Dear Readers,

The love stories in my family have always been fodder for romance novels.

My maternal grandmother and grandfather simultaneously ran a business together and raised four daughters, long before it was an accepted thing to do.  Grandpa O’Dell ran the gas station and the barber shop; Grandma O’Dell managed the grocery and cooked for customers.  They were true partners and madly in love and parted, tragically, way too soon when he succumbed to cancer when he was in his early fifties.  Grandma grieved deeply but eventually picked herself up, started a new career as a cafeteria chef, and eventually found deep romantic love and happiness again, in the form of a second marriage.

This book is a cute Christmas/Marriage of convenience story. Faith is a widowed woman about to adopt 5-month-old Quinn when Zach, the child’s biological father, appears out of nowhere, claiming his paternity. They come to an agreement for the baby’s sake because he’s a navy SEAL and will be deployed in the future for indefinite periods of time. However, the judge in charge of little Quinn’s case rejects the idea so, in order to remove their kid from the foster care system, they decide to marry. What they both doesn’t know is that this “strategy” will affect them more than they expected…

Although the chemistry between Zach and Faith is there, the truth here is there are times when the balance tips more to one side and it seems that one of them is more involved than the other. The time factor and how quickly everything happens between the couple (just a few weeks) brings more disparity.

Fortunately, some supporting characters and their stories complement the main story. Also, most of them turn out to be very picturesque. Since Faith works in a nursing home, the contrasting personalities of the residents are effective for the story, and some scenes are hilarious for this reason. The small-town-where-EVERYTHING-is-known factor contributes positively to the plot.

With a light and fast reading, good writing that doesn’t lean into melodramas, believable scenes, tender moments, and a HEA ending —beautiful epilogue included— the fifth installment of Lockharts Lost & Found series is a great choice to read during this Christmas season.

Made for each other

Faith had her heart set on adopting Quinn and found more than she bargained for in Zach. He wanted to know if the baby was his so he could right by him and found a love of a lifetime .

Faith Lockhart is at the end of the adoption process of her foster baby boy, Quinn, when, to her surprise, Quinn's dad, Navy SEAL Lt. Zach Callahan, shows up at her front door. And even though everyone wants to do the right thing, the judge rejects the adoption plans. Which leads Faith and Zach to getting married quickly, setting up house, getting together, and making plans for the adoption and Zach's deployment. Sounds easy peasy, right? Except. . .

A Very Special Holiday

Could a baby boy bring a Navy SEAL and a small town assisted living accountant together for Christmas they will always remember? A wonderful large cast of characters, a sweet, buddy romance, and the baby that will make all their lives happier. Enjoy!
