One Hundred Very Short Stories: Up to 3 Minutes Read Each

Rate this book
Each flash fiction takes no more than 3 minutes to read; many take less than a minute. There is something for history; mystery; mythology; family life and love; horror; humour; uplifting stories; tear-jerkers; business snippets; politics; and thrillers.-An eclectic mix of witty and amusing stories. With his short little snapshots, Alagan takes a prod at the simmering, self-obsessed underbelly of society, not only present day but also as far back as prehistoric times. It seems that the moral fibre of humanity hasn’t travelled very far in all that time. This diverse collection of insightful stories provides a commentary on humanity over the past few thousand years, including the young and the old, all genders, races and beliefs, and in diverse global locations, including hell itself. So, okay, there is a bit of fantasy and paranormal thrown into the mix for good measure.Thoroughly recommended.- Karen Court (Author of The Doctor), Australia. Goodreads

An eclectic mix of witty and amusing stories

With his short little snapshots, Alagan takes a prod at the simmering, self-obsessed underbelly of society, not only present day but also as far back as prehistoric times. It seems that the moral fibre of humanity hasn’t travelled very far in all that time.

This diverse collection of insightful stories provides a commentary on humanity over the past few thousand years, including the young and the old, all genders, races and beliefs, and in diverse global locations, including hell itself. So, okay, there is a bit of fantasy and paranormal thrown into the mix for good measure.

Thoroughly recommended.

🔻 Genre: Flash fiction stories.
👁 Point of view: Various.
🖊 My review: Out of these one hundred flash fiction stories, three made it to my “best” list:
“Rich Unhappy Family,” “Eating Chicken,” and “Lip Service.” The title of “Eating Chicken” is the most clever play on words in the book. It was surprising to me how quickly I read this book.
🔥 Dénouement: n/a

🔲 Excerpt :
🔸 It was 1960s Singapore, and Lim’s daily chores included tending the hundred odd chicken in his family’s wooded backyard. After school, Lim would have a quick lunch and spend most of the afternoon in the fenced in farm where the chicken ranged free. [from “Eating Chicken”]

🖋 The writing style: Flows smoothly.
💫 What I like best: The shortness of each story.
📌 Would I read this again? Maybe.
🤔 My rating 🌟🌟🌟
◼️ Fun fact: This is a quick book to read.
🏮Media form: Kindle Unlimited version.

This book of stories is, to say the least, unusual. The stories bettered themselves as the book went on as though the book was not a collection of stories written, but more of a writing exercise. I stuck with the book until the end, mostly because if I commit to a book, I will read it through. Many of the stories were of a strange nature and others were interesting with a somewhat of a statement to make. I cannot say that I am better having read it, but I cannot say that about most of today's literature. If you want something different and a quick read, you might try it.

Some Thought Provoking Stories and Some that Make No Sense

I enjoyed about sixty percent of these stories, as they made me think how the story could end. A great deal of them were nonsensical and very absurd. I gave it three stars based on my enjoyment of 60% of them. It was free for me on my Kindle Unlimited Subscription but if I had paid for it I would have been sorely disappointed.

somewhat disappointing

No false advertising here… there were 100 stories and they were short.
Problem is not many of them were all that entertaining. A few were,
True. But most were simply … short.

That’s not to say I wasn’t entertained. It’s just that I was expecting more.

Great Reads in No Time

Enjoyed most every quick tale. They were mixed in genre enough to keep you guessing, and entertaining enjoy to anxiously await the next story. Would recommend to family and friends eagerly!
