A mobster rescued me, and I rescued him right back.
I should never have approached Remington's car. I knew he was dangerous, but he needed help and I was sure he could pay well for it.
When he offers me an astronomical sum to stay with him for two weeks, I can't say no. Even then, I know when our time is up, I'll wish we had forever.
Remington cares for me like no man ever has, and I can’t help falling for him. But how could a crime boss be my Prince Charming or give me the fairytale happily ever after I’ve always dreamed of?

This was cute. Kind of between my 4.5 star read and my uh...1 star read of this author.
I liked Remington and Henri together, and the sex between them was really hot, the chemistry fairly well done.
I liked how possessive Remington became over Henri, I loved how he'd fuck up anyone who hurt or touched him, I loved how obsessed they became with each other and so quickly.
I just...I guess, for a mafia book it felt a little bit...light? A little bit of a fluffy version of it? It didn't feel that dark.
Remington was like...a model example of a mafia don. By that I mean he would kill if he had to, would kill men who deserved it, but he didn't otherwise.
And the more dark, gruesome parts of being in the mafia were just...never really shown? Remington kills one guy on page that we see and it's super quick.
And like sure, he doesn't hesitate to do it, and he does it to save Henri and it's wonderful because of that, but just...the violence and gore and darkness you expect from the Mafia world was largely absent from this.
Even Remington's father is largely a good guy, and is mostly retired now and living life with his wife and he never feels scary or demanding at all. Even the few times he does get a little more "hard." Like Remington tells us he can be cold and hard when he needs to be, but we never get to see it.
Remington himself, while we get to see the most with him, doesn't ever go too far, really. Even when Henri disobeys him, his punishment to Henri is sexual in nature and more pleasurable than not. Which is fine, and I don't want him abusing Henri or anything. But he could like...put him in a cock cage or made sure he couldn't leave the house for a number of days or so, something a little more *actual* punishment you'd expect from a mob boss, ya know?
Although, yes, what came of the 'punishment' was hot and sexy and it does get points for that. It just wasn't very punishment-y.
This felt, at times, almost fluffy and for a mafia book that just is...odd haha.
We didn't get to see Remington really be a 'bad guy who only softens for this one person' kind of thing. Yeah, overall, he's not a good guy, but he wasn't a bad guy either, I'd say. He's a criminal who can do what's necessary, but isn't actually all that fucked in the head.
It just feels like a guy like that wouldn't last long as the boss of the mafia, ya know? But Remington might do more off page to assert his place as the top dog, but we, the reader, don't really get to see it.
It was more like this was a sweet romance with a fun possessive element that just happened to have some mafia stuff in it. Not a Mafia Romance, if that makes sense?
So, I couldn't give this 4 stars, which I would have given it for a lot of the romance and sexy times between these two alone, but it just really fell short on the actual mafia part. It felt like a light hearted version of the mafia, if that can compute in your mind, because it shouldn't haha.
But like, Remington's brother's are quirky, fun guys - one has a monkey he's very attached to lol - and aren't remotely scary, no one is. Like, they're all doing illegal stuff but they don't feel bad ass and scary and like they could fuck you up.
Even though we literally get Remington snapping a guy's neck to save Henri...I didn't feel the menace or badass-ery.
It also was a little rushed. The climax was super rushed, imo, and it was all handled super easily and quickly.
And also Remington and Henri were rushed. Not even a full 2 weeks goes by, they're saying 'I love you.' Then a super contrived event happens to break them apart for 2 more weeks - although we don't have to go through any of that separation except for like a chapter or so, really - and then they're together again and 2 more weeks go by and then they get engaged. So, this all happens within 6 weeks.
Super quick, and they're even talking about starting the process for adoption soon too and it's like woah wait, I'm just reading this and it's too fast for me lol.
So this had elements to enjoy, but it was like a pale imitation of a Mafia Romance more than an actual Mafia Romance.
For the romance and chemistry and characters alone, I give this 3 stars, which is an improvement on the 1 star I gave another read from this author. But also, not as good as the 4.5 star read I gave another book of hers.
So, I feel like I'll give this author a chance in the future just because this did better than the 1 star read and kept my interest and had me enjoying our MC. But there could have been definite improvements added to make this a 5 star read, for sure.
So, in the end, it's a middle of the road rating for me. Had potential, but didn't 100% follow through.
When you wanna read a mob romance and know it’ll be corny and cheesy, but sometimes that’s what the day calls for, look no further that this book!
Haha Henri and Remy were quite the pair, with Remy taking over the family business from his father and Henri being an innocent virgin rent boy who is in an alley at the…. idk if I’d call it at the wrong time since he got to go in to a powerful family…I mean what other typical tropes would you want from a middle of the road mob book haha
I will say Lance with his monkey Tony were a great comedic relief but unfortunately he’s book three, next book is spoiled younger brother Corbin and Ex con mechanic Beau!
