For all of you fans of the original Christine Feehan, edge of your seat action, deep emotional storylines and steamy, hot romance... she’s BAAACCKKK!!!! This book truly is reminiscent of all that makes Ms. Feehan amazing. And it couldn’t have happened in a better book than Emmanuelle’s. She has been a fixture as the single sister in the powerful shadow rider family and readers have watched her yearn for but be denied love on the sidelines of each previous book. So, to have her story told in such a rich and riveting way is an absolute joy to read.

Because the story is also about Valentino, the heir to a large crime network, this installment also has a more decided mafia bent and feel. But as the shadow rider’s secrets are threatened and Valentino’s entire syndicate crumbles, the love that grows between the two main characters is strong, with a depth that one rarely sees in this type of book nowadays. Totally Feehan style, absolutely Feehan magic!

Shadow Storm is the most recent installment in the Shadow Riders series. Now I am unsure if the series is done or going to be continuing on (I am crossing fingers that the author will be going more into this world because its one of my favorites that she has created) I think I can safely safe that any reader that has been invested in the series since its conception has been anticipating this story since "Shadow Rider" which is the first time we see this pairing and all that delicious angst and chemistry. (Warning to readers: There is some foray into child and human trafficking, so be warned beforehand upon reading this one)

Shadow Storm is a story that takes us to our beautiful and fierce heroine, Emmanuelle (Emme) who is being pushed by her mother into having an arranged marriage specifically with her best friend. But then when she gets a 911 message from Valentine's bodyguard, best friend and enforcer that he is introuble and needs her, she doesn't think or second guess, she rushes to his aid. Valentine (our hero)and his father and enforcer have been attacked and betrayed by some of their own and the Ferraro family comes to their aid and try to bring order to chaos and get down to the root of the child trafficking that is building within their people. But with this comes a reunion and reconciliation between Valentine and Emme. After a horrible misunderstanding and Valentine's need to protect the one woman he loves more than any other, there is a high tension between them but Valentine is determined to prove to Emme of his love and devotion. But Emme has been emotionally abused most of her life by her mother, and is stubborn and prideful at times. But as Emme and Valentine work out their issues, they see a future that won't be easy but how beautiful their bond truly is.

Shadow Storm is a story that I fell immediately for and I have to say that this one matches high with book one for me. (Shadow Rider is my favorite of the series) I simply fell in love with this one here, and couldn't seem to get enough. I actually tried to read this slowly or slower than normal just so it wouldn't end so quickly. I was so lucky to have been able to buddy read this with Brianna. I had a blast with this book in every way and it was SO worth the long wait for it. I never know what Christine Feehan will bring to a story, but she fully delivered on this book and I am beyond grateful in seeing it. I definitely had a blast in seeing what unravels in this book and getting a deeper look between Valentine and Emme. Their story isn't easy at times, and Feehan definitely covers some difficult issues. but I truly was on board with everything that we see unfold in this story here. The romance between Valentine and Emme is so heartachingly deep and riveting, you don't want to put it down in any way. Christine Feehan really pulled out all of the stops with this one and I was down for it. I am so eager to see if we will stories with Elie and Dario because they were fantastic side characters and there were some teasers that I am hoping Christine Feehan has plans for or I will be so heartbroken and most especially Dario. Seriously my favorite side character in the book and he needs to be felled by cupid's arrow---he deserves it LOL

Overall I found Shadow Storm to be a thrilling installment that gives us all the delicious beautiful romance that was slowly built over the series. Its a story that is guaranteed to thrill, excited and delight in every single way.

Shadow Storm has so much action, suspense, sensuality, surprising revelations, and finally, Val and Emme get their story.

Oh but, Val really had to work to win over Emme’s doubts, especially when realized the full impact of his motives to manipulate and seduce a naive young Emme, using a sinister Saldi myth to bind her to him. He really needed to crawl over broken glass for that.

Still, I admired the ruthless side of Val. Like Stefani Ferraro, he would never give the family business for a woman. Unlike Stefano, Val is programmed to snare a woman so that she can never escape. It was a brilliant move on Val’s part to ensnare an insecure Emme then gain her family as his ally, something no Saldi had ever before accomplished.

