Four weeks ago, a dead man washed ashore. Four days ago, his body disappeared from the morgue. Four hours ago, I was accused of his murder. Unfortunately for me, my last nerve drowned in the sea of my new friend named night sweats.
Just when I thought it was safe to step onto my porch, the power of the Oracle has sent another person in need to my stairs. He thinks he’s searching for his missing husband, but the moment I smell him, I know he’s dragging along a curse from a necromancer with a stench strong enough to curl the leg hairs I haven’t had time to shave.
Which reminds me—I should probably do some lady grooming before my date.
And did I mention I have an arraignment in court? For murder? It’s all I can do to put this legal nonsense to bed before the rotten bouquet of necromancy wafts into my world yet again.
If one more person says that age is just a number, they’re going to wish they’d disappeared with my last nerve.

Great character development and very imaginative! I’m an throughly enjoying this series and I’ve already gotten the next book, #4! That’s why this review is so short;-). I hope you like it as much as I do. Please note, this series should be read in the order written.
This book leaves you with such sadness, but hope as well. Very well written and i love the fact that she is a middle aged woman with some extra going on. Its refreshing to be able to relate more to a character.
I would swear I was on the first page and the next thing I know I've finished the book! So much more happening as Wynter's circle expands creating a network of magical and non magical helpers alike. Look forward to the next book!
This next installment of Wynter’s education of being an Oracle. This one was a very fast and engaging read, I could hardly put it down. I love how she is learning to use her abilities that she had before and the fact that she is growing.
Logan and Wynter’s interaction are the kind that makes you root for them. I really like Logan and find him to be one of the good ones. I keep my fingers crossed that something will happen between them.
Loved the entire story and how things are developing but the ending was not at all what I expected.
I’ve loved Wynter from book 1 and now she’s growing into not just her role as the Oracle, but herself as a woman. The story flows well and Wynter’s relationship connections (friendships and otherwise) deepen and progress nicely - until one of them doesn’t! Ahh, I was so disappointed for her with that one. You know it’s a great story when you feel like the characters are your friends and you get caught up in their emotions and experiences. This series does that. I’d highly recommend it to PWR lovers. Looking forward to what’s in store in the next book 😊
The Oracle in jail, a necromancer cursed consultant, a possible first date with a shifter, and a new friend. This was a great story and wow, what a way to end the book. I did not see that coming. I am not a fan of cliff hangers but I am anxiously waiting for the next book.
This whole series is just fantastic! The best pwf and paranormal cozies I’ve read in a long time! I can hardly wait for the next book! I just love these books! Thank you for a fantastic read! Please write a whole bunch more!
Good series of a 45 year old woman becoming an Oracle and solving problems. The plot and subplots move quickly, making it hard to put the book down. I can’t wait to see how her magic progresses.
This is book three of The Oracle of Wynter series and catches up with Wynter Chastain some four weeks after she finds the body of a man on the beach and now finds herself accused of his murder and of taking his body, by her favourite police detective, Scott Trenton and his partner Andy Dentwhistle. She is finally getting used to her new life as the Oracle of Theama and her latest consultant, as they are called, is Nathanial Fitzby, who needs her help in finding his husband George. He has been missing for days and it is all somehow connected to Nathanial’s recently deceased dad Cornelius and was supposed to have completed some sort of task for a mysterious and unknown group or person. All he had left was a note and that is all he has to go on. He has brought his father’s boxes of stuff, which are full of herbs and notebooks, all showing his dad was involved in magic. Something he was completely unaware of! When Wynter and Logan smell Nathanial, they believe he is mixed up with necromancers due to the aroma all around him. This is in fact mostly from his father’s boxes and whoever is after Nathanial to finish what his father never did. As well as her new client and a murder charge hanging over her head, she also has her first proper date with Logan all arranged and has to get some feminine touching up done beforehand, if she can find the time! When the police turned up to arrest her for the jumped up charges, a man she was accused of making disappear, Ashton Flint, also turned up, wanting her oracle bracelet. Something she is definitely not willing to give up now, even with all the evil people after her. She is left wondering if she did indeed kill the dead man, when she used her Oracle powers to make him go away! To top off her murder charges and the stress of the detective who has it in for her, she is suffering from horrendous night sweats, some lovely side effect of going through the menopause! She is only on her third client, sorry consultant, and is having legal issues. But more troubling than that is her love life and how her children, mainly her daughter, has reacted to it. It may have only been eight months since her husband died and she found he had another whole family, but surely she is allowed to be happy again? If her daughter Rachel reacted this badly to just a kiss, well a very hot one, then what will she do if she gets more serious with Logan? Luckily she has a great best friend in Shelly, who will do everything she can to support her and knows her secrets, past and present. She has her own hidden secret love life, with a man who is going to help out with Wynter’s legal issues and even help figure out who dobbed Wynter is to begin with. There is something very wrong with Detective Andy Trenton and it leaves Wynter wondering if something magical is behind his outlandish accusations and behaviour. Loads going on in this book, with a new client, kid issues, accusations of murder and taking a body, plus a man she could be having a good time with, if she could ever find some free time, that is! Another fun read with a mature main character and showing her dealing with her age and its horrible side effects. Unwanted as they are! I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
I've enjoyed the story arc of this series, and this 3rd installment does not disappoint with with moving Wynter's growth into her powers and character, as well as those of her friends and background characters.
