I found it very useful to read about what drains empaths. Didn't find anything useful on how to recover from trauma. I don't believe that crystals makes any impact on our lives.
I found the references to Psychology and Neuroscience more helpful than the Spirituality parts which came over as vague and unfounded. It’s a reasonable introduction to Empathy but not a substantial one.
This book is a must-have for anyone who wants to understand themselves and their gifts completely. It is beautifully written and covers every facet of the empath experience. It thoroughly answers the questions that all of us have had at one point or another, such as: Am I clairsentient? Do I feel other people's energies because I am an Empath? Am I an Empath or do I have anxiety? This book absolutely illuminated my path. I am eternally grateful to Kristen for sharing her gifts with the world.
My journey in healing myself has been a long time coming, something I wish I had done sooner, but we are all on the paths we are on for a reason. Even if we wish those reasons were not. This book has guided me, along with therapy, in opening myself up to things I would have laughed off just a year ago. Even though I did not enjoy the way this book was written at times, the tools given were incredibly helpful in finding what helps me reconnect with myself and my empathy. I have already recommended it to several people I know deal with a lot of the same things I do. It isn’t perfect, but if you keep an open mind some of the most unexpected things open you up to healing.
As an empath, this book was very helpful. The book itself was beautifully colored and adorned. Reading the book, I saw myself. I saw myself as more than just an empath, but a tired, ragged empath. I had never taken the time to look at myself and heal until reading this book. The author describes ways for us empaths to heal, to take care of our souls and emotions when other people try to take over. I liked the quizzes and checklist that helped clear me to understand just what I needed. I would recommend this book for any empath whether they think they need healing or not.
“The Healed Empath is an incredible resource for all sensitive souls. It gives us an empowering understanding of who we are and why we are the way we are, as well as an in-depth guide on how to work with our gift of empathy. Kristen dives deep into the art of self-care and offers insightful tips and tools for nervous system regulation & boundaries which can assist any empath on their healing journey." -Kat Fowler, Author of The Ultimate Guide to Energy Healing
A great read if you self-identify as an Empath. There were some great topics discussed, but the information was a bit repetitive, her thoughts were all over the place, and she randomly sprinkled religion into it.
I kept nodding my head so vigorously to all of the “do you feel like XYZ?” And felt so heard reading this book! I really enjoyed the the exercises in the last book, but the science introduced in this one really brought great insight. Loved it!
Finished this some time in April! This book gave me a lot of helpful tools to unlearn unhealthy habits I’ve developed in survival mode and honestly just recentered my perspective on what it means to be an empath. Also a thank you to my best friend who gifted me this book 💚
I've always known I had strong feelings, but I never knew what actually made a person an empath. This book has good practical info on this. I also enjoyed the interior design of the book.
A beautiful look though how to utilize your inner light in life and how to make your life brighter. Pun intended. Journal prompts to guide you through the seasons. I felt like this book SPOKE to me. I always felt I was an empath. This book validated and walked me through how to get though it. Highly recommend. Especially loved the reflection to true life to humanize my feelings and relate. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Hands down THE most helpful self help book I have read… and I have read a lot. After lots of reading, listening to podcasts, even taking online courses nothing compares to the life changing content of this book.
I adored this book! It had a really good balance of illustrations and colour as well as super useful information. There was tons of useful information in this book - but not so much that it was hard to follow or overwhelming. I was lucky enough to receive an early review copy in exchange for an honest review - but I have preordered the hard copy for when it's released.
It took me awhile to work through it, but it was fantastic. The author did a text program when the book first released, where she sent questions for thought each week and even responded to my answers. She has a lovely Instagram account I consistent find helpful, which is why I purchased this book. Part I describes what an empath is and the strengths and struggles that accompany this personality type. Part II describes how to avoid overwhelm and develop resilience. I have frequently completely avoided crowded situations in order to avoid overwhelm, but in order to grow we need to be able to face discomfort. She offers tools to be able to build resilience through boundary setting. I’ve done a number of continuing education workshops on Mind-Body Medicine and the interventions she suggests are evidenced-based. Kristen personalizes these tools for Empaths and explains why they are helpful for energy management. I read Part II while at a Deep Rest workshop run by PhD Psychologists—and many of the suggestions are the same. For me that reinforced the concepts. Major food for thought for me in Part II was the difference between distraction and self-care. People will tag many types of things as “self-care” on social media that are actually distraction. Self-care generally requires more intention and fills up energy stores. Another major realization for me was the difference between internal self-awareness and external self-awareness. I thought that because I have high internal self-awareness I am self-aware; not realizing my external self-awareness is poor. Now that I know external self-awareness is a thing, I can work on improving. Next, I would like to recommend publishing a workbook based on the concepts in this book. ☺️ “You are the answer you have been waiting for.”
