When best friends marry a pair of brothers, their fairytale ending leads to a terrifying new chapter in this psychological thriller—“definitely recommended” (Curled Up with a Good Book, UK).
Flora and Sophie are ready to put their traumatic past behind them when they fall in love with a pair of brothers. Now life would be a dream come true—if it wasn’t for their mother-in-law. Disappointed that her sons have married beneath them, Cecilia constantly belittles the two young brides. And when she learns that her son Sam is moving away with Flora, her taunting turns to outright wrath.
Suddenly, strange things start happening to Flora—things that even Sam finds hard to believe. Meanwhile, Sophie’s life is crumbling around her. Her marriage is not what it seems, and she is desperate to escape the clutches of her poisonous new family. Will Sophie and Flora have to give up on love in order to survive?
This was my first time reading a book by this author. Extremely clever writing by osbourne, This was such a rollercoaster of suspense- I’m usually quite good at working out the angles in a thriller which is why they aren’t my favourite genre but i had no clue who was the one causing flora pain and maybe thinking it could be Flora herself. The big reveal was a super shock. Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Best friends Flora and Sophie are living the life. Married to brothers Sam and Greg, they've left a disquieting childhood and moved into a family of wealth.
The mother-in-law, Cecelia, does not care for either of the women her sons married. They are "beneath" her. She discredits Flora every chance she gets and although Flora tells her husband, he really doesn't pay much attention. Sophie is married to Greg ... and that marriage is not what it seems. She desperately wants to get out of the marriage, out of the toxic family.
When Cecelia learns that Flora and Sam are moving away, she loses all appearances of being the doting mother-in-law. Flora seems to be a target. Her credit cards disappear from her purse.... someone tried to drown her ... it just goes on and on and on. Are they warnings that she cannot move ... or is it something more lethal?
How far will Cecelia to go to hang onto her much-loved son? How far will she go to get rid of Flora?
With a mother-in-law like Cecelia, anything is possible…
It's an intricate plot filled with twists and turns and characters that are deftly drawn. Fast-paced, it's full of action ... a real page turner... from the very first page to the very unexpected conclusion.
Many thanks to the author / Bloodhound Books for the digital copy of this psychological thriller. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
This twisty-turny narrative manipulates you as much as poor Flora! I loved every page and couldn’t wait to find out the truth behind Flora’s attacks. A great, thrilling read of cat and mouse.
Flora and her best friend, Sophie, have married into a very wealthy family. On the surface, this seems like marital bliss however, clearly the in-laws do not feel the same. Very early on, Osborne demonstrates how Alistair and Cecelia, the head of the family, dislike their sons’ marital choice. The things that Cecelia comes out with during their weekly Friday night dinner, made my toes curl. She truly is awful and knows exactly what to say to ensure she hurts Sophie or Flora the most.
Although Sophie and Flora are the bestest of friends who have come from isolated, loveless backgrounds, in present day, they could not be more different. Flora, determined not to use her husband’s money, has set up a dedicated centre to support children with autism. Despite Sam showing himself to be loving and supportive in every way, Flora wants to remain as detached from her husband’s family as much as possible. Who can blame her? Osborne reveals a very domineering mother-in-law as Cecelia has purchased the house that Sam and Flora live in – next door to Sophie and Greg – and only five minutes away from her home. This leads to Cecelia just dropping in unannounced, whenever she feels, usually throwing many insults around and attempting to dominate the decor to her own tastes. Seriously, what a dislikeable woman!
On the other hand, Sophie works in the family firm and is shown to be very career-driven. She has done well for herself, working opposite her husband in a significant position in the company. But this has not been plain-sailing; her in-laws have attempted to de-rail her at any opportunity. Sophie is definitely the more stronger than the two friends but it definitely did not prepare me for her secrets, as Flora’s life also starts to unravel.
The threats and gas-lighting that Flora experiences were awful and I could not help but feel sorry for her. She feels trapped and powerless, turning to Sophie when her husband does not appear to believe her claims. Throughout the novel, Sophie shows she only wants what is best for Flora and is determined to protect her from Cecelia and whoever is threatening Flora. Flora relies on Sophie for this strength but, gradually, we do see Flora start to grow and become more decisive in her actions. This was really empowering to watch as Flora was resolved to not be manipulated any more.
