Transgender cartoonist Sophie Labelle is back with a brand new comic book, in which her diverse characters, with their usual sass and wit, offer their comments and thoughts about the pandemic and its effects. For many of us, there are hardly any bright sides to the pandemic. However, it doesn't stop Sophie Labelle's comics from offering some relief, wisdom and perspective.
The unique transgender cartoonist, the author of Assigned Male. She is from Montreal, Quebec. She is active in the transgender rights movement and speaks on the subjects of trans history and transfeminism.
I had no idea this was only 30-something pages long when I picked it up so it literally took me like 5 minutes to read because each page is a four panel comic. And, like, it was FINE? But some of the comics felt a little...preachy? IDK. Maybe if I'd read it earlier in the pandemic, at the point where the majority of people were still willing to wear masks and social distance, I would have felt differently? IDK.