The Healed Empath is a great book to give a better understanding of empaths and ways that can help you cope and better deal with the difficulties that come with being an empath.
I've never been sure if I'd class myself as an empath but I found the book very interesting and helpful regardless. It's nice to read something that at times is very relatable and the way everything is explained and each of the tips are described makes it an easy read and one that would be helpful for an empath or even for someone who knows an empath to give a better understanding.
The book is split into different sections which make it easy to find what you're looking for in the book if you wanted a quick look and the way it's laid out is lovely with pretty coloured pages separating each chapter and a line picture every now and then which gives it a nice look. I found the section on intuition particularly interesting and I like how it gives you tips to improve intuition which I'll definitely have a go at.
This is a great book that is very useful to understand empaths and helps by suggesting some tips to try to improve your life and have a better understanding of why you feel the way you do.
This book focuses on outlining what an empath is and on learning how to cope as a highly sensitive person in a world dominated by those who do not feel so deeply. It also gives copying strategies and ways in which an empath can learn to thrive and process the emotions of others without experiencing overwhelm and illness.
I loved this book, it was like looking in a mirror the exercises were really helpful but the best thing was it explained so much about my experiences that I had never put together before.
The writing style is informative and kind. I would definitely recommend this book to anybody who considers themselves highly sensitive or who is struggling with emotional stress and or disconnection from their body.
I'm attempting a fiction project and took up this book to learn more about empaths. It's better than other books I've consulted. The author gives a strong sense of who empaths are and the challenges they face. I think I may be a highly sensitive person (not an empath), so I benefited from the advice. My one point of critique is I think the book gets repetitive at times--especially toward the end, when the author is doling out advice on meditation, visualization, and other techniques. Still, a good book overall.
The book has a lot of good information, and I really did like what I learned. I think I learned I am an empath, to a degree, but not completely? It really does a good job at explaining why being an empath can be really challenging. It doesn't really offer insight on *what* to do, just how it can effect your life. Sometimes it was hard to really decipher what was trying to be explained, or said really but I did find most of the information valuable. (Also, I wasn't a fan of the audio recording. And as weird as that sounds, it may of had an impact on how I generally felt about the book).
This is the most privileged piece of garbage I've ever read. As a marginalized person, I found the author, at best, out of touch with the realities of life for people dealing with intersecting systems of oppression, and at worst, invalidating and contributing to the idea that mental health is only for the wealthy. Additionally, as a therapist, I was hoping this would be a book I could recommend to clients, but cannot as she makes pretty big claims with minimal empirical support, mostly relying on her own anecdotal evidence, and oversimplifies complex concepts to the point of being misleading.
While this isn't a 'bad' book by any means, I think it's one of those books that is running parallel to important and fundamental topics, but for me personally as a reader I felt it missed the point and wasn't what I was looking for. Books like these tend to be quite personal so please take my words with a pinch of salt.
I am grateful to have a received an ARC of this book from Fair Winds Press via Edelweiss+ and I am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
This book is visually soothing to read with clear text and uncluttered pages. I found some sections confusing and wasn't entirely sure what the author was trying to say, particularly the chapter on trauma. It's a good introductory guide to being an empath however if you are already well versed, you may not get much out of it, but it could be a light refresher read if that's what your in the mood for.
I was looking forward to this book since I like the author’s Instagram account but I couldn’t get through it. Her thoughts are all over the place. And clearly she has been through a lot of trauma that she keeps bringing up. It felt like part memoir/part self help book. I gained some insights but it was too boring to continue reading. It was kind of the same message repeated over and over.
Amazing looking and feeling book - feels nurturing! Writing not great. A bit airy fairy and not great structure/flow in parts...however there were some particularly good chapters that I got a lot out of - boundaries and resilience in particular, and the book got better towards the end. I am glad I read it and will definitely refer back to the helpful parts.
This was a perfect quick read just to confirm that I am on the right path with my self care and self love work as an Empath. It opened my eyes to a few things and had little helpful exercises at the end of each chapter to practice with. Nothing ground breaking but just a good read to help secure myself in my body and mind.
Organized well & very supportive for empaths. Visually not overwhelming, very clean presentation. The weight of the book feels nice as well. I used some of the tools in this book to help me regulate and process after a long day working at the hospital with a lot of energy vampires. I’m so grateful for this book and will come back to it often.
It was hard to listen to this when it was leaning like it was science based or gleaned from studies. The empath as self-diagnosed ... ie, the highly sensitive person. While there were some interesting points, it just lacks in research if this is meant to be diagnostic in any way shape or form. Anyway, I listened to this at 1.75 speed to plow through it.
Sure, this book is "foo foo." However, as a self-identified empath, a lot of this book resonated with me. This is the perfect book to read on a day when you are by yourself and will not be disturbed. There is good information and exercises in here to get you thinking and reflecting. If anyone has ever called you "too emotional," you might want to read this book.