Although I had some ideas about how the narrative would develop, this certainly did not lessen my enjoyment. I loved the contrasts that the writer establishes between the different character connections and I was intrigued to see if my predictions were correct. I could really get a grasp of Flora’s panic and isolation and felt that the only way I could help her was by finishing the book sooner!
This is a great, thrilling read and I loved the way the narrative switched between Flora and Sophie. There aren’t any formal markers on the chapters, which I did find slightly disorientating. However, I think Osborne has done this deliberately to reflect the web of deceit that surrounds Flora and Sophie. Instead, we get a glimpse of the lifestyle of both girls and how they attempt to protect themselves from what can only be described as the mother-in-law from hell!
A brilliant piece of writing, this suspenseful book will have you gripped, like me, from the very beginning. Not to be missed.
With thanks to Bloodhound books for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I received a gifted advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review as part of a book tour via Lovebookstours and the publishers.
Save Her is a twisty turney read of cat and mouse. We meet Sophie and Flora in this book. They have been best friends since childhood and stayed very close through their shared history of troubled traumatic childhoods. Sophie meets Greg who is very wealthy and as fate would have it, Flora ends up dating and marrying his brother Sam. Greg is power hungry like Sophie but their well made match gets cracks after they marry. Flora keeps having bizzare tricks played on her which cause her to question her sanity and her husband doesn't believe her. Meanwhile Cecelia (the mother in law from hell) enjoys taunting and mistreating both daughter in laws due to her dislike of them. Cecelia is horrible and her husband is just as bad. How Sophie and Flora cope with her is applauding. I really felt for poor Flora and her emotional torment got my heart racing. My predictions were correct in this novel, however I really enjoyed it regardless.
A BIG thank you to @lovebookstours for the opportunity to review this book! I was kindly #Gifted this for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book! It's was full of twists & turns. I was NOT expecting that twist at all! I really connected with the characters, having absolute distain for Celia & Allistair & really feeling for Flora. It was written really well & the story flowed nicely.
I'd definietly snap this up! It's on Kindle Unlimited at the moment!
Flora and Sophie have married brothers and have been best friends since they were children. Both of them have had their own tormented pasts, but have always had each other to cling onto for support. Their mother-in-law wants them both out of her son's lives and is determined to ruin them. When Flora begins to fear for her life she realises that she can't even trust her husband.
Oh my God! I LOVED this book. I began reading it thinking one thing and by the end I was like "whhhaaaat?!" I did manage to work out one of the twists, but that didn't stop me from turning the pages. This book is so clever and so well written. You get to read from both Flora and Sophie's point of view, each page providing a new snippet of information, a new angle.
The writing style is amazing. Really beautifully written. It drew me in and I found myself so connected to the characters. The ending wasn't what I was expecting at all (and that's a good thing!) It kept me guessing all the way through.
To be honest there's nothing I didn't like about this book. Some of the characters are extremely unlikeable though!
Review Wow, this is the first book in a while that I have read in one day. I couldn't put it down. It had so many twists and turns which added to the suspense.
I was fully invested in this storyline and was on the girl's sides all the way through, their connection was so strong and each have a past filled with grief and loss.
I loved how Sophie felt compelled to look after Flora and as the story unravels you get a glimpse into how that came about. The last quarter of the book was so fast paced and full of action.
I love Abigail's style of writing, she has a way of grabbing hold of you and not letting go. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Best friends since childhood. Married to brothers of a very wealthy family. Life is bliss. Or is it.... would you give up your husband to save your best friend’s life....??
Weeeeellll this was just a peach of a book. We meet Sophie and Flora, two best friends since they were little, who seem to have struck gold and married two brothers of an incredibly wealthy family. However, very quickly, we discover all is not what it seems.
Gripping from the beginning, the pace builds nicely as very strange things happen to Flora - who is tormenting her? Is she losing her mind? The tension builds until we reach the last third of the book then BOOM - off it goes on a fabulous suspenseful rollercoaster, full of twists and revelations that will leave you wanting more. That last one though 🤭
Brilliant characters, I felt for both Flora and Sophie - what a vile pair Cecelia and Alistair are...! I guessed what was happening but the revelations and twists were still delicious and I raced through the latter half of the book.
