys home for one night stands? Well, not all the time, obviously.
Meeting him was a game changer for me, in more ways than one. We both liked the same stuff, yah know, in the bedroom. It didn’t hurt he was bloody gorgeous. Not my usual type, but with parents like mine, I have to stick to their rules.
But Lake, he blew the damn rules right out the window and before I knew it, we were hooking up more often than actual couples in a relationship.
I was honest, told him straight I wasn’t looking for anything serious, cos I’m not that type of girl, but the universe had other plans. Now, I’ve got to grow up and take responsibility for the mess I caused. The mess we caused . . .

Lake
I landed on my feet when I met the female version of me. Sara was kinky, wild, and willing to do anything to annoy her stuck-up parents. It was a bonus that neither of us were looking for a relationship—straight up booty calls were our thing.
Then came the bombshell, and I ain’t talking the blonde kind.
She doesn’t expect anything and she’s made it clear I’m not on her future plan, but since when did she get to make up the rules?
It’s not so easy to walk away now I know her secret.
All I gotta do is convince her I’m not going anywhere.
Not now, not ever . . .

Quick Summary
Lots of OTT drama, cheating, TSTL moments and characters that were so wishy washy, I’m honestly surprised I made it to the end.

This is Lake and Sara’s story. Sara and Lake had an on and off again hook up that ends with Sara getting pregnant.

She waffles between an abortion, keeping it, giving it up for adoption and finally, lying about the baby’s paternity, all to make things easier for her but mostly for Lake. She has shitty parents, crappy friends and zero common sense.

Lake is a big fat hypocrite who only cares about himself. He claims to care for Sara but can’t prove it by thought or deed. He’s had a shitty childhood that apparently gives him a pass to be a big fucking jerk.

If you like drama for the sake of drama and zero character development or plot and are easily entertained by Jerry Springer type antics, this book will be a must read. Otherwise, steer clear people!

~ My Thoughts ~
Nothing redeemable about either MCs and I know I won’t be reading anything more by this author. Her idea of romance is from a completely different dimension then me, where everything is backwards and upside down. I never say never, but for this hot mess, I made an exception.

It’s rare for me to hate both MCs, all secondary characters and the complete story line but this book accomplished the impossible. There is nothing about this book or the characters that I can honestly say I liked. Everything about it turned me off. At first I was pissed but after getting a feel for these immature POC, I spent the majority of the book laughing at how ridiculous and over the top everything was. Everything was drama for the sake of drama and the character building was a forgotten side note.

I really wish Sara would have listened to Jacob (see below) and saved me hours of reading time.

“If it was going anywhere, he wouldn’t be with another woman right now.”

I don’t want to turn this into a long ranty review but for my own personal notes, I’ll list the following spoilers to remind me why I’m forever steering clear of this author/series.

So bad.
Words kinda fail me…or not.

He was one of the worst H’s ever. I could never believe his interest in the h. He was too busy happily fucking his sub and lacking awareness of how much it hurt the h. He couldn’t be fucked to care and each time he had a chance to fight for his h or prove his love he bitched out. Then blamed her for his failure to REALLY try to win or woo her. He was. A. COWARD.

I also hated the h. She was so dumb…I quit caring about her early on. She kept cutting him off when he tried to speak at important moments but he was such a pussy he let her and then went and fucked his sub wondering why she didn’t believe he was ready to commit to her. (such a hard mother fucking eyeroll right there, I tell ya)

I WANTED THIS COUPLE TO BE AWESOME.

I just didn’t expect them both to be TOTAL cowards and NOT COMMUNICATE OPENLY. When drama is created because characters won’t talk…it’s lazy AF.

I can spend half a book with OP, no problem, if the H/h are in any way redeeming and these two weren’t. Their vitriol toward each other ruined a real chance between them. They fought with words but wouldn’t fight for each other. They always gave up at the first hurdle. I really wish the h had just ended up with her BFF Jacob and the H just kept fucking subs. He deserved an empty life and the h/OMBFF could have been amazing. (I would read his book)

And do not get me started on the absolutely ridiculous damsel-in-distress plot. Or the whole sex club thing…it wasn’t sexy. Or the horror show that was her parents.

This was literally some of the dumbest bullshit I’ve read lately. It was telenova levels of drama and plotlines, which I adore, but all of a sudden I realized I gave zero fucks for this couple as their HEA began to feel not even remotely possible.

I originally gave this 1 star…I’m bumping it to 2 because it made me so mad I can’t stop thinking about it…lol.

Wow a lot of craziness

I wanted to slap the daylight out of both Sara and Lake. More so Lame sex is all that man thinks of, at least Sara finally says that is has to be Leo. Her parents in my eyes and probably everyone else's are something else I don't think they ever loved her they are just worried about image and money.

So much betrayal from a secretary, employees, and let's not forget of course a club wh0re.

1 ⭐- Ugh! Didn't like it - triggers - pet peeve!
====================================
I was ready to do the same and came close to me signing this kid’s life away before I realised what a selfish bitch I was being. I forgot to take the pill . . . numerous times . . . so now I have to face the consequences.