It was very interesting to learn why the Saldi’s wanted to bind and entrap the certain women to use to spy through shadows. That creepy vengeful shadow is a scary predator hunting unsuspecting women.

The Saldi’s are truly a horrid crime family; they are nothing like the Ferraro’s who protect, sometimes with deadly force. The Saldi’s are natural predators...human traffickers, drug dealers who would kill their own to gain power.

I will miss the villainous Eloise, I was holping for her and Henry to finally have a sliver of happiness. But the Ferraro family saga is complete. Poor Eloisa, little did she know that by instilling such insecurity in Emme, Eloisa pushed her daughter into a predator’s snare.

I really hope Christine continues the series with Elie and the Archambult family. Elie seems genuinely contrite and remorseful, he deserves a chance at happiness and redemption. I hope he can find a way to win back the trust of Brielle...after she kicks him several times in his thoughtless arse.

Shadow Storm was so fun and engaging. I love the Ferraros but I’m so ready to be introduced to the Archambault family stories.

I love Christine Feehan, and I love this series, but this book was a chore to get through. I understand that human trafficking is an enormous problem, but it's become Feehan's go-to for abominations, and it's getting a bit worn.

I had hoped for more for Emme as far as retribution went as well, and was disappointed.

Any maybe I've just never noticed it before, but much of the important action took place "off-screen" as it were. There were some discussions about something that was going to happen, then in the next chapter, we were well beyond it. It was jarring.

I've been waiting for this couple's story, how Christine would resolve the issues  the hostilities,  between them and explain the reasons for them...since book one...building the tension, the possibilities in each book...She doesn't disappoint! From "I knew it" to "OMG I can't believe it"  this book takes you into the heart of their storm!

The Ferraros and Saldis have a long standing war from generations past. Though they claim to be different there are similarities. Both will not tolerate betrayal against their own. They will do anything to protect those loyal to them. But the battles between them start to wane when Emme and Val fall in love. Even more so when trouble within the Saldi Family starts to threaten the Ferraro family, Riders, and innocents more than a feud.  When these threats are best faced together.

Valentino steps up to head his family. He has to rid it of traitors those who go against his command. It is seen that there is a need for someone like Valentino Saldi to keep control, to keep dangerous crimes from running out of control. He loves Emmanuelle, those after him put her in danger, too. His past actions are revealed along with an interesting bit of lore the Saldis have about shadows. He realizes it is true. Lore that may endanger riders if misused. The lore he does not want Emmanuelle to know about completely because he loves her. He wants her to choose him because he is her choice and not because of any possible threat.

Emme is a strong beautiful woman, a deadly assassin, but also vulnerable and filled with insecurities. Ones she needs to work through to do the things she needs to do...to find love and realize she deserves it. All the emotional and verbal abuse piled on her by her mother, Eloisa. It caused her see her own version of truth about Val. Emmanuelle loved Val, she was about to sacrifice all she held dear to her before she felt his betrayal.

Valentino knew she had to make her own decisions about him.  He could not force it. But He was not going to lose the woman meant for him. The alpha in him made sure she listened and heard the truth. That she understood what she meant to him. He was the one who not only saw how amazing she was but insisted she know it, too.

Emme knew the true Val, loved him for the man he was, his desire to change how bloodthirsty his family was… rebuild with his direction. She accepted him and his cousin. Not as a Saldi from an old feud but the man he was.

I love how their story is written. They have several emotional, passionate, and dreamy sigh moments. Families come together to weed out treachery within each. I’m so glad Emme and Val have their HEA, with all its OMG moments and twists to the Shadow Lore. There’s action and justice served by both family codes. They grow as a team, partners. Willing to accept the judgment of others and know they always have each other and their love, that they are committed to each other.

The storyline made me suspend the Alpha Card of a character for not following his own advice, for not doing everything in his power to be with the one who's shadow matched his. I think it was a brilliant thread because it made Val read stronger, a true determined alpha. To be the man his woman wants and loves.