Thrilling read for lovers of domestic noir and psychological thrillers alike, highly recommended. Abigail is an author that will automatically pop on to my TBR now 🙌 I was gifted a kindle copy by LoveBooksTours, Abigail and BloodHound Books. My review is voluntary and thoughts are entirely my own.
The power of friendships. The true meaning of family and the lengths they will go to protect their loved ones. “Save Her” by Abigail Osborne is a taut psychological thriller which starts off slowly but once it gets going you know all about it! An excellent read with many twists and turns, dark secrets uncovered and creepy events which will unnerve you!
A few years ago I enjoyed Abigail Osborne's debut novel, The Puppet Master and said at the end of that review that I was looking forward to reading more from this author in the future. Having devoured Save Her in a day, I can now confidently declare that I will go on to read anything else she writes - even if, as with Save Her, they're not necessarily the easiest books to review... Having finished the novel with my jaw dropped to the floor, I set about trying to write this review, hoping I could do it justice without giving anything away. I'm mindful not to mention too much about the plot - it really is a thriller that needs to be read without too many hints as to what will occur. What I can say, however, is that this is a fabulous demonstration of how to drive the momentum in a book. Throughout the first two-thirds of the story, Abigail Osborne understands exactly how to steadily drip-feed the sense of foreboding, with Flora gradually being terrorised by an unseen hand. The earliest indication that somebody is playing with her mind comes fairly soon after she announces at the weekly Friday Night Dinner at her in-laws that she and her husband, Sam will be moving away. After that she is subjected to an increasingly malevolent campaign which seems designed to terrify her into submission. From the perplexingly sinister to the chillingly violent, Flora's life is turned upside down, with one scene in particular almost too revolting to contemplate. Although Sam is slow to comprehend what's happening to Flora, she always has the support of her best friend and sister-in-law, Sophie. If the pace-setting is exemplary, then so too is the characterisation, with Flora and Sophie, and the relationship between them being utterly compelling. Friends since childhood, the pair met and married brothers, Sam and Greg respectively and now live next door to one another. As the novel progresses, we slowly discover more about the unshakeable bond between them, forged through their difficult upbringings. Now both part of the wealthy Cavendish family, Sophie has embraced their money whereas Flora shuns it, preferring to work for herself in her art centre for autistic children. They are very different women; Flora is caring and dedicated to the children she supports, Sophie is ruthlessly ambitious but they remain united against the vitriol they encounter in the form of their monstrous mother-in-law, Cecelia. If there's ever a character to love to hate then Cecelia is it. Right from the start, she made it clear that she believed her sons were marrying beneath them and is especially vile to the more passive Flora. Her bitter asides, whispered barbs and imperious control over the family is oppressive and intimidating. It's obvious that Sam is her favourite son and that he appears blind to her faults but the chapters that follow Sophie reveal she is becoming progressively panicky about the hold the Cavendishes have over them. While Flora is apparently being targeted by somebody who seems to know her every move, Sophie is desperate for them both to make their escape. The latter third of the book ups the pace and after the gradual escalation of tension, the dramatic revelations and nail-biting scenes here are shocking and absolutely riveting. The twists keep coming until the very end with a conclusion that left me stunned. I loved Save Her, it's a suspenseful, addictive psychological thriller and I thoroughly recommend it.

It appears that Sophie and Flora may be forced to leave their husbands and life behind in order to survive, because with a mother-in-law like Cecelia, anything is possible.
Review:
The eye-catching front cover initially caught my attention, along with the question, “Would you give up your husband to save your friend’s life.” It is safe to say my interest was already piqued and I instantly wanted to know more about this book. The blurb also left me hanging after hooking me in, this book sounded like my kind of read and something I could sink my teeth into, I was excited to find out and I can safely say I was not left disappointed either!
