Riv’s Sanctuary #3

Ka'Cit's Haven

Rate this book
“Not the best of ways to introduce myself to you…A gentleman would have at least greeted you first…
… but I’m no gentleman.”

He’s the Bone Crusher. A man in a mask.

His face is hidden alongside his intentions.

He doesn’t do things for free…or to be nice.

So just how did Nia end up stuck on a ship with him by her side?

She’d wanted adventure, but Ka’Cit Urgmental was SO. MUCH. MORE.

It’s obvious he’s only come to help her get back to the Sanctuary.

That's all.

BUT…when he starts looking at her as if she’s meant to be in his arms, in his bed…his, it soon becomes clear that things aren’t that simple.

That mask he wears? His face isn’t the only thing it hides.

It’s a metal shield veiling more than she could have ever imagined…

Whether what’s underneath will break them apart or pull them together, that is another question.

Ka’Cit’s Haven is a full-length sci-fi romance with an independent heroine and a tortured hero. If you love action-filled adventure, scenes that pull at your heartstrings, and steamy romance, this is the book for you. Grab a copy of Ka’Cit’s Haven today!

No cheating, no cliffhanger, and a happily ever after guaranteed <3

Seriously- all the yes for this kickass couple!

Loved Ka’Cit and Nia’s action filled-but oh so tender romance. Plus kudos for both of them being serious badasses. Also, also- love me a man in a mask.

Possibly longer RTC later.

I absolutely loved KaCit’s story, and I am so glad the author gave him a HEA he deserved. Another great tale, action aplenty, but a real little gem that will pull at your heart strings.

This could have even been a surprising 4 star, if not for the badly done, stupid 80 % break up, that wasn‘t even simple miscommunication, it was no communication at all and pissed me right off. Felt also absolutely out of character for the FMC who had shown some backbone till then.

Right up to that point it was entertaining and fun, not without flaws but interesting.

Hard eye-roll moment, when she did get pregnant after all and let all the drama be for nothing. Them being adoptive parents would haben been a perfectly good ending, without some unexplained miracle cheesiness and would have dealt with infertility in romance books in a great way. Missed opportunity.

Quick(ish) Review 3.5 stars

This is a very sweet way to wrap up the Sanctuary series. I’m only downgrading it because of a very particular issue that may not bother others. Basically I loved Ka’Cit and Nia together, it had good action and good chemistry between the MCs. I just can’t get down with fertility issues in my romance because it hits too close to home, especially miracle endings. But otherwise I really did think they were great and if you don’t have those issues, you may really enjoy this SF romance.

I quite liked Ka’Cit as a MC with his dichotomy of badassness and abysmal self-esteem. Nia was also interesting; friendly, confident in her skills, and low on communication skills. I thought the fast burn aspect was an odd choice for a character as traumatized as he was and it kind of took me out of the story.

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: kidnapping, captivity, murder, violence, gore, discussion of child abandonment, claustrophobia, threat of SA, sexual harassment, trafficking, infertility

This was such a great conclusion to this alien romance series!!

You have met Nia in the past books in this series, & this is her romance with the alien Ka'Cit. Nia gets accidentally kidnapped by some aliens and Ka'Cit goes to rescue her. There is way more going on in this one, but I don't want to spoil anything!:)

TW: kidnapping, death, murder, attempted SA, previous childhood abandonment, claustrophobia

TROPES: alien romance, caretaking scene (Nia has a panic attack), damaged hero, language barrier, savior, warrior woman

Ka'cit was a big sweetie. I thought it was kind how he automatically intervened to save Nia without even knowing her. Nia was also very likable. However...

spoilers ahead

I thought Nia was a dumbass at the end when she went to rescue Ka'cit by herself in an alien city she knew nothing about. Why would she purposely not ask for help from the aliens who are her friends and protectors and lived there? She didn't know the culture, the city, and she was physically weaker than the super strong aliens. Yeh, she had a gun but who would charge into a stronghold by themselves? She not only put herself at risk but she also put Ka'cit. It didn't make any sense. Also why didn't she kill Herza? Herza trafficked slaves. She was going to sell Nia. She captured Ka'cit and was going to take him somewhere to be tortured and killed. Wtf

Oh well. I love the author and the series so will definitely read the next book that comes out

Ka'Cit's Haven is the third sci-fi book in the fun Riv's Sanctuary series by AG Wilde. Kidnapped twice she can't believe her luck but no one is coming for her because they don't know where she is. When he sees her he knows he has to help and when he does they find something they thought would never be possible, and that is a connection with each other in the face of uncertainty and danger.