As usual there are threads stretching for more stories. My love of this series was not diminished but grew. More family to find HEA, one secondary will hopefully have his alpha card reinstated…although I might have seen him as beta all along. I hope he matures into an Alpha.  Vague yes, but its because you need to read!!

CF finally just let a story stand on its own. No fetishes or anything to really get in the way of the story. Emme and Val's story was handled pretty good over all and I was happy how it ended. I like Darias and Elie and look forward to who can tame both of these bad boys. Looks like Elie is going to be groveling for awhile. Now sure who Darias will end up with. I guess I am not quite ready to give the series up just yet.

Whoa, this was darker than I had anticipated. I'll have to polish this ramble once I had a chance to process!
I've been apprehensive about Emme's story as I am not that big a fan of second chance stories. Having seen her struggle with her feelings for Val throughout the first five books in the series and knowing he hurt her I wasn't too keen, especially as she is a Rider and he is not, but I should have trusted Christine Feehan.
We are introduced to an old Saldi myth that may be more than just a myth and has far reaching impact on the Riders. Val also has to defend his territory against his uncle and try to shut down a horrific human trafficking ring he's been chasing for two years.
I don't want to go into too much detail and risk spoiling this incredible read. Let me just say that it starts with kick-ass action and doesn't really stop until the end. Watching Emme face her feelings and be brave enough to actually speak her worst fears to Val is wonderful. We finally discover what really happened and see from Val's point of view. It's interesting to see things from his perspective as I'd always thought of him being the bad guy as he actually is a mob boss, but the Shadow Hunters are assassins. They may work on catching evil that has slipped through the cracks or could not be nailed down, but they are killers. Having a mob boss who rules his territory with an iron fist, protects his people, including women who in his strip clubs, and stop other factions from using his territory for even worse depravities is also part of fighting evil, even if it means they have to work on the same fields as that evil. It's definitely a theme that Christine Feehan has used before.
This is a tense and dark story that had my heart pounding and me worried if they were going to make it. I was a little disappointed with the take down of the Big Bad as it seemed to happen so quickly and mostly off the page, but I guess fighting Val's uncle was the main story.
It's funny to see how similar Val and Stefano are and I loved learning more about Val's bodyguard Dario and Emme's friend Elie. I'm very much looking forward to their stories.

At last, Emme and Val’s story!

It feels like forever that Emme and Val’s story has been percolating in the background of each Shadow title. The relationship that was, but wasn’t. Hidden but real. Until it wasn’t. Trust was everything and when that was broken, where did they go from there? Well, we finally found out. And it was just what I hoped it would be…

The Ferraro and the Saldi families had history. And almost all of it was violent, bloody and rife with betrayal. When Val and Emme met years ago they were drawn to each other despite the problems they knew their relationship bring. Keeping to the shadows, ironically, they didn’t label their passion-filled relationship. They didn’t dare, really, knowing what their families would say. Until they had nothing to hide any more. Emme was heartbroken but resolute… Until things changed yet again.

Wow, was this a roller coaster on a roller coaster ride! There were secrets galore and an unexpected, uneasy alliance of feuding families as they united against a common enemy. Smack in the middle was Emme and Val, trying to sort out their complicated relationship in the midst of a deadly war. And, of course, loving and interfering family.

I loved the coming together of the families with Emme and Val at the center. Stefano, all her brothers, were the protective brood they’d always been, with hearts and arms to support her through it all. And heart enough to embrace Val as their own… And Dario? He brought some laugh out loud humour I wasn’t expecting even as he jabbed my heart more than once… They all did, knowing exactly which way to aim…

I heard rumours this may be the last Shadow story and I’m heartbroken. Maybe the cousins could have a spinoff series? Where Dario might find his love as well? I live in hope… ~Diane, 4.5 stars

I wasn't real hot on any type of relationship between Emme and Val, so wasn't excited to read this one at all. In the past it's seemed like Val took advantage of Emme and then dropped her like a hot potato, she deserved so much more. Even when Val started to tell Emme of what he learned about them I was very skeptical, but by the end of the book Val won me over. I really liked how he stood up to certain people for Emme and how he pointed out certain fact, then took care of business so one annoying thing would be gone from Emme's life. Val also won me over in his quest to get rid of traffickers. He went after them with a vengeance and did what he could to help the victimized. I have to say, that overall I'm pleasantly surprised by this book, always a good thing.