The powerful opener kicked off the story, this was again another clever tactic Abigail used to hook you in. The chapters then continued to be short and snappy which kept the story flowing at a pace that really worked for me. I also really liked how the narrative switched so you could get into both Flora and Sophie’s head which made this read more powerful. Some of the chapter endings kept me in suspense and throughout I was curious to see how things would unfold. The author really does like to keep you hanging, you can’t put the book down once you begin reading even if you wanted to.
I liked how instantly, I didn’t know who I could trust, there were certain characters that I really doubted but I will not dig into this as I don’t want to spoil this read for others. What I will say is Abigail cleverly makes you feel certain ways to characters that can instantly change and at times makes you feel a little guilty for this! As for Flora, she was a generally nice character but at times I did feel like giving her a huge shake for her naivety
Abilgail did a fantastic job at making me second guess myself throughout but I work out what could happen quite early on. Although I did guess the plot however, the climax was definitely worth the wait and it did not disappoint and to some who may not work things out, they may find themselves quite shocked. I love how twisty this read was, it was definitely a manipulative page turned.
The ending left me wanting more, I would have loved to see how Flora and Sam coped with the aftermath, I had so many questions! Abigail is a very clever writer and this fantastic, suspenseful book definitely makes me want to read more of her work.
This was my first book by this author and I will definitely be looking out for anything else she writes. This was a suspenseful thriller and was such a page turner. The big reveal was a surprise to me. My only complaint would be that at times it felt unbelievable. Well worth a read.
I must say I rather enjoyed reading this one. I thought the storyline was quite an interesting one and the story definitely didn’t go down the route I originally thought it would when I started it. It was definitely a cleverer story than I thought it was going to be too. It reminded me of The Mother-in-Law by Sally Hepworth in a way, so if you’re a fan of that one you may like this too. It also had that family drama/thriller vibe to it that that one did too! You spend the whole of the read not knowing who to trust or who to suspect. The ending was really good too and had a few aspects that I did not see coming at all. Just when I thought I’d worked out what was going on I was still surprised by some of the outcome!
Thank you to the author for a gifted ebook in exchange for an honest review
Save Her follows best friends Sophie and Flora, who have been bonded by their traumatic childhoods, they have grown up together and are inseparable friends who have married brothers; Sam and Greg. However, what they could not have anticipated was their mother-in-law, Cecelia, who is disappointed that her sons have married beneath them, so she takes every opportunity to belittle and taunt both her daughter’s-in-law.
However, things take a turn for the worse when the family learn that Flora and Sam are moving home; this causes Cecelia’s wrath to escalate, and Flora’s world to fall apart. Meanwhile, Sophie’s life is also crumbling around her. Her marriage is not what it seems, and she is desperate to escape the clutches of the poisonous family she has married into.
Save Her has you asking two questions throughout the entire book;
• Is Flora being tormented or is she losing her mind?
• Will Sophie and Flora be forced to leave their husbands in order to survive?
This is the first book that I have read by Abigail Osborne and it was a delight, the story is full of twists and turns and the characters are so well written that you honestly cannot stop questioning yourself of the way that the book is going throughout. It is such a fast paced, action packed read, with the mystery that you just want to solve, and the ending is so powerful but also to me feels open ended, like there is the possibility for a sequel – yes please!
The characters are very well written, and I completely sympathise with majority of them, minus Cecelia who is a very well written “Villain” plus I like the way that the book flips between Sophie’s and Flora’s point of view, I feel that really adds to their development as well as the plots development, however I would of liked more development on one of Cecelia’s character points, I feel that it deserved more than the passing comments it was given.
There are a number of emotions this book made me feel, it is so strange to have that level of anger or sadness within a book, that there were a number of times I just wanted to scream at Flora to get away, not to mention the monster-in-law, I really wanted her to get her comeuppance!
I would easily read other works by this author as I feel her writing style is fantastic and her ability to engross you in her novels is brilliant, I want more and honestly when’s the sequel? I feel like I can’t say too much without giving away massive spoilers, other than try to keep up with the twists and turns and get ready for that completely unexpected ending!