“Something is going on, and he’ll know when he sees the newspaper,” says Jacob. “You honestly think Lake reads newspapers?” I ask. “Good point.”

(SEZ OW) I’m relaxed but hard as hell. My sub for the evening is satisfied and sleeping beside me, curled in a ball. Her ass is too sore for her to lay on her back. I admire the red marks across her peachy skin. Sara’s face enters my mind, and I glance at my phone. It’s three in the morning and there’s still nothing.

Lying on her back, I can see the outline of a small, neat bump. Fuck, how the hell did I miss that? Shit, we must have only hooked up a month ago and I never even felt a swelling.

(OM) “Don’t wake up the boyfriend, I’m not in the mood for a fight.” I slowly remove my hand, and she glares up at me.

“I was going to get rid of it,” she says, and I scoff at her lies. “I was,” she insists. “Ask Tillie, she was with me. I was about to sign the paperwork and I couldn’t do it.” “You should have taken me, I would have signed it for you!” I hiss, and she recoils slightly. “You know I don’t want kids.”

“I didn’t either,” she snaps. “I’m still not sure I do, but I couldn’t go through with a termination, so here we are. I don’t want anything from you. Not money, not contact. You can go on like this never happened.”

“It’s why I use gags,” I admit. “Avoid the talking.”

(OM) “I might have to go to Six tonight and get this out of my system.” Jacob glares at me. “No,” he says firmly. He hates Six. It’s a place where like-minded people can go and safely take part in kink. It’s where we both began our journey as a Dom/sub.

(OM) “Are you going off to play?” I ask. “I’m here to watch you,” he says, glaring at me with those stern eyes. I raise my eyebrows suggestively, and he scowls. “I mean to keep an eye on you because your head’s not in the right place, which is the exact reason I’m not taking your bait.”

(SEX OW) I turn slowly and stare into Lake’s eyes. Beside him stands a pretty, little, short-haired blonde. She’s dressed in a leather bodice, making me shudder. I hate leather. Her head remains bowed, and he’s holding her hand.

“What are you doing here?” “Same as you, I should imagine,” I retort, resisting the urge to roll my eyes.

“Sara, he’s gonna be having sex with someone else. Are you ready for that?” I shake my head. “No, but maybe it’ll help me move on.”

(SEX OW) Maisy is new to this game and new to the club. She’s a club girl that Raven introduced because she needed a place to stay. We had a night together and she enjoyed some of my fucked-up shit, which is rare to find these days.

“Are you in a relationship with him?” I growl, slamming the door. “A Dom/sub thing or real?” she asks. “Either . . . both,” I snarl. “No. He’s my friend.” That eases my jealousy a little, and I nod. “You fuck him?” “Yes,” she admits, and I’m straight back to raging.

“Like you fuck me?” I snap. “You weren’t that memorable, so I can’t compare,” she says with a smirk.

She’s fucking hot. I withdraw and push back in, feeling the orgasm building. I slow my thrusts as I burst into her mouth, filling it with cum.

“Now, go back to your Master,” I growl in her ear before pushing her towards the door.

She might say she don’t want you involved, but I saw the way she used to watch you when she stayed at the club with Tillie. Brother, don’t you wanna take care of this kid?” I shift uncomfortably. “I never wanted kids,” I admit.

She’s still new to it while I have years of experience, but I could train her to be my perfect sub. Then, when I think of a baby thrown into the mix, my blood runs cold. Two-point-four children was never what I had planned for my life.

“I’m good with her decision,” I admit, and she stares at me open-mouthed. “I’ve never wanted kids.”

(SEX OW) Maisy: Please, Sir, I need you now. You promised me a whole night and you said to be here by 6:30.

He isn’t even mine, so how can it be cheating? My situation with Lake doesn’t compare to my parents.

I pick up his phone just to torture myself some more. Lake: Be there in 20 minutes. Be naked and in position or you’ll pay.

A picture message then comes up, and I want to throw the phone. It’s a selfie of her, the same girl he was with at Six . . . in leather underwear . . . on her knees. She must be his sub, and stupid me for not asking if he was free and single.

“No problem. I’ll come back later,” he says. I shake my head. “No, it’s fine. I was gonna tell you that Jacob is staying with me tonight, so it’s worked out good.” “You’ll need cream on your wounds. I’ll come back later.”

“You checked my phone,” he says suspiciously. “You saw she’d texted me.” I feel my cheeks redden, but I don’t bother to deny it. “You promised her a night, so spend it with her. I’ll be fine,” I say, adding a smile.

“So, you’re together?” he asks. I shake my head sadly. “The worst thing is, it hurts me way more than I want it to. Tonight, he’s with a woman, the same one from Six.” “He’s her Dom?” “I think so, although he told me he wasn’t looking for a sub right now.”

“Maybe he isn’t looking cos he has one already!” I nod. “I never thought of that.”

Jacob smiles sadly before pulling me into his arms. “Oh, Sara,” he whispers. “He took care of you, clearing up another Dom’s mess. If it was going anywhere, he wouldn’t be with another woman tonight.”