This is a laughably bad book- i got it at 1 in the morning cause it’s available and my books hadn’t come in from the hold list. Here is the plot- they meet when she’s 16 and he’s closer to 30- of course it’s insta love. Their shadows! They are entannnnngled. They “do the right thing” which is sexual contact except penetration, he “teachers her” how to please him. So functionally we start with a wee bit of statutory rape and move into… the present day… she’s a bad ass assassin but also! She’s a delicate flower who needs to be protected by her 5-8 brothers and cousins. She’s so strong! The strongest— even after the alpha hero tells her he flat out used her to get to her family and trapped her via “shadows” she doesn’t even try to get an apology. She just… cries a bit and whines a bit and then they have the worlds greatest sex. She definitely can tell even though she’s never had sex with any other man but him. It turns out her mama hates her- cause she’s perfect. She’s curvy but so fit. She’s tiny but not tiny. She’s a delicate flower with delicate sensibilities over those she wuvs but super tough. The bad guys are so hard to catch that they some how do it real quick over breadsticks. Her brothers are good criminals! They run a mafia territory as yet undefined- but they make their BILLIONS the honorable way- killing strangers for money. They live in Chicago- but somehow there isn’t a single person of color. nary a black person lives in this Chicago. I think they live in Ariana Grandeville- a world of spicy whites. This review is giving the book more credit than it deserves. You can get better self insert mob fan fiction on Ao3 and better characterization from a tweens interpretation of a CW show. If you want a laugh borrow it from the library otherwise avoid this author.

The story of Emme FerraThe story of Emmanuelle Ferraro, the youngest of the Shadow Rider siblings. Shadow Storm has probably the highest anticipated book of the series. It is the Romeo and Juliet story of Emme and Val Saldi, heir of a true Chicago mob family, and long time enemy of the Ferraro family. They fell in love, broke up, and hints of their story has been seeded through the other books.
The romance lived up to the wait, and a plot was actually in existence. Hot sex throughout the story instead of Feehan's usual story scattered through the hot sex. Her stories are good, so I always prefer to see them take precedence.
Okay, but I do have to say this, it reads like something out of a QAnon rant, or vice versa-it will soon be in a QAnon rant. Yes, I'm talking about a pedophile ring. So just prepare yourself for a dark story. Just not something QAnon would be accurate about.
Now the guessing begins. Who will be next, Elie or Dario? I'm going with Elie and the woman he rejected and regretted ever since. Or will it smug Dario coming up fast in the outside lane with a total surprise woman who will take his ass down.

My Review of Shadow Storm:

Emotional Rollercoaster, Intense Romance, Sexy, Action Pack, Reveals, Plot Twist

It's been two years since Emmanuelle Ferraro has had any physical contact with the man she loves, Valentino Saldi. An attempt on Val's life has left him badly wounded, and Dario, Val's bodyguard contacts Emmanuelle for help. She arrives and finds out this is an attempted takeover by Miceli Saldi. Emmanuelle calls in Stefano, and her brothers for assistance to save Valentino, and Guiseppi Saldi, the head of the Chicago mob family. Miceli wants them dead, so he can run his sex trafficking ring freely. The Ferraro family along with those loyal to Valentino won't allow this to happen. We get to see the Shadow Riders in action as they assist Valentino in taking down several of Miceli's strip clubs, dungeons, and rescue the women, and children being held captive.

While fighting for their lives, Valentino reveals to Emmanuelle, why the Saldis want Ferraro women, and to protect her family, She tells Stefano. The Saldi shadow works differently than the Ferraro shadow, and could prove dangerous to women found to have shadow rider abilities, as well as future generation, because some Saldis can see the shadow ribbons.

