She is already busy juggling her life, but now she's been roped into helping plan her high school reunion. Emma Clarke breaks up the solitude of life on her small farm outside of New Hope Falls by helping out at the florist shop in town. Except now she's on the reunion committee with people she'd never spent any time with in high school. Which would have been fine if it hadn't been for him also being part of the reunion committee.
An injury has derailed his career and put his future health in jeopardy, so after ten years away, he's come home to New Hope Falls.
Tanner MIkkelson never planned to return to the small town where he grew up. As star of the high school football team, he'd gone on to college fame which opened the door to a career as a professional quarterback. After several super successful years, his fame and fortune have grown enormously, but they are no protection against a hit that causes a serious concussion. With a history of concussions, he takes the advice of his doctors to retire from the sport.
As he contemplates his next move, Tanner finds himself fighting boredom in the small town he grew up in. When offered the chance to serve on the reunion committee, he jumps at it. While he's not exactly wanting to reconnect with all his classmates, there is one person he'd like to see again.
Emma may have at one time considered Tanner a friend--and possibly wished for something more--but that is no longer the case. She'd honestly hoped to never see him again. Harsh words he'd spoken to her back in high school had fractured their friendship irreparably, as far as Emma is concerned.
With his injury forcing him to reevaluate many things in his life, Tanner has to acknowledge that he treated Emma and their friendship badly. Top of his list upon return to New Hope Falls is to apologize and try to make things right with Emma. Too bad she really doesn't want to give him the time of day. He hopes that working on the reunion committee together will help, but she isn't making it easy.
Giving up and walking away is always an option, but Tanner finds he doesn't want to do that. Will Emma give him a chance for friendship--since that's still all he can offer her--even though last time he'd broken her heart? Emma isn't sure about opening the door for friendship because her feelings got involved the last time she did that. And falling in love with Tanner? Yeah, that's the last thing she wants.
It was a nice book and even though as the author said it was a similar premise, this particular plot has been written in various forms in a number of books. But this story is told in such a way that while reading, this looks like a complete new story and the characters helped the story in a huge way.
What i really liked is even though this is a romantic story, the main characters hugged on screen only twice but still managed to create that romance between them and kudos to the writer for that
I really enjoyed how love snuck up on the hero of this book, and how his attraction to the heroine was based on their amazing friendship and the beautiful person she was on the inside.
Emma runs a farm but also works part time in lani's flower shop (so she don't hide herself away on her farm) she also makes soaps and sells them at the flower shop and other places. She has not been in many books and only showed up when she worked for Taylor in the flower shop (see lani and micheals love story) Tanner is from this small town but been gone 10 years become famous in football.back in town and retired.
This is not a original storyline but is nice. um the ex girlfriend really kick her out she wanted his money don't give it to her.um was he living with her? He is Christian but had a house in New York and LA because his ex wanted them for a place to stay when visiting? Really he is ment to be Christian and not a Muppet.sale new York and buy a building in New hope for something good.don't give to glutton.it just felt stupid to me no one gives a ex girlfriend who was After his money a million dollar house in New York to live her her new Boyfriend and then she calls for more of course she does so take back all.
What happened to all his stuff in his other houses? He has furniture.
I'm so glad Emma got her own story. As always, Kimberly Rae Jordan's books are sweet and inspirational. I appreciated that she demonstrated the principle that, not only is it okay to not be okay, it's just as important to acknowledge that fact. Going along with the flow because someone expects you to isn't being honest to you or to them. I also love how Jordan explored what it really means to forgive someone. The main characters had a lot of growing to do in this book. Their tale will grab you by the heartstrings and have you rooting for them to work out their happy ending. Can't wait to read the next book
I absolutely adored this story! I loved reading about Emma in Lani & Leah's stories. Something about her just intrigued me from the start! I highly recommend any book that Kimberly Rae Jordan has written or will write in the future! She is a Christian author, and I have even enjoyed the mini-sermons she writes about and how they relate to not only the characters but in my life as well! Great job, Kimberly Rae Jordan!! Keep that writing... I'm running out of your books to read! Lol! Kudos!
