I’ve fallen in love with a man who will never be mine despite me being his.
Ava O’Brien is drowning. She hasn’t finished paying off her father’s last gambling debt when he confesses to owing The Manarch Clan a hundred thousand dollars for a week’s worth of bad decisions.
The Manarchs are known for being ruthless and unforgiving, and Viktor Manarch was groomed that way from birth. He always gets what he wants, and when Ava walks into the family restaurant, Viktor can’t help himself. He wants the stubborn cerulean blue eyes as much as he wants to be head of the clan, and Ava’s father’s debt gives him the means to have both.
A fake engagement will wrap everything up neatly.
Too bad Viktor’s father has plans of his own that don't include Ava.
But shouldn’t he know better than anyone what happens when a dominant, possessive mafia boss claims his woman?
Viktor will set the world on fire before he will ever give up what is rightfully his.

When she thought she was at her lowest, her father came with another gambling debt. Ava O'Brien has a though life. She is working two jobs to maintain her and her father. She earns enough to pay the bills and to buy little food. But her father has a disease called 'gambling'. One day he comes home and tells Ava that he owes one hundred thousand dollars to The Manarch Clan. The Scottish Mafia Clan basically owns the city, you can name any store, they own it.
Ava may be poor woman who comes from a bad neighbourhood, but she has fire in her veins and can't stay still. She wants to know who was dumb enough to lend money to her gambling father that has a reputation of losing every single penny. That's how she comes face-to-face with Viktor Manarch himself.
Viktor is walking fire, when he walks down the street people change the direction. Everyone is afraid to even look at him, but then again, here is one woman who is standing in front of him with her head up. He can't control himself and proposes a deal that he knows Ava can't refuse. Fake engagement for a year to pay off her father's debt. He is thinking smart because not only he will be closer to taking over The Clan but he also gets amazing woman for a year.
But his father is selfish and egoistic old man that doesn't take no for an answer. He has bigger plans that don't include Ava. Will Victor be brave enough to look his father in his eyes and disobey his rules?
This book is everything! I knew that I'm going to fall in love with it before I even got it into my hands. So interesting and entertaining dark romance with amazingly developed characters. I usually like most of the books I read, but I am OBSESSED with this one. Like, literally.
Ava is great character. Brave and strong woman who fights her way through life. On the other hand, Viktor's characteristics would be a huge red flag in real life but in a book they are so attractive. I love how he wanted to build a better empire, respected one, not feared. That showed that he is actually trying to change his bad habits unlike his father.
I can't explain how much I enjoyed reading this book. I adore it, in every sense of the word. Beautifully written story with lots of plot twists that will have you on the edge of your seat. This book is first one in the series and I can't wait to read the next part!
He's a cheater ewwwwwwwww Cheaters don't deserve redemption 🙄 88% into the book too 🤭 girl you'd smash your kindle and go on a massive rant over this book, don't read this
" Maybe the journey isn't so much about becoming anything. Maybe it's about unbecoming everything that isn't really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place." Welcome back dear readers, the book I read recently is an extraordinary fiction with marvelous interpretations. This is a story of Ava O’Brien, a young lady submerged in the debts generated by his father in the gambling game. She is still left with his last debt but his addict father has made another announcement telling her that he has about a hundred thousand dollars to pay as a debt to the The Manarch Clan. The Manarch Clan is a Scottish syndicate known for the riches and merciless, inhumane deeds. Viktor Manarch, another character in story, he is the new responsible of the Manarch Clan, he has took over the family business. This the story of Ava trapped among the slash-and-burn doers. Now, unwillingly Ava has to contact the Manarch in charge. As she visited them, the Viktor Manarch has some other plans. Ava has to summon herself to him, for every time she stays with him he deducts some amount from the debt. But Viktor's hanker doesn't ends here and now Ava's fate, even her life is at big risk. There is an involvement of Viktor's dad and he has some different plans which can be hazardous for Ava. This is a roller coaster ride including lust, romance, thirst and pain. Turn the pages to witness Ava sliding with all of them what is her fate at the end.