The mysteries are interesting and different. Wynter is a great character who continues to be an independent, self-rescuing princess who is also strong enough to call on friends for help when she needs it. Her love interest is helpful but never overpowering, and any there are no overly-graphic sex scenes - you can safely share this with your Mom!
However, unlike the first 2 books, the editing for this Kindle edition is very poor. Numerous dropped words had me going back to reread the sentence to figure out what was meant to be said. And there were a couple of times where entire passages of exposition (I assume meant for a reader who had not started with the first book) were repeated in a following chapter - like we'd just had a 4-minute commercial break!
So this would have been a solid 4 stars for the story itself, but I had to knock a star for the editing taking me out of the flow repeatedly. Won't stop me from reading the next in the series though!
I soooooo enjoyed this bittersweet tale. It seemed way more grounded in a realistic portrayal of “midlife” than several other books in this lovely genre I’ve recently discovered. I have felt just about the gamut of emotions Winter is/has gone thru and it sucks as much as it is liberating. To face an arrest, to feel like your world is something completely different, to have your kids question your judgement despite having raised them to be the headstrong individuals they are, to finally feel passion again after so long and have it yanked away from you without a real chance. Again, this book really resonated on an emotional level. But the actual story could’ve used a bit of work. I felt like everything mostly took place away from Winter and didn’t directly involve her. But it was nice to have it acknowledged that she’s great at delegating tasks and bringing in help when she knows it’s outside her wheelhouse.
In the third installment, Wynter Chastain continues on with her Oracle duties and receives her third consultant. She also makes a connection with Tethys, mother sea. She figures out she's always had the magic in her, but she was always too busy taking care of others to notice. So now, Wynter gets to a point in her life where she's empty nesting, only to take care of the whole world. Or the ones that can find her, that is. Her vocabulary is also becoming more colorful, which is funny. She's breaking out of "I must be a nice, polite lady." When dealing with Necromancers, there is no etiquette other than to say "GET OUT AND AWAY!"
The relationship with Logan is taken a little further, but Logan is concerned about his past and the fact he has no soul. I'm interested to learn what happens with this. The fourth book is on my Kindle.
Wynter Chastain is just a year or two older then me but in a very different place in her life. She is retired, widowed with college aged kids and lot of hot flashes and night sweats. Her life is also much more exciting then mine. I liked to read about her character growth and the tertiary characters in her life. The actual mystery and the plot was very much secondary in this book including Wynter herself spending very little time on it and much of it unexplained or resolving itself rather too easily. I liked the supporting group of characters that are coming toghether, I felt her annoyance at her daughter and oh my goodness the end, the end made me want to roll my eyes at Logan and get annoyed for Wynter. I look forward to reading the next one just to see if Logan is back or not.
"Necromancy & Night Sweats" is another fine entry in this series! Wynter makes the best lead: strong, capable of compromise but no pushover, confident but not arrogant, and utterly appealing. She's making great additions to her core group, and there are so many imaginative characters (c'mon, a talking tattoo and a beer-guzzling, tragically fashion- challenged ghost) to round out the storyline. And is the universe trying to tell Wynter and Logan something?! The consultants always have engrossing dilemmas, and the world-building is fabulous; even with all of the magic the action feels very real and plausible. I totally recommend this series to anyone who appreciates a well-crafted story, and I'm eager to get to Book 4!
