She's caught in a wicked scandal of illegal activity. He's her only hope of survival.
Jessica Ong saves lives in her ICU but never imagined she'd be caught in a scenario where she would have to save her own. When she's accosted by men searching her apartment for a mysterious USB drive, she embarks on a face-paced hunt for what information is worth killing for. What's worse? She's forced to work with her ex-boyfriend and security expert, Reece Owen.
Reece guards lives and uncovers secrets for a living, and yet finds himself unprepared when having to protect the feisty ex-girlfriend he distanced himself from months ago. While he tries to help Jess untangle from her dangerous predicament, he must reconcile with emotions he's avoided.
As enemies close in, can they uncover the truth to set them free?
I enjoy writing and reading action/adventure, thrillers, romantic suspense, and fantasy.
I grew up reading Tom Clancy, Michael Crichton, and the Bourne books. I write seeking to create that level of action and intrigue but with female heroines. The love the quote, ‘She needed a hero. So she became one.’ My novels have empowered women overcoming powerful obstacles and the strong men who support them.
Another great read by CG Samet who once again brings strong characters and an intriguing story line. She brings Jessica and Reese in this one with an on again off again relationship but he's there for her when she's in danger. I loved their characters and watching them come together. The author pulled me in with all the twists and turns and had me glued to the pages right to the end. Loved it!!
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. All opinions in this review are my own and freely given.
Another fantastic book from this author. I love the smart and strong heroines and the guys-ah. Exactly the kind of guy who complements the woman who has it all. Smart, willing to give everything, and the plot kept me engrossed all the way through. The best in this series yet!
A strong heroine - check. A lovable hero - check. A plot that makes sense - check. Loose ends tied up - check. Want to read more from the same author - check. Now that we've got the important bits out of the way, let's talk details. This is a fast-paced story, and me being incredibly partial to the pace of the story, I loved it. This is clearly not the first book in the series. Although that doesn't detract from enjoying the story, I have a tiny bone to pick in that regard. But, we'll come to that later. The story follows a spunky doctor, Jess Ong, who loves fashion and her hard-as-nails, on-again-off-again, former Army Ranger boyfriend, Reece Owen. Dr. Ong, in the course of her work, gets embroiled in a conspiracy involving a new drug on the streets of Atlanta. When her friend and co-researcher Lori dies in a car crash, their study jumps from being academic to something out to kills her. In trots Reece, in all his mustached glory and tall, muscular, emotional insecurity, to save the day. The story follows the adventures of the doctor and the warrior as they wade through the web of illegal activities to finally get the baddies off their backs and into the long arm of the law.
Now, to the small bone that I had set aside to pick. Throughout the story, as and when new (new for a reader jumping in straight to this book) characters are introduced, a little bit in the way of background is recounted. While I can see the reason for this, it takes the reader out of the current story. The earlier books are all also suspense, which means that in book 5, we are given the breadcrumbs to four other suspense stories. For some readers, this may lead them to go and read the other four, but for me, it ended up being annoying.
That said, I will happily pick up the next book C.B. Samet brings out :-) And finally, thank you Voracious Readers Only and the author for sending me this book to read and review.
A 2nd, 3rd, 4th chance romance wrapped in an action thriller
Jessica and Reese have gotten together and broken up so many times their friends can’t keep up. But when her life is threatened Reese is there, and Jessica proves she can hold her own too. Getting to know these characters was half of the fun of reading this book. I love their quirks, Jessica is a glitz and glamor fashionista and Reese is a protective alpha with lovely elocution that kept me grinning. The interspersed glimpses of their past makes the story so much fuller. And while this tale moves at break neck speed keeping you on the edge of your seat, the mixture of romance and suspense is perfect.
Great action, intrigue, and romance written by a real doctor! Sign me up every time! You should enjoy this second chance romance full of action and danger.
Great read, I couldn't put it down. This novel had everything that made it easy to read, enjoyable and impossible to put down. It is a romance, a thriller, a detective story. It introduces the world of a dodgy pharmaceutical company, and the doctors who unsuspectingly uncover medical evidence for devastating drug side effects, putting their lives in mortal danger. In the mix is Jessica and Reece's long-standing on-and-off relationship, which is spiced up by Jessica, an ICU doctor trying to figure out why someone wants her dead, and Reece the security expert, doing his best to stay one step ahead of the villains to protect her, along with his security firm. The storyline is intelligent and informative, the writing style easy-flowing with good use of the language and vocabulary, the characters well developed and described and the attraction between Jess and Reece is steamy with Reece's commitment issues thrown in. It has been a while since I gave 5* to a book but I have no hesitation of doing so for this book and recommending it to anyone who likes a romantic thriller with a HEA.