Maisy was not impressed when I wouldn’t have sex with her earlier tonight. I left her satisfied, but for some reason, I couldn’t bring myself to fuck her.

“Friends?” repeats Lake, raising a brow. I wince at his pissed expression and try to convey my feelings through my eyes. “Ouch. And after I turned down Maisy so I could come back here and tend to your back.”

“Let’s be honest, it’s not like we were exclusive. You had other partners.” I shake my head. “No, I didn’t. It was just you, Lake. For a long time, it’s been just you.”

My heart rate speeds up at the thought of having Sara here at the club. I glance over at Maisy, who’s watching the kids for the ol’ ladies. Most club girls earn their keep by doing shit like that. She catches me watching and smiles. “What did Pres say?” I ask.

Charlotte marches over to me. “Who the hell is Connor?” she snaps, and I groan.

Pity he doesn’t accept the kid is his.

It’s almost ten in the evening when Lake crashes into the club blind drunk. I’ve never seen him like that, and I can’t take my eyes off him as he stumbles towards the bar with that same girl stuck to his side.

(OW) He takes a bottle of whiskey from behind the bar and grabs the girl’s hand, dragging her over to the nearest free couch. He pulls her down on top of him and they both laugh before eating each other’s face off.

(OW) “I’m stating a fact,” she argues. “He told the other guys they couldn’t fuck Maisy.” “I really don’t think Sara needs to hear this,” mutters Tillie. “Agreed,” snaps Anna, glaring at Leia.

(OW) “But he warned the brothers off her. Usually how it starts,” says Leia.

(OW) “And why would he keep fucking her if he wasn’t planning on claiming her? The brothers never fuck the same club girls over and over.”

(OW) Maisy sits up, straddling Lake and riding him fully clothed. His hands reach for her neck, and I look away. “She’s always in his room,” adds Leia.

“I’m just telling Sara, so she knows what kind of man he is,” she argues. “It ain’t your business,” Chains snaps.

My day went from having a man try to claim me to being homeless and losing said man to a club girl.

“Can you take that to your room,” barks Anna. “We don’t all need a show.” Lake glances up over the back of the couch. “You don’t wanna watch, go upstairs,” he snaps.

(OM) Lake sneers. “Not what Master Dom told me when I spoke to him.”

(OM) “He told me you begged to be beaten like that. That you enjoyed it.” “Fuck you,” I whisper, feeling exposed in front of the girls.

(SEX OW) I wake with a start. My head pounds and I feel sick. I glance next to me, and find Maisy is lying naked, deep in sleep. Fuck, I let her sleep with me.

(SEX OW) There’re four empty condom packets on the bedside table. Thank fuck, I remembered that part. No wonder I ache.

(OW) “Morning,” she whispers. “Why are you in my bed?” I ask. “You know the rules.” “Because you asked me to stay,” she answers innocently.

“Judging by the noises coming from his room all night, and I mean all night, his head ain’t the only thing feeling sore today.” Blu grins, rocking his baby son. “Gia is after your blood this morning, she hardly slept.”

“Hard not to hear the cries of ecstasy,” snaps Tillie coldly.

(OW) “Maisy is my sub. We’re not together,” I say. “Not for real.” “Well, that’s okay then,” she says sarcastically. “Please, don’t flatter yourself and think I give two shits about you and her.”

“Maybe Master Dom was right in some ways. Maybe I needed someone to beat the shit outta me so I’d stop thinking about you. It worked because I don’t. Not like that. Not anymore.”

(OW)Maisy is waiting for me outside the office. She pouts and runs a pointed finger over my kutte. “I miss you,” she whispers.

(OW) “I need to unwind,” I hiss in her ear, and her mouth runs kisses along my jaw bone until her lips find mine. “Are you ready for me?”

It’s like torture, lying here listening to cries of ecstasy coming from the room next door. When I hear Lake’s growl, I throw the sheets back angrily and go down to the kitchen to make myself a warm drink. I can’t take any more of their sex noises.

“Hey, a man’s still gotta . . .” he says, smirking. It’s not a joke to me, not when I’ve grown feelings for this inconsiderate arsehole. “Besides, you’re not usually here. If you were in your own place, you wouldn’t know anything about this.”

“He’ll have parents. Maybe not blood ones, but he’ll be cared for and loved just as much as any other child.” “You don’t know that,” he argues. “I can’t do this right now. Get back to Maisy, enjoy the strawberries.”

(OM) “You think I don’t know a submissive woman when I see one? Get the fuck out. Make the time up after work.”

“But you don’t care that they could discover Dad’s affairs and your sham marriage?” I ask. “That when he fucks his secretary, he’s risking it all. How will you look if that comes out?” I gasp, placing a hand to my chest and faking shock.

(OM) “What’s your safe word?” “Boss,” I say, adding a smirk. He grins back. “I think you should go and lie face down on the bench,” he whispers, a gleam in his eye.

“I’m just glad that you ain’t the mother of my kid. I don’t want my son being raised by a whore.”

