Building a Kindness Army: The Passionate Fight against Food Insecurity

Rate this book
The Lowcountry Blessing Box Project is a network of more than 200 anonymous food donation sites with the motto "Leave what you can, take what you need." This is the story of its formation and the unexpected movement it created when people came together to increase empathy and feed their community without judgment. More importantly, Katie Dahlheim presents a step-by-step blueprint for anyone who wants to establish a successful network of free pantries.

Great things can happen from an idea

This story opened my eyes to how a community can come together and support the needs of others. From an idea of how to unify people to be kind to one another, the Lowcountry Blessing Box Project has encouraged supporters to expand and broaden their outreach to serve others. Many of us have noticed the little food pantries and thought 'what a great idea', without truly knowing the food insecurity that some families in our communities experience.