Wynter needs help from many friends now, with many parts of this storyline. She is growing more solid in her Oracle status but so much is assailing her right now. The characters are getting more complex and intense with emotions and feelings. The magick and paranormal aspects are getting more involved and entertaining. Families are a strong point and she is trying desperately to hold it all together. Loved the story, the banter, the surprises and more as Wynter gains insight into new facets of situations. Very entertaining and can not wait for the next book.

Wynter is plagued by a flock of necromancers with power hungry, destructive designs
She is reminded of her skills at gathering needed people or resources, and also forced to face those who are determined to treat her as an unskilled child
can Wynter and her consultants survive and overcome bad intentions and bad actors?
an ongoing struggle against evil and power hungry entities, with a hit romance or two, sisterhood of various kinds, and complex family dynamics and relationships

Wynter is finally getting the hang of being an oracle. There is a man searching for his husband and sees wynter for help. She knows he was cursed by a necromancer but not why. This book is funny and cleverly written. I had a great time reading this fast paced story. I definitely want more of this series. It is brilliant.

Everyone wants my Life and tattoo. they don’t know they are what makes me the Oracle.
I am new at being an Oracle, and it isn’t coming with training wheels. I have to learn the hard way, by trial and error. Each of those I consult with brings new learning. And new dangers. Each brings new ways of trying to kill people and I have to find ways to stop them. Find the right people to plan the a way to put things right. To save those asking for help. To make sure they are worthy
I’m totally loving this series. Wynter is brilliant she’s such a mom. She takes everything in her stride despite what it is. Things hurt but she carries on. Each consultant brings her adventure drama and more information about who she is. Are her and Logan going to work out? Will she find peace and fall into her role as the Oracle?
It seems poor Wynter will never get much of a break, between legal issues, her kids, a new consultant, and getting some time with Logan. Oh, and the ever-present necromancers! She handles it all well, even if she does have to hot flashes that make her gulp water like someone who has crawled through the desert. I know the feeling!
OMG!! Lisa Manifold writes a story that keeps you interested. Wynter is trying to help a man who just found out about magic. His husband is kidnapped to make him do magic. The necromancer makes a move on Wynter and she makes a choice. I love this series and can't wait to read the rest of the series.
Wynter's life is just crazy, being faced with being accused of a murder and having an arraignment in court and then dealing with others cursed by necromancers, and so much more. Plenty of twists to keep you reading. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wynter is back in book three of The Oracle of Wynter series and in this book she is dealing with a murder accusation, a kidnapping, night sweats and so much more. I am loving this series and all the quirky characters we meet along the way. This is a great addition to the series and I can't wait to read the next book in this fabulous series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
Necromancy & Night Sweats is the third book in The Oracle of Wynter series and is a great addition to this series. Wynter, a middle-aged Oracle, has to deal with necromancers, night sweats, murder, kidnapping, and relationships. I am really enjoying this series. I read and reviewed this book with no obligation.
Just wow I mean she is going through so much. I’m glad she has some people to help her. I feel intrigued about the story and what happened was awesome. I felt a little mixed at the end because of what happened between Logan and her. Well we will hopefully see what happens next.
Well written and entertaining. Winding stories within stories can often be confusing but this author does a good job. My only criticism is the lack of proofreading and using "calvary" instead of "cavalry". Errors that interrupt the story's flow.
Wynter is on her third case as Oracle and this one involves necromancer and curses. Wynter is going to have to explain her new role to her family and boy is that fun. I love this series.
Wynter's tale just keeps getting more layered. I love that she's gathering a Scooby gang around her. The ending to this one is a bit of a hard drive into a brick wall, but the ups and downs are very satisfying.
Wynter went from being a grieving widow to being a very busy Oracle. This is at the same. Time. As night sweats and hot flashes. Somehow she manages very well indeed and gets done what she must. Just like a woman does!
I have read several of these books about the Oracle. I must say I love the stories about middle aged paranormal heroines. As you follow the series you become enmeshed in the story and feel like it’s part of your life too.