📝I picked this one because of it's aberrant title and unique cover and I must say this is something really bombastic. The author has narrated very fantastically, a lot of romantic scenes, urban slang in the conversation and lust drives are very well assembled. I've read something like this after a very long time so I finished it in just two days. I think this book will enormously amaze the young readers.
📝I would recommend you to pick this book, the fiction lovers and typical bibliophiles will definitely match with the author's approach. I would suggest all the young readers to pick this because the language is beginner friendly and the content is furious.
Tell me this is not how the story ends? It can’t end like this? This has to be a cliffhanger…….. I can handle a cliffhanger, what I cannot handle is the story ending like this!!!!!!
I don’t want to rush the author, but when is the next book coming? Why leaving us hanging like this? I’m in tears!! 😭😭😭 Because there has to be another book coming, right?
I freaking dislike Viktor’s father. And don’t get me started on …….. can’t even say her name!!! She makes my blood boil!!!
I don’t like how I feel! I’m unsure of the loyalty of some of the characters. What if they playing nice but are actually conspiring against Ava and Viktor?
And Viktor, why you had to messed up? I’m 100% with Ava. She gave all of her to you and you betrayed her!! Viktor, you broke my heart 💔
I have so many different scenarios…… Viktor needs to make everything better….. and soon!!!!!!!!
Excellent debut and I cannot wait for the next book. Ava needs her HEA!!!!!! Please tell me they getting their HEA? This story can’t end like this!!!
Being on furlough I started to read more. I enjoy mafia/crime books. When I first read this book on the reading app raddish From the first chapter I was hooked. This book will make you go through all emotions from laughing to being angry. This book was well written. The whole series is well worth buying on raddish. You will fall in love with the characters. I ended up buying this book on Apple Books when it was published. I even received an autographed copy of the book. Suleidy Merced is a great new author. I really like that she also responds to her readers. I would definitely recommend this book.
How much is it worth accepting a challenge that takes you out of the ordinary, into an unknown world where possessiveness and the desire to possess rule? Is it love or emotional addiction? Is it worth it?
Ava O'Brien is an ordinary girl from the neighborhood, an alpha female albeit just a girl, who survives by working two jobs! She lives with her father, who manages to turn the little light in her eyes into darkness with his gambling debts! Ava tirelessly fights her father's addiction and pays back the money loaned to him by the local loan sharks! Until his uncontrolled gambling hand takes her to the place that will become her prison... or fate! Her father's debt of one hundred thousand dollars to the Manarch Clan will bring her together with Viktor, rich and charming, possessive and selfish, a man from whom she would normally keep her distance. Ava is vulnerable and strong, unobtrusive and quiet, sacrificed and unaware of her beauty, betrayed by her boyfriend and put in a position where she cannot refuse Viktor's offer! A fake engagement within a year, with which she would repay her father's debt to the Manarch Clan! Ava's life becomes ecstatic, from an ordinary girl she becomes a woman without whom Viktor cannot imagine his everyday life. The great seducer unknowingly becomes addicted to the presence of the ordinary girl next door who has not a single attribute that his father will approve and accept! She has no name, wealth, and reputation that can be combined with the Manarch Clan! Ava and Viktor embark on a path of no return, intertwined with intrigue and lies, threats and bullets, a path where possessiveness will turn into love greater than the power of the Manarch Clan! Viktor will do anything to protect Ava, but will it be enough to save her from the hands and dirty games of his father?! Does Viktor have enough power to say no to a man who won't take no for an answer?! Is the love for Ava strong enough to disobey the imposed rules?! A book that amazes and lets you breathless. The unfolding of events impresses and it is blatant how it creates mental addiction to the story of the main protagonists! Ava and Viktor have a story to tell on the big screen and I can't wait to read the sequel to the Manarch Trilogy!
Note to self: Unprotected sex with ex gf 88% into book; on page cheating.
Cheating is such a lazy, cheap and unintelligent way for authors to create angst. Cheating at the end of the book? I’m glad I read reviews because I would have been fucking PISSED if I had read 88% of a book for that bullshit to happen. Fuckin authors need to get more creative. And make characters you actually want to end up happy. Best ending to this book would be him dying a slow painful death from an STD he got from the unprotected sex with his ex.