This romance tale has a little tension, drama, angst, danger, suspense, and a bit of wit. It made my heart ache, and had me laughing at times. Ka'Cit's Haven is an enjoyable read and a series that should not be missed.

This book made me ugly cry. KaCit and Nia were so amazing together and apart. Stubborn Ka’Cit made my heart ache for him over the course of the book and I was so happy that he had Nia who was the epitome and a sweet and gentle soul. She was patient and to use her own word, pretty badass too. It was impossible not to fall in love with the two of them. *happy squeal*

I’m so mad that I never got to see Ka’Cit’s reaction to her news in the epilogue because I just know he would have lost his mind. I wanted to see that. My heart. Hopefully, we get to see more of them in upcoming books in this series.

Really enjoyed this cute story.

This is the third and final book in the series and I loved it. No question it's another five star read.
Nia, our heroine has been mentioned in the previous books, She's another woman stolen from Ezrth and then rescued, she's been staying at Rivs sanctuary.

Ka'Cit is a friend and neighbor of Rivs and has also made brief appearances in the previous books. He's rather a mysterious character. Nia is in town one day with her friends and gets swept away by a group and forced into a space ship. Ka"Cit seems what happens and rushes to her rescue, whereupon the two of them have quite the adventure. I love Ka"Cit. He's quite a swashbuckling character, full of adventures. Yet he has a sad and lonely life but hides it well.

Nia is a most excellent heroine. She's brave and resourceful and thinks on her feet. She and Ka"Cit are perfect for each other.
This book, like the others is great storytelling and also like the others very addicting and hard to put down. This is a great alien romance and I highly recommend the series.

The first book is still my fave but this was good. once I was able to sit and read it. I got two chapters in a month ago and then something came up and I didn't get back to it for a while. I started over because I like having flow. It was interesting and had more action and that was not bad because these two were not the sit-at-home and do-nothing type of people. they were get out there and change crap kind. and this story reflected that. the only thing that had me hanging back from a higher rating (not that 4 stars is not a perfectly acceptable rating) was the ending. it felt rushed and in a direction I never thought it would go. I expected many years of traveling the world carrying out missions together but it went another way. Not bad, and I am truly happy for them, but at the same time it seems odd because everything so far had led us to believe one way and at the very end it veered. All the same, it was a great read.

Might be my favourite in this series

I love scifi/alien romance but it's rare to find a leading lady who isn't white, so for me this book felt like a treat. It didn't obsess over her colour but didn't ignore the practicalities either e.g. I love that A.G. built in a little time for her to wash and braid for her hair, cause that always takes some time but it's gotta be done. I love how united they were for their cause, even if Ka'Cit needed Nia to 'educate' him at the end * grin * This book is a real adventure where the relationship develops as they rely on each other to make it through. I love it when there's a real partnership and adventure, not just a series of contrived misunderstandings. And I didn't know about The Restitution til V'alen so that opens up a whole new world for me. Oh yes, I'm so very in!

Home isn't a place

Nia has been kidnapped, bought, sold and changed owners so many times it's no longer amusing. Then she was rescued by Sir Grump and dumped at the Sanctuary. Life on the farm has been good. Not great, sleeping is hard when you're the 5th wheel to 2 couples who get busy frequently, but at least she has chores to keep her busy. Agreeing to go the the exchange was probably foolish, being an unregistered alien, but she can't let Lauren carry all the stuff all pregnant and all. But a horde of similarly caped aliens sweep her away into a merchant ship. Sadly, not one selling soap, but rather guns and people. Escape isn't new, she's done this before. But then Ka'Cit shows up. Riv's neighbor? What's he doing off his farm and on this merchant ship?