Jessica works hard in an ICU to save lives but is out of her element when she discovers a fellow doctor has died and men are trying to kill her. Her on again, off again boyfriend, Reece is trying to protect her. Can they work out who wants her dead and why before they are at each other’s throats or worse? I really enjoyed the fast pace of this book because the plot totally sucked me in. I was able to read enough facts to get the idea and then move on with the good bits. This is the first book that I have read by Samet, however I didn’t feel like I had missed anything relevant to this story. Saying that though, after getting a glimpse of the other characters in the team, I want to go back and read the other books in this series. The two main characters were very likeable, I liked the way that they interacted and that there wasn’t a ‘weak’ one and a ‘strong’ one. They were both strong characters with flaws that they tried to overcome. Overall an engaging read. I received a free copy of this book from the author through Voracious Readers in exchange for a review.
Although I have not read the whole series, only the previous book in it, it was not difficult to understand the context of the Rider group and their values. In this mission, they have to uncover what and who is behind the assassinations of a Medical Doctor and a Researcher in a Lab, and that are also threatening the life of Jessica Ong, a physician and Reece´s (one of the Rider team) ex-girlfriend. The plot is carefully built, with lots of action, mystery, twists, and turns where it seems the good guys are always losing it. Reece is akin to a superhero and Jess is his damsel in distress (although she does not like that idea). They fight, plot, and finally discover the culprit which gives the group some respite. If you want to know how they do it and how the relationship between Jess and Reece ends, download this book, it´s guaranteed fun and entertainment!

Our heroine is in the business of healing people, our hero protecting people from harm. When danger makes their paths cross, they are going to have to fight not only the bad guys, but their past.
This is book six of the series, but it is written as a standalone. It is not necessary to have read the previous books to enjoy this one.
This is a romantic suspense story, one of my favorite genres. The combination of action, intrigue and romance makes for a great combination. This one is well written, easy to read and has an excellent cast of characters. I love how our couple finds a way to work together in spite of their past. The story moves at a good pace and has plenty of twists and turns which keep things interesting. Overall, it was a great story and I look forward to going back for some of the earlier books.
Highly recommended

A Sensational Suspense Romance . I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Sullivan Files . Dr Jessica Ong and Reece Owen have an on again off again relationship . Reece works for Rider Security when he gets an alert on his phone that someone is breaking into Jess's apartment . He rushes there hoping he gets there before Jess . Jess arrives home her apartment is trashed and the man behind it is still there . Reece comes to her rescue . They soon find Jess is in serious danger and Reece and the Rider team will do everything and anything to protect Jess and stop the threat . This story is action packed, full of suspense and intrigue and definitely romance . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
C B Samet is a master storyline and this like all the books in the rider series is a masterpiece of twists and turns that continually has you revaluating what you think you know You can never take the storyline for granted because before you know it there will be aa 180 degree turn and you have to start to work it all out again
Jessica and Reese have history in fact they have been and on and off again couple so many times that no one knows whether they are off or on but when danger threatens Reese has no hesitation in stepping into protect Jessica maybe finally they will decide to stay on. Get ready for a wild ride as each book in this series just gets better
Finally get to see Dr Jessica Ong and Reece Owen and their interactions front and center. They seem to have had an on and off again relationship for awhile and while in their broken up stage things go sideways and Jess is in trouble but does not have a clue why. Thus starts the action, danger, drama, and hilarious story as these two have to survive each other and the danger Jess is in to solve the mystery. Fun to read, enjoyed seeing other characters from the series show up to help, talking about you Claire, and just the trouble these two find themselves in. Just pure entertainment and a great addition to the series.
The death of a colleague draws Dr Jessica Ong into a mystery surrounding the origin of a new deadly street drug. Before she becomes aware of any danger, her ex-boyfriend Reece Owen rescues her from intruders in her home. Reece’s expertise in security is invaluable during the relentless pursuit of the pair by mercenaries and drug dealers. The distraction of relationship issues doesn’t hinder Reece from keeping Jessica safe but does force him to realise that she is a woman of substance that he has been a fool not to commit to. An enjoyable fast-paced medical mystery. (The author kindly made a copy of this novel available for review via Voracious Readers – with thanks).
CB Samet is a new author to me so I have no other reference. In spite of not having read the other books, this book is a stand alone & is about Jess and Reece's on again, off again relationship. Maybe it's a good thing I'm reading this in muvember as the descriptions of Reece's moustache amuse me.
Jess is being targeted due to some research she has been doing with a friend/colleague, when Reece rushes in in an attempt to save the day...or has he?
I'm looking forward to finishing this book off this evening.

