Can two enemies work together to save the one person they both love?
After all this time, Dustin’s transformation is nearly complete, and his happy ending is so close he can almost see it. His wedding is fast approaching, and he’s about to start school. He has his future, his lover, and his friends, and he at last believes that he can truly have it all.
Meanwhile, their old nemesis lurks in the shadows, ready to destroy any happiness Casersis might have. They knew Bradley is dangerous, but no one is prepared when he makes his move and kidnaps Dustin.
In order to rescue Dustin, Casersis must work with his old adversary, Erastus. They both love the almost-elf in very different ways, and if they can’t set aside thousands of years of hate, it’s Dustin who will pay the ultimate price.
If there’s one thing Devon likes most, it’s chaos. They have a chaotic mind and a messy house, and they throw their characters into every calamitous situation possible. When they aren’t writing, they’re editing or formatting other authors’ works, building websites, creating graphics, reading, playing video games, or watching Fortnite streams on Twitch. They like to stay busy. So yes. Chaos.
Can't say enough incredible things about this finale and the series as a whole. Breathtaking world building, complex beautifully flawed characters that have become family! What a beautiful journey this has been!
This is the conclusion of Fated Elves. Dustin and Casersis have come so far already, Dustin’s transformation is almost complete, he will attend Kireldan University and their wedding is in sight. They are happy, playful, there is trust, love, and a lot of sexiness. So far so good.
While we are following Casersis and Dustin, among other businesses, preparing their wedding, there is a nasty threat approaching.
Casersis and Erastus are still enemies, already for more than four thousand years, Erastus wants some time alone with Dustin, they are bonded, the need is there to spend time. Casersis knows he has to compromise or else he’ll push Dustin away. He’s jealous of Dustin and Erastus their bond.
Throughout this series we get to know the main characters better, we can see them grow, change and they show us all their characteristics. While I loved the characters I wanted a stronger Casersis, he felt a bit weak. Being the richest man on earth should do something for your confidence, not? There’s an alpha omega dynamic and I must confess I didn’t felt it. But it didn’t make the story lesser. The author did a great job. The finale was well done, it was thrilling and entertaining. A widely written story, for me even a bit too wide and lengthy, but still exciting and enjoyable. I think it’s all about compromises, love, and having your own family, at last.
This was a great conclusion to a really good series. Dustin has just about completed his transition & is still having some issues with that. He has started school and that appears to help some, but everything else seems a little lackluster to him. On top of that, there is the wedding to plan for & get settled. Things are still not going well with Erastus and Cass, but when Dustin is kidnapped, they work together to get him back & things start to change. There was real character growth between all of the MC's and in the end we have a beautiful wedding and a unbreakable bond between our MC's as well as with Erastus. I am saddened to leave this world & hope that just maybe the author will come back to it as there are possibilities. This is not a stand-a-lone & they need to be read in order.
I received a copy of this book from the author and this is my honest opinion
So, this is it. The climax and ending of the saga. And what an ending this is! I loved every minute of it. Even more so than the first three of the series. You get everything: love, a lot of making out and some suspense to boot, before everyone heads to the wedding. Dustin starts school and is really excited about it. Casersis gets a lot of opportunities for shopping for his alpha, before everything goes pear-shaped with Bradley and Erastus, and he learns that old feuds should be buried after thousands of years. I laughed and cried and chewed on my fingernails. I am a bit sorry to leave this world. It's a book to be read again. (I received an ARC copy from the author but the opinion voiced here is totally mine!)
This was probably my favorite out of the four books in this series. Please keep in mind, this is not a stand-alone, you have to read them in order.
It had action, steam, love, friendship, forgiveness, and CHARACTER GROWTH!!!! I liked how all of the storylines came together and Dustin, Cass, and Erastus all got their happy endings. No lie, I want to adopt Erastus. He's my favorite (Dustin comes in second).