Spoilers ahead.
So. After reading the Sanctuary series I've been waiting for his book. I've been dying to know why the mask. And... I have to say, not for the reason I thought. At all. Not even my 2nd or 3rd guesses were correct lol. And I won't spoil it because it has to do with something in the epilogue. Out of all Wilde's books I have to say her Sanctuary series is the best, and of those, this is the best in that series. Nia is quiet but determined, a warrior in her own right, a great shot, willing to help out where she's needed and will go the distance to save others. And herself. There's no focus on the evil Ts, whose depravity makes no sense. I'm a little confused about the language upload, though. Isn't there already one? Because in book 1 they got it. Sohut got one. Not sure if the helpful Ts from book 2 got a language upload but they sure were suddenly able to understand her. So, Ka'Cit uploading English baffled me a bit. But, otherwise this was a fun continuation of the series. I'm curious if there will be more books on it. The epilogue hints at how the cast will grow, tying into another series.

Great read

Ka’Cit’s Haven has it all: action and violence, steamy encounters, evil alien villains, a sexy yet vulnerable alien male, and a lonely human female.

Ka’Cit is a tough guy whose mask hides the reason he believes himself unworthy of affection. Nia is a woman surrounded by love but yearning for someone she can call her own. When these two are thrown together, they discover love is deeper than a being’s physical characteristics and self-worth isn’t determined by others.

I highly recommend this book!

This is a pretty fun installment in the series. I love a heroine who can kick ass! This relationship unfolds really well, the plot is solid, and the adventure is awesome! He rescues her and she rescued him! Really enjoyed it. Great job, author!

My only gripe is that story ends with the requisite miracle. Adoption is great and pregnancy doesn’t have to come to everyone! I almost thought the author was going to let this book end without the miracle baby but nope.

This book gave me ALL the feels!! I love the authors writing style, and I never found myself bored by the story line. I’m a sucker for smoldering love scenes between the main characters and this book did not disappoint. I’m also a sucker for a bad ass chick along side a bad ass dude. If you’re thinking about reading this one - stop and just do it!

Two beings that are perfect for each other found love when they believed they never would. Action packed sci-fi romance. 4.5 Stars.

Note to author: I really wanted to see how the adoption process went. And I feel like I was robbed from witnessing Nia’s confession about her little secret.

Not as good as the first one, but it’s still a 5 ⭐️ read for me.
These two were such a badass couple. They complimented each other so well!
I think my favorite part was when Ka’Cit sees Nia shooting the bad guys and doing a very good job. ☺️ I think he fell in love with her at that moment.

LOVED IT!

I couldn’t get enough! It was one of the best books I’ve read and I would definitely recommend it to anyone and everyone. KaCit is such a beautiful man hard on the outside and soft and warm on the inside. Neeya is a fierce female heroine. This book had me from the first page. I loved that the author made the female lead a black girl! I can’t for the author to continue this book 🖤

What a great series. Ka'cit has been an intriguing figure in this series since the moment he disabled all of the guards sent to track down Lauren in the first book. His nonchalent 'oops' when he was told that's not what Riv meant by 'distract them' had me hooked. I knew he was gonna be a fun story and Wilde did not disappoint.

Ka'cit is not a farmer, he is a bit of a mercenary- he inspires fear and respect where he goes because he is good at what he does and others know it. Nia found herself abducted and was saved when she was dropped off at Riv's sanctuary. But unlike Lauren and Cleo, she doesn't quite enjoy the off-the-grid life. When a trip to the market turns dangerous as she's swept away in a crowd, it's just by luck that Ka'cit happens to be there to hear her- and plan a rescue. But Nia holds a few tricks of her own. She's able to escape her cell but not before the ship takes off and now she has to rely on Ka'cit to find a way out.