These Rider books let you go on an action-packed romantic adventure that had me flipping quickly to the next page to see what happens. Reece’s protectiveness of Dr. Jessica makes him quite charming in my eyes and it also builds a relationship between them as he works to keep her safe. I haven’t found a book in this series that I haven’t liked as all of them are fast-paced romantic suspenses and have a fun couple in each one that finds their way to one another

It is non stop intrigue and danger as Jessica and Reece try to find out why Lori died and about illegal drug sales. The closer they get to the truth, the greater the danger becomes. The Rider team gets a new enemy but they expose the true crime and give credit to Lori. Along the way Reece finally tells Jessica he loves her and proposes.
This is the sixth book in the Rider Files Series, a Romantic Suspense. This is a series of standalone, but interconnected books. Jessica (Jess) and Reece’s second chance to love is suspenseful, action packed, and twisted. The storyline is captivating, filled with mystery, secrets, and intrigue. I loved to see again the characters from the first books. Impossible to put it down. I enjoyed it. Looking for more in the series.
Fast paced, second chance romance filled with plenty of suspense, drama and action. Someone is out to get Jessica, or rather something she unknowingly has and to solve the mystery of why her friend was killed. Reece is fantastic as the Ex, who realizes he made a mistake in walking away from Jessica the first time, and steps up to be the protective hero. The characters and the story draw you in from the first page to the last.
I've read a lot of books written by CB Samet; she is one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of her books.
This is the sixth book in the Rider Files Series; it is a stand-alone book. Jessica saves lives in the ICU; she comes home and finds men searching her apartment for a USB drive that she has no idea what is on it. She gets help from her ex-boyfriend Reece; he is a security expert.

A good read. The author had obviously carried out the medical research integral to the plot. From the references to earlier events the book appeared to be part of a series and although it was a good stand alone read, I think having read the preceding books would have been useful. Enjoyable, and fast paced , the main characters were well drawn and their relationship very believable.
This story is full of good characters, connections, chemistry, pasts, mistakes, reflections, suspense, crime, danger, family, friends, strength, trust, honesty, having another chance and love. I thought it all flowed along well and I enjoyed the mix of past and present.

The sixth book in the Rider Files series a well written suspense story that kept me turning pages. Dr. Jessica Ong and Reece Owen get a second chance in this story of drama, danger, twists, turns, villains, and romance. The story kept me on the edge of my seat. What and intriguing story! It is an suspenseful read bringing Jess and Reese back together. These two have been on/off again so many times but when her life is in danger her steps up. This is a really good story with some great twists and turns. I really love the characters and how their story develops.
Never a dull moment, either during all of the missions or the angst between Reese and Jess. Wow, this book is a high octane fueled joy ride from start to finish. I absolutely loved it and I'm already craving for more.
This book is highly satisfying and keeps your pulse pounding. It will not disappoint. I highly recommend it.
This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I enjoyed the style of writing and the characters. I will definitely go back and read the earlier books in the series and other books by this author.
I loved this book. I love how the story flows and keeps you wanting more. I love how the romance builds though out the book. This is an amazing series of books and I would definitely recommend this book and the complete series as a must read.