A stupendous fiction by Suleidy Merced. Ava O’Brien, the protagonist, she is a young lady living a life full of compromises. From top to bottom she is tangled in the debts of his father from the gambling game. Poor Ava is still left with the last debt but his addict father is unstoppable, he lost another game and yet another debt is added for her and this time the truth is even more disheartened because her father has a hundred thousand dollars to pay as a debt to the The Manarch Clan. The Manarch Clan is a Scottish gang, well known for their riches, cruelty and merciless behaviour. Viktor Manarch, the character who has a wide influence on Ava's life, he is the new head of the Manarch Clan and has took over the responsibility after his father. Ava has to contact the in charge of The Manarch in order to make her plans regarding the debt paying because this time the amount was huge. When she made a visit, Viktor Manarch came up with some other evil plans. Ava has to summon herself to him, for every time she stays with him he deducts some amount from the debt. Ava was unfortunate, she was not willing to do this all but she had to. Cruel, Viktor doesn't ends here and now Ava's future, and her life is threatened. There is the appearance of Viktor's father and he has some more dangerous plans which can be really destructive for Ava. This is the story of Ava and her life in between some dangerous and cruel men. The readers will witness lust, romance, thirst and pain. Flip the pages to witness Ava struggling and also what's going to happen next.
A fantastic story accompanied by very well introduced characters. I really enjoyed reading it, the characters felt so real and the storytelling was so fine that I was able to imagine the whole scenario clearly in my head. The author has narrated so perfectly, there are a lot of romantic scenes, a significant usage of urban slang in the conversation and lust drives. A really unique story, I'm all set to rust towards the book two.
I would recommend you to read this amazing fiction, the fiction lovers should definitely add this to their collection. I would suggest all the young readers to pick this because the language is beginner friendly and the story is fabulous. So hurry up!! get your copies right now and don't forget to pass it on to your friends. A great companion for your leisure time, get it now!!
I hate reading about infidelity and OW drama in my mafia romances, and this book had it in droves. It made me want to throw my laptop away because my heart hurt so much for these two characters. Fortunately, my laptop is fine and I'm really interested in reading the next book in the series. I didn't realise this book was a part of a series, otherwise I would have been more careful in deciding to read this. Still, I don't fully regret my decision.
I like fast-paced books, but this had a pretty fast pace in each chapter. There were quite a lot of time skips and gaps, but it wasn't too jarring to read. The time skips showed us how the characters were still developing but scared to feel more for the other person.
Trigger warnings should have been included for: accidental cheating/other woman manipulates man into having sex while he's drunk, slight BDSM themes.
Start of The Manarch Trilogy if the other that follow is anything like this one then yep sign me up 😊 Ava makes you want to reach in giving her a huge hug, telling her it’s going to be okay her life has been tough every forward step her father knocks her back by ten with his gambling without care for her, working barley earning enough to cover the bill, put a small amount of food on their table and now he owes the mafia known for their reputation preceding them without a way to pay it back since he won’t work or help. Possibly doing the stupid thing ever let’s call it overly tired walks in coming face to face with one of the most dangerous Manarch asking who would be stupid enough to lend money to her father with his proceeding reputation of losing every penny he owns. Viktor sexy as all get out Manarch who frightens everyone that crosses his path in fact when they see him they turn the other way and watching this little women beauty reading him the riot act and he is of course scheming with a plan to repay her father’s debt and be his. So he proposes a plan she give him a year of her life by way of a fake engagement and he will clear her father’s debt because it will give him more ammunition in taking over from his selfish father. But when his father tells him NO to the plan informing him that he has other plans that won’t include the women he has chosen but will he be strong enough to stand up to the old man because he can’t ignore the magnetic pull between them but will he be strong enough to protect her, will his father get her or both of them killed, will he follow his heart, can she see herself with a man like him, will her father get the help he so badly needs, and can they these two find some type of happiness on the roller coaster ride?.