The hits:

-Nia. what a badass! a sharpshooter, she doesn't wimper or recoil from doing what needs to be done to save her life. I love love loved the awe Ka'cit had when he realized she wasn't just managing her gun, she was GOOD with it. They were partners in crime. very bonnie and clyde. but for the greater good.
-Ka'cit. mmm I loved him. His vulnerabilty with Nia, his protectiveness, his own badassery, everything. That chase scene in the bedroom? still has my heart fluttering. There's something to be said for when a male instinctually knows his mate and chases her down (playfully & with consent) & the way he's dangerous with everyone else except her is just 100% gold.
-Their relationship felt more real. They already knew each other (albeit briefly) and spent a lot of time together being partners in crime before the attraction really set in. The progression of acquaintences to rescuers to partners to lovers felt much more natural than in previous books.

The flop:

-The main antagonist of all the books is the over-lord type of alien species that abducts females (esp humans) to rape and force to carry their spawn. Humans are not a protected class since most don't even realize Earth has any intelligent life, so the girls have to find sponsers to earn their freedom while running and hiding from these aliens who would legally be able to force them back as their slaves since they have no rights. ok awful right? luckily our girls find their mates and get their freedom, but there is no justice or resolve by the end of the series.

These aliens are STILL are abducting humans and raping them.
There's STILL no plan or outline to protect humans or classify earth as a protected planet.
There's STILL no easy way for human abductees to obtain legal status, so they can be easily kidnapped again and have no legal rights to freedom even if they get rescued.

I just feel like seeing humans become a protected species would have made this series into a 5 star review for me. I like to see closure in my series and leaving a huge gaping whole for literally an entire species just because the 3 heroines are living their HEA seems cruel.

All in all, I loved this book and the series was surprisingly awesome. Easy read, HEA, steamy scenes abound, mates, shifter-like romance. great for paranormal romance fans.

I really loved this book! Now, I’m not even going to lie — I accidentally started with book three without realizing it. I just saw a Black girl on the cover and was like, yep, I’m reading this! And honestly, I’m so glad I did.

What I really appreciate is how A.G. Wilde took the time to write Nia’s character. It didn’t feel forced, like "here’s representation just to check a box." It felt natural like Nia was just a real person in this sci-fi world. I also loved that her being Black wasn’t her whole personality — she was just a woman living her story, not a woman carrying every "Black issue" on her back, which is something I’ve noticed some authors struggle with when trying to make a black woman their MC. Like, not everything has to be about Black trauma. Sometimes, we just want to be the main character in a good story, and that’s exactly what this felt like.

Nia was a strong female lead, but it wasn’t because she was Black — she was strong because that’s who she was. And I really respect how the author did that.

Also, let’s be real — the smut was amazing! The scenes were well-written and actually felt like they belonged in the story, not just thrown in for no reason. I loved Ka'Cit as a character. He was everything — protective, thoughtful, and just an all-around great partner for Nia.

The performance in the audiobook was top-tier. Holly Jackson did such a good job! I loved the accent she gave Ka' Cit — it was perfect. And I appreciate that she didn’t try to overdo Nia’s voice or use AAVE in a forced way. She gave both characters life in a very respectful and real way.

Overall, this was a really well-written story that pulled me in from start to finish. I’m definitely going back to read the first two books now because if this one was that good, I know the others will be too. I also hope to see more Si-Fi romance books like this!

4.00 Stars. (BW/Blue skinned-green eyed-fanged-long tailed alien) Audiobook borrowed from local library via Hoopla-listened to at 1.70 speed.

Setting: Futurstric time/ Alien science fiction. Hudo III, a planet with a pink daytime sky, clouds that look like cotton candy and surface plants that are orange.

Trope: Human/ Alien romance. Interplanetary existence.

Main characters:
1. Nia, heroine, is a human nurse, sharpshooter and illegal resident of Hudo III.
2. Ka'Cit Urgenmental, the Bone Crusher and hero, is a wealthy Messi who trades items on the black intergalactic market. Ka'Cit is hairless and wears a mask because hairless Messi are shunned and unable to have mates because they can not bear children.