I would mention that there are a number of scenes in this book that could be triggering and a theme of domestic violence and abortion which could upset some readers, so I would highlight these before reading, but other than that I would recommend this to readers who enjoy mystery books as well as psychological thrillers
Other than having Cecilia as a Mother-in-Law, Flora is happy. She’s loved up with her husband Sam, owns and runs a centre for autistic children which she adores, and lives next door to her best friend Sophie. But, things are about to get better – her and Sam are moving home….away from Cecilia. But when Cecilia finds out she is fuming….and then strange things start to happen to Flora and her world slowly begins to fall apart.
But the things that are happening are hard to believe, and even Sam isn’t sure if they’re really happening. But are they? Or is Flora losing her mind? Sophie also has stuff going on – her world isn’t all it seems and she’s determined to get away from the family she has married in to. But will she get away? Will she take Flora with her? Or is it too late for them both?
I was completely gripped by this and just wanted to keeping picking it up to read another chapter! The suspense is fantastic – I literally had no idea what was going to happen next. As always I started suspecting everyone as I had no clue who might be responsible for the things happening….it was a continuous guessing game! And I didn’t see the end coming either!
In terms of the characters, Flora is lovely but I feel like she’s a little naive. At times I wanted to give her a little shake and tell her to sort herself out – but then also had to remember that she’d been through a lot in the past. Sophie is completely the opposite – a strong woman who is determined to get what she wants, and take the best care of her friend that she can. Some of the characters surprised me – I’m not going to say who but some I detested but actually liked them by the end!
The author has a brilliant way of telling the story and really gets you with the creepiness and suspense. My only gripe was that, at times, I felt that the writing didn’t flow freely e.g. did not instead of didn’t. It might just be the way I like to read but it upset my flow occasionally. However, this is a tiny thing in contrast to how fantastic this book is!
So if you’re looking for your next psychological thriller that’s full of suspense and will keep you guessing, and then blow you away with the ending, then this is for you. Definitely recommended by me.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Today’s book tour blog Save Her by Abigail Osborne
If you love a good old psychological thriller then this is for you! A story about the bonds of friendship and family.....but is all as it seems???? This book had me hooked from the beginning and I had a LOT of “oh whaaaat” moments. I definitely never expected the way the story would eventually turn and I absolutely love when that happens. A fantastic read which I totally recommend. You guys need to get this book in your collection or you’ll be missing out!!
Blurb
Bonded by their traumatic childhoods, Flora and Sophie are inseparable friends who married brothers.
What they could not have anticipated was their mother-in-law, Cecelia. Disappointed that her children have married beneath them, Cecelia takes every opportunity to belittle and taunt her daughter’s-in-law.
When Cecelia learns that Flora and her son are moving away, her wrath escalates, and Flora’s world begins to fall apart.
Meanwhile, Sophie’s life is also crumbling around her. Her marriage is not what it seems, and she is desperate to escape the clutches of the poisonous family she has married into.
Is Flora being tormented or is she losing her mind? Will Sophie and Flora be forced to leave their husbands in order to survive?
With a mother-in-law like Cecelia, anything is possible…
Flora announces from the very beginning that she has developed a torrent of hatred towards her mother-in-law Cecelia and wishes her dead. Now she is in the hospital and it is Flora’s fault, will her husband ever forgive her for nearly killing his mother? As the plot unfolds we are caught up in the unravelling of why.
Flora and Sophie have the closest of bonds, practically growing up as sisters. They married rich brothers and live five minutes from each other. They have been inseparable – until now. Flora can no longer stand living under the shadow of their mother-in-law Cecelia, leaving Sophie utterly devastated and potentially without an ally.
Flora runs an art centre for autistic children. Linda, desperate to gain help for her son Ethan begs Flora to allow Ethan to attend for free. In return, Linda offers to work as a cleaner. Flora is full of sympathy for little Ethan’s plight but asks Sophie to let Linda down gently. If she hands out one free place then more would follow. Flora could borrow money from Cecelia to fund more places for free and to fund more centres but Flora refuses to take anything from that devilish woman.
After years of snide, abusive comments about her background/status, Flora finally snaps at Cecelia. Flora can’t fathom how Cecelia uses none of her wealth to help those in need like Linda but hoards it instead like a dragon. Big mistake. Suddenly, Flora’s cards go missing and then re-appear the next day. Next thing she knows, the furniture in her house has moved around every so slightly. Flora believes that Cecelia has begun a nasty mind game but wonders where it will end …
So, I read this book in pretty much one sitting. It was the absolute definition of a page turner and I couldn’t put it down. The character descriptions were so thorough, it was easy for me to visualise them all – for example, Cecelia was the embodiment of “Horrible Grandma” from Friday Night Dinner for me, I saw her every time Cecelia was mentioned.