meet ava o'brien. she works two jobs, and is exhausted to the bone, just to be able to pay off her father's gambling debts. her addicted father has gotten her into trouble by taking a loan of hundred thousand dollars from the manarch clan, the scottish mafia that owns the city and are known for their cruel and merciless manner.
enter viktor manarch. ever since he ava came up to him, demanding how her could be so stupid to lend her father, an addicted gambler, money; he's been besotted by her. she is the first woman that has challenged him, and she makes him want to claim her.
the solution to their problems? a one-year marriage contract, through which se doesn't have to pay the hundred thousand dollars, and he can finally force his father to retire and take over the business.
over the course of the year, viktor realises that ava brings out a different side of him, one that makes him want to fall in love with her, and erase all memories of his past.
his father however, is not very pleased with the marriage as ava is an 'outsider' to the clan, and does not benefit the clan in any way.
can viktor stand up to his father and fight for his love?
i really enjoyed this book, and viktor played his part of the possessive, mafia fiancé, however at times it felt very unrealistic. although his rules came from a place of fear that something would happen to ava without him around, it did feel a little constricting. otherwise, i loved their banter and the chemistry and sexual tension was obvious from day one.
overall this was a great read, however it does end on a cliffhanger, so make sure to have book #2 of the series ready to read.

Fast paced dark mafia romance. Ava lives in the projects and is constantly bailing her father out of his gambling debts. She is barely surviving. When she finds out that her father only has 1 week to pay off $100,000 she goes to confront the man who loaned him the money.
One look at the sassy woman who had the guts to walk into a mafia bar and demand to know who loaned her notoriously bad gambling father $100,000, Viktor is hooked. He doesn't know what it is about this woman but he has to claim her.
Making her a deal that he would forgive her debt if she pretended to be his fiancé for 1 year. Of course during that year he realizes that he can't let her go, despite his father pressuring him to marry the woman who almost got him killed.
I was hooked from the very beginning of this book and couldn't put it down. While there are some minor spelling and grammatical errors it didn't take away from the enjoyment of this book.
Viktor and Ava have a connection, she makes him a better person but other than the money I'm not sure what he has not he table for Ava. He is controlling, he doesn't share and keeps things from her like she is a fragile flower. The ending is a cliffhanger and I actually appreciated how it ended. While I'd like to see these two together I want to see her sassy strong will back, not just as a whiney brat.

I love a good dark mafia romance. Tony Soprano was the love of my life. Viktor isn't quite what I'd call an alpha male, he's more of an alpha douche. He just seems very childish. Going to war for one woman just to prove his love. So much is at stake and he wants to risk it all for true love? I don't understand this. It would have made more sense (to me) if he'd just married the other woman and kept Ava on the side. There aren't any HEA in mafia romances… have we not learned anything from The Sopranos? Or The Godfather? Goodfellas?
I know it's FICTION, but I just didn't think it was believable. I also thought it too wordy. A good proofreader could've made the story more interesting. The author repeated herself A LOT! I also think there was a lot of unnecessary and childish drama. Ava isn't feisty, she's stupid and immature. Another thing that bothered me is that I didn't think there was enough sexual chemistry between them.
Hearing Massimo (365 Days) say 'Babygirl' over and over made me want to gag. Now I had to read it all over again for 300-something pages. This is just a different version of that awful book (movie).
When did writing an alpha male turn into writing unredeemable alpha douches? Can someone write an alpha male who wouldn't make me want to say to him, 'OH SHUT THE FUCK UP!", please? I would PAY good money to read that.
I shouldn’t be here. I swore never to be alone with him again. But I am incapable of resisting his touch. My body craves him, needs him. How can I stay away from a man who makes my body feel alive? A man who owns every inch of me.
I went into this blind. I didn’t know which mafia/s were involved. I didn’t know what powers were at play. I read ‘mafia romance’ and selected it. So you can imagine my excitement when I discovered it was the Scottish mafia. I haven’t enjoyed them yet! (Will there be kilts involved? Heavily tattooed, over-sized muscled men in kilts?) Starting in ‘present day’ before jumping back sucked me right now! There was no room for slow burn with this one! Tensions were high and ready to explode from the very beginning! Ava didn’t put up with Viktor’s crap. She was never a weakling, and he was never completely in control. And it was glorious! She was feisty from day one. Spoke to him in ways no one else dared to. She always stood her ground. So you can imagine the sexual tension that created! I’m so used to the mobster confining his woman to the house and her just obeying the rules. Ava is a welcomed change of pace! Though if my life were in danger like, I think I may confine myself to the house! The drama that unfolds has me very excited about the next book!