I loved the support Emmanuelle, and Valentino received from her brothers, and sisters-in-law, while they navigated their complicated romance. I enjoyed seeing the real Valentino step forward. He reminds me so much of Stefano. Strong, quiet, but deadly when it comes to protecting those he loves. Needless to say Eloisa attitude and verbal aggression toward Emmanuelle continues, but she doesn't take it anymore, and stands up for herself. Eloisa's shocked, and is against Emmanuelle and Valentino's relationship. There's a sad, and surprised twist at the end, that some fans will appreciate as "Justice Is Served".

Shadow Storm is the highly anticipated story in the Shadow Rider series and it was definitely worth the wait. Emmanuelle Ferraro is the single sister in the Ferraro shadow riders family and was betrayed by her lover Valentino Saldi. Her story has been in the over-arching tale in this series and you’ve felt her heartbreak. It took for Valentino to be shot and left for dead to get Emmanuelle reunited with him, and he’s going to take advantage to make sure she stays. Corruption and betrayal has infiltrated the Valdi crime family and it is going to take the Ferraros and the few remaining loyal members to root out the traitors so Valentino can take over his family’s business.

I expected high tension and nothing less than a smoldering, powerful connection between Emmanuelle and Valentino, and I got it in spades. He’s just like all the Ferraro men and did what he had to do to get his woman connected to him. An added twist to the story was his own family’s myth was interesting to say the least. The author didn’t spare any expense and took her time to slowly unwind their feelings for one another, as well as bring in each of the other couples form the previous stories, to mingle them together in the fight for Valdi’s family. I took my time reading in order to savor every word and I’m glad it didn’t take shortcuts to hurry to its conclusion. The whole story was an absolute delight and I was totally happy with the way this series of the 6 Ferraros concludes. I hope that this isn’t the end of the Shadow Riders series and that she includes the cousins (Elie) for future stories.

Emme has always loved Val but their families don't get along and her brothers have never really listened to her when she tried to tell them her feelings for Val. But Emme goes to him when she finds out he's been shot and when she calls her brother's for help, they don't hesitate to help Val and his family.

Val loves Emme but he said some things about her that really hurt her and even though he tried to make it right they are no longer together. So he's shocked to see her and her family after he wakes up after surgery for the bullet wounds he sustained.

After Val's uncle tries to kill him and his adopted father and he's gotten through surgery, his uncle comes back with his men to finish the job but by that time Emme's family is there to make sure they don't succeed. There's a huge fight but the Ferraro family is really good at killing the bad guys. Val is more than mad when he finds out that his uncle has been selling kids and women to the highest bidder and has horrible dungeons in some of his clubs where really bad things are going on. After finding out all this information and more he enlists Emme's family to help him rescue the kidnapped kids and women, shut down the clubs and make the responsible people pay for it all. There's a lot of bloodshed and a lot of action in this book but it was great to see the Ferraro and Saldi family's working together to get it done.

There was one heck of a twist at the end but I really liked seeing Val and Emme finally come together. Sure they had a lot of things to work through and the whole shadow binding thing was just weird but I was glad to see Emme happy at last. All of the brothers and their wives are in this book and I really liked seeing all of them again. This series is best read in order because there are so many characters to get to know.

I was given an e-ARC of this book via NetGalley but all thought and opinions are my own.

Meet my current book hangover y’all!

Emme and Val’s story has been one I’ve been dying to read since the characters first appeared in the series. With each glimpse in to a very problematic relationship, I knew their story would be a pressure valve of secrets. And oh my word…sooo many secrets came to light not just for Emme and Val, but also the Ferraro family. Shadow Storm was a jam packed read from start to finish. I admit the rawness of children and human trafficking rings were some tough spots to read, but this is a Feehan book so I was expecting some heavy to balance the gray. The romance was actually quite tame in comparison to some of her recent books and I actually preferred it. The scenes came across way more intimate and meaningful, giving a different twist on Val’s bond with Emme.

I've been waiting for this book since Stephano's book! But sadly, I was kinda let down by it.