The tension in the story builds and builds. There are so many twists and turns – some people and situations are not what they seem to be and this makes for a very gripping story.
There is one scene in particular that is written in such horrifying detail, I was amazed at Abigail’s skill and imagination. Only to later discover that she employed the method acting priinciples and actually put herself through this abomination to give her re-telling of the situation depth and accuracy. For that alone, she deserves some sort of medal. When you read the book, you will definitely know which scene I am talking about and you too will be impressed and repulsed in equal measure.
Also as the child of alchoholic parents, I can confirm that the depiction of Sophie’s mother is crudely, painfully accurate.
Honestly this is a book not to be missed. I bought a copy for a thriller loving friend and I know this is one I will read again.
Who wants to join me in lobbying the author for a sequel? I would also love to see this made into a movie or a TV mini series – the Monday at 9pm drama slot on ITV would be perfect.
A mother in law from hell, a dysfunctional family, a marriage not as it seems, secrets, lies, deceit, domestic abuse, manipulation, toxic relationships and friendship all play a role in this engrossing tale from Abigail Osborne.
So when you read the above did you need to take a breath? Phew I did and I wrote it! This book is mentally exhausting with everything that goes on and is so very riveting. The plot is intricately woven and pulls you into its web, its narrative is compelling and multifaceted.
I love these stories that are bursting full of drama and you definitely get that in this book. Above all else though, the main crux of it is about the friendship between Flora and Sophie. Friends since childhood, all they have had is each other and I enjoyed learning of its origin, how it has developed over time and how it is portrayed in the present.
All the characters are all interesting and intriguing. That Cecelia is a piece of work! The things that come out of that woman’s mouth, oh my goodness she is something else. I loved Flora and felt very protective of her especially when in the firing line of Cecelia wrath!
Save Me is an addictive psychological thriller. It is a well written and fast paced with no unnecessary filler chapters, making for a quick and smooth read. The twist was unexpected and well done and everything played out perfectly. All up a very satisfying read.
Flora have been friend with Sophie for almost entire of her life, they knew each other since they’re 4yo. They have been in ruthless life, right after Flora’s parents died in accidents, she was staying with her terrible aunt and while Sophie’s mother is a worst alcoholic.
They have been depending on each other since then, so when Sophie met Greg she thought she finally found her life, she introduced Sam, Greg younger brother to Flora. They happily married then, but the happiness doesn’t really care about them, meeting Cecelia as their monster in law makes their life suffers. Sometimes Cecelia comments, attitudes and act always hurt Sophie and Flora. Greg and Sam are from most influential and rich family, Cecelia doesn’t think both of them deserve to be part of them.
Things getting intense when Flora announced that Sam and her will moved out from the house and moved to Flora’s parents house hence her aunt is passed away. Cecelia loathe Flora, Sophie gobsmacking but she is happy for Flora.
Flora getting so many threats, Flora found out that Sophie have been abused by her husband.
What will Flora do?

A really interesting, well written thriller that had plenty of twists and turns. The characters were really interesting and the family dynamic, especially Flora and Sophie of best friends to sisters in law, kept things very tight and it was difficult to know who to trust through most of the book. One thing I didn't like was some of the chapters ending with a sentence designed to give a feeling of 'little did she know how important that would be later...' I felt like this was quite amateur and not needed in this story at all. The writing was really good but this just, for me, took it from a fantastic read to a good read. I had guessed one of the twists quite early on but other parts left me in suspense till the very end. I feel like a lot has been left up in the air ready for a sequel. There was so much happened in this that it will be interesting to see what the author can pack into a follow up, if she decides to do that. Overall it was a good, fast paced, twisty turny thriller that I think q lot of people will really enjoy!
Here’s the thing. Most books I have read so far are full of praises from other authors, popular media platforms, etc. book covers adorned with praise. Not this one. It had none. So I did kind of wonder if this book was going to be good.