My Favorite Quotes: •”Baby girl, you have no idea what I would dare.” •”I will always take care of you.” •”I’m going to claim every inch of your body. I will be your last.” •”I don’t know what love is. Ava brings me peace in the chaos. I won’t let her go. I can’t picture my life without her.”
8/10 Dirty Birdy 7/10 Enemies to Lovers 7/10 Mafia 7/10 Series
Possession is book one in the Manarch Clan series. It is the story of Viktor and Ava. He is the heir to the Scottish mafia and she is the daughter of a gambler that is deeply indebted to said mafia. Ava decides to strike a deal with Viktor to repay her father's debt. Viktor needs a wife to be able to take over his father's clan. The two come to an arrangement that includes a fake engagement. This arrangement becomes real after a period of time but Viktor's father does not approve of the union and forbids it. He has another choice for Viktor. Ava sees the writing on the wall and leaves to go into hiding. Viktor will not stop until Ava is by his side.
This book has everything you can love about a mafia book. Lies, deceit, angst and criminal activity. You feel the struggle the characters are enduring. You root for the "bad guy" to come out on top. You wish Ava would look at the bigger picture. Some parts of the book were predictable but overall I really enjoyed this book. It does end on a cliffhanger. I immediately started the second book of this trilogy because I can't wait for these two to have their happily ever after
Ahh this book was just amazing! I love a good alpha mafia book and this did not disappoint! Victor is your typical SEXY, asshole alpha who does not ask, he demands🤤🥵 He then comes across Ava who is sweet but strong and he, of course, just has to have her! There is always drama but this drama had me on the edge of my seat (and staying up till 2am to finish the book as I could not put it down!) I was so invested and could not wait too see what happened, then Fiona comes in and sends everything crashing down - I was screaming at my screen, I wanted to cut a bitch, then the big twist at dinner happened and I was like no this cant be happening!! Then boom, ends on a lovely big cliffhanger that had me in a serious bookhangover😫🤣 I cannot wait for Revenge to come out and see what happens to Victor and Ava, also I want Fiona to get what is coming to her - BITCH! I also need more Victor, he sounds fricking amazing, some of those bedroom scenes. Shit🥵🥵🥵 Lucky Ava😏 amazing book, massive well done!😁
I didn't know what to expect starting this book. It's a nice read and very well written. The characters really come to life while reading.
There's only 2 things that made me give it 4 stars instead of 5. At some points the book feels rushed, Ava is angry and within the minute she forgives Viktor. And the plot is used on several other mob books. Even though it's refreshing itsbor the Italian or russian mob for once.
It's about a girl who has to pay the debt of her dad, as he loaned 100.000 for gambling. She agrees to be viktors fake fiance for a year to pay it of. Needless to say with a romance book she falls for him and he doesn't know what he feels. There's some pretty nasty plot twists with his dad being an ass, And a surprise visit from some people of his and her past.
All in all a nice read. But it does end with a cliffhanger and came to understand the next one will as well. So if you want to read and get an satisfying ending. Wait till the series is complete.
Ava must agree to a fake engagement to settle her fathers gambling debt with the mafia. Viktor needs a fake engagement to take over the family business. Viktor takes possessive alpha to another lever giving some serious Christian Grey vibes. Ava is very up and down one minute she’s all she misses him and wants him so much and the next minute she’s trying to get away. She was a bit annoying in that respect. The couple are dealing with drama relating to the family empire and how it affects their relationship. I did not realize when I got this book that there wouldn’t be a HEA. I saw that it was part 1 in a series but thought the other books would be about other members of the mafia. So there is a cliffhanger which hopefully will eventually lead to a HEA. Good book kept me interested the whole time. Action, spice and drama!

This is the first book in this series by this author and the first book that I’ve read by them and I wasn't disappointed one bit. This is an amazing story from start to finish. This is a very well written story with fantastic characters which come to life as you read. This is the story of Ava and Viktor, they have chemistry from the start. This book ends in a cliffhanger ending so have book two at the ready. It is a fantastic story from start to finish.
