Her heart thumped and her body ached as the forest scratched and clawed at her, but there was no way she could possibly stop.
Brianna St. Clare was running for her life, of that she was certain. The problem was, she had no memory of what she was running from.
A dragon shifter’s lair becomes the perfect place to hide, and there’s no better creature to protect her from the repercussions of her past crimes, than a dragon.
As the two of them try to piece together the gaps in her memory, Brianna finds herself drawn to a man with whom she couldn’t be more different. She wants her life back, but some of the dragon’s possessiveness is rubbing off on her, and now she’s wondering if she can keep what is hers.
Etienne tasted her fear on the wind and his dragon demanded he act.
Having rescued a lost and frightened woman in the woods, he may have found a new purpose for living.
However, she is a journalist who had her memory wiped because she planned to expose the paranormal world. Is his dragon’s fascination with the woman preventing him from doing what he should, to protect others like him?
All he knows is, his drive to possess, protect and pleasure the woman will either save or destroy him.
Broken Slumber is a dragon shifter paranormal romance and is the third in the Darkhills series. While each story can be read as a standalone, readers may wish to also read the earlier books: ‘Saved By The Big Bad Wolf’ and ‘Escaping The Beast’. Each book comes with a Happy Ever After.
This slow-burn, BWWM PNR contains steamy love scenes and some crude language. Recommended for an 18+ audience.
I have to say I bought this as the cover suggests that the female protagonist is a woman of colour yet sadly the author never once mentions this. I like the characters of Brianna and Etienne. It is just a shame that only her black curly hair and dark brown eyes are mentioned. A fairly good story but not enough suspense for my liking. Still very readable and I would recommend this novel. You also meet characters again from previous books!!
Pretty good, but didn't leave me satisfied? The hero Etienne was well-developed, but Brianna fell a little flat to me, in comparison. I think much of it was due to her memory loss, and I suppose I just wanted more answers on why she would act so out of character to expose the world (which was out of character in her own words, not me saying that). I got the impression maybe it was because she didn't truly think it was real and was going to write a speculative piece she didn't actually take much stock in, but that's just me trying to fill in the blanks.
It was still well-written, I suppose I just wanted a bigger push of tension and world building. I wasn't invested in the read or their story or why he even felt so drawn to her.
Book 3 of a series, this is a standalone story; characters from previous books appear but you don’t need to know their story to understand their part in this one. (I have not read any of the previous books in the series and probably will not.) it is definitely a slow burn but the author does a good job of keeping it interesting. There is lots of character development of the two main characters which is great because they are the focus the majority of the book. Overall I enjoyed it.
Brianna is lost in the woods near dragon shift Etienne’s liar. She is confused about how she arrived in the woods and is missing a chunk of her memory. Her situation is linked to story #2 but both books can be enjoyed without having read the other. Soon Brianna comes to realize that Etienne and his dragon are both caretakers and gentlemen but will secrets tear them apart? Brianna shows a lot of growth and Etienne is such a sweet character!
This was an absolutely perfect story. In the previous book we were introduced to these characters but who would've thought a dragon would fall in love with a reporter who had originally sought to expose the paranormal world and vice versa. Praying this author adds to the Darkhills series!
I was sad that this was the last book. I want to be for the mating ceremony. I wanted to be there for the birth of the alphas baby and find out if B and Brianna can have kids. Did lord Nightingale turn Katherine. I love every book thank you. You got to read in order to understand everything it is so worth it.
What a wonderful, fantastical love story! Etienne is this apex predator who softens for his mate Brianna. He is so tender with her and their chemistry is so...swoony. Thanks to the author for penning this delicious BWWM tale!
I had fun reading the Darkhills series. I’m glad you included a character of my ethnic origin. I love the growly male characters that turn into faithful & overprotective men upon meeting their mate.
This story was engaging and super cute. Brianna was hilarious and Etienne was the perfect gentleman. I enjoyed how he was super protective of her and very patient. This is a must read.
Loved Etienne and Brianna's story. Nice to get a glimpse of characters from book one and two. I hurt for Etienne when Brianna left him. Kudos to the author 👏👏👏👏
I love the way the two previous books in the series connects seamlessly with this one. I also love dragon stories, so for this reason and the storyline, this has become my favorite book (so far) in the series.