I wish Emme had more of a backbone/spine and didn't make it so easy for Val. I wanted her to make him court her and win her over. Instead, she caved and gave in to the Shadow Sexual Attraction just like that. *rolls eyes*

I actually liked Val a whole lot more. I respected his alpha ways, that he wanted to tie her down and made no apologies about his ruthlessness.

BUT

I liked what action scenes there were and how unapologetically brutal they were too. Some might not agree.

Shadow Storm is the book most fans of the Shadow series have been waiting for. Emme and Val's story has been mentioned in every previous book. It has had this Romeo/Juliet vibe for sure. Add in that they used to date and something went wrong and you have the slow build of a dynamite second chance story.

Shadow Storm really brings the action, and I loved that. And, as expected, there are secrets. So many secrets! Emme has been the character I have wanted to know more about-her mother is just awful and she seemingly takes such crap from her. I have been rooting for her and Val, but knew her brothers would be a hurdle. They are super protective and know that Val hurt Emme. They also don't like that he is a Saldi.

Val has problems; really, his family has problems. The Saldi's are a mafia family and that brings plenty of danger. Val has a darker story for many reasons, but being the heir of a mafia crime family delivers darkness to his door. Regardless, I knew he was the one for Emme. He wouldn't back down when going head to head with her brothers, he would do anything to keep her safe, and while he wasn't a rider, he understood her uniqueness.

The Shadow Riders series has been a favorite of mine and Shadow Storm really delivered everything I was hoping for and so much more! Fans of Feehan will devour this book!

  POV: 3rd
  Tears: no
  Trope: mafia, romeo/juliet, second chance
Series/Standalone: series (it really is best to have read the previous books)
  Cliffhanger:
  HEA:

The Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh, The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by JR Ward, ...then you will probably like Shadow Storm!

Emme's book is finally here. The much hinted star-crossed lovers theme between Emme and Val in the past few books in this series breaks my heart. Emme is the only daughter and the youngest in the Chicago Ferraro family. She knows she needs to stay away from the Saldi family which has a brutal and terrible history with the Ferraro family. It does help that Val broke her heart two years ago which prompts her to excised him out of her life. When Val's trusted second, Dario, sends a 911 text to Emme, she cannot help but rush to the side of her forbidden lover she's ignored for a couple of years.

DNF. Got to the last quarter of the book and gave up. I wonder if this book was edited? It was quite different from the others I've read.

The scenes kind of skipped around in a confusing way - like they were on the way to Vegas to get married, and then they were all of a sudden not in Vegas and back home? Very strange.

Honestly, 80% of the "storyline" was just space filler with the narrative telling the reader just how impressive everyone was, how incredibly skillful/sexy/smart/great cooks etc the characters were, and how wonderful their houses and estates were. Normally, the best way to display those traits in a story is to demonstrate it through characters' actions and scene descriptions, not with the inner ramblings of an egotistical narrator.

Review written for me…IF I read another book of this series. I like the characters, I love the premise but I HATE the repetition in the writing! I HATE the exact same problems coming up over and over and over and over again. I HATE the character thinking of an issue and then telling his guards one at a time the issue. I found myself skimming entire chapters. Now when the action actually did occur I enjoyed the book. I think that’s what’s brought me back to this series time and time again.
Also, not too crazy about the “trapping” of the live interest. 🤮

Starting this review off with a possible trigger warning. This book deals with human trafficking and abuse. If either of these are something you may not be able to handle well, you will probably not want to read this book.
A long simmering feud comes to a head in this newest addition to the Shadow Series. Emmanuelle Ferraro has watched each of her brothers find their happy ever after while her heart has been shattered. Emme is contemplating an arranged marriage when she receives word that Valentino Saldi has been shot. When she is told what Val has been up to and that lead to his shooting her first instinct is to call big brother Stefano for help. Stefano comes and is filled in on what Val was trying to do and makes the decision to become allies.
Emme and Val’s road is somewhat rockier than her brothers were. They have to work through not only what she perceived as Val’s betrayal but also the abuse that Emme received over the years from her mother. Add that to trying to stop a human trafficking in their own backyard and we’ve got one humdinger of a story.
Shadow Storm gives you a little bit of everything and ties them up in a nice package. Don’t expect an easy read that you can put down and leave for a while because it isn’t that type of story. We are dealing with human trafficking (mostly children) and an abusive parent. You will have your emotions rocked big time and those feelings will stick with you. Emme and Val’s story was everything I hoped it would be and then some.