I listened to this as an audiobook and Michael Dean was excellent as always. My first real mm romance was Professional Distance by Silvia Violet. I loved it so I’m surprised I haven’t read more of her books. I certainly look forward to reading Corbin’s story. I was really drawn in to Remington and Henri story. I love power tough dominant man who has a soft spot for his sweet submissive. This story was very hot. The only thing that kept it from being a five star book was the inevitable break up scene right before the end of the book. I was ready to knock off two stars from utter frustration. I gave back a star for how well she brought the story back on track.
Hmmmm. Where do I start?... this felt very Lucien 2.0... and the movie Pretty Woman had a baby.. and the book baby was Remington .
Remington and Henri had scorching chemistry...which probably saved it from a DNF. Some of the dialogue was a bit cheesy or trying to hard but I still think this series might be good.
The audiobooks might be better. Michael Dean will put his sexy spin on the characters. I’ll just wait for those instead of reading the rest of these 🤔🤔
In the very beginning, we have Remington doing some recon in an enemy’s territory when he gets into a car accident. Henri, who is working the streets, offers to help.
I genuinely hated how Remington used Henri’s uh, services, right then and there. He noticed Henri’s fear, and although Henri offered his services out of desperation, I didn’t think Remington should have taken him up on it.
Remington forcing his huge cock down Henri’s throat despite Henri’s hesitation while they waited for a tow truck was extremely off putting. It set the tone for who Remington was as a character and I must say, he did not come across as likable.
Then Remington forces Henri to go home with him because he might run his mouth about him being in the area to the wrong people. The whole thing was absolutely ridiculous.
Remington coercing Henri into giving him his virginity too was icky and unsettling. If someone doesn’t want to do something, but you bribe them with money and also make it clear that they have no choice anyway so they have to agree, that’s not consent.
And then when Remington does take his virginity, literally the same night that Henri reluctantly agrees to the arrangement, he is not even gentle. It really fucking pissed me off how rough he was with Henri despite Henri making it painfully obvious (both verbally and nonverbally) how scared and nervous and uncomfortable he was.
Look, I like a possessive alpha male just as much as the next guy, but I do prefer them to have actual feelings.
The beginning of the book threw me off for the rest. Remington was cold and uncaring. He didn’t care about anything or anyone but himself. Sure, in his POV he says how Henri is affecting him in the beginning, but we never see it. The sex is emotionless, unless you consider lust, and even then it feels one-sided at times.
I like the alpha male trope enough, but I also like to read sex scenes that don’t feel like rape.
I felt like this book couldn't really decide if it wanted to be a dark romance or not, and it kind of awkwardly straddled the line with Remington sometimes being coercive and forceful and sometimes sweet and sappy. The romance was okay, although very insta, but the mafia plot was weak and the ending was very predictable. I've only read one previous book in this universe and this read fine without having read all the other books, but it did commit the cardinal sin of having part of the epilogue be from the POV of the MC of the next book (just make that a preview instead of having it be part of this book!).
It's weirdly similar from another book that I read from her "cough "cough" Lucien. Something I need at the moment to be honest Possessive love interest, helpless main character with predictable plot.

THOUGHTS I liked more than I hoped. I love Remi. Idk why how and when that happened but I love him.
Liked this a lot!! Interesting characters loved their personalities!! Love how we also have interesting dice characters which are kinda crossovers from (connected) series by the same author!
Hot sexy scenes but still enough plot 👏🏼 the dialoge towards ending felt a bit rushed / predictable but that’s okay! The epilogue made 100% up for it haha IF WAS ADORBS 🥺💕
I really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to read the others (and the other series lol I actually wanted to do that as soon as I discovered that there were connected series which came out before this one! Buttt the book and characters were too interesting to put down 😂 so I’ll get to that now 💪🏼)
this started in the most amazing way and i was super excited but then it became kind of bland. if you start with super possessiveness and craziness i want that till the end, but sadly things calmed down.
apparently there are more series in this universe and i think i’m reading this wrong but i honestly don’t care🥹.
Remington is a great book with lots of spice, fluff and action which captivates your attention from the start. Normally in the mafia/mob genre it’s mostly just vicious violence but in this book you get a bit of everything which I really liked. My only complaint would have to be how Remington behaves in the beginning which put me off him right up until he started to soften out half way through.