Tears threaten to fall again. “You sound just like my mum,” I mutter. “Judging me without ever really getting to know me. I’ll be better off without any of you in my life. Now, please, get out.”

“I told him the baby wasn’t his anyway.” Tillie stares at me wide-eyed for a long minute. “You did what?” “It was for the best. It was tearing him up inside. He was trying to commit to me when deep down, it’s not what he really wanted. My dad offered to pay him off, and I thought it’d be best if he took the money and ran. It’s not often my dad gives money away like that.”

“For what it’s worth, I think you and Maisy go good together,” says Riggs. I nod, even though inside my heart aches. I hate to say it, but I like Sara way more than I wanna admit. “Sara asked me for your bank details. I gave her the club’s cos I knew you’d return the money. Look, brother, this ain’t what you had planned, but don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. This money is what we need.”

(OW) I use my flirty smile, but Kathleen, the nurse on the neonatal ward, just glares at me. “I should have called,” I admit. “I regret it.

(SEX OW) “Morning, tiger,” purrs a female voice. I wince, not daring to put a face to the voice. “You were insatiable last night.” “Maisy?” I ask in a dry, croaky voice. “Who else would it be?” she asks, sounding instantly pissed.

“You’ve seen him?” I ask. “Sometimes it pays to fuck a nurse,” he sneers, and my heart skips a beat.

(OW) “I can get you the licence,” says Maisy. We all turn to her. “‘Scuse me?” asks Riggs. “I know him. He’s sleeping with one of my friends, Aliyah.”

I don’t feel as comfortable around Leo’s nurses as I once did. I’m eyeing each one suspiciously, wondering which one fucked Lake and gave him access to my child.

I carefully open the door just enough for me to look inside. “Oh my god!” I screech before I can stop myself. Alaric stops mid thrust, and Mum looks over in surprise. “You two?” “I-I-I can explain,” stutters Alaric, tucking himself back into his shorts and stumbling off the bed.

(OW) After lunch, I head to the hospital to spend some time with the one person I can trust right now, Leo. I’m surprised when I see the Irish nurse chatting with Lake outside Leo’s room. I didn’t expect him to be here.

(OW) I watch for a few minutes while she twiddles her hair around her finger and smiles wide at something he’s saying. I knew it’d be her, she’s his type. I take a deep breath and walk past them, going straight into Leo’s room.

“She’s the nurse?” I ask. “She was updating me on Leo,” he says innocently. “I mean the nurse you fucked to get access to Leo.” “Right,” he mutters. “Yeah, we have history.”

“I caught Alaric having sex with my mum yesterday,” she blurts out. I almost spit my beer out. “Shit!”

(OW) “Is everyone ready for the club opening?” asks Maisy, and we all stare at her blankly. “Lake just told me it’s opening in a week,” she adds smugly.

(OW) “I can’t wait. I’ve made Lake promise to take me,” Maisy gushes. “You know he’s with Sara now,” states Tillie. Maisy glances at me and shrugs her shoulders. “He ain’t laid claim.” “So,” I snap.

(OW) “He’s taking me out tonight,” Maisy says. “What?” I snap. “He told me he’d be home around six and we’re gonna have a talk. Usually, when he says that, it ends with me choking on his cock.”

(OW) “Because she died?” She sees my reaction and smiles wider. “I know all about her and what she did to Lake. He tells me things too. You’re not the only whore in his bed.”

My hand slaps her so hard, it stings my palm, and she hisses as it makes the briefest contact. “Truth hurts,” she growls.

(OW) “Maisy, you’re a club girl. You’re here for the men when they need you. Let it go,” says Leia.

(OW) “He told all the other brothers to stay away from me,” snaps Maisy. “He said I was his!” “Most of the guys do that shit,” snaps Raven. “You’re nothing special, Maisy.”

“Is that your problem?” asks Sara. “That he told the other brothers to stay away?” Sara turns to me. “So, tell them she’s back on the table.” Everyone’s attention is on me.

(OW) “Told you,” says Maisy, smugly. She’s ruining my plan and it’s pissing me off.

“What the hell’s going on?” “Now, now, sweetness, don’t make a scene,” warns Alaric. He moves the folder up, revealing a gun in his waistband. “I need you to come with me.” “Like hell—” I begin, cut off by Maisy moving her hand to the base of my hair and grabbing a handful.

For me, this was a solid 4 star read, but it didn't come without some anxiety. If you've read some of my other reviews for this series, I have made it quite clear that I wasn't a happy little reader. Starting with Riggs' Saviour, I really felt that the series was imploding upon itself. I was very nervous to read Misleading Lake, as this was a do or die situation. Either I was going to keep reading the series, or that was going to be it. I can happily say that even though things are far from perfect, the original charm is back!

Sara was first introduced in Taming Blade as Tillie's best friend and co-worker. I didn't really care for Tillie, so I kind of looped Sara into that category as well. On the surface, she appears as a the bratty only child of influential parents. However, the more the story progresses, you can start to sympathize with her situation. She's trying to stand on her own two feet, but there's always an outside interference to knock her back down. Even though she's confident in herself, she's also a little lost. Now, she's going to be a single mum.