I hope we get to see other stories in this world, it is fascinating! Well done!!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
As a book reviewer, there’s nothing worse than being behind in your reviews, unless you suddenly realize that you’re farther behind in your reviews than you thought you were. Yikes! Sadly, that’s exactly where I found myself this morning, so now, I’m scrambling to catch up.
That being said, I’m not sure how The Elven King’s Forever slipped through the proverbial cracks. It definitely wasn’t because I didn’t enjoy the final book in the series. However, this book more than any of the others, made me wish that I had started from the beginning of the Fated Elves series instead of starting with The Elven King’s Love. I still plan on rectifying that oversight by picking up The Elven King’s Captive… eventually. It’s not that I was totally lost, it’s just that the more I read in the series, the more I realized that I was definitely missing something. The author did a good job of filling in the blanks, it was more that I missed the emotion, connections and even drama that brought all the characters to where they were by the end of the series.
Speaking of which, a lot happened in The Elven King’s Forever. Some of it was mentioned in the description, so knowing the “who” behind the danger wasn’t necessarily giving anything away. Especially given the events that took place in The Elven King’s Promise. It was more the “why” behind those actions.
Dustin had a lot of patience with Cas when it came to his feelings about Erastus. It seemed that Cas experienced even more back sliding in The Elven King’s Forever. Enough that even I started to lose patience with him at times. The center of this story was love and forgiveness. Lessons that evidently are even harder to learn when you have several lifetimes to try to get over the pain of loss. The Elven King’s Forever eventually got there though and it was a satisfying end to the series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of The Elven King's Forever. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
First, the very beginning. Dustin was supposed to meet with his therapist but instead goes on a date with Cas. The therapist is never mentioned or contacted. It is as if he never had a conversation with him. Second, after Dustin goes shopping he then goes to find Cas. Cas is supposedly working and Dustin then pulls him away to have sex. But when it switches perspective Cas is still with the wedding planner. Dustin then gets home before Cas, so he never went to find him. Then they have a long conversation and no sex. Third, the whole kidnapping scene seemed thrown together. Dustin didn't even comment on his missing detail. Then after lunch he all of a sudden seemed worried and happened upon a random person to help. This whole scene between Dustin and Stacy seemed put there so she would have a reason to be at the house and help tract him down. Fourth, the wedding is supposed to be on August first but the time line for the book would put it in June or July. The Author states that the wedding is six months after the incident which would have taken place on January 28th since it was three days after the school year stared on the 25th. So six months later is only the end of June beginning of July. Also, Stacy seemed to go from stranger to beloved family member way to fast. Who moves a virtual stranger into their home after one day? It would have been better if they had gotten to know her over the months leading up to the wedding.
I've had a somewhat rocky ride with this series, and some of that lingered here, but this final installment ultimately made the four-book journey with these characters worth it by resolving overarching storylines and for their long-awaited HEA.
It took me a while to get into "The Elven King's Forever" because I was more interested in the final stages of Dustin's human-to-elf transformation and the ongoing tensions between him, Casersis and Erastus than all of the wedding and school prep early on. But once the kidnapping plot came into play, the story really took off.
Dustin's friend Stacy was a bright addition here, and the reconciliation between Cass and Erastus was interesting and well-handled. Their banding together to rescue Dustin was probably my favorite aspect of the story, and their unique three-way bond made for a satisfying HEA.
I do wish some time had been dedicated to exploring - even just in conversation - Cass's home world Adradis and any potential reconnecting with his eleven son, which have been mentioned throughout the series and felt like unaddressed loose ends here. I received an advance reading e-copy of this book and have left this honest review voluntarily. (Also read in KU.)
We've finally made it to the HEA for Cass and Dustin. It wasn't an easy road by any means, but these two men, oh excuse me, these two elves put in the effort to make it work. There was a lot of character maturity and growth seen along these four books. Dustin and Cass had to learn the ultimate couple necessity of being able to compromise. Cass, having been alone for millennium, was a harder nut to crack on that front.