Such a great read. Tanner hurt Emma when they were in school, even though they were friends. Tanner's life as a football player turned upside down when he sustained injuries from football. Back in New Hope Falls, he tried to mend his friendship with Emma while working together with her on their class reunion. This is a story about loss, forgiveness, and second chances and is a great reminder about trusting God.
The character descriptions were slightly vague (I.e., their physical appearance), but the story line was interesting. I've never heard of CTE, but the thought of it can be frightening--disturbing. Tanner and Emma had problems identifying their feelings for each other, but eventually they came to an understanding.
I always enjoy her books; they are like living the story. I like that it never lags or repeats things unnecessarily. It is more honest, less sugar sweet than some other books, which suits me fine. Yes, of course, the baby goats do it🥰 Can't wait for the next book in the series.
It’s amazing how things in our past affect our futures so strongly. Especially when you plan your future without God’s leading! Loss, forgiveness, and second chances are important themes in this story. Hang on for the ride, it won’t be easy. You will love this story and the characters. Can’t wait for book 9!,
This story gave me so much hope and lived the saying that if you spend time worrying about the future you rob yourself of the good of today!! I'm going through struggles with my husband who has a new diagnosis of Parkinson's disease and this story showed me again how God is in control!!
He hurts her on purpose and then couldn't forget her.
Sometimes one doesn't know love, doesn't recognize it, isn't ready for it, doesn't want it; until everything has been stripped away. This story really shows that God will not take you where he cannot keep you, but where he leads is worth going. Highly recommended for all readers.
This is another good addition to the New Hope Falls series. I think it is slower and more contemplative than some of the other books in the series. Jordan has some really good insights into dealing with loss, grief, forgiveness, and dealing with regrets.
Oh. My… Somewhere Along the Way is my new favorite New Hope Falls romance. Emma and Tanner’s story is incredible. No spoiler, but have tissues at the ready - the ending is that beautiful!
You can never go wrong with a Kimberly Rae Jordan book. The characters all have real life issues they need yo overcome. This book does not disappoint!poking forward your Josie's story!
These stories just get better and better as each stories brings more friends and families together. I love reading. I love journeying with you through God’s gift imbedded in you.
This is another great story from New Hope Falls. Emma and Tanner have a very interesting story. This is a very enjoyable and exciting book. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
While I genuinely like this author, her books, and especially this series, this book was WAY too drawn out. It literally kept going on and on with the (predictable) resolution taking up a very small portion at the end. You could probably skip the middle 90%.
I really enjoyed the story of Tanner and Emma. Tanner returns to New Hope Falls after a long time away in a prestigious position while Emma has stayed in the small town. I love the New Hope Falls books and wish I could live there!
I started the journey to Hope Falls not expecting much more than a story to take away from everyday life. I realized that each story was feeding my soul with joy and making me think. Heated till book 8to leave a review but would have given each book 5 stars.
It was so great to read a Christ centered story with a couple facing the possibility of such a tough future together!!! As someone impacted with a similar prognosis and who had similar consideration before getting married, I love this!
Although this book was lighter on romance than some of the others in the series, it was still a good read. Kimberly is probably my favorite author right now. If you haven't read her books, check them out; you won't be disappointed.
I enjoyed reading this book. The characters were great. Best friends who fall in love make great marriage partners. I know because my husband is my best friend.
Such a good heartwarming story. The ups and downs of these two characters was amazing and I love how God came in to their lives! Good book and a great series!!
Another wonderful book in the series dealing with sensitive issues but most of all the reminder to let tomorrow’s worries stay in the future and to enjoy today even with its challenges
I really enjoyed this book, it was easy to relate to the characters. Definitely a book to read if you like small town romance and happy endings. Easy to read but very well written.