The reason I fell in love with this series from the beginning was that even though there's plenty of boneheaded actions, the men are not apologetic. They are who they are, and you can either take it or leave it. Lake is no different. He has no problem flexing his muscles to get his way, even when his actions are completely the opposite of what should be done. When it comes to Sara though, she throws him for a loop that he can't escape from. He wants her. He still plays with the club girls. He wants her again. She tells him to go away, and on and on it goes in a circle. It's just done in a way that you can't help but enjoy the drama.

This book is a trip!

I’m not gonna put any spoilers in here but I will tell you that this book isn’t the easiest story to read. It’s worth it in the end but if you aren’t up for a roller coaster of craziness this book isn’t for you! Don’t get me wrong I freaking loved Thai book but even I had to put it down a couple of times to collect my thoughts. This is probably one the most angsty books i have ever read. This whole series is but this one took it to another level. I swear Nicola enjoys torturing us readers. Lake and Sara have to be the most dysfunctional pair to ever grace the papers of a book. The spend more time pushing each other away the being together. But after it’s all said and done their happy ending is one of the best in the series. So if you are up for it jump on this crazy train and hang in for dear life! I’m glad I did!

We met Lake & Sara in the previous book so that set the stage for their story in this book. Another couple I found frustrating due to miscommunication, lies and secrets, however it was nice to see Lake come to his senses towards the end of the book.

I find the king's lacks the MC grittiness we get in other series and focuses more on the relationships which is fine but if we got more mc business then maybe some of the characters would be less annoying.

Overall a good read and I am intrigued & interested in the new member Storm so I'm looking forward to his story.

It’s no secret I am a HUGE Nicola Jane fan. This may be her best series yet.
We met Lake and Sara in the previous book Taming Blade. These characters!! OMG I loved them, I hated them, I yelled at them. I loved it! It was like a soap opera, I couldn’t stop reading because I just KNEW something good was going to happen.

King Reapers

I have loved the king reapers series having read every book so far in order. And I have to say I don’t know what I was expecting, but Lake, Lake, Lake… the mix of emotions shared throughout this book are mind blowing. I really wanted to hate him so much, and shake some sense into Sara. I felt the book lost it’s way towards the end a little but I’m not disappointed, it’s another great addition to the reapers series.

Misleading Lake: Kings Reapers MC book 6 is a bold, thrilling story that is full of chaos, betrayal, lies with plenty of steamy action throughout this story along with plenty of club drama .

Lake is this badass member of the Kings Reapers MC who also happens to be a Dom who is highly involved in the lifestyle. He likes his life the way it is and avoids relationships due to demons from his past. When he meets party girl Sara these two will enter a Dom/Sub interaction with neither one looking for a long term involvement. Sara comes from a wealthy family who show no love as they manipulate her in order to maintain their social standings. Sara is now faced with a life changing event which will effect her relationship with her parents as well as Lake. WIth the support from her two best friends they help her come to terms and inform her they will standby her when she makes her decision but the news hits the tabloids first before she can talk to Lake. Now she has to deal with her parents trying to run her life and make decisions for her, will she succumb to the pressure or stand on her own? When Lake finds out what Sara is hiding at first he is angry but they both agree that having a family was not something they wanted, Sara tells Lake she doesn't need him as she may not even keep the child. Sara is conflicted as she has feelings for Lake but will not admit the truth to him. At first her decision is not sitting well with Lake as he feels that he would not be a good father but he can't stop wanting Sara as he can see they are much alike. Will he fight her on her decision? When his sister talks to him she makes him see that if he walks away he will be making a big mistake as his past does not define him as a good man. She also informs him that he has a son he knew nothing about which took place when he was 14 years old who wants to meet him, once Lake agrees they begin a relationship as he brings his son into the club as a prospect. Jealous that Lake is spending time with a club girl who is also his submissive, Sara decides to go the BDSM club to relieve the tension that is building inside of her, but is about to find herself placed in a dangerous situation when she agrees to play with a stranger who isn't what he seems. Abused and beaten she finds herself being cared for by Lake who is angry that she got herself into this dangerous situation as he gives her the aftercare she needed as he vows to find the man who hurt her, this event will be the start of things changing between them.

As they spend time together emotions are developing between them but they still are too stubborn to admit that they want or need each other. With all of the drama that is headed towards them, Lake finally sees that he wants Sara and the baby but it maybe too late as a plot has been put into motion as these two will be torn apart by lies, greed and betrayals. Now Lake has to prove his innocence when he is arrested for a crime he did not commit putting Sara in harms way. Will Sara see she is being used once she puts all of the pieces together as she is recovering and learns the truth, will she be able to help Lake? When she sees Lake bonding with his child will these two finally commit to each other or will a plan to keep them apart turn deadly? Now danger and violence surrounds Sara and her child as they are taken. Sara learns how this plan for greed came about and how her and Lake were used by people close to both of them. Can she hold on in time for Lake and his brothers to save her and his child? This story had so much drama, suspense and violence that you will be kept on edge until the end as you take this emotional journey with Lake and Sara as their journey together is gutsy, raw and overflowing with emotion. The interaction between the members of the Kings Reapers MC and their women completed this amazing romance story. I highly recommened this book, you will not be disappointed!!

