Monsters. Gods and Goddesses. Turns out, the stories about the Bermuda Triangle are true. When my small charter plane crash-lands on an unexplored island that shouldn't even exist, it's up to me to keep my beautiful passengers and copilot safe. But this ancient place is more than it seems. The island is changing us, making us faster and stronger. Giving us power beyond our imagination. Which is good, because there's something sinister here with us. Something powerful and deadly. And it knows we're here. Contains mature themes.
Jack Porter always delivers on great stories. This one has a bit of Jungle King flavor to it, but with even more rationale for the women coming together around a single man. I'm looking forward to seeing where things go from here as more girls find their crystals and discover new powers.
Probably should've been aware of this before reading this book given the blurb, but there are only 5 characters in this novel: the MC and his 4 girl harem. Now this could work given conflict between the members and the story being focused on their shared experiences helping them bridge the divide.
Unfortunately, such a thing doesn't happen and instead the group comes together immediately, supernaturally compelled to be content with their situation (ripped from their homes and families) and their relationship (polyamory). It isn't helped by the fact that the only other source of tension comes from generic bad guy #3511, and he wouldn't be interesting even as a once of side character. Another way to combat this would've been to add tribes of ancient peoples living in this island but at that point I'd just be writing my own story.
Jack Porter is a skilled writer, so it took me a while to drop this, but it's clear that this novel needed to go through several more rounds of brainstorming before being committed to writing.
I like the survival part of their journey and how they have to work for it. They also have to figure out how the magic works and how they make the crystals work. The growth-thingy is a new one for me and its funny. With all the...logistical problems at first :D After 2/3 i wondered why the hell didn´t he just pick them up and carried them over. But maybe that would have been too easy. Maybe a bit too much of the background story was revealed at this point but i don´t know how many books will follow this one so maybe its all good. Nevertheless i had fun reading it and look forward to the next one!
Another great book of magic, action and great sex by Mr. Porter.
While not quite as good as the life of Rogan, Dexter is no slouch. If you haven't read the series about Rogan, do so. But meantime this book about a pilot and four women stranded in the Bermuda triangle will hold your interest. Gone down on an unknown island they must figure out the past. Only by doing so will they be able to win the present. With evil gods trying to kill them they regroup and take the fight to the spirit world. With the help of Yua, an aged monk who looks to be 23 they have a favorable chance to win.
Quite possibly one of the worst books I've ever read. This book made no sense, was not interesting... why did I finish it? I'm sure some people think this was groundbreaking and interesting, but I just didn't get it. Even the spicy scenes were flat and lifeless. I do not recommend and I will actively discourage others from reading it.
First exactly what I expect from this author! A well written and edited adult fantasy adventure!!! Excellent character development, an entertaining story and good adult fantasy action!!! More please
A great take on the waking up in a different world genre, a good first book with an interesting plot and not the usual over powering mc or oh luck I managed to trip up and trombone another female trope.
Again another knock out story by Porter!! The more he writes the better he gets, this one even the erotic scenes were well placed! Not to much one way or the other!
