A little boy chases a stray dog into the path of a cement truck. This heart-pounding meeting brings two wounded souls together.
Rosa Santos, a single mom, has come to the groundbreaking of her Habitat for Humanity house. When a handsome volunteer, Mark Chambers, puts himself in harms way to save her seven-year-old son, she can barely thank him, her heart in her throat.
From then on Rosa and Mark’s paths keep meeting. When they work together building her house and when he coaches her son’s Beginner’s Soccer team. Rosa suffers from her own hurts but the gray smudges under Marc’s eyes tug at her heart. What secret pain bedevils this good, kind man?
From a USA Today Bestselling author, a heartwarming story of love, faith and God’s healing power. And the joy of furry friends!
Lyn grew up loving books. Her favorite night of the week was Friday night, when the Bookmobile came to her neighborhood in Illinois. She’d spend those two hours chatting with the driver of the Bookmobile and the librarian and making the big decision of the week — which books to check out! In those distant days, children were limited in how many books they could check out. Lyn could only take home six a week — and there were so many to choose from. Her favorites were Cotton in my Sack by Lois Lenski, The Little House series and the One of a Kind Family series. Later, she discovered Georgette Heyer’s Regency romances! This love of books led to a desire to write. Lyn won prizes in high school and college for her poetry and, not surprisingly, Lyn became a history and English teacher. When she became a mother, she gave up teaching, and while raising a son and a daughter, she began working on her first novel. Then she wrote her second and third. Long years of rejection followed — as it does for most writers. Finally in 1997, Lyn got "the call." Her first book, Never Alone, was chosen to appear in the first year of the new Love Inspired line. Lyn has written many articles on writing and the emerging Christian Booksellers Assoc. (CBA) fiction market. In 2006, Lyn's book, Chloe, is a finalist for the RWA's RITA, the highest award in the romance genre in the inspirational category. Now, Lyn spends her days writing books that show the power of divine as well as human love. Her nest is empty and she and her real life hero, her husband, have more and more time to spend together in their home on a lake in the lovely northwoods. And books are still dear to her heart.
This was such a good story! Rosa, her son, Johnny, and Marc were great characters. Rosa and Marc found themselves thrown together again and again for various reasons and even though they both resisted, they began to fall for each other.
This story dealt with how people handle guilt. Guilt over situations that were from bad decisions as well as guilt over things out of our control. Rosa and Marc both carried guilt that kept them from experiencing fully all God had blessed them with.
Rosa and Marc’s growing interest in each other was very realistic, as was the way Johnny looked up to Marc. It was wonderful to watch as Marc began to not only fall in love with Rosa, but also to see Johnny as a father would a son. So sweet!

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
Rosa’s Forever Home by Lyn Cote New Neighbor Lane Series Book Two Marc Chambers had been in a serious accident in the beginning of the year. He was healed from all of his breaks, bumps, and bruises…but not from the emotions. The guilt that caused nightmares. The guilt that clung to him. The guilt that said he didn’t deserve happiness in his life. Rosa Santos also carried guilt. Her son, Johnny, had no father to love him. She’d made bad choices as a teen and felt the guilt of it even now. She doesn’t feel deserving of the Habitat for Humanity house she’s getting. Or that she deserves a good man. God forgives when we ask Him. It’s our human nature that clings to that guilt. As if we enjoy beating ourselves with it daily. Marc and Rosa have a chance to have love and a family…if only they can lay that guilt at God’s throne and not pick it up again. Loved the story and the characters. If you cry easily, you may want tissues nearby. https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
This is a heartwarming love story for Rosa and Marc. They both had to learn to let God remove the guilt they had over things that happened in their past even when they had no control over what happened. Rosa is a single Mom to a sweet boy named Johnny. Marc lives with his Grandmother while still recovering from injuries he sustained in a multi-car pileup he was involved in almost a year ago. He decides to volunteer to help build a Habitat for Humanity home for Rosa, her son, and her grandmother. The beginning of the book starts with Marc saving Johnny from being hit by a cement truck which earns him Rosa's gratitude and starts their friendship. I highly recommend this wonderful book by one of my favorite authors, Lyn Cote. I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.
Orobably cliser to 4.5 stars, this second book in the New Neighbors series is delightful. Marc and Rosa do a lot of growing in faith and changing over the course of the story, and the idea of dealing with false or exaggerated guilt is one I am sure many readers can relate to. Rosa's son Johnny, is a boy who is very well adjusted in general, but also exhibits very realistic, childlike reactions in times of stress. I can't wait to read the next one.
I received a free copy of this book from the author, but a review was not required and the views expressed in this review are my own.
Is it time for their tears to be over? This book starts off with a bang and Marc Chambers is one great guy I know Rosa thinks so. Yet as you read you know there is more to Marc and deep sorrow just reading the first few pages. This faith-based work is so good. It is not a long story but the characters are outstanding and realistic. I am so glad I read this book it put a smile on my face and happiness in my heart. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Rosa's Forever Home is a sweet, heartwarming, uplifting romance. Rosa and Mark are wonderful, troubled, realistic characters. I loved their hearts. Marc saves Rosa's son Johnny from being hit by a cement truck. They all work on Rosa's Habitat home. With dogs and meddling mothers and grandmothers, this book is brimming with something for everyone. The book is not long, but it is very complete with a perfect ending.
Mark is a loving man but he has a tragedy in his past that he has not gotten over. Rosa is raising a son alone. They both have to let God help them get over their pasts in order to move forward with each other. A very heart-warming story that I enjoyed. I received an ARC. This is my voluntary review.
I love Lyn Cote''s writings. Her stories easily flow and keeps one's interest. Guilt is a powerful, destroying ,hurtful emotion. It is easy to give to God and then take it back again. This story involved a single mom, a habitat house, and a stray dog that kept disappearing. Other issues were dealt with and developed well.
While like the other books in this series, this is a sweet read with familiar friends, a special dog and cute kids, this one has a bit more serious tone as Mark deals with PTSD after a serious car accident. I love Rosa's family and the connection they make with Mark's family. These two find themselves together no matter how much they try to stay apart. Again, this book focuses on a Habitat home being built.. here for Rosa.
This was a really cute read. I've been waiting for it to come to goodreads so I could add it to my read shelf! Lyn always does a great job of making a sweet story with lessons to learn along the way.
I received a complimentary copy from the author but was under no obligation to write a review.
This was a great story about overcoming our fears.
It showed how sometimes we hang on to times when life became difficult and we did not make the right choices. Sometimes we carry guilt when we shouldn't.