Another simply captivating addition to this wonderful series
This is a wonderful addition to the series and I cannot say how wonderful it was to meet up with the old characters and also to meet new characters and see how they are going to fit with in this very complex family.
Sara has always been used to living the highlife and the center of a party and this was where she had met Lake and they had discovered that they had a lot of the same proclivities both inside the bedroom and outside. He was also a very alpha male that she only had to look at and he was able to rev her engine, as well as the way he cared for her and the others with the Kings Reapers where everyone was family.
Lake had always steered clear of anything serious with a woman he had simply enjoyed a little sexual interaction and usually that was only once and never anything serious so he was surprised when he had these feelings for Sara.
However, she has right from day one made it more that clear that just like him this is not a serious thing but she is also hiding a secret that she does not want him to discover, however when he does his attitude changes but she remains just as stubborn and Lake is starting to pull his hair out in frustration.
I do not want to give the plot away so will say that you will enjoy every single moment of this book and like me will read it in one sitting.
I voluntarily received and review an Advanced Reader Copy
I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the great writing.

Lake is a member of the Kings Reaper MC. He is arrogant, a player, has mood swings, and has no idea how to control his feelings. He is into BDSM and is a Doom. At first, I really disliked Lake. The only person, or person's, he was loyal to was his club. A while back, he had a one night stand with Sara. When Lake confronts her about it, she confirms that it is his. The problem is, neither one of them wanted kids. When Sara tell Lake she can do it on her own, he leaves her standing there.

Sara comes from a well to do family. She always has to make an appearance at events, and she hates it. She is an independent, beautiful, sassy woman. When she finds out she is pregnant, she does not know what to do. Sara goes from adoption to wanting to keep it. Her family cuts her off financially, so she is forced to grow.

Readers: This book really is about choices, consequences, indecision, growth, and finding what makes you happy. There were some spelling and grammar errors, but it did not take away from the story. Jane really defines her characters well. You can tell a lot of thought goes into this process. I recommend this book, and I am a fan!

Sara has everything most people want. Her parents dote on her, and give her whatever she wants, or so that's what other people think. In truth, her parents don't like her Independant streak. They don't like bad press. They don't like when Sara rebels and tries to take back her own life. So when they discover she's pregnant, well... Life doesn't ever go for the better when they get involved.

Lake tells himself that he doesn't want children, but he also doesn't want his child put through the child welfare system. He grew up in those conditions, and it wasn't great. It doesn't help that while he's struggling with his feelings for Sara, that he finds out he might have a son.

Sara and Lake have to figure out if they can put the child's needs above their own fears before it's too late.

This continuation of the Kings Reapers is a Refreshing tale compared to the messes of the other stories (good messes, trust me). The growth of the characters' is remarkable. The story behind and between the two makes their choices understandable. Family doesn't have to be blood relations. Family is the people who k very and care for you despite your faults and choices.

The Kings Reapers are back with Lake and Sara's story. So we know that Lake and Sara met in the previous book. These two were hot and heavy for a short while and then something happened. Now we find out that Sara is pregnant and has not told Lake. She needs to but she is hesitant. She comes from a wealthy family and mom is all about being in the spotlight and having the perfect image. They would not approve of Lake. Sara seems to constantly think of him. When they are together they have a push and pull. It is like he says one thing but does another. He wants her but does something stupid to mess it. Like mess around with another girl while Sara is in the next bedroom. GAH I was not liking that. I mean I get it but it just rubbed me the wrong way. Then to find out that he has a bdsm kink, well I can't say that it put him back in my good graces, I just didn't take him off my book boyfriend list. Can these two get their stuff together in time to figure out before something bad happens? Hmm I can say that it gets a bit chaotic and scary at one point that I was ready to strangle someone. Will Sara get her happily ever after? Check it out to see.

This series just keeps getting better and better. This is the story of Lake and Sara. Lake is a member of theKing’s Reapers MC Club and has a bit of a kink fetish. He definitely likes to dominate in and out of the bedroom. Sara is new to the scene and is attracted to Lake and learns a few new things from him. She feels safe with him. However, Lake is not looking for a sub at the moment so they agree to just a casual thing. Of course, Sara ends up pregnant and is afraid to tell Lake because he does not want kids. He came from a bad place and did not have the best role models growing up. Sara comes from a very wealthy, influential family who only does anything for show and for perception. Lake and Sara are like oil and water most of the time. Seems like something always gets in the way and deters them from what they could have.

Another great story with great characters. There is lots and lots of family drama, kidnapping, betrayal, revenge, passion, jealousy and some twists and turns. I am anxious to see what will happen next in the book with the new recruit, Storm. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Misleading Lake by Nicola Jane is book 6 in the Kings Reapers series. While it isn't my favorite of the series, it is still pretty good. The plot does have action, steamy romance, twists and suspense. Everything you want in a good plot but somehow the story feel a little hollow for me. I was caught off guard by a few of the twists though. I like when the story isn't predictable.