I like these kind of series Silvia offered us with the over protectives alphas from the other side of law. Meeting Henri in one unfortunate situation, didn't make Remy seeing Henri as an object of his desire after sometimes of denials. I liked their dynamic, even Remy is one of the most feared boss, surely Henri never feared him. What happened to Henri later, proved that they did made to be together. This is sweet with a twist. I liked this one.
This was the first book in a new series that spins off from the Marchesi and Vigilance series. Remington Theroit is the strong, sexy, confident son about to take the reigns over from his father. Remy meets Henri one night while Henri is out on the streets to make some money. Henri has had a rough time in life the past year or so and had to do whatever he could to survive. With a very strong Pretty Woman vibe, meeting Remy changes Henri's life. At first their connection is pure heat and fire in the bedroom...it is smoking hot! Then they start to get to know each other more and spend time together outside the bedroom. Remy is a sweetheart underneath his mobster exterior and he treats Henri like a prince! Their time together was really sweet with a nice HEA! While I enjoyed meeting a new mobster family, a lot of this book felt repetitive to me from the previous two series. I really liked Lance and Corbin and am excited to get both their stories and hoping for something a little different to make them stand out.
This book was everything I never knew I needed. I loved it so much! I loved the new family and new setting. I enjoyed the newly introduced characters as well as ones from previous books and I was excited to see Tony, Lance's monkey, again! This story was very Pretty Woman-esque and it was very well done. Henri and Remy were absolutely adorable and also incredibly hot. So hot. Like wow! There was the perfect amount of excitement in this book to keep in on par with the Marchesi and Vigilance books and I can't wait for the next book!
Almost every time I read one of Silvia Violet's books I want to give it more stars than I have to give. Remington and Henri are hot as fire and sweet as any tea you're likely to find in New Orleans. I love how protective of each other they are, even when they're not particularly happy with each other at that moment. It's a fantastic start to the Theriot series.
This book went from 0 to 100 real quick. Maybe if their relationship started out more as “this is an innocent I have to protect” vs “sex with a stranger I’m suddenly infatuated with” I would have been able to suspend my disbelief a little bit more but it was a struggle. The weirdest part was that this didn’t read as a story. It felt more like an outline of ideas and concepts that the author wanted to expand upon later.
One word - hot! Two words - hot, hot! Three words - Hot, Hot, Hot!
Ok, something with brain cells included - This spinoff of the spinoff was very much like other books in previous series. We have instalove, big possessive alpha and shy gentle submissive. A lot of mobster-ing, sweet words and unconditional love. There is nothing not to love!
Great start to a series with some exciting and interesting characters that are looking for parts in future books. Wonderful chemistry between the H & h , some really tense moments and very moody scenes. There wasn’t very much not to like tbh. Look forward to more.
3.5 ⭐️ it’s a pretty enjoyable book, an easy read. The book focuses on the relationship between Remington and Henry (I wish he was named differently, no disrespect to all the Henrys) and on the mafia plot. I liked how easy it was to read the book. Honestly my favorite characters were Lance and Tony, I can’t wait for his book, I wanna see him loved by someone who deserves him 🥰 The reason I gave 3.5 stars is because this felt a bit like a wattpad book, which is not an insult (I am a wattpad bitch through and through) it’s just that I was expecting more. The epilogue (or last chapter) was extremely rushed, like I had a whiplash kind of rushed. Though the chemistry between Remy and Henry was pretty strong, I wish the steamy scenes were a bit better described. But honestly all in all, I really enjoyed it, finished it in one sitting, and I am definitely starting the next book right after.
Henry definitely took a brave and bold step when he did what he did, and it was even braver to approach Remington. I thought that he was just such a nice guy, and he was definitely going to do what he needed to.
Remington was a nice guy, for a mobster, at least. He's under a lot of pressure, and I can understand why he feels like he's under so much pressure. Henry is so good for him, though.
This book hit me with some awesome Pretty Woman vibes. Of course these vibes also included a mafia twist and is set in New Orleans but what’s not to love about any of that? I love the Theriot family. They know how to put family first and love with all they have. Remy, who definitely has giving orders down pat but is so fun to witness, is no exception. He’s understandably taken with sweet, shy Henri from the first, who’s a balm and brings calm to Remy’s chaotic life. I’d want to snuggle him all day too, but let’s not forget the heat these two generate. “What I really wanted—crazy as it might sound—was to be the only one to ever have him. I wanted to keep him.” *fans self* They burned through the pages and it was yummy. I loved the action and the danger but it’s the softness and openness these two have and how the whole world disappears for them that made my heart full. So bring on the King cake and let the good times continue!
Mafia MM romance that's mostly smut built around a storyline, like p0rn but there are cute moments. The couple DOES have a bit of cute scenes where they walk around and get to know each other.
TROPES There is little to no angst. mafia Captured hero Lots of smut