This is a well written interesting story with lots of action and a believable romance between Nia and Ka'Cit, the protagonists. Nia is a single un sponsored and unmated female on the Santurary in Hudo III. Nia is lonely and fearful due to her illegal status but she likes the planet, it animal life and being near her friends. On an outing with one of her pregnant friends and her mate, Nia gets separated from them and is captured and threatened with the possible of being sexually abused and sold to human traffickers. Enter Ka'Cit...he and Nia fight their way off this vessel, make a connection and enter into a romantic relationship. After the 3rd act separation, due to a failure to communicate, Nia recuses Ka'Cit and they settle down in a relationship. Nia is pregnant with Ka'Cit's child. The story ends with Nia and Ka'Cit adopting a child without Nia telling him that she is pregnant. This is an enjoyable read. Want to read the book where Nia lets Ka'Cit know he has sired a child with her, his mate.

I have quite enjoyed the human women who have ended up at the sanctuary (regardless of how they came to be there) and Nia's story is no exception. While she might not be as thrilled as Lauren and Cleo with her circumstances (mostly because the other two have acquired significant others after their adventures), she's working on coming to terms with it. And by that, I mean she basically works and works and works to keep herself busy so she doesn't have to think about how she was abducted from earth and all that.

A case of mistaken identity (which turned BAD fast) and Ka'Cit being in the right place at the right time gives Nia an adventure of her own. One involving cargo captains involved in shady business (grr), some sexy times with Ka'Cit, some first-person-shooter variety shenanigans, and Nia finding her groove beside the big, blue guy.

Because sometimes you have to shoot your way out of a dangerous situation to hit your stride.

On Ka'Cit's end, he has a a teeny, tiny bit of baggage he needs to deal with. His differences from others of his kind (and how his society treats those like him) has him CERTAIN someone like Nia could never want to tie herself to someone like him. Fortunately for him, Nia being human means she doesn't give two hoots about that particular thing. Convincing him of that is a little more complicated, but she gets there. Eventually.

Aliens, shoot outs, and steamy kisses. Good stuff all around.

I enjoyed this book the most of this series. Lots of action and good chemistry between the FMC and MMC. The FMC is brave and not afraid to take charge. The MMC is a tortured hero, flawed and formidable. The things the MMC does for the FMC to keep her safe, to allow her to be heard. Such grand gestures! And the spice is spicy!! I would have preferred to learn about the FMC's abduction and her past in a better way...flashbacks during the panic attack or something. Instead she just calmly tells the MMC about it later in the book, and it doesn't have the impact it could have. Also...we have the 3rd act break up. Meh. But I AM happy that the day wasn't saved by filing paperwork, like the other two books. LOL. A few things didn't make sense...how the MMC was so wealthy, why he does all of his bounty hunting for free, and this thing with having to give away half of your wealth to register someone as a protected refugee. Anyway, i won't let it keep me up at night. The audiobook narration was good. Read by a woman, good accent for the MMC. A fun and entertaining alien romance read!

4 & 1\2 fabulous🌟's for Ka'Cit's Haven

A.G. Wilde is one of my favorite authors. Her books never disappoint and her characters have depth and her storylines are well thought out and compelling! This is the 3rd book in Riv's Sanctuary and possibly my favorite. Ka'Cit shunned and abandoned by his family and his people because of his differences built a life for himself through intelligence, strength and Perseverance. When he see Nia the other human female at Riv's sanctuary being swept up by some shady aliens he follows and tries to rescue her. He finds out very fast how well Nia can not only help herself but what a great partner she truly is. Nia she's happy to be free and at the sanctuary, but she feels like a third wheel with the other two females who now have mates. She's lonely but doesn't see a solution. Until the day she's goes to the exchange with the others and ends up alien napped and then rescued by Riv's friend ,Ka'Cit. Together they embark on an adventure to save some other humans in space and realize they have Korrin common than they thought and make terrific partners as well as Soul mates! Highly recommend🔥💖🌟💖🔥🌟🔥💖🌟💖🔥🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟💖🔥🌟🔥💖🌟🔥💖🌟🔥