Some things I didn't like: the way Lake cheated on Sara. I know they were supposed to be casual but he rubbed another woman in her face too often. The back and forth between Lake and Sara got on my nerves too. Relationships are hard but these two couldn't manage true conversation until lives were at risk.

This story could be considered a stand alone but it is definitely better read as a series. One bonus - we did get an introduction to the new King, Storm. Lake's sister Charlotte has set her eyes on him. Misleading Lake isn't a book I would rush to read but it is enjoyable and as always I love catching up with the other Kings.

Holy crap on a stick! I have been waiting for Lake’s story and I was not letdown. Nicola has had me hooked on this series since the beginning. It is no secret that there were times during this series that I have wanted to beat some of the guys senseless, due to their idiocy. This time I kinda wanted to smack Lake and Sara upside the head and have them admit what the really feel. It is hard to do when you have not had the best upbringing. Lake has a family now with the Kings that he never had growing up. Add in what he endured when he was younger and that can turn you off a few things. Sara has money but has never really felt loved by her parents. They have treated her as something that needs to be around only when it suits them and puts them in a positive light. Lake and Sara butt heads so much that I wasn’t sure what would happen. Add in the “crazy” people trying to plan her life, trying to come between her and Lake and my head was spinning. It never fails with me. There is always at least on club girl that I just want to smack around. They always seem to deserve it though. I do love when they get what is coming to them. I can’t see what Nicola does next. I looooove this series.

I received an ARC from the author and am voluntarily leaving my review. Welcome back to the Kings Reapers MC brotherhood. This story is all about Lake and Sara. They both are two of a kind in many ways but still have some striking differences. They try to begin a Dom/sub relationship built on one night stands. They actually suit each other well. Lake is committed to no one but himself but that will not last for long. Sara basically feels the same because she does not want to trust feelings. Their story is not only full of the MC, danger and drama but also plenty of secrets, outright lies and betrayal. Throw in the miscommunication and misconceptions, and you have a heck of a ride. These two take a long and dangerous road to have happiness together. Lake is going to have to keep her safe because she has a target on her back. There was a lot in play with their story. I had a range of emotions about the book. While I liked the storyline, at times it was hard to like either character. They won me over in the end. I am looking forward to the next book about Storm and Lottie

Oh man

This was NOT a romance. They knocked boots ,she skipped pill they don't want kids.........she goes back and forth about kid he is pretty much seeing a girl regularly that no other brother get to sleep with her ,drags baby momma back and forth saying ima step up but wait gots to relieve some stress with the girl that's basically his main squeeze...... While baby momma in room to hear all. No romance at all she was so weak it was awful ..doormat.he was someone that I'd put a bullet in the second that did you sleep with him comment came out of his mouth .This tried to portray a dominant male but basically a cheat that wanted the cherry pie and she wasn't much better .so no you don't say I want you then grab a sub and let some stress out .bah!
Most of these books had me shaking my head .it seemed the girls just gave in so easy every time the guy " messed up" and the phrase I hate the most is " that's the life" its a cop out for cheating and woman to take it . Nothing wrong with a faithful guy but these are fiction so give us a romance not slim bags .If we wanted MC slim bags wed go for it in real life 🙄

Not for me

I gave this book 4 stars because I think the issues I have with it are a matter of personal preference and not necessarily the writing.
I have loved Lake's character since Book 2 of the series. In that book he was sweet and helping Eva when she needed it most. I have been looking forward to get to his story ever since. That was not the Lake portrayed in this book. Sadly by the second chapter of this one I wasn't even sure I was going to finish it. BDSM isn't my kink so I lost interest pretty quickly. I didn't see any warning in the book's description before reading it that mentioned anything about BDSM. Had I seen it ahead of time I wouldn't have even started it. I also had major issue with Sara's character. Its one thing to be nervous about an unexpected pregnancy but she was just selfish. I like a strong heroine in a story, not one who is pregnant and goes to a sex club to hook up with a total stranger. Thats just gross. I did finish the book and it did get better near the end, but it still was only meh. Up to this point I have loved this series so hopefully the next book will put things back on track for me.

Mmm...This book had me from the first chapter! I love the characters and their story. It can envoke some strong emotions! Like when you want to smack the back of their heads and say "what is wrong with you? Have you lost your mind?" Ms. Nicola Jane knows how to get your attention and keep it as she gives her characters life and reveals their story. It is like you can see it play out in your mind as you read. Lake and Sara keep alot hidden on the inside of their hearts. They only let the world see what they want them to see.. They keep what they really feel to themselves. Lake has a family now with the Kings that he didn't have growing up. Sara has money but never felt loved by her parents. These two are like dynamite! Their chemistry is hot, intense and electric! What happens when fate intervenes with their fun and escapdes6? Is it more than they can handle? More than they want? Is it meant to be? No spoilers allowed. Check out this book and the series! You will love it! I know zi do! Can't wait to read the next book!

from casual partners to partners for life

I received an ARC from BookSprout and am leaving my review voluntarily. This is part of an ongoing MC series and characters from previous books do appear.