I liked how the book portrayed therapy. It was seen as a good thing and even celebrated. Taking steps in the right direction for one's mental health is important and not often something seen in romance, never mind paranormal romance. Kudos to the author.
What I also think improved with each book is the authors writing. I am not an editor and certainly not qualified to professionally critique literature, but to me the first two books had repetitiveness issues going on and the plot didn't move as fast as I would have liked. I'm glad I stuck through because books 3 and 4 were the best of the series. None of my issues from the first two books were present and the plot moved along at steady pace. I'm so happy that Dustin and Cass have finally found themselves solid with their HEA. My one niggle is I wish we would have gotten to see a reunion between Cass and his son. That would have really tied up this story arc is a nice pretty bow.
The Elven King's Forever wraps up the sweet whirlwind romance of exiled Elven king Cassersis and his energic former construction worker, Dustin. Everything was humming along perfectly-wedding planning, first semester of college, and Dustin's transformation-until Dustin finds himself kidnapped by a former employee. Cassersis and Erastus quickly learn to put differences aside to save the man they are each bonded to in a unique way. While there was a lot going on in this book and I felt some of the action seemed a bit rushed, the main characters are lovable and the world-building is so unique and thorough. This book wraps up Dustin and Cass' story arc, but I'm hoping for more stories in this fascinating world.
Disclaimer: I received an advanced copy for free and am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.
This was a great ending to the Elven King series. It wonderfully ties up all the loose ends and left me with a warm, happy feeling. Everything is going well for Dustin and Cassersis and there is a happy ending in sight. Then there is danger, a kidnapping, and two age-old enemies must work together to effect a rescue. Hmm, that sounds challenging. Will Cassersis and Erastus be able to put their differences aside for Dustin's sake, or will his happily ever after be over? I have really enjoyed this series, and this ending was the perfect capstone. I am sorry to say good-bye to these characters, but I look forward to seeing what Ms. Vesper brings us next.
I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
I have to say that I was surprised that Casersis didn’t invite his son, from the Summerlands, at any point in this series, to visit him. That seemed to be entirely in keeping with his character, and to not have even had a hint of it seemed odd. I also find it odd that Casersis never once asked Kaudien about why he help Erastus so long ago, and where he got the items that he gave Erastus. Again, this doesn’t seem to be quite in character for him.
Dustin was great through this, and I did feel that he was fully within his character throughout. I loved that he had no patience for Bradley and wasn’t willing to even pretend. Though I have to wonder how he managed to manipulate so many people into making such stupid decisions.
Loved it!! This was a fantastic ending to the series although I’m sad that it’s over. I’ve loved this whole series since the beginning. Casersis and Dustin have grown so much! I loved how Casersis and Erastus work together to save Dustin, sooo freakin good. In the end there is a beautiful wedding and unbreakable bond between the MC’s. The story was really well written, highly recommend!!! I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received. My review is solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
What an epic conclusion to this series. Dustin and Cas are engaged and getting married in 8 months. Also Dustin is starting school which he thoroughly enjoys. There is lots of love and action as Dustin gets kidnapped by one of Erastus ex-employees and he and Cas must work together to save him, along with a new friend of Dustin’s. It was great to see how they put aside their differences and learned that the hate was unnecessary. I hope there will be more stories in this series as there a few people who I would love to get their happy ever after.
The second half of this book was definitely the highlight of the series for me. Even though I don't feel Bradley was a great, fleshed out villain, Dustin's kidnapping and the subsequent rescue mission were a pleasure to read. I really wish we had met Stacy earlier and gotten more of her character. As it stands, she seems more like a character of necessity to give Casersis and Erastus some tech-savviness rather than a fully completed character. I did really enjoy her interactions with everyone, though. Overall, I feel this was a satisfactory ending for Casersis and Dustin's romance.