Ohhh Emme! There was a lot of build up for this pair in previous instalments, that left me excited to see what exactly their story was!

I’m wondering now if Taviano is my Ferraro crush or maybe it’s always been Emme. What a badass!

DNF - I used to love Feehan books, but as of recent I just can't get into them. Before it was about the romance, lately it just seems more violent. I don't mind Feehan bringing light to situations that are unsavory, she has always had a huge tie brining up child trafficking. But recently, it feels that is all her books really talk about. Sometimes its a bit too much in detail, and it just makes me not want to continue reading the book. This is another one of those situations where it was too much that I had to put the book down. I reached 75% of the book and stopped.

I have been reading the Shadow series on and off and looked forward to this latest story. However, once again the story seems to fall flat the minute we get to the story of the couple. I realize now that the allure in Feehan books is that she is amazing at putting on the mystery. I love side characters but the minute we start their story its over. The characters are all the same, there is no difference.

Male character is always bossy, demanding, and a douche.
Female characters as of late just push overs wanting to be dominated.

I still hold on to hope for actual bad a** female characters.

******Update*******SPOILERS******

I finished the dang thing - ugh no, please. As much as I muscled through this novel, I feel like Feehan fell short. The ending was rushed as she spent so much time hyping up the confrontation that the story just fell flat. I wanted to like this book so bad but once again the story doesn't live up to that initial interest in the characters.

For series: 2 stars
This book: 1 star.

I was really looking forward to this story but Emme and Val were pathetic.
The relationship portion of this story was so meh.
Plot wasn't horrible but a tad tedious on how it went on and on. The plot could have been wrapped up at the 75% mark and they add another 'bad guy'. agh.

the series is repetitive to begin with, and this book was ridiculously so.
Is this author paid by the word? But I'm going to blame the editing. Plotting in the relationship revelation took too long and was dragged out for no reason. That mean the main crime storyline was dragging for too long. They couldn't advance the couple relationship without dragging out the crime story. so I'm guessing that's why extra criminal masterminds where added one after another.

Our family villain gets a bad end and doesn't get the redemption story that the previous book hinted at. That's actually winning this series extra points there.

All in all, it had a decent start and premise and but got butchered to death book after bad book. I'm just so stubbornly hoping that this last one would have redeemed things but nope.

100% washing my hands of this author after giving her writing in IMO a decent reading effort.

Also, this book definitely tried (just like the last book) to setup for more books. Other family members. I can already see who the next books are going to be about.

(4.5) What a heart wrenching ride. This book had more of the dark Torpedo series vibe and a mafia edge but always, always family. When I was reading the plot, the story, the life's of everyone involved I was sucked between the pages. I have come to love Dario. When it was pages and pages of the E & V showing how talented they are between the sheets, over and over, I was pulled out of the story. For me I was grateful most of the story was truly a well layered plot weaving in and out of the light and the dark. Suspense, action, family betraying family and was there not a whopper of that towards the end??? OH I so wanted to reach through the pages and just beat the crap out of that person This was truly well done and some of the horrors that are brought to light make it even more realistic. I a ever grateful for the arc, thank you Berkley, Christine Feehan and Net Galley. I freely volunteer my own thoughts and opinions.

Shadow Storm takes a dark turn in the Shadow Riders world as two enemy families join forces to fight an even deadlier threat to Chicago. Where deadly secrets threaten to become exposed, love and loyalties are tested and a chemistry so volatile, it has the power to destroy as much as it does to heal. Where friend and foe are interchangeable. Where the lines between good and evil, love and hate and sinner and saint are often blurred and obliterated. And when you cross a Ferraro, all bets are off…

Trigger Warning: Human trafficking, graphic violence