Triggers:
premature birth, violence, kidnapping, murder

Spoilers:
Lake, loving his playboy life. No commitments. He does not handle things well when he finds out about Sara being pregnant.
Sara, loves being free. She and Lake were having a grand time, nothing serious until she finds out she's pregnant.

The bulk of the story is Sara and Lake going back and forth. She goes with another man. Lake is involved with a club whore. (I would not classify this as cheating from either one. They were not a couple. They really weren't friends. Just two people who enjoyed sex and a power exchange type relationship. Zero commitment to each other. The baby eventually brought them together)

There was drama. Violence. HEAfn

This book is full of angst, steam, drama, turmoil, betrayal... all the good things right. So after reading Taming Blade before this we know that Lake and Sara hook up and also leaned that Sara is pregnant with Lake's baby...that's all the spoilers I'm giving in this review. Sara is a rich girl who everybody thinks has it all....Lake is a member of the Kings Reapers MC and is a Dom and has anger issues. What happens when Lake finds out that Sara is pregnant? This story is crazy from beginning to end....sometimes I screamed at the characters there is always so much miscommunication in all the characters of this series. Don't get me wrong I have thoroughly loved each book in this series but at times think the characters especially the men are just boys in mens bodies the way they act. But I do highly recommend this whole series and Misleading Lake is no different.

Sara and Lake were only a short fling. Both into a BDSM type relationship. Nothing was ever supposed the be serious for either of them. They both go their separate way. Only to have the new paper splash Sara’s secret to the whole town. Lake finds out from one of his brother that she’s pregnant! Sara never told him, he’s pissed and wants to find out what’s happening. He seeks into her house to her to find another man in her bed. Now he wonders is it his or this guys! Will Lake be able to see Sara with another. Will Sara every decide what she is going to happen with her and the baby? Adoption? Will Lake be able to let that happen with the way he grew up? He never wanted kids anyways? How will they resolve all their problems when they’ve never really been an actual couple? Read on to find out!

Aww I loved reading Sara and Lakes story. They are polar opposites of each other yet very much the same lol. Lake lives in a grey area but surprisingly sees everything as black or white. Take Sara for example he sees her as a good time ie the white area. He sees a life alone just have a good time ie black area. Mixing Sara into his bachelor life of screwing around is very much making them a grey area in his private life and he don't know how to deal with that and we see him pushing her away. Tho Sara does the same instead of fighting for what she wants she gives up seeing the grey area he doesn't want in his life she sees as he don't want her in is life so makes new plans for the future. It all goes belly up though when fresh meat turns up.
A strong alpha male story and a rich princess that will win your heart with they tales.

Misleading lake- When Sara's little secret makes front page news she knows Lake will find out, their time as Dom and sub had created life one she knows Lake never wanted. When Lake discovered he's about to be a father he first accepts Sara not thinking he wants to be around, but no one responded to him like Sara did. But when her parents start meddling will Sara be able to see the truth from the lies? Can Sara and Lake make a go of things or will everything crumble around them? Is the truth really the truth or is it misleading? Well written a great adition to the Kings Reapers series! An engaging suapenae filled story line, with twists you dont see coming!

I started this book just before sleep time, I was dying to read it so one chapter I told myself. I couldn't stop, I tried but my 'kings' addiction was too strong to resist!!! So yeah 2.30am, I'm tired and ready for more. Sara, remember her? Tillie's mate?, Seems like she has it all with her rich parents, Knightsbridge flat and gold card but underneath all that is girl craving love and affection but looking in the wrong places. Lake was there because he mate/club brother was with Tillie and it was just one of those hook ups but he's done now and she's pregnant. Nicola just keeps writing these books grip me from start to finish, I'm so invested in this MC and everyone in it, brothers, ol' ladies and family that pop up.

It's a ride for sure

I agree with the other reviewers, its frustrating with this couple. They are hard-core with the bad decision making. The story is good with drama and angst. I liked that the two leads were open and both had agreed. They were not a couple, they just enjoyed each other's company. Both knew where they stood, but when Sara found out that she was pregnant, she took to hiding. She knew Lake did not want children and she didn't know how to tell him her truth. What other reviewers missed was that the two lead characters plus others enjoyed the Dom and Sub roles. This was a major theme in this book which is no issue but it's nice to know when selecting a book, in case its not your cup of tea. Read On!

I love this series!! Ms. Jane draws the reader into the story line with characters that seem to come off the pages and seem alive.
I read the entire book in one setting, i stayed up until 4a.m. To finish and was wanting more. This couple seem to push each other to be what they are meant to be, and their personal prefaces helps to define them.
Lake and Sara were meant to be together, but outside forces and their insecurities almost keep them apart. What brings them together is their love of and for their child, who while was born prematurely, shows them that they can be together and have a love that is priceless. Their love for each other can over come anything and anyone that threatens them.