Loved it! I loved the whole series from the first book to the last watching Casersis and Dustin grow into the couple they have become and even with the drama in their lives they still love and charish each other enough to marry and add to their found family. Fast reading well written with enough going on in the main characters lives to make a page turning enjoyable book series from the first page to the very last one.
LOVE this series! Dustin, Casersis and Erastus (Oh My!) Their journey has been remarkable and I've been wondering how the author would fit Erastus into this "happily ever after).. Devon Vesper wove Erastus in masterfully and beautifully. This was an excellent "ending" and I loved reading every book in this series! Steamy, action-packed, wonderful characters and super engaging story! i read an advanced copy of this book and this is my unbiased review!
I wish I could say that I thoroughly enjoyed ’The Elven King’s Forever.’ Sadly, I cannot. The story is disjointed and quite often rambles; in fact, the plot is completely lost more than once.
I generally finish a book this size within 3-4 hours, however this one took 3-4 days. I just couldn’t stay interested, but refused to allow it to become a DNF.
A kidnapping forces two adversaries to work together in this concluding volume of the story of Dustin, Casersis and Erastus versus Bradley. Cas and Erastus are a wonderful take on the cop movies that were popular for a while - two total opposites forced to cooperate who discover along the way that they aren't such enemies after all. Dustin has his HEA delayed here just when he could taste it but after much blood, sweat and tears this story gives everyone who deserves it their HEA.
Finally the last chapter in the the Fated Elves series. Overall the story was okay. It would have probably been better if it was condensed to 3 books. Author tried wrapping loose ends abruptly and trying to make a quick happily ever after. Some issues are never resolved, like will Casersis ever return to the elven realm and be reunited and forgiven by his son. Could have been better.
A lovely HEA for Dustin and Cass. Each have had significant growth over the series. It was very sweet, even with a kidnapping, because there wasn't a huge sense of danger for me. I enjoyed the found family, with new members joining the gang. Maybe a tad cutesy for my personal taste. Hopefully the characters will be seen again as there are a few things left unresolved
For me, it started off slow but I was won over by the characters rather quickly. I grew attached to them and I thought the ending was perfect. I am so happy that I had the opportunity to read an ARC of this book thanks to the author. I just finished the book, and was touched by it so much that I wanted to share my enjoyment with other readers by writing this review.
So this was an epic read of 4 full length novels about the same 2 MC, and I highly suggest you plan to read all 4 books, in order, to get the full story. I would like to read more about the elven home world and why Casersis was dethroned, hopefully there will be another series where they get to go there that also explains what happened. Plus, some of the secondary characters could do with their HEA. I really enjoyed Dustin, not your typical Alpha and I hope we get to catch up to him as he continues to grow into his new elven/alpha life.
The Elven King’s Forever concludes the story of Dustin and Casersis. It contains elves and magic and is a gay romance that is well worth the read. I loved the characters and their story was emotional. There are also twists and turns and keep the story flowing and interesting.
I have loved this series since the beginning, and this was a wonderful conclusion. Some scary moments, but I had faith that there would be a happy ending. If you haven’t read this series, what are you waiting for?!?
Brilliantly wrapped up. I absolutely loved this series. I love the transformation and the pieces we got along the way. I love when I get lost in the world especially if it’s completely different then I expected.
I loved reading and following this story as it progressed . Fated Mates, plot twists, HEA! Lots of sappy romance and Sex. Devon and Cas were a great set of characters to follow through the books. I can’t wait to see where Devon takes us next .
This is the perfect finale for this story. Two enemies working together to save Dustin, old adversaries, many known faces, new wonderful friends and the most amazing epilogue ever. No spoilers but I enjoyed a lot the banter and dialogues between Casersis and Erastus and how they put aside their hate in the name of love. A lovely reading!
A series that you should read from its beginning and appreciate is finale. Cass and Dustin finally received their HEA. With each installment, I was able to witness the development of each character - working through the differences and grow together.
Worth the angst of waiting for each book to see what happened next.