Oh, this was another one of those stories where you don't want it to end. And it ended in a cliffhanger. You are left with questions that make you want to read a sequel. Ava and Viktor, a dynamic duo where Viktor is used to getting what he wants until Ava comes into his life. He knows he wants her but his father is against him. And since his father is the head of his clan, he will have to do what his father demands, even if it goes against his heart. Ava is caught between two fires. On the one hand she, or rather her father, has a debt to settle with the Manarch clan, on the other hand her heart when she has fallen in love with Viktor. With all that has happened between them, she decides to leave and not be used as a spy anymore. Then this part ends.....looking forward to the sequel.

Ava and Viktor are on a wild ride. Ava is trying to do right by her father, and Viktor takes advantage of the situation (initially). Their situation and romance are complicated by past relationships, family dynamics, and the Scottish mafia. The book does end in a cliffhanger, which is not always my favorite, but I am intrigued enough to read the subsequent books. I'm not giving this five stars as I felt there could be additional editing as some of the chapters felt like they were repeating themselves - Ava gets frustrated and tries to escape, Viktor tracks her down and exerts control over the situation… This is a repeating theme. This is the first in a new trilogy, and this is Viktor and Ava’s story. Ava is drowning with her fathers’ debts to the mafia, and Viktor has been groomed for take over the Scottish Mafia. When Ave walks into his family restaurant, Viktor is hooked, and proposes a solution that they become fake engaged, which will clear Ava’s fathers’ debts, and keep his own father off his back and become a step closer to taking over. This is a well written story which is action packed and an emotional roller coaster, with family, friendships, great dynamics, twists, romance, and love, which leads to an entertaining page turner, which ends in a cliffhanger. There was a lot to like about the first part of this trilogy. It’s fast paced, steamy, and Viktor has the possessive alpha down perfectly. Ava doesn’t answer the phone? Viktor shows up. Ava goes someplace she isn’t supposed to go? Viktor shows up.
In addition to maintaining his dominance over Ava, Viktor is waiting to take over the clan leadership from his father. His father has very different ideas for the direction of Viktor’s life which creates compelling conflict for this story and a delicious cliffhanger.

This was a great book. The premise is great and leads to a very interesting initial situation. I really appreciate that even as they fall for each other and make allowances for each other, they stay true to who they are. Viktor doesn't let up on his need control Ava's environment even as he falls for her. The drama and the very real danger kept me hanging on until the end. I can't wait to read the next installment. Loved this! Ava was a hard character to like. She is twenty-three acting like fifteen. She is exasperating, stubborn, prideful and no matter her fear acts like she does not give a Šħɨŧ. Viktor is a spoiled self centered man until he meets Ava. They clash over and over again. Ava's belligerent attitude got tiring and it did not endear her character to me. But I did love the storyline and liked the supporting characters. *cliffhanger* . I am really looking forward to reading the next book.

Ava agreed to be Viktor's fiance for nearly a year in order to clear her father's gambling debt. She didn’t anticipate falling in love with him and risking her life. While Viktor is trying to juggle the demands of his own father while trying to protect Ava from the dangers of his business. The beginning was a little rough but it eventually the book finds its pacing. The characters and plot is good. It will be interesting to see how it plays out in the next book.

This is a mafia romance where our heroine bargains with our mafioso hero to save her gambling father who owns the mafia guy a lot of money. He needs a fake fiancé because his father is a stickler for tradition. Yada, Yada,Yada. The biggest sin of this book is that it's very boring 💤 😴. Add in the flagrant use of the term "baby girl "- in fact, I can't even recall what her actual name is. 😏 And all of the do what I say or else I will carry you?! The sex scenes while present were lack luster. There are simply too many other mafia romances out there to add this to your reading list. 🤨
I can hear Viktor doing a Stanley calling out for Ava on stage right now - except this isn't a Streetcar and Ava isn't Stella - but omg, the torn heart in this man. I'm in, I'm here for the next book, I can't believe you left us on that question mark but have faith the story will continue (soon) and I will be able to be back in Glasgow with my peeps. Great story - read ASAP!.
