When Kate learns that her class is going on a field trip to the aquarium, she is thrilled that she'll get to see the penguin exhibit! The rockhopper penguins are her favorite. To prepare, Ms. Eberlin assigns the class a project: each student has to do a report about a different animal at the aquarium. Even though Kate gets assigned sea lions, she's still thrilled to go. Kate, Birdie, and the rest of the class excitedly prepare for their projects until it's finally Aquarium Day! But when a huge snowstorm threatens to ruin the class's field trip, will Kate the Chemist be able to save the day with science?

Dr. Kate Biberdorf is a scientist and a chemistry professor at The University of Texas. She has a PhD in inorganic chemistry and has published her work in Catalysis, Science, and Technology. Her 7-book series for kids with Penguin breaks down the image of the stereotypical scientist, while reaching those who may be intimidated by science. She has appeared on The Today Show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, Wendy Williams Show, and Late Night with Stephen Colbert. She lives in Austin TX with her family.

Kate is back and learning about sea creatures. Along with her classmates, she is heading to Shedd Aquarium on a huge field trip. Readers see the her cope with disappointments along the way and figure out she can solve emotional problems too.

There are so many cute science books now and this is one of them! Lots of character growth for Kate and this is a kids book that shows what good friends act like!