The book was freaking amazing. It did such a great job of misleading me for a good chunk I almost feel embarrassed. But that’s a compliment. It only began to dawn on me what was actually happening about halfway through, and the book gave it away bit by bit, just enough to get you to wonder and then to finally confirm these suspicions. I am so happy I got this book and once I got around a third into it I simply couldn’t put it down.
I do admit I was very frustrated with the characters at times but I could never fault them. What would you have done if you were in Flora’s shoes? Sophie was the only person she trusted wholeheartedly, never had an issue with her, why would you ever doubt her? I kept reminding myself of this as I got impatient over Flora’s decisions and way of thinking, but overall it made sense.

I was really looking forward to reading this book, as who doesn’t love a story of a twisted mother-in-law (disclaimer: my mother-in-law is actually lovely 😊) and it did not disappoint. There were lots of twists and turns and even the reader wasn’t quite sure if Flora was being targeted or if she was actually having some sort of breakdown. All of the characters, even the very few likeable ones, were under suspicion and I was kept guessing until nearly the end. There was one scene in the book that really made me ‘squirm’ and while unpleasant, the author’s imaginative writing ensured this book was slightly different from other psychological novels. My only criticism (which is really a compliment) was that it ended far to soon. There were so many more things I wanted to know and would happily have kept on reading. But then that is a sign of a good book, if it leaves you wanting more.
This was a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
Flora and Sophie have always been the best of friends. They are now married to the wealthy Cavendish brothers and even live on the same street. The only problem? Their overbearing mother in law, Cecelia. And those houses on the same street? Cecelia bought them, has keys, and shows up unannounced. Her meddlesome ways aren’t as concerning as the utter disdain she holds for both her daughter in laws.
Flora and her husband announce they are going to move and all hell breaks loose. Flora soon falls victim to a series of pranks, which become menacing attacks. Is her mother in law behind them? Can Flora be saved?
While reading thrillers I get so annoyed with myself. Instead of simply reading the story as it’s laid out, I am constantly wondering what’s going to happen- Who did it? Is this the twist?
I thought I had Save Her worked out pretty quickly. I saw the writing on the wall and was feeling pretty smug with myself. But let me tell you, I knew nothing. The ending of this book truly blew my mind.
Wow, I loved this book so much and I’m gutted that I’ve finished reading it. Told through the perspectives of friends, Flora and Sophie, it had me sucked in from the start. The relationships were deep, the writing was gripping, and I really enjoyed the snappy chapters, too.
If you love psychological thriller, grab this one and let it come forth and play with your mind in the same way it played with mine. Such a fun and chilling read. The exploration of the friends’ relationship took me on a whirlwind of a journey. So good was the sleight of hand, I found my suspect list bouncing all over the place.
This is the second book I’ve read by Abigail Osborne and both were fabulously fast. ‘Save Her’ is a must read and perfect if you’re thinking of what to take on your holiday right now. Don’t miss this dark, delicious thriller!
This is a fantastic read. It’s such a well written, twisting turning thriller. It has hints of crime on so many levels.
From the moment I opened it I was hooked and did not put the book down until it was finished. I just needed to know the who, what and why.
I hadn’t read anything by Abigail Osborne before, but I will definitely look out for her work now! Not only do I feel I may have a new favourite author on my list, but it’s definitely on my favourites of the year so far.
Absolutely astounding. It’s like starting on a roller coaster that starts slowly, then ramps it it up with sharp turns that leave you breathless.
With thanks to LoveBooksGroup, the Author and publisher for the advanced reading copy of this book.
This book is the psychological thriller you have been waiting for. In fact, it's the Summer read you need in your life. It will have you on the edge of your seat, reading the whole book in one sitting, and screaming at your copy as if you could actually change what the characters are doing. There are so many twists and turns, and as a regular thriller reader, it is difficult to pull the wool over my eyes and not trot out the standard thriller tropes, but Osborne truly managed this! The dynamic between the 4 main characters is very interesting, and allows the read to become suspicious of each one in turn and then question everything they've learned in the prior chapters. This book toys with your emotions, and I love it!
